➳A sheriff that takes what he wants, and when he finds the woman that will take his heart, there is no turning back from making her his...
➳Cole and Catherine have become my ultimate favorite characters by Alexa Riley, and that says something because I love the majority of AR's books and their filthy, but beautiful characters. This story however, was different in a way that makes you attracted to not only Cole but also the backstory that Catherine has had with the issues from her parents.
➳This story is smut to the next level of tenderness. One in which I read for a second time, right after finishing it for the first time. There is an age difference in which some may find repulsive, but to me I saw it as something that makes you question the control that Cole has had over the women that throw themselves at him. That obviously stops after he meets Catherine one cold night outside her old house that is now owned by the bank because her father past away and the bills just kept coming in and she could not take care of them. For Cole however, her presence is one that he finds alluring and in a way mystical to him since his body acts in ways that is unknown to his knowledge. His need to protect Catherine and make sure she falls in love with him is something that is not knew in regards to AR's writing, but it is always welcomed to my eyes when reading it as I find it endearing.
➳Overall, this insta-love romance story has me melting for more. AR's is releasing another book next week and my fingers are itching for it. I will never get tired of their smutty books that always have me salivating for the possessive, alpha males they both create. Thank you AR for letting me read an advance copy of this beauty. Make sure to grab yourself a copy!

Alexa Riley at their best! I love a good ol classic Alexa Riley story. This one gave me so many of my favorite things - instalove, possessive alpha. older man/younger woman, hero wasn't a manwhore and had been celibate for years..... it checked a LOT of my boxes!
HERO~ Cole was an amazing hero. He was an all around good guy. He was brave and sweet, he served his country and now his town as Sheriff and boy did he love his momma. Described as the town's golden boy. I picture him as the hunky boy next door type. He showed manners with the momma's trying to push their daughters on him and dodged the women throwing themselves at him. He wasn't interested in it one bit.
HEROINE~Catherine was mature for 18. That happens when circumstances force you to grow up fast. She was just trying to get through life. She kept her head down and attempted to stay off of everyone's radar. I love that she didn't play games by pushing Cole away and she trusted and believed in him.
SEXUAL HISTORY~ Cole had been celibate for years and Catherine was a virgin.
OM DRAMA ~ a boy in school hit on Catherine and tried to attack her
OW DRAMA~ A couple women flirted and one woman boldly let herself into his house and waited for him in het bra and panties (who does that - especially to a guy who has blatantly shot her down)
STEAM plenty of steam staring around 35%
VIOLENCE a guy in Catherine's class tries to force himself on her
SECONDARY CHARACTERS I really liked Cole's mom. I also was hoping that Cole's coworkers Asher and Pam might get a story??

Terrific... Because Alexa Riley has just published a new book and it is calling out to you.
This had all of the usual elements plus more character development... at least with the fella. If you are wondering... It did the trick. A Perfect Diversion.

“Am I in trouble now?” “No. If anyone is in trouble it’s me.”
Mini Review: Lovely cover! The story was longer than usual; have some conflicts. The age gap is quite normal (ten years apart). Quite enjoyable despite some cringe-y moments. Such as, the sheriff is horny when he met the girl for the first time. Sheriff has a raging on while he help her undressing (because she has no underwear. Pft!) but he didn't harass her right away. Insta-love and baby batter as always.
This was a cute short story. Between a possessive sheriff and a lost, sweet girl trying to survive. I enjoyed it and had a great time reading all the ways they got dirty and hot between the sheets! ;p
I didn't enjoy it as much this go around. The age gap made me a bit uncomfy. I get that Catherine was 18, but she was still a high school student with the town sheriff. I really wish she would have been aged up to at least 20.
All in all, it was still sweet and had a good alpha hero, I just wished she was older.
Hot cop saves the young girl who is down and out, and on her own. It’s 96% alpha smut, and the other bit is a sweet story, but mainly smut. So if you’re looking for that, then you’ve found the right book.
I read this as a sort of bedtime story last night and boy, the authors once again delivered!
Catherine has had it rough what with her father's drinking problem and him suddenly disappearing. But never more so than now that his Army checks have stopped coming in (he's a veteran). Since she wanted to avoid the foster system back when she was a minor, she's found ways to stay alive. This is getting trickier and trickier, however - and then a snowstorm hits her town on top of everything. Luckily, former Army Ranger and all-round Golden Boy Cole Bannon is there to save the day.
The heat is almost never the problem with Alexa Riley and certainly wasn't here. What I do find a pity is that this was just a short story instead of several as they did with "Taking the Fall". Because this could have been great as a series of 4 such stories since there was so much to write about the town, the people and all the stuff that was happening.
Nevertheless, very enjoyable sexy times, very likeable characters and a cool (literally) setting, which immediately made this one of my favourite AR stories.
Totally in love with the blurb and this blue hue sweet cover. GIMME!
"Keeping her Warm" is the story of Catherine and Cole. Lately I have had a bit of disconnect with AR books due to monotony, but finally it has been broken by this one! We had a gorg cover, a good story, drama, evil bitchy OM/OW, a protective hero, a sweet heroine, some good lovemaking, breeding and a HEA with a cute epilogue. I love that in light of the #metoo movement, the authors decided to talk about sexual assault/bullying and actually bring forward the dbag instead of their usual sweet-no tension plots. Safe 3.5/5
Catherine is a poor girl living in terrible conditions. She has no food, no water, no clothes, no shelter. Cole, the town sheriff finds her and helps her and protects her. They fall in love but there is some light angst. Sweet and sexy story with two lovable characters! I loved Cole’s possessiveness. Cat was a virgin and Cole celibate for years. Epilogue with their 2 kids and pregnant heroine was perfection. Another winner by Alexa Riley.
These books are hard to review because I feel like they can be hit or miss for everyone. For me, given how short it was, I wish there wasn't so much random OP drama and that the focus was more on the couple. But regardless I still really enjoyed this one 😍
I absolutely totally completely loved this story!!! This had everything that you come to expect in an Alexa Riley story—insta-love, alpha male hotness, older man/younger woman, dirty steamy hot scenes, innocent sweet virgin and the best thing –HEA. Catherine was left alone at 16 after her father disappeared on her and she didn’t have anyone to depend on. She had only herself so she made due. She was planning on graduating high school and getting out of the town and moving away since she is now 18 but her hope pretty much disappears. Its winter time and she finds the door to her home boarded and nailed shut. She has been barely surviving on things she can take without anyone noticing…but she knows her luck has just about run out. Cole is the sheriff and he is good man. He is recovering from injuries received in the military. He is a sexy, rugged man who has been celibate for some time. When Cole saves Catherine from the snowstorm, something about her instantly tells him she's it for him. He immediately takes her to his home and that really gets this story going. Cole and Catherine have this beautiful love story. There is an age difference yet it enhances the story and shows age is just a number. I loved how Cole went to work at showing Catherine how she really meant everything to him; how he cared for her and would be there for her no matter what. I felt so much for all Catherine had been thru. This story really hit the mark with me. I think if there was anything I would say as a minor sour note would be there was no resolution as to where Catherine’s father went to or where her mom ended up. That was left unfinished. Otherwise this was a solid home run winner read for me.
My Rating: 4.9 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
I don't want to read about barely 18 year old virgins with old men anymore. Isn't there anything other to write about? It gets old.
I read half of the book and I felt a bit uncomfortable. The scene when hero undresses unconscious heroine (she doesn't have any underwear on) and of course he looks his fill. Nope.
I love couples with an age difference. 10 or 20 years? No problem. But only when the heroine is older, 25 or 30 or even 35. And she doesn't need to be a virgin. This seems so old fashioned and stuffy. And a Hero who "needs" to be with an 18 year old girl (I don't care if she's really really mature for her age), well good for you. But it's not my idea of a likable hero.
It's just my personal opinion. As I get older and read more books, I've come to notice such things that don't work for me anymore.

Short, sweet, and super duper sexy. The 28 year old “golden boy” sheriff rescues the 18 year old, down-on-her-luck beauty. Naughty but not gross/weird. Perfect, fun story to spend an evening reading. Enjoy!
-Celibate H -Virgin h -10 year age gap -no pushing away -mild OW Drama from women who Want H (he wants nothing to do with them) -Insta love -OTT alpha male -HEA with epilogue
I’m so disappointed 😔... I don’t like it when the heroine is so young( like high school young) and the hero is 10 years older... it’s kinda sick and I’m not in to that kind of stuff. I don’t know why I keep trying with these authors.
I loved this one. It was sweet, sexy with a bit of drama. I loved how crazily obsessive Cole was with Catherine. No one going to stop him to be with his girl. But then again, I shouldn't expected nothing else from Alexa.
