XALAX When I see her groped and humiliated at the auction house, I have no choice but to buy her. Even if a virgin human female costs as much as all the minerals on Fenda.
I don’t care if it’s against the rules, if the healers say our DNA isn’t compatible. I’m the Crown Prince. I make the rules. I take what I want. And I want her.
She’s my proper mate. I can feel it.
But first, I must claim her. I’ll try to be gentle with my delicate little creature, but I don’t know if I can…
RESA I’m a Marked human female, bought and paid for. He can do anything he wants to me. This gigantic, muscled alien has total mastery over my body.
I’ve never done this before… with human or alien. I'm frightened, alone and trembling but I can't help but imagine what it will feel like when this hulking creature takes me...
Why would I desire this brute? Even if he’s the one who saved me. The only one to show me kindness.
All that stuff he said about bonding and mates, that’s just alien superstition. It’s not what’s happening. Is it?
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙💚❤️ Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗 World building: 🌏🌍🌏 Character development: ☺️😍 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Resa - it is her 20th birthday which means she is marked to be sold to a Zalaryn male. Earth can no longer grow things and feed humans. Humans are now in debt to the Zalaryns who provide for them in exchange for marked females who are sold to them as slaves. The virgin girls who can breed and whose DNA is compatible are marked. The Zalaryns are those who have saved and enslaved them.
The Hero:Xalax - the Zalaryns have more technology than Earth, but they still seem barbaric. They are over 6 ½ feet tall, hulking and muscular, they have no hair, they have fangs, and only wear breeches and boots. Xalax has hopes his father is still alive, but his body has not been found so he is losing hope. He is being declared dead and Xalax will be king. Though he would rather go back to bed since he is hungover. The high council announces his coronation will be in two months if he finds a mate by then.
The Story: Xalax and his best friend go to the auction house to check out the new human females that were brought in this day. Xalax is definitely not ready to become king. He is privileged and known to be a slacker. The high council isn’t on his side either. Resa is embarrassed and sickened by the auction process. Apparently, the human women of this time are very virtuous, naïve and have no knowledge of some of things we know about like DNA and technology. Also, the men at the auction are awful. Xalax is disgusted by the men and the proceedings. Most of the men on the planet seem to by mysogynistic dirtbags that think of nothing but sex and in a very bawdy and crass way.
This one started ok but got a bit boring as it went on and I had some problems with the story. I didn’t like how Resa got used to and got to like hanging around naked because that is what Xalax wanted. Some of the intimate scenes were uncomfortable more than sexy, I am not sure if it was the writing or the narration, but I suspect it was a bit of both.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Justine O’Keefe and Tristan James. Justine has a soft feminine voice which is good, though she speaks at a tempo that you can tell she is reading. Tristan James has a nice voice, not as deep as I usually like but it is good, and he does a great job.
Very disappointing read. I was surprised by the elementary writing style and descriptions.
The Zalaryn Raiders are a race of aliens that are not endearing. They are rapists upon rapists with zero regard for human life. The crown prince is the only male that shows any respect for human females.
There was a weak plot of betrayal against the alien crown prince but I wasn't emotionally invested in the fight.
Worst case of Insta love ever because the couple didn't spend time talking or getting to know one another. Just horny for one another and then...Bam!! ....I love you!!
The ending was weird...as if the author met her page limit and had to wrap it up in 30 words or less. Not what I was expecting at all!
Gosh, where do I start? The language used to describe certain things was so cringe-worthy that I couldn't see past them. The storytelling was so basic and shallow, with no real meaning to it other than alien abduction and Stockholm Syndrome thrown in with a dash of maybe this is true love. It was crude and unnecessary, much like the creation of this story. Definitely, a regret read for me.
A good story but an incredibly weak ending. I wanted to see more development in their relationship besides sex because that does not equal love. I also was hoping to see some movement for better treatment of human women. Unfortunately this book ended too soon, although it had a lot of potential.
This was an ok novella length romance. The story works as an opener for a new series where human woman are bartered in an exchange program with aliens. The heroine herself was raised as such a human and knew her life would lead to her being sold, auctioned and bred. Luckily she catches the eye of the prince who whisks her away. The two are also mates, something that rarely if ever happens. Women are slaves and I’m assuming this book will open a door for human women finally being loved and respected as part of this exchange/tribute program. Not exactly my favorite book but it was quick and the heroine wasn’t super annoying which always helps.
NO ★ This wasn't my cuppa. At all. But it was short. So there's that... Why did I do it, you ask? Well, it was included in the (free) plus catalogue on Audible.
THOUGHTS Human, earthbound, FMC is destined by DNA to be a breeder, and is taken off earth to an auction, where the savior aliens of Earth buy human females to breed. She's sold to what turns out to be her mate. Sexy times ensue.
On Earth things aren't great, and she is treated like a outcast because of the DNA thing that means she's destined... so it's really lucky that she catches the attention to an alien Prince and even luckier he's a very decent sort.

Reread 3/17/21, and I gotta say I enjoyed it better than the first time. Still a 3 star, but not so much of a let down as I’d originally stated.
A bit of a letdown
I'm on a sci-fi kick. This one started off interesting enough. There was a nice tale being woven, characters held promise and then, it just went flat. The flow of the story was inconsistent. The Hero and heroine's chemistry was non-existent. There was a lot of telling in this story, not enough showing.
***Trigger warning ⚠️ this book talks a lot about sexual assault!⚠️
I’ve read a lot of alien romance books but this one wasn’t very good at all.
The only somewhat interesting but also annoying part was that rather than most books were female’s are just taken.
Earth had been raided by a savage alien species who just love to rape & pillage and left earth destroyed. Until another alien race came and made a deal that they would protect the humans from those other aliens in exchange for breeding females.
From what we’re told it happened it happened when our female protagonist’s grandmother was younger, yet by our girls generation humans were nothing but simple farmers who apparently don’t have much of an education.
Our girl didn’t know what DNA or a bunch of other things were, it seems really odd that humans would stop being educated that fast it should take generations to start to loose it.
This book also got a gold star for the ick factor with creepy aliens who want females shaven & broken in for fun. (Again most books have your alien pirates or traffickers selling the females and only the unsavoury creatures buy them) but in this book our princes didn’t even see the way the girls were being treated as wrong (well besides for breaking one’s maiden head before purchasing)
Ya this alien princess is kind to our female protagonist but he’s just like the others in the fact that he wants her to always be naked and he doesn’t communicate with her (if he did he could of saved her from being taken & they could of worked together)
His own species the females are looked down on because they can no longer have children & are all born deformed. It didn’t use to be that way but rather than spending any time on finding a cure to help their females they rather just take females who can breed from other worlds.
I feel bad for the women that are born on his planet, their entire society is sick & twisted and needs to change!
Now the princes’s own government officials or generals have gone behind his back & working with their rivals to cause a war & to over throw him as king.
He trusts no one and wants to stop it alone without help…
Sold to the Alien Prince is the first book, and debut novel from Viki Storm. This is a wonderful Sci-fi, fantasy- an alien romance that has LOTS of smoldering ‘action’ that will get you hot under the collar. This is a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to read more!! The book was a little bit slow to get going, while the author laid the foundations of the story- but it soon picked up and I was immersed in a wonderful world, watching as the story unfolded. This is a very quick and easy read, but it wasn’t lacking in story or heat! As a debut novel, I felt this was quite outstanding! I zipped through it in less than a couple of hours. The story has drama, action, angst, a bit of a political undercurrent, well thought out plot, superb world building, wonderful character development. Resa was marked since early childhood, she has always known what her fate would be. Her DNA and fertility made her an extremely valuable commodity. Now she has reached the age where her fate takes over- she is set to be auctioned to the highest bidder at the exclusive slave market on a distant planet. Naked and afraid, she won’t let them see her fear. Poised and graceful, entirely feminine and beautiful- all eyes are on her. Can she get through this latest humiliation? Xalax is the Crown Prince of Zalaria and will be ascending the throne as soon as he can find a suitable mate. With a coronation and the stability of his world at stake, Xalax hasn’t got a moment to spare. He decides to attend the auction house to see if he can find a suitable candidate. When he sees Resa he is immediately intrigued by her and becomes protective of her when he sees that she is being humiliated. He can’t help bidding for her, spending far more than he should have… but he had to make her his! Add in a conspiracy, traitors, danger, a set-up, lots of heat, and incredible chemistry- and this story really takes off! The ending left room for another book(s)- so I can’t wait to resume this story as soon as possible. Well done!
This book was okay. I mostly enjoyed it, but I also know that I would never read it again or recommend it. I never really ended up caring much about the characters or what was going on even though it was pretty interesting. And at one point I got really ticked off at Resa because she was just so goddamn stupid.
So at some point Earth was attacked by bad aliens and a race of warrior aliens came and defeated them. What they demand in return is genetically compatible females. Resa is one such female. Since she was young, she knew what her fate would be and it was actually rather amazing at how well she accepted it. What happens when the Earth females reach age is that they are taken, stripped of their clothes and dignity, and then paraded around in front of the males at an auction house. With the compatible ones getting a much closer look. Resa finds herself trapped with one of the biggest creepers about to be violated when rescue comes from a most unexpected person.
Xalax is crown prince of his people with his coronation not far off what with his father having been missing for such a long time. There is a stipulation though. He must find a mate. Because females of his kind are so rare (and those born are horribly deformed), mates are found in compatible humans. So it's off to the auction house he goes. And he knows immediately he wants Resa even if the DNA tests say they are not compatible.
At first, Xalax is the only one to show her any respect but the longer Resa is at the palace, and the more she works with some of them, she ends up befriending a couple more. During the day she works with them restoring giant statues of the founders and at night she gets to know Xalax more and he also teaches her more about his own history. Resa can't help but fall for the prince who might have bought her, but also saved her. But not everyone is happy with this relationship or how their people are being led. Leading to an attempted coup with Resa ending up in the middle of it. And while the tests might say they are incompatible, Xalax and Resa are true bond mates and Xalax will stop at nothing to get her back, keep her safe, and destroy those out to harm those he loves.
The ending was ridiculously abrupt. It just ended in what felt like the middle of a chapter with no actual ending. It's not even a cliffhanger. And it doesn't really make me want to read the next one either.
Not the best Sci-Fi romance I have read, but not the worst either. It does end quite abruptly and left me wondering what the outcome was to a problem (can't elaborate as it will be a spoiler). I assume there will be answers in the next book but as for the main characters, Resa and Xalax, this is their story and can be read as a standalone. The author does offer a "bonus chapter" on the coronation of the prince at the end of the book but I am undecided as yet. I also would have preferred the aliens to look and act a bit more alien other than their skin colour but that is a personal preference.
Resa is a human female from earth who was "marked" at a young age as being compatible to become a future mate of one of the Zalaryn (alien) males. When the time comes to auction, it is the Prince, Xalax, whose attention she grabs most. Xalax decides to buy her even though they are supposedly not compatible. There are issues of trust and betrayal that come into play but ultimately it ends in a hea.
There is a good amount of steam but not too much and as far as fast reads go, well thought out plot. Written from a dual pov, with no cheating and as previously mentioned, can be read as a standalone.
Ok listen. I can put up with a lot of silliness when it comes to speculative romance. A LOT. I enjoy campy, rompy SFF sexy funtimes. But like. Writing quality is still important. As usual? Just because it's alien peen doesn't mean you can just throw some words at a wall and call it a book? Ok, maybe that's a little harsh but come on now. The writing was so basic and poor, it was like I was reading a mediocre student's creative writing project. Sorry, still harsh. I'm trying to pull it back. This wasn't offensively bad like some things I've picked up, but I was underwhelmed. Actually, underwhelmed about sums up my feelings about this. I do have to point out that I really did not appreciate the beginning of the book when she was being prepared to be SOLD TO SOME STRANGE ALIEN and she got aroused from seeing herself in that state. Girl just got pulled from her life and could expect molestation at best. Getting excited isn't really a normal reaction. I had hardly been introduced to her and I could see that this was out of character. Also, there wasnt nearly enough character and relationship development for me to believe they loved each other so quickly. I did not buy it.
I’ve been struggling with these quick reads lately but I will say I did like this one a bit more than the last few books I’ve been reading but still nothing crazy or anything that really hooked me.
The alien race in this series didn’t care one bit for human beings they seemed very stuck up and showed no respect for females, aside from our hero the majority of this race just wanted to rape all human women.
As for the characters themselves I thought they were fine and their relationship was fine but it really lacked something or anything to make me fall in love with them or their relationship, this felt very much like a “we’re in love because we tell you we’re in love” type of book. I didn’t feel much of a connection between the characters other than the author telling you there’s a connection.
Overall I’ve read the same type of story done better but I will say I did want to see what happened to these characters despite the plot going in a very predictable direction, it kept my attention more than the last 3 or 4 books I’ve read have so that’s gotta count for something!
This book is about Resa, who is a marked female, meaning she is to be given to the alien race that protected earth from destruction. Although Earth is heavily destroyed in the process and forced to resort to less technological times. The part where she is taken from earth and brought to the auction house, is too "graphic" I guess for me. Had trouble reading through the first chapter of the book. However I am glad I did because it got a lot better once she and her prince get to know one another.
I took off a point because although you could call it a complete book, it does stop suddenly. I expect there will be another book in the series but I feel there could be alittle more "closure" added and still leave a cliff hanger. If she is looking for a lead off for the next one.
Given all this, by the end, I was anxiously waiting to find out what happens!
A bit simple. The heroine has a bit of a passive role. She has personality and can be fierce but she doesn't say much and I find it lacking. The sex scenes are short and unfulfilling. The hero is more interesting in his complexity.
Spoilers afterward.
I would have love to have a bit more action for the heroine. For example, at the end of the book, she fights of her attackers but is overpowered. Her mate arrived just in time to rescue her but she doesn't do anything. At that point, she is full of adrenaline and I would have like her to stab the bastard who captured her and tried to rape her. She should be all worked up and should at least kick his dead body ! And why doesn't she ask her husband why he apologizes ? And apologizes herself because she didn't believe in him ? She think about it but doesn't tell him anything. It's frustrating...
There were no connection between the main characters. The heroine was an idiot🙄 and so was the "king".I would have liked to see them interact more instead of being told they interacted. That's why I felt there wasn't any connection. I did like that they waited awhile after he purchased her before having sex but he did manipulate her into giving it up🤦🏽♀️ I really didn't see any romance taking place either. I gave it 2 stars because of the drama the traitors brought to the story and that kept me entertained. However the ending sucked. The reader never finds out if the traitors' plan worked or did the king's. It looks like we'd have to read the second book which I declined after reading its blurb. The heroine walks around with a collar and leash in that book... no thanks🙅🏽♀️ I don't recommend this book.
Oh just NO. -So, I usually love a good “Growly Space-hunk struck by insta-LOVE for a tiny yet sassy human abductee”- read. IF there a bit of fun tossed in. Preferably some cheeky sarcasm and lots of poking fun at them selves, love the space crazy feel of K. C. Cross, Ruby Dixon, Ella Maven’s books. So to compare… this is NO SUCH THING. This is unfortunately boring AF and takes itself way too seriously. There’s too much story building, weirdo alien-language and background info crammed into the first few chapters. I just can’t connect with the characters and couldn’t care less what happens to them.
Audiobook: Not a fan of the stern school mistress voice that’s portraying a 20 yo earth girl. He’s fine, although a bit stiff 😉 Perk: Narrator reading out binary code as numbers killed the book 🤭
What a great start to the series and introduction to the writer's work. The writing is well done. Enjoyable solid storyline and well developed characters. The author takes time to develop and share the characters personalities so that I, as the reader could connect with them and feel like was in the story. I read the story in a day so it's a quick read. This story feels like a proper romance story with a slow steady burn as the story goes along. It doesn't feel rushed or contrived. The world building is acceptable and the romantic scenes are politely satisfactory. Happily going onto the next installment. Look for a complete review on Who She Reads once I finish the series.
Intriguing eroica slien abduction romance naned Zalaryns whose Crown Prince Xalax is obsessed with Risa being his mate. Their females sicken with terrible condition that makes them infertile.
Xalax is different from others, even giving Risa clothing and a job restoring statutes.
Then they uncovered signs of somebody leading to war to regain Zalaryns's glory. Risa is kidnapped, but can Xalax save her?
The characters are intriguing, erotically sexy, and have personalities that are believable. A fast paced suspense drama keeps reader engaged. I like the society of barbarians who didn't know how to express emotions themselves.
I had trouble with this because of the treatment of women, as objects,(yes I know it’s fiction... but still) it also felt so rushed and their version of “love” was more lust than anything. The story needed to be develop more on the (spoilers here) and also that ending was bad. It’s like the author gave up on the story. Also you have to subscribe in order to read the extra chapter and find out what happen after finding out about certain looming war. Or maybe we need to read all three books to connect the dots? I would also like to point out that the author kept saying “Or whatever”...seriously is she into Bretman Rock or whatever 🙄🙄🙄
Be ready for some harsh treatment of women in this book. The earth is in rough shape, but still around thanks to the Zalaryns. They came to the rescue when earth was attacked. But now earth has to provide females that have the right DNA. They are checked as kids and are known as marked. Such is the life of Resa until she turns 20 and is taken away. This story is about Resa and the Crown Prince Xalax, soon to be king. She captured his attention and then his heart. But with treason and a war coming their story is complicated. Parts of the story were hard to understand but still a good book. The ending had its HEA for Resa and Xalax but there still is was coming.
I’m not sure I would have finished the book. As another reviewer points out, it’s written in a very basic and therefore stilted way. The ending is also abrupt. But the readers did a decent job with the material and it was short. Shorter than I normally borrow from Hoopla. In any case, it was interesting how earth had gone through a catastrophic war and in two generations forgotten things like DNA and smart phones, while reverting to fanaticism. The latter isn’t really addressed, just hinted at in the description of how fertile women are given as tribute to the unholy (my word) aliens. Not sure I’ll continue the series, even though there’s a set up for the next.
I'm sad to say I didn't love this one. Generally, I love an alien x human romance story but this one missed the mark on a few fronts. I think most sci fi romances begin from questionable circumstances, and gives us lots of room for an enemies to lovers character arc - but I don't feel like the male main character was redeemed enough in this story for me to feel ultimately invested in the relationship.
There were a lot of elements in the back story which I liked but I don't feel like enough happened in present day to make me like the characters.
Overall, the premise was great and there is a lot of potential for the series but I don't plan to continue with it.
I've read hundreds of these types of stories, some good , some bad, and many barely readable. This author brought a few new ideas to my attention and I found it interesting enough to finish the book. The story at times, seemed believable and possible. I also had moments where I felt the fiction was unbelievable and I wanted to quit reading it. As you can see I slogged through, but to be honest, I don't know if I'll continue this series.
I didn't particularly care for how they portrayed humans in this book. It seemed like it was close to our current time now, well several generations after. But I find it hard to believe we would give up so much of our education in two or three generations.
There was a lot of repeated sentences. Thoughts. Things of that nature. It got tiresome.
Otherwise, I thought it was a decent enough book. Interesting, kept my attention. But I don't think I will read the others in the series.
This was my first alien romance book. It was very similar to other paranormal romance books I’ve read. Rest is marked and is sent to an alien planet to be sold and mated to the aliens there. She meets Xalax and he has to have her. He’s the prince. They bond/mate and she begins to like him. There’s some unrest in the government and some drama from that too. It kind of ends in a cliffhanger, but the relationship parts is resolved.
I read a lot of different stories and I liked this one. It's the first I read from this author and I am looking forward to reading more. Resa is from earth and "marked" to be sent to another planet due to her compatibility of her DNA. She's brought to an auction house to be sold but what she gets is more then she expected. If you like different I think you will like this book.
