This is an espionage thriller that takes readers around the world following along as Jack Grant, known as Gorilla, is brought in to find the Master. I haven't read the other books in this series, but felt this could be read easily as a stand alone. The author does a good job with the feel of this thriller and I also felt like he has the inside track when it comes to espionage. Although I usually don't read spy thrillers, I felt this book was more than your average novel by Tom Clancy or others like that.
First my critical comments. One, Puerto Vallarta is not south of Mexico City, it is slightly northwest. Second Thompson Submachine Guns did not, in the 1930s or beyond into WWII where they were used extensively, come in 9mm. They were chambered then, as most still are, in 45 ACP. Always I want to give an author five stars for their efforts, and when the book is well presented the award is also to the publisher. In this case the mistakes I mention were too glaring to permit the five star award. And I blame the publisher as much as the author. Research by the author could have cured these problems for me and other readers. Attention to detail by the publishers and their editing staff, could have done the same. Neither completed the job. Now for the kudos. The book is well presented, does not contain a lot of mechanical errors, or grammatical mistakes, and is eminently readable if you find this type of story to your liking. I have read two of the Grant series of three. I thought both to be a little too violent, but that is my take only. Gratuitous violence and sex sells I guess. There is plenty of both in this story of intrigue and revenge or as the author calls it, redaction. The story concludes in and acceptable manner and leaves open another Grant and Eunice sequel. Generally, well done with the criticisms already offered.
The first two novels in the series, A Game for Assassins and Sentinel Five, were excellent and really well written. Good plots, great character development and surprises along the way. You wanted to read the next chapter. The novella, Gorilla Warfare, was a step up again, really tense, quick and relentless - really enjoyable. However, I regret that this addition didn't live up to its predecessors. Something was missing from it and as a result it came across as yet another generic thriller. I remember the first three clearly, even a long time after reading them, which says a lot for me; if I can remember it a month after finishing, it's good. Rogue Wolves though, I'd forgotten within days. For me it was the setting, and the Master came across as one dimensional. Also, the tedious "beautiful but deadly romantic interest" blah blah yawn. However, kudos for the character development of the bounty hunter, that was done well. It's the oh so predictable way they get together that didn't work for me - the fact they got together at all didn't work. Hopefully book #4 will return the series to its strengths.

Rogue Wolves, the new James Quinn book, is his best thus far. A twisting tale of international intrigue, Quinn has introduced a new, strong female character, Nikita, who is Gorilla Grant's equal as a spy and tracker of bad guys. The reader also gets a new look at both Gorilla Grant and the world in which he operates. As I have said before, if you like Ian Fleming, Robert Ludlum, or John LeCarre, you will have a new favorite in Jack Grant. Be prepared for a thrilling ride. You won't have brakes.
I enjoyed the plot and the twists and turns although I did feel Jack was continually outclassed by Caravaggio until the end - but that’s life sometimes too, the sneakiest wins! I’m in love with Eunice, having a thing for beautiful redheads and I highly recommend this as an entertaining read (when reading fiction, I don’t analyse every detail and emotion, I just enjoy the action). Nicely done Mr Quinn.
An outstanding and dramatically complex book depicting the lives of two dedicated and mutually attracted assassins with the I'd d nticaltask of tracking and taking out "The Master" , a well known annd highly dangerous assassin himself, who had overreached himself by attempting to blackmail two of his previous employers in an audacious extortion attempt. Will heremain " The Master" or is his supreme reign coming to its tense and climatic finale ?
If you like the kind of brawny, barely-credible men's adventure allegedly written by someone from the "inside" of the military/intelligence world, you'll probably like this book a great deal more than I did. It's not horrible, but it does all feel rather Extra Super Macho, including the Woman Love Interest Who is the Hero's Equal -- Who becomes the Damsel-in-Distress in the final act.
Fast paced storyline that captures you Immediately! The best written, enjoyable read ever. Characters are completely developed and capture your immagination. I found myself trying to foresee their next move and not being able to put it down. I am a new Quinn fan and look forward to reading all his books. Enjoyable!
Fasten your seatbelt as this scarily authentic sounding author leads you through a whirlwind tour of the globe as contract killers chase after one of their own- the best of them! I found the characters compelling, and found myself rooting for the protagonists as they appear to be outwitted at every step. You will not be able to set this book aside until you have finished it!
Fast paced, well structured and an easy read. The often brutal detail of killing was offset by the emergence of a credible love story. The end of the story leaves room for a sequel which will, I'm sure, be as exiting as was this story.
I'm sure this plot is very close to real. Can't imagine we allow these things.to.happen. This is an exciting story of secrets, murder for hire, government secrets and more. Two assassins find power in working together as well as the strength of love.
I absolutely lived this book and the story was superbly told ! I'm going to be looking for more of your books and will lose myself for a few days in them ! Please just don't stop ok !? Lorraine King
Eunice 'Nikita' & Jack 'Gorilla' Grant all the way!
Spy hunting the spy. Not an easy task when experts of the same field are pitted against each other. Rogue Wolves certainly gives the 'Kick' that one expects out of a spy thriller.
A Love Story, An International Spy Story Combined!
Fellow readers, be sure to read the author's bio and you'll know why his writing is so realistically spellbinding! He has only added the spice of fiction to many real life experiences and a masterful creative touch!
Very disappointing! I often get suckered by Amazon's free or discounted books, and there's a high failure rate with them. In this case the story sounded intriguing, if not very original, so it all depends on how it's done. Not very well here. Overuse of hyperbole and exclamation marks quickly became annoying, and thin writing didn't help. I gave up after 3 or 4 chapters, there are plenty of other authors who to this super spy thriller much better than this.
Simply want for me. I don't know why I tried to read this book. These spy-assassin-espionage stories are not in my wheelhouse. I got bored after 4 chapters and jumped to the end. I'm sure it's a fine book for someone else but for me it just didn't keep my interest.

In another very good international chase Gorilla teams up with Nikita to chase down another world class assassin. Pretty good story. And of course it wouldn't be an international thriller without CIA and the French SDECE doing their manipulations.
Just getting into this story, but so far it is going great. The best part for me is when Gorilla got his Asp. I got mine in 1973 from Paris Theodore. I was on the New Castle Police Department in Detective Division. I will say that it was and still is a great firearm. On to finish this read..
Crafty calculated schemes designed to win. Life or death situations from beginning to end. Love, romance and deception in every plot... Writing to wish for
Started the book during the "social distancing" time, great way to spend down time, I didn't want to take any breaks ... Very good character development,
