After moving from Denali, Alaska, to San Francisco in order to get over a failed crush and try his hand at dating new people, Josh Little hosts a big poker night for the Marians and his co-workers at the National Park Service. Little does he know, that his own true love may not be someone new after all. Could it be that The One That Got Away is finally back for good?
It’s been eight long years since Cyrus Dimakos had to leave the love of his life to take care of his great-grandmother on a remote island in Greece. A family obligation may have kept his body away from Josh all this time, but his heart never left him. Despite having broken things off with Josh shortly after leaving him, Cyrus hopes it’s not too late to convince Josh to give him a second chance at forever.
10,000 word short. Josh’s story takes place after A Very Marian Christmas and can be considered Made Marian 7.5.
I write M/M romance with humor, heart, and heat. Check out my backlist here on GR for a selection of series and standalone or visit www.LucyLennox.com!
I only keep a small list of my very favorite books and series in my bookshelf here. I read A LOT and it's hard to keep the list updated!
Josh is book #7.5 in the Made Marian series by Lucy Lennox. It is a super short story that is part of the Made Marian box set Volume three. Josh has shown up a couple of times in the previous books, most recently in the Very Marian Christmas book.
It’s been eight years since Cyrus Dimakos left the love of his life to go take care of his great grandmother on a small island in Greece. It’s been seven years since he told Josh that it was over so that Josh would feel free to move on with his life. Now his great grandmother is gone and Cyrus could think of nothing else but getting to Josh to see if there was a chance to put things back together.
Josh Little is now thirty years old. He is a park ranger and moved from Alaska to San Francisco because he was lonely and hoped to somehow find someone to love. Only he’s pretty sure that he already had and lost his one true love. It’s game night and he has the entire Marian family coming to his apartment along with some co-workers to play cards. Only, the doorbell rings one more time and he can’t believe who is standing there.
Is it too late or is there a chance for Josh and Cyrus to build a life that wasn’t possible eight years ago? This was super sweet and I was so happy to see poor Josh finally get his happy ever after. I’m loving this box set with all the little extras.
This is not the main reason for my low rating, but just a word of advice for authors that choose to write a character who speaks a language other than American/English: a simple online tool is not gonna cut it. If you want to translate long phrases or even short ones to another language, you need someone who speaks the foreign language to proof them for you.
Other than that, I found the plot and especially the reunion utterly ridiculous. And despite it being a standalone all these characters from the other books just confused me.

Short, spicey and packed with emotion. The Made Marian shorts have been a delight as Lucy gives us a peek into some of the other men who didn't get a HEA with a Marian :)
Super cute, very sexy stories about some side characters in the Made Marion series. I read it as book1.5 all together, but I think it would be a better experience. If you waited until after the individual books that it follows. Great short stories that are romantic with plot and a lot of spice. I'm giving them 🌶🌶🌶3/5 chilies on the spicy scale. They all have HEAs and some even have epilogues.
I listened to the audiobook and Michael Dean is fantastic.
This book 7.5 in the "Made Marian"series it was a short quick read that I wished was longer. We first met Josh in "Taming Teddy" he went out with Jamie and has had a little crush on him which does not sit well with his husband Teddy. Josh left Alaska to meet people to date and moved to San Fran. 8 years ago Cyrus left Josh to take care of his grandmother in Greece leaving both of them heart broken and now that she has died he has returned to claim his man. This was really good short quick read. Josh is hosting the monthly poker game with the Marian brothers and their spouses and friends from work and Hayworth who we met in "Moving Maverick" he moved from Rabbit Island both he and Josh went out on a date with Noah in "A Very Marian Christmas" he and Josh have been hooking up. When Cyrus shows up on his doorstep everyone sees why he likes Jamie turns out Cyrus and Jamie look just alike. I love reading this series and I really hope that Ms. Lennox writes more about them. This book was well written like the rest of the books in this series with no errors in grammar or spelling.
I was most excited about this book! Josh, we remember from Teddy’s book where he was a Park Ranger. Well, we learn about his past with Cyrus who has to go away and be with his ailing grandmother. Only to return 8 yrs later and their connection is still alive and kicking. Sigh, I love a HEA!
This needs to be said, Josh was AWFUL to Hay I get that he was in love with Cyrus and that he was his true love and everything in between but seriously, you could have had just the decency to really break things off before doing everything else. Not cool.
Also, I get that this was a short story but felt waaaaay too rush, were they pointing a gun to your head to write as few words as possible? Because I can't understand any other way for it to be like it is.
Still, nice story, love revisiting my favorite characters.
JOSH is a short story set in the Made Marian world and would best be read in chronological order due to poker night containing series spoilers. Josh was originally introduced to the series in Taming Teddy, as the Denali co-worker that had a crush on Jamie. Cyrus was Josh's young adult love that left eight years ago to tend to family matters, not to be heard from again. Until the day he showed up on Josh's doorstep. This is a hot and sexy sweet second chance short story. Nearly the full Marian cast are included here, so reading this one in order is important. JOSH managed to even contain a delightful epilogue!
Thank you, Ms. Lennox, for providing these entertaining between-the-books Free Short Stories to your readers!
These “extra” shorts work for me if both characters have been part of the series before, so you kind of get some development from the “bigger picture.” But this is a short with a peripheral character and an entirely NEW character. To me, it reads like a condensed book in which whoever did the condensing left out too much vital information. I like the premise, and like what is there, but for me to really enjoy it, this needs to be a full novel and give more back story for both MCs separately and as a couple. I also see where other readers say the Greek included in the story isn’t accurate — there is no excuse for that.
This has Josh who went on one date with Jamie in Taming Teddy. He was also in another of the books as well.
Josh's ex Cyrus comes back after being gone for almost 9 years taking care his great grandma. That part had me cause I know what's like to take care someone did for 7 years myself.
Cyrus shows up and they get back together because all this time they never forgot and Josh has never stopped wanting him back. Nor did Cyrus.
I didn't think I could hate a story in this series as much as the Jamie and Teddy pne. How ironic that it is a spinoff from that one. WTF An ex shows up after eight years of no contact, and he acts all jealous about folks Josh is with? Then he admits he was writing faithfully to Josh's mom while Josh was miserable and lonely. He was also controlling.
yuck. what an asshole

Such a cute and spicy addition to the Marian series! I really enjoyed that Josh was able to get a happy ending after the disappointment that he had with Jaime and the loneliness that came with living in Alaska. I loved that he was able to reunite with his childhood love!
A fun short in the Made Marion world. This one sees Josh's story told. Josh first turned up in Alaska in Taming Teddy and was a great foil to that story. Great to see him getting his own time to shine.
Not my favourite one of these shorts. While I enjoyed the pairing and do believe they would have ended up back together, I dislike that for the short they plowed past the issues. I don't like how Cyrus mislead Josh for years and then bulldozes back into his life and won't give him any time to adjust, staying with him regardless. Really would have liked them to be able to work things out a bit but beyond that, the pair had chemistry and would be a great romance.
After meeting Josh in Taming Teddy, I was so excited to see he was getting a short story! This little gem is a great quick read! If you love the Made Marian Series, you need to get your hands on this one! Total Swoon Worthy!
Another great add to the series. We finally get to see Josh get his man; Cyrus. This is a sweet heartwarming shirt about second chance at true love. Get to see past favorites like Hayworth, Jamie and Teddy along for the ride. Also some past questions are answered which made this come full circle. Can't wait for the next.
This is my favorite in the .5's of this series. It managed a surprisingly developed storyline for such a short piece. I didn't really like the how alpha Cyrus was, but that's probably just me.
Funnily enough, Josh was introduced in Taming Teddy, the only book in this series that I decided ot pass on
