Thinking her new karate skills would be a good way to teach a lesson to a gang of bullies at her high school, Julie must remember Mr. Miyagi's teachings about controlling her anger if she is to keep her self-respect
I haven't seen The Next Karate Kid—hell, I haven't seen any Karate Kid movie, for that matter—but I have now listened to a reading of the novelization performed by a comedian for a fully-paywalled podcast (of which he is not even a main component). The ideal way to experience any story, really.
Ever wanted to learn karate so you could kick someones butt, well, then this isn't the book for you, but read it anyways. This books about a trouble making girl who learns learns to change her ways by learning from her master, an old guy who is her grandma's friend. She once thought that she was alone but after being around her master, she finds herself in a new light. Read this book, it has action and its cooler than a barrel of monkeys, maybe...
Brought to me by an incredibly silly comedy podcast Scott Hasn't Seen. The route to it was very circuitous, but between covering The Next Karate Kid and some seasons of the TV show Cobra Kai, the hosts (Scott Aukerman and Shaun Diston) and their guest for this episode Connor Ratliff have created a fabulist cinematic universe. It all leads to Ratliff reading this little number.
This did bring back fun memories of Scholastic Book Fairs, and Ratliff has a lot of fun with it. I enjoyed the reading, if not the plot.
While the book is very approachable due to simple, short sentences, there are a few issues with the plot. Mostly it’s the second act growing tension to the end; almost every problem encountered in the beginning is resolved before the end comes. Rather than building to a grand finale, it’s sort of one thing resolves, then another, then another, then another, and while some scenes might be more fun in movie-form, the simplicity of the sentence structure for child readers sort of takes the action out of it.
Still, it is a pleasant story with nice overall messages to it!
Amazing book and movie guys I live in Pakistan this is my email if any one of u could send me the pdf of the book would be great honor my gmail is khursheedrind7076@gmail.con
All I can really remember is the movie of this, since I saw it within the last year. It's totally cliché and silly, but there are some great things to be taken out of it.
But I suppose that it to be expected. We just assume that someone like Mr. Miyagi would have to spout wisdom at just, just because he is from the East. Like our very own Chinese fortune cookie to be opened up at any time.
Also, I didn't like the actress or the plot very much, which is why I gave it such a low rating. I liked the first movie the most! I should definitely get my hands on that book!
Another read for the book/movie combo project that my sister and I are working are. This one is inspirational with M. Miyagi helping Julie work through her anger issues.
