Just getting back into reading and reading this one made the change from audible back to ebooks a pleasure and showed me what I was missing. First the story is very well written and the author introduced each character with enough history to help the reader learn the character. The one main item I liked was that the sexual parts was not overbearing but was told in a way it was a pleasure to read about and feel the love the two main characters learned about each other. The story is about Noah who is a shifter and he does not it till an incident happens were his life is in danger by a person who is a dragon trying to live off both human and shifters life force his life is saved and changed when a dragon shifter and hunter named Griffith saves him. I have to say this is an awesome read and a very sweet romance were you live the building of this romance from day one.
I absolutely loved this book (and accompanying novella). Griffith had to have been completely heart-broken when Madoc first went to jail after having killed Rafe - to have lost both his lover, and someone who had once been a friend. I thought that this gave Griffith's character a good depth, as well as the opportunity to grow.
I also loved that Noah wasn't immediately accepting of the existence of shifters, but neither did he blindly refuse to accept the evidence of things that he couldn't explain as it was presented to him.
Ultimately, their devotion to each other's safety made for an awesome mating and I hope that this is just the beginning of the stories in this fascinating new world.
I always find Ms. Rider’s stories to be enjoyable and entertaining even though they often feel as if something was missing. Although I think Griffith and Noah made a cute couple, I feel like I didn’t really get to know them that well. I would have preferred that some of the page space taken up by sex scenes be used to provide more details on their families, friends, etc. As it was, in the second part, where Noah shifted and flew for the first time, they spent more time having sex than shifting and flying. I normally would have given this three stars but I bumped it to four as a thank you, because sadly, Ms. Rider is one of only a relatively small number of authors who write enjoyable shifter stories that do not involve mpreg; especially those with dragons.
As I couldn't find my original copy of the two separate stories I was delighted when this came out for purchase! These two stories make for a quick but delightful read with a nice dose of paranormal, some action, and a bit of hot romance.
Noah knows nothing about shifters or his own heritage so when a murder attempt opens his eyes to it the world abruptly shifts. Griffith is determined to save Noah's life when he is targeted but it ties the two men together, bringing up questions about the past and the future. All the while a former friend is hunting them down to try and get Noah again. It makes for quite the captivating little read!
The Sun Dragon's Mate was a fun exciting read. Noah is brought into the world of shifters when one decides he would be a great snack. Griffin has been trailing a predator, when Modac a dragon shifter gone bad attacks Noah Griffin rescues him and saves his life. Noah and Griffin's characters are fun and interesting, the storyline intriguing and entertaining.
I actually stopped at 79% - the end of the first novella, Dragon Sun. It was ok, but much like the other books I've read by this author, I'd call it mildly entertaining at best, without enough depth or originality to really get me invested in the characters... in this case, that meant I was already a bit bored and skimming by 79%, and had no real interest in the bonus novella. Oh well.
I love reading books that take a different approach to shifters. Who knew there was a Sun Dragon? This was a wonderful book that I’m sure that will be read again and again! Highly recommended
If you are a fan of fated mates, dragons, and paranormal love – you won’t want to miss this! I was so psyched to find this author I immediately went out and bought her other titles!
This is really a book one and epilogue billed as 2 books, but that’s ok – they’re wonderful together and I was glad to see them bundled this way.
There is a bit of personal growth, some hot smexy times, some very romantic feelz and the potential for this series to grow.
A latent dragon and his mate, and the one who wants to ruin them both!
What a fantastic set! I love the concept of a sun dragon. The draconic powers detailed here are unique and awesome. Near death, a saving claim, loyal friends, courage, and an attraction that is as intense as it is inevitable. I fell in love along with Griffith and Noah. Oh, did I mention a deranged dragon trying to kill them both? Ooh, ooh... and the sexy times are hot... literally...and frequent. You are simply gonna love this book!
