As the ‘old maid’ of the Hennessy family, Colleen can deal with her mother pressuring her to become a nun. What she can’t handle is the idea she might never find a husband who will appreciate her exuberant nature and zest for life. Since Miss Hazel Hughes did such a wonderful job of matching Colleen’s sister Molly with a Mountie, Colleen hopes the renowned matchmaker can do the same for her.
Having grown up without a father, Marshall Bowman has no idea exactly what it means to be a ‘real man’, much less a husband or — heaven forbid! — a father. But once he lays eyes on his beautiful, sassy bride, he vows to try. Expressing emotions has never come naturally for Marshall, so good thing for him, Colleen has emotions to spare.
When a gang of train robbers threatens the life of the woman he loves, Marshall is forced to face his greatest fears. To have a chance of saving Colleen, he must become the man he’d always hoped to be — but is it already too late?
Mail Order Mounties is a multi-author series set in Canada during the early 1900s. Join authors Kirsten Osbourne, Kay P. Dawson, Cassie Hayes and Amelia Adams as they bring you stories of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police and the mail-order brides who love them.
Cassie Hayes grew up pretending she was Laura Ingalls (before that pesky Almonzo arrived on the scene) in the middle of Oregon farm country. She lives with her husband and cat on the Pacific Ocean and loves to hear from her readers.
The stories are the creation of talented multi-authors and each focus on Miss Hazel Hughes, a self-appointed matchmaker and the mail-order brides she locates for single members of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police. Each story in this series will read as a standalone. The story is a clean historical situated in Canada with a great cast of characters and plenty of humor. This story will take the reader on a journey of discovery and will bring the con-artist and law enforcement together in marriage.
Colleen Hennessey has reached the ripe old age of twenty-six, making her an old-maid in the eyes of many. After her older sister, Molly chose not to become a Nun like their mother insisted and instead went to Miss Hazel and was matched with Easton, Colleen has considered doing the same. Especially now that their mother wants her to join the sisterhood, so she is ready to take the plunge too.
“You’re a formidable woman. You’re strong, independent, and have the energy of a thoroughbred colt. Seems to me, most men what exactly what Mr. Albury wants you to be—meek, quiet, docile. That’s just not you.”
Colleen is the type of person who has never met a stranger, and isn’t afraid to talk to people and is especially outgoing. Her kindness and being helpful to a guest will get her in trouble at work, but it will also be the push for seeking out Miss Hazel.
“I swear I’ll be faithful and good-natured and follow the Good Books’ teachings on being a proper wife. And I’ll give him as many children as he wants. I would love a big family, like the one I grew up in. He’d hardly have to lift a finger. “
Marshall Bowman had never really considered marriage, raised by a single mother and never knowing his father; he has not had an example of what a husband or father should be. When Colleen steps off the train and comes running up to him and hugs him, he is forever lost. But that doesn’t mean he keeps from having doubts. Why does he leave Colleen feeling confused, as if he doesn’t want her there?
“I know you don’t have much experience with the opposite sex, so let me assure you, your husband is absolutely dazzled by you. So much so that he might be temporarily blinded. Sometimes we must lead our men to where we know they want to go, even if they don’t know it yet.” –Miss Hazel
The story takes on the danger of what the Mounties must handle, including helping when lost individuals, missing items, flooding, blizzard conditions, and even crime. Knowing that there is a gang of men robbing trains will keep them on alert. When they strike White Fox’s station, it won’t be without someone being hurt. That adds to Marshall’s fears for Colleen. He is a man who says the wrong thing, or doesn’t say something when he should that hurts his wife’s feelings and boy does he suffer several cases of foot-in-mouth disease.
The story will take on a life and death situation that will require teamwork and trust. It will have Marshall realize that the most important person in his life, his wife, Colleen is, and he will boldly prove himself.
“Marshall had never imagined when he sent away for a mail-order bride that he’d fall so helplessly head over heel for her. She hadn’t been what he’d expected or even thought he wanted in a wife, but it turned out she was exactly what he’d needed.”
Colleen finally had enough for her job and her mom wanting her to go be a Nun. She turns to Miss Hazel like her older sister did.
Marshall is a different type if man he doesn't know how to show his feelings. He keeps things to himself and he is not even sure he can be a good husband. He always has doubts.
When a gang of bank robbers come along and Andrew get's shot, Marshall really has doubts. He and Colleen take a picnic after a week of the mounties trying to find the gang. Little do they know they are about to find that gang but can Marshall protect what is his?
Another great story and characters. We get to see a bit more of Chip the big bison. Colleen is a strong woman who really helps Marshall. You will like reading about these two.
The bride in this book reminded me of my husband and I -- we were NOT mail order bride, but I am a chatterbox and he is quiet. Opposites can attract. This has been a great series of the several books that I have read. All the participating authors are so talented and their stories leap off the pages. A bride for Marshall is up there with my favorite edition so far. I just love how the author has crafted the story line to be unique. I loved the comedic parts thrown in there. Another Great edition to the RNWMP series. I received a copy of this book through the author, all opinions are my own.
The Mounties are back with another wonderful mail order bride story with Colleen taking a page out of her sister’s book to become a mail order bride. Nothing against dear old mom but a nun isn’t for her she wants a family, a husband who will love her for who she is. Marshall isn’t looking forward to marriage, wife or a family but all that changes when he sets eyes on the lovely Colleen. Actions speaks louder than words and her actions just melted his heart. They come from different worlds one from a loving family with both parents and the other with no father. Can these two come together and find what real love and family is all about.
This is a great book about adventure, learning what it means to be a family, love and what is the most important thing in life. I loved how Colleen weaves her magic around Marshall showing him what true love is all about. She has so much energy that is would be hard not to like her. Where Marshall is reserved it isn’t easy to tell what he is feeling and Colleen being just the opposite they blend well together giving the other what they truly need. I really liked the characters as well as the plot. I loved the excitement and danger and how the author kept it at a steady pace filled it with thrills that hold your attention. This is such a heartwarming read it really touched me. I loved it from start to finish. ***************
Bride for Marshall is a well-written and unique story. The story line is fresh and moves along at a steady pace while being engaging, appealing and attention grabbing. This story hooked me from the very start and I could not put it down.
The characters are easy to connect with and well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and like that the author doesn’t make the relationship easy. The characters had to learn to overcome their past to mature and grow together. Colleen is a sassy and bubbly, the opposite of the quiet Mountie Marshall. Marshall has to learn that he can be the man that Colleen needs and wants. Colleen and Marshall complete each other and must learn how to love and communicate together.
Cassie Hayes knows how to create a story with enough romance and action to keep the reader entertained and fascinated. This is another brilliant book from a remarkably talented author. Cassie Hayes is one of my top go-to authors. She writes incredible stories that do not leave me disappointed. Even though this is part of a series, each book can be read as a stand-alone. I am anxiously waiting to read more in this series.
If you are looking for an outstanding romance then I recommend any book from Cassie Hayes. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming and sweet romance with the happy-ending we come to expect.
Colleen Hennessy has taken the bull by the horns and has decided to follow in her older sister Molly's footsteps. She is going to be a Mail Order Bride to a Mountie! Miss Hazel has the perfect man in mind. Marshall Bowman is a man that was raised by a single mother with no man to model himself after. Colleen comes from a family with 15 children and loving parents. Can these two in need of love and happiness mesh their lives into what they both desire? Being a Mountie can be dangerous. Soon they are building a life. Marshall is quiet and has to urge himself to become open with Colleen, if he wants to make things work... He does but it is so hard to bare his soul. Colleen is exuberant and full of enthusiasm for life.
Cassie Hayes has done it again! Just when you think the last book you read by her was the best ever, out comes an even better one! You will not be disappointed in reading this book. The entire Mail Order Mountie series is exciting and beautifully written by the many talented authors taking part. Give this series a try!
I received and ARC of this book to give an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.
I love this series! This one is Marshall and Colleen’s story.
Marshall is a quiet and introspective person . He wasn’t sure that he wanted a wife and he surely didn’t get what he expected. He loved her at first sight.
Colleen is full of sunshine and happiness. (Love that!) She looks for the good in her life. It was love at first sight for her. She is just afraid that she is too much for him.
I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop over the story. It is true that there is a person that can complete you. She was just wanted he needed to pull him out of his doubtful nature. She needed him to help her see that she was fantastic just the way she was.
Great story that leaves you with a happiness in your heart.
I received a copy from the publisher to restore.

This was a short, sweet, funny and endearing read. Two seemingly total opposites funding their way to one another.
Colleen is a very exuberant and full of life young woman. But she's stuck in her life. And with only one way out she goes the way of her sister and signs up to be a mail order bride for a Mountie.
Marshall has always been a quite and reserved sort of fellow. Never showing his feelings he's very stoic. But his pairing with his new wife may just bring out more from him.
Never in their wildest dreams did they expect to have the adventures and love that they've experienced. But when danger comes to their small town will their happiness be started in disaster? Can they survive to see both of their dreams come true?
This series is interesting in that it uses multiple authors and multiple stations for the Mounties. This story is about Colleen and Marshall. Marshall grew without a father figure and he has doubts about whether or not he will be a good husband and father. Colleen,on the other hand, was mentioned in a previous book about Easton and Mol!t as she is Molly's younger sister. Colleen appeared again when another of the women Miss Hazel finds was at the same hotel where Colleen worked. In this foursome of stories, we have a bit of action at the end and each Mountie has a different experience. It is interesting to see how the different authors weave together their stories.
This series only gets better and better! Cassie Hayes has done a wonderful job with this particular addition to the series. Colleen may be the "old maid" in her family, but this chatter box is not old. At twenty-six she is ready for change, but not the change her mother wants for her and that is to go to be a Nun. Marshall is nearing thirty and stoic. Raised by his mother, he holds everything within himself, but the minute Colleen launches herself at him on the train platform his heart melts and he begins to grow as a man and his doubts of being a good husband and father begin to melt away.
I loved this heartwarming story. Colleen is a ray of sunshine. After her job is threatened, & Mam is pushing Colleen to become a nun, she pays Miss Hazel a visit. Marshall is excited, & nervous about getting married. He wonders if he'll be a good husband. Then Marshall's bride to be steps off the train. Colleen takes his breathe away. I really enjoyed reading this book. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
Colleen is far from an Old Maid but her mom has started calling her that. Marshall was an only child raised by a single mom. Cassie Hayes has a way of making you fall in love with her characters. She doesn't drag out the I love you's in this book and that makes it so much sweeter. It's filled with conflict, adventure, love and friendship. It makes you happy.🤗
Loved Colleen, a great cook, loves to talk and a fighter. A great match for Marshall. I really enjoyed their story, another great addition to the series. Definitely hard when you meet and get married on the same day but will they survive? I received an complementary copy of the book from the author.
I am truly enjoying this series. I loved the book "Bride For Marshall." The characters are so lovable. Colleen is a spitfire full of enthusiasm. Marshall is much more reserved, but Colleen helps to bring him out of his shell. They face adventures together as they build their relationship. This is a light-hearted book which will make you feel good.
Have read the entire series. Love these books. All have a little humor a little excitement a little romance. Glad they are centered in Canada and reall enjoy the Mounties. Waiting on th next episode!
I loved this book and fell asleep reading because I just couldn’t put it down .Chip the bison is a hoot snooping all over town. When an only child marries one Of fifteen children things are a bit different to say the least.I loved Colleen’s exuberant personality.
I have enjoyed everyone oh the Mounties books I have read. This one is no different. All of the couples are strong and determined to make a success of their promises and vow to each other.
Exciting, funny and heartwarming. I love the friendships displayed and the dialog between the characters. It's like you are there. Cassie Hayes always deliver a story worth shouting about for others to read.
I was laughing from the beginning,Ms Cassie Hayes did it again. If you are looking for a book to make you laugh and want to keep you reading, Bride for Marshall is a good choice.
I loved the spunk of Marshall’s bride and her zest for life. She brings a spark into his orderly Mountie life and it’s not appreciated at first. I also loved the interaction with the other couples in this close knit group of Mounties & their brides.
Truly inspirational, the story, the characters and the adventures. Thank you so much for this book. I will recommend this book and author to all my friends and family, so they can be enlightened.
Loved the characters. Colleen was a sassy independent bride for her insecure Marshall. Another perfect match by Miss Hazel, matchmaker for the Mounties.
Marshall and Collen (Molly's sis) I enjoyed reading this sweet romance story. Chip the peeping tom Bison was hilarious! They had a great and satisfying HEA.
