Blogger Girl #3

Bridal Girl

Rate this book
Sassy book blogger-turned-author, Kim Long, thought her life couldn’t get any pinker when she received a two-book publishing deal and a marriage proposal in the same night.

If only she could drown out the conflicting opinions of her overzealous bridal party.

If only everyone would adore her first book—or she’d take Nicholas’s advice and stop reading reviews.

If only Nicholas’s past would remain there rather than threaten their future.

The pressure is on and the clock is ticking. Will Kim ever write “The End” on her sophomore novel? And, will she and Nicholas make it down the aisle to say those two precious words: “I do?”

Put on your reading glasses, fill your champagne flute and prepare to laugh with (and sometimes at) Kim as she rewrites her happy ending until it’s worthy of five pink champagne flutes.

A born and bred New Yorker and lifelong daydreamer, Meredith Schorr fueled her passion for writing everything from restaurant reviews, original birthday cards, and even work-related emails into a career penning romantic comedies. When she’s not writing books filled with grand gestures and hard-earned happily-ever-afters or working as a trademark paralegal, she’s most often reading, running, or watching TV…for research, of course.

Thank you for taking a look at Bridal Girl. Although the novel is the third in a series, it can absolutely stand alone. I've provided some back story to help new readers familiarize themselves with the characters, but not so much as to bore returning fans of the series.

This book was SO much fun to write. I adore these characters. and while I put them through hell with a healthy dose of comical conflict, I hope you'll appreciate how I wrapped things up. Please reach out to me and let me know what you think as I love hearing from readers.

Meredith Schorr wraps up the Blogger Girl trilogy with heart, humor, and lots of zigs and zags on the road to her heroine's happily ever after. Having read the first two books in the series, I felt like I was being reunited with old friends when I started this story and I couldn't stop smiling! Kim Long is just as lovable and calamity-prone as ever and her fiancé Nicholas is still totally swoon-worthy. They're planning their wedding in conjunction with Kim trying to write her second book. You can imagine how well that works out! There's all kinds of family/friend drama that keeps interrupting the bride-to-be's attempts to check things off her wedding to-do list, and to make matters more stressful, she finds herself suffering from a sophomore book writing slump. Will Kim be able to pull off this wedding and deliver a book to her editor without having a complete breakdown?

I could SO relate to everything Kim goes through with her writing in this book. Everything from feeling like a fraud who's out of her depth with other authors to wanting to slit her wrists over a bad review--been there, done that. I felt great empathy for Kim as she struggled to come up with story ideas/characters that would please everyone, including herself (it's not possible!). Trying to deal with all of that on top of wedding planning? YIKES Kim ends up receiving support and encouragement from the unlikeliest of places, and I was so proud of her when she finally stood up to the people who were causing her grief. I will admit to reading the last chapter of this book with tears in my eyes because I'm a big sap (ha!).

Bridal Girl is a must-read for RomCom fans, and I highly recommend this book (it can easily be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and check out Blogger Girl and Novelista Girl too!). I'm satisfied with how Kim's story wrapped up and how much growth the character had throughout the series. Now I'm hoping for a spin-off starring Kim's high school frenemy/publishing "mentor," Hannah Marshak, who stole every scene she was in in Bridal Girl. Whatever Meredith Schorr writes next, I will be one-clicking!

I have read the previous two books by Meredith Schorr in this Blogger Girl series. Blogger Girl and Novelista Girl were brilliant, and Bridal Girl follows in the same steps. All books can be read as standalone, but as always the previous ones are great to read too. Personally I loved Novelista Girl best.
Bridal Girl follows Kim and Nicolas’ Wedding preparations, which take place at the same time that Kim is writing her second novel. Both are time sensitive and as is typically Meredith Schorr style, the laughter, mix ups and debacles that follow Kim are perfect for this Blogger Girl 3rd book.
If you have read the previous books in this series, you will be familiar with Hannah Marshak, former Mean Girl. Hannah had to make an appearance in this book, and she did so brilliantly.
My favourite part of this book was where Kim talks about her writing and we learn about her publishing experience. There are funny and heart warming moments, and I wonder if many of these experiences are relatable in the Author’s personal experiences. Meredith writes smoothly and believably, drawing the reader right into Kim’s life and emotions.
I don’t want to give spoilers, but there was something that niggled both Kim and I through part of the book, and when the turn of events became apparent, it left Kim and I in a state of giggles! If you have read this book, I’m sure you will know which part I’m talking about.
The characters of Kim and her best friends Bridget and Caroline are brilliant. They have a wonderfully special relationship together. And as the tale continues, the Author and reader side of Kim and her friends are so obvious. This is the part of Kim that made me love her right from the first book.
“She nodded and removed her e reader from her purse. Her habit of reading anytime and anywhere she had a free moment was almost as bad as mine.”
I would like to finish my review with this super photo! When I saw this on my kindle, I did quite a woop of joy! A mention of thanks to me, from the lovely and talented Author Meredith Schorr. Thank you for mentioning me, it means a lot.

Once again, Meredith Schorr has brought me back into Kim's world and taken me away from real life each time because I was so absorbed. I enjoyed revisiting with Kim, Nicholas, Bridget, and even Hannah. It was interesting to see what an author goes through after their first book is published, while they are trying to write their second. I have to wonder if this was based on Meredith's life because all her books seem effortless. Like she magically conjured something amazing out of thin air each time.

There were some aspects of the story that I was able to guess at correctly, but other things completely took me by surprise. I like how Meredith kept me guessing until the very end as to how the wedding would turn out or what would happen with Kim's second book. There were other little things that had me gasping out loud! And, of course, I was laughing or tearing up at various times. (Sometimes all at once.)

I don't want to say too much more as to not spoil anything, but if you enjoyed the first two books in the series, you're definitely in for a treat. I only hope Meredith will follow this up with Mother Girl. I can't get enough of Kim!

More casting selections (my review of Blogger Girl has the main cast):

Natalie: Lucy Hale
Tiffany: Hayden Panettiere
Jonathan: Penn Badgley
Caroline: Lyndsy Fonseca

Kimmie and Nicholas are back, and I couldn't be happier.... I love this couple and couldn't wait to read this book. Fortunately, I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED this book! It was great to see a new "chapter" in Kim and Nicholas's lives as well as how their relationship changed. The couple experienced lots of challenges, and some comedies of errors, which kept me turning the page. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I also loved the side stories with the supporting characters. I'm not sure if there is another book planned in this series, but I sure hope so.

As in all of her books, Meredith Schorr's quick wit and snazzy writing style shined through. There were many times I laughed out loud!

Kim Long aka Blogger Girl is finally getting married to the man of her dreams and everything is on track or it should be, but it's not and the months leading up to her wedding date will be crazy and rocky. Kim still hasn't picked a wedding dress and when she does, she finds herself with a wedding party that all have strong opinions of what she should be wearing. She has her sister who has a bad attitude to boot, her Fiance's sister and now Tiffany - who used to date Nicholas back in high school and keeps butting into Kim's wedding plans and putting her 2 cents in which is making Kim very nervous as is this Tiffany's plan to win back Nicholas? Her first book received amazing reviews and now her second book is due soon and Kim is having a severe case of writer's block and the deadline for the chapters is ticking down and she has nothing to show. With all the pressure Kim is putting on herself, her friends are ready to call an intervention as if Kim gets her way, she will have been finding herself with no second book and no husband? If you are looking for a good chick lit read, are an author or book blogger yourself - then Meredith Schorr's Blogger Girl is the series for you and PS - I loved the name of Kim's book blog "Pastel is the New Black".

I loved this book! While you don't have to read the first two books to enjoy this one, I think it definitely helps as you see the progression of the friendships, relationships, and even rivalry between authors.

I've followed Kim's career in this series and have often wondered what it would be like to take a blogging career and become an author. Granted I do not have the writing skills (or desire) to write a book but admire those that can and do create those works for us to enjoy.

Kim is still insecure about her writing and keeps reading reviews and if they are negative takes it to heart. I get it, the book is her baby and anything negative is hard to read. But at the same time, not all books are for everyone. It was nice to see her growth and understanding of that as the book progressed.

Then there is her relationship with Nicholas, the fiance. They both have moments where you want to shake them and tell them to grow up...but that is what makes the book interesting, the conflict and communication snafus.

I found myself laughing and crying throughout the book and it was the perfect book to read at that moment in time. If you like chick-lit I think you will enjoy this book.

As the third book in the Blogger Girl series, Bridal Girl had a lot to live up to, but Meredith knocked this one out of the park. I loved the first two books, but I absolutely adored this one. I am so attached to these characters, and getting to spend more time with them while reading this book was like catching up with an old friend you haven't seen in a while.

As the title implies, Kim and Nicholas are planning their wedding, and with that comes all of the stress and anxiety that (I hear) is typical for planning the perfect wedding. On top of that, she's struggling to finish her next novel.

One of my favorite parts of this series is that the main character's life isn't perfect. She has flaws, as do the supporting characters, and they all have their own problems. It's refreshing to read a book where the main character isn't presented as perfect with a picture-perfect life.

Another of my favorite things about this series is the humor. Bridal Girl is laugh-out-loud funny!

With excellent pacing, wonderful character development, and captivating writing, Bridal Girl is a smart, hilarious, and ultimately sweet addition to the Blogger Girl series.

I feel like I know Kim Long, the Heroine in Bridal Girl. When I read Blogger Girl, Meredith's first book in the Blogger Girl Series I related to Kim in so many ways, from the writing of reviews to the dealing with publishers and trying to live your true, honest self. Not only are Meredith's books totally relatable, they are smart, funny and full of real life. In Bridal Girl Kim, now author has to deal with so many things coming at her, much like we all do when we live our dreams or strive for what we want, plus an impending wedding! Its always a fun fiasco- family, friends, book deals! Chick Lit or Rom-Com, whatever your choice of verbiage, Meredith Schorr writes from the heart, and adds a lot of humor, smarts and real life experiences where you feel like you are a friend, in the book, rooting for Kim! I can't recommend this book enough. I think what many people need to know about the chick lit genre is that is funny, it's fun, the heroine is strong, smart and not perfect. It's all of us, Kim Long is us,  trying to do what we love, while LIFE happens. If you like Jennifer Crusie or Jen Lancaster you will absolutely love Meredith Schorr. I will read anything she writes, and I'm a tad picky. The series rocks, it can also be Stand alone and and are fast, fun reads. Meredith has become my go to chick-lit writer. She's my "save me after this intense thriller and bring me back to crazy normal" author. 5 stars and already anticipating her next novel.

After getting to know Kimmie Long through Blogger Girl and Novelista Girl, I have to say that I had pretty specific hopes for BRIDAL GIRL by Meredith Schorr. This book is my favorite of the three. The humor is on point and shows the opposite of a Bridezilla for a refreshing twist. It is awesome how the wedding brings out the claws in the wedding party though and all the situations that Kimmie ends up experiencing with her friends and family were so enjoyable to read (especially since they are happening to someone else!) I simply adored Nicholas in this one as well. This book is great Chick Lit – it has an engaging storyline with developed characters (that you like and dislike), and romance with the right amount of detail. I’ve said before that I love this genre for its humor and escapism and I really think that Meredith Schorr will forever be a part of my favorites list. I just feel good after I read her books.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I loved, loved, loved this book! I loved this so much that I extended silent reading time for my students so that I could also read. Good modeling, right?

I adored the characters and the way the were written with LARGE personalities. I love the friendship between Bridget and Kim. I wanted to bitchslap the sisters at certain points but who doesn’t want to slap a sister at some point?

On a more serious note, I like how the author wrote about real life experiences that are at the same time wonderful and terrible. Planning a wedding is, by far, the least fun thing I’ve ever done, so I felt for Kim during her struggle.

In this book we are learning about the main character’s life an as author. One review of the novel she published lead Kim to consider making her books deeper by adding a death, or something similar. I see this a lot on reviews of books. When you’re reading chick lit, why do we expect thereto be something so deep and profound? What I love most about chick lit is that it is light and breezy; it helps me escape from the day to day sludge of the world. This in no way should impact the review given to the book. You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit. And you definitely don’t take it out on the author for writing on their genre.

This book also made me think about how I approach reviews of books. Sometimes it’s easy to say “I hated this book because a,b and c.” Sometimes we don’t stop to think that the author is constantly checking those reviews and taking each one to heart. This book taught me to watch how I approach reviewing in the future. I’m a BIG fan of books that make me think, and this one did just that while telling a wonderful story.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I received and ARC and all thoughts are my own.

MY REVIEW OF “BRIDAL GIRL” BY MEREDITH SCHORR #Henery Press, April 2018

“Bridal Girl” by Meredith Schorr is a heartwarming, witty, delightful and charming novel. “Bridal Girl” is the third book in “The Blogger Girl Series”, but it can be read as a stand-alone. The Genres for this story are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, and Chick Lit.

I appreciate that Meredith Schorr describes her colorful cast of characters as complex, complicated, quirky, dysfunctional, loyal and mostly likable. I love the way the author describes the importance of family and friends, communication, love and hope.

Kim Long not only is marrying the man of her dreams, Nicholas, but is now a published author, attempting to write her second book. Kim is trying to plan her wedding, with the help of the parents, a few closed friends, and other family members that have a problem agreeing with anything. Why is Nicholas’s high school sweetheart suddenly involved in this planning? Why is Nicholas’s sister always with the girlfriend? How will Kim say “Yes” to the dress? Kim has looked at dresses several times, and an emergency of one sort or another comes up.

Kim has a deadline for her second book, and isn’t feeling it. If only Kim could stop reading the reviews and ratings for her first book. With the wedding date approaching, and the deadline for her book, how is Kim going to manage? Did you ever think that planning a wedding could be such a dramatic adventure? I would recommend this amusing and entertaining novel for those readers that appreciate Women’s Fiction. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Kim and Nicholas are about to get married. It's seven months until their wedding day and Kim is under a lot of stress with all that has to be done. Not only is she in the middle of planning her wedding, she is also just coming off releasing her first book and is working on the second. As part of her two-book deal with her publisher, she has to have a rough draft of the book in right before her nuptials. Will Kim and Nicholas be able to have the wedding they both dream of, or will the stress of everything going on be too much for them to handle?

Thank you to NetGalley and Henery Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Wedding season is among us. From now through the beginning of fall, finding a ballroom, limousine, or a bakery may prove very difficult.

Bridal Girl is the third book in the Blogger Girl Series. I have not read the other books in the series, but I did purchase them while reading this book. Kim Long is a blogger turned author. With such high success of her blog she decided to go ahead and write a book, the previous books give you details about this journey for Kim. Her first book was recently published and is up for it's second printing run. If Kim can stop looking at all of the negative reviews and focus on what is in front of her, she may be able to get book two out in time.

Luckily for Kim she has Nicholas. Nicholas and Kim are perfect together, they are each other support system. When Kim is overwhelmed with trying to find a dress that not only she will love, but that the rest of her bridal party agrees on too, Nicholas is there to be the shoulder to cry on and even offers to go dress shopping with her.

With ex-girlfriends, pregnancy, writers's block, frenemies, new editors, and life in general, will it all be too much for Kim to handle.

Get this book for your entire bridal party, for your friend getting married this year, for those thinking about writing a book. Heck, get the whole series.

Kimmie Long is a published author, on the path to marriage and embarking on her second novel. Everything's looking great—until her life slowly dissolves into pieces. Between the few bad reviews of her first novel that are shriveling up her new book's plot and focus, Nicholas' ex-girlfriend crashing every single wedding preparation event, and her inability to purchase a dress without a major fiasco, Kim is unraveling at the seams and realizing she bit off more than she can chew.

But Kim has friends. And they've got her back.

I loved, loved, loved the third book in the Blogger Girl series, particularly the secondary characters, who are—for the most part—wonderful and amazing. Hell, even Hannah of all people was kinda likeable. Nicholas even grew on me and was a supportive partner who tried to recover from his mistakes, push Kim to do better and comfort her in things got terrible—and bail her out of horrible situations (um, Kleinfelds, for example). Their relationship has definitely grown and matured and it was lovely to read.

One of the things I like about this series are the acute and clever insights into the world of writing, publishing and balancing a work-life-write lifestyle—which comes with a couple wink wink moments as the characters talk about the transition between authoring and blogging and also the wonderful advice of never reading your own reviews. The tie-ins between Kim's life and her books plot are also deliberately ironic, as her editor throws out an add-a-pregnancy-to-add-depth with the explanation that "chick lit doesn't need any dark elements of abortion or adoption talk" while at the same time a secondary character is dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. I'm very thankful that there were no cases of murder, arson or strokes, that ties in with the book to "spice it up," as I don't think my heart could take it.

I really hope that there's a spin off book about Hannah and Fred, because I need it now!

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

Let it be known I’m a huge Meredith Schorr fan–she’s my go-to author for when I want an escape. After reading BLOGGER GIRL and NOVELISTA GIRL, I, of course, had to read BRIDAL GIRL, the third book in the Blogger Girl Series. Words cannot begin to express how much I enjoyed this book, (though, I think the description could be stepped up a bit to give it all the credit it deserves). I often shook my head at Kim’s anxious behavior, which, most of the time, was brought on by things she just couldn’t control, (wedding planning, writing her next book, and family obstacles), but she wasn’t going to let anything stop her.

While Kim and Nicholas (my all-time favorite book boyfriend) struggle up to their wedding day, it’s obvious they are soulmates, and that nobody or anything could ever come between them. In this book, it’s obvious that Kim and Nicholas have matured–independently and together. I will not give spoilers, but there were times I laughed and cried, and then sometimes did both at the same time.

Meredith Shorr has done it again and can say that you will not be disappointed. If you’re looking for a feel-good, fun, and fast-paced page-turner, then I recommend “Bridal Girl,” and highly recommend you start with the first two book in the series.

I give this book 5 stars!

Did I enjoy this book? I really did enjoy Bridal Girl. It was such a fun story that I read every free chance I had.

I loved Blogger Girl and Novelista Girl, and I couldn’t wait to read Bridal Girl. I love Kim Long. Her relationship with Nick is fabulous. He is very supportive of her writing and blogging. And she supports him in his career as well. Their wedding planning was crazy–dress, flowers, cake, venue. So many problems popped up that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen or if their wedding was actually going to take place. What a ride! I really wanted Kim to have her happily ever after. I kept reading, hoping, and laughing. In fact, I found myself laughing out loud while reading and walking the track at the Y. A few other walkers stopped and asked me what book I was reading because I was obviously enjoying it.

This is such a fun series to read. And Bridal Girl was a great book to escape with.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! It’s a great installment to the Blogger Girl series!

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Why did this book have to end? I'm honestly afraid that this will be the end of Kim's story, and I don't want it to be. I absolutely love her and her wacky troupe of friends and family. She and Nicholas are a perfect couple and I want to see how marriage treats them! I want to know how they enjoyed their honeymoon, how they settle in to married life. What happens with Kim's second book. Ugh! Meredith, I need MORE!
Loved this book so much, and the wait from the time I was able to pre-order until I got it was agony. Now that I've finished it, I'm looking around going, "Now what?"

What a fun 3rd book in the Blogger Girl series!

I've had fun following Kim Long through each journey of her life from her blog to her first book and on to her 2nd book and her wedding!

I feel for her and her writers block though - that is the one thing that would terrify me at the end of the day, well that and negative reviews about my book babies. I would feel like they are critiquing my children.

She needs to tell her bridal party to back off and if they don't like it - bye bye. I know easier said then done right? That's probably why I have always said elope! So simple and a vacation all in one.

Start reading today and see if Kim finds her happy ending or if her dream as a writer and life as a bride disappear as if only a dream.

So happy to report that Schorr has done it again! She has written a book that both acts as a great way for returning readers to revisit old friends but also writes it in a way that a new reader can pick it up and enjoy her brilliant story without missing a beat. I love that there are aspects of the book I can find comfort in figuring out while still being very surprised and delighted throughout. It is this perfect balance that makes reading Schorr one of my favorite authors. I think she understands her readers on a deeper level. She gives the readers stories that feed their hearts. She knows how to engage the reader and continues to deliver in each and every book! This is a must read!

Bridal Girl is a must read, after the first two that is.

I read the book in one night. Meredith hit the nail on the head in the aspect of wedding planning and how overwhelming it is. Kimmie tries her best to balance her life. I loved how Hannah, Bridget and Caroline were incorporated. I wish I had a “Bridget”.:

Meredith definitely kept me guessing. I am usually able to figure books out, but this was a plot twister.

I can’t wait for her next book. Her writing is my idea of a kickback and relax with a nice glass of wine.

Bridal Girl by Meredith Schorr is book 3 in a 3-book series. As the mc us a book blogger, I thought I’d relate well to the storyline. That may have held true if I hadn’t picked it up with #3. However, it was funny, well-written and makes me want to back up and read #1 & 2 to see if I’d up it to 5 stars!

BRIDAL GIRL: Suffering in Silence
http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/201...
A blogger tries to keep too many balls in the air at once.

As a blogger, like the character in this story -primarily in the romance genre - I was automatically interested in this series. I gobbled up the second story and was excited for the third. The issues around communication here were central to the story. In the last one, Nicholas was a bit weird about sharing but in this one it's more Kim who can't fess up to almost anything with anyone.

While she tells Nick the presence of his old flame is annoying and to handle it, she hides so many things from so many characters that I cannot imagine her friends and family, not to mention her fiance, do not all ditch her halfway through the book. Somehow, the lack of communication skills, one of my least favorite tropes, is mitigated by the very real stress a woman planning a wedding, trying to come up with a second novel, and with an assortment of additional crises, might experience. But, Kim chooses to go it alone, nearly ruining her friendships, and her love life with her inarticulate inaction.

While it's hard to argue that the stress would be immense in the situations in which Kim finds herself, it's tough to imagine that someone who could blog and write a book, that is a verbal person, couldn't tell her friends, family, fiance, or her boss, what was happening.

I did like how, as has been the case for me, a high school frenemy becomes someone to trust. She's still a jerk personality-wise but this girl is a helper!

As with the other book in the series I listened to, NOVELISTA GIRL, Rachel Dulude does a great job, What I said then applies today:

The narrator, Rachel Dulude, is fresh and has an age-appropriate voice with little, if any, affectation of the stage. While the book is written in the first-person, it's reflective - like someone telling me a story rather than the stream of consciousness, go-pro camera p.o.v.s I usually dislike. Dulude's narration felt like a friend explaining her recent life to me.

http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/201...

I did feel the story went on too long, with too many failed shopping expeditions and one crisis after another. This bride had a rainy experience while planning and right up until the very end they had issue after issue. Does it all work out in the end? You're going to have to read/listen to find out.

Kimmie and friends (and frenemies!) are BACK and this time, she's having a crisis of faith. Now, we're not talking about the existence of the big guy upstairs, but it's pretty much just as crucial to her future happiness, to her well being, to her achieving her happily-ever-after. The faith she is missing is in HERSELF...to meet her deadline, mark all the wedding day planning things off her to do list, be there for her friends, and become the perfect soon-to-be-wife for Nicholas. That's A LOT to accomplish in so little time, especially when life keeps throwing monkey wrenchs of all varieties in her way. From stumbling through writer's block to a surprise pregnancy, feeling the pull of her outside job to coming to Nicholas' rescue, she's splitting herself more than an atom in a nuclear reactor...and the clock is relentlessly ticking down to BOTH her big days! Can she make it in time? Of course, she's Kimmie...but it's not going to be easy, and it's gonna take an intervention (at the very least!) that she won't soon forget.

I gotta admit, I've enjoyed the series thus far, and this was no exception. Kimmie is a great gal, kind hearted, always there for those that need her, and ready for anything, so it pained my heart to see her struggling so this time around. When the reviews were getting to her, her friends kept pulling her away from saying yes to the dress, and even NIcholas had her running to save his job, I couldn't help myself...I wanted to jump in and be like HEY YOU...SHE COULD USE A HAND TOO! Guess what though? A helping hand for her from me wasn't needed because the author wrote in a great supporting cast to help her through...eventually. I get it, they had stuff going on too, but come on....help a bridal girl out!

In the end, it was a great trip down the aisle, even if it never happens (hey, I'm not spoiling it for you!). You'll laugh, you'll gasp, you may even tear for a moment, and you'll definitely want to punch someone in the face (sorry, but I just don't like the girl!), but you'll do it all with a smile on your face because really, it's a fun story that could technically happen to anyone...so you there with the pen in your hand, get to cracking on that book! Who knows...maybe your HEA is just a few pages away.

Bridal Girl is the seventh book that I've read-- and reviewed and loved!-- from Meredith Schorr. Meredith and I only know each other through social media (and really, isn't that most relationships these days?!), but I have said from my very first review: I just get her jokes. Her characters are relatable, her pop culture references are timely but universal, her dialogue is conversational and easy to follow, and her plot lines-- though sometimes exaggerated for entertainment, as expected in romantic comedy-- are funny and real.

Bridal Girl is Book 3 of the Blogger Girl series, and starts with Kim-- who we first met in Blogger Girl (Book 1)-- engaged to the man of her dreams, all ready for her Happily ever After. But there are still 7 months, +/-17 problems, and about 700 things to get through before the big day... Planning a wedding is not for the faint of heart. Add in a deadline for her second novel, and Kim is just about pushed over the edge.

My sister got married at the end of last year, so it was really fun to read about the craziness of planning a wedding after just having been a part of some of the same (less crazy) wedding dilemmas. When I got married, I, like Kimmy, had a naked-in-the-bridal-suite experience of my own! I also purchased multiple prom dresses (decision making is not my strongest quality), and have been known to speak in Pig Latin to relay a secret message. Soooo, like I said, relatable.

Through chapters marked by a countdown till the big day ("big day" sometimes being the wedding and sometimes being a book deadline), Meredith guides us through all of the ups and downs of a bride-to-be and a novice author, keeping us laughing, cringing, and guessing along the way. My only complaint is that Bridal Girl is simply too well written, causing me to finish the book too quickly ;)

*It's true that Bridal Girl is Book 3 in the Blogger Girl series, but it can also be read as a stand-alone book. (I don't know why you wouldn't want to read all of them, but just saying, you totally could.)

Before I get into the review, I read an advance copy of the book, and some there may be some additional edits in the published version. .  As has been my policy since the beginning of this blog, my review is unbiased and neither advance copies nor acknowledgements guarantee a good review.

Now, on with the show....

One thing I consistently like about Schorr's books is that her characters are authentic and relatable.  You're probably tired of hearing me say that, but it's important to me in a romantic comedy book, and therefore a point I feel bears repeating.  One thing that I've noticed about the Blogger Girl series is that Schorr also allows her characters to grow and learn from prior mistakes. Like reality, though, this can be and is often a two steps forward, one step back process,  This back and forth is seen in  Kim and Nicholas' relationship and lends a feeling of believability to their relationship. It also shows us that we can't always assume our partner inherently knows what we need.

I was occasionally frustrated, however,  when I could clearly see what the character needed to do and s/he couldn't see it for themselves. But that's also reality because sometimes we are too in our own heads to be able to recognize a solution to a problem when it's right in front of us.

Some things I particularly enjoyed- Kim's angst over book reviews. I imagine Kim feels much like many first time- and perhaps more seasoned- authors do.  Also, Kim's struggle on depth of conflict in her second novel.  Surprisingly here, we get a bit of self-growth for Kim as an author.

I laughed and I teared up as I read - always a good mix in a book because it illustrates the depth and authenticity I like.   Chick lit fans will want to put this one on the to-read list.

Bridal Girl could be read standalone, but I highly recommend reading Blogger Girl  and Nvoelista Girl first- if  for no other reason than to see firsthand the growth of  the characters that I mentioned.

I had a lot of fun with Blogger Girl but somehow missed Novelista Girl. I was really looking forward to reading Bridal Girl because I liked Blogger Girl a lot.
I'm a little bit disappointed.
Bridal Girl revolves mainly around, as the title suggests, Kim and Nicholas' wedding. And what a terrible fuss people are making about a wedding, I couldn't believe my eyes. Seven months to shop for a dress, that needs alterations? Why just not buy a dress that fits? Three months to order flowers? A year to find a caterer? Feeling guilty because Kim's parents spend their 'pension money' and there is still not enough to finance the wedding? Six months to decide what cake needs to be served and crying because there are no flowers on the table but lovely candle arrangements?
I'm sorry, but I cannot relate to this part of the story at all. It is all so very, very over the top. I cannot believe real people behave like that.
Who is also not real anymore is Nicholas. He is handsome and successfull and very supportive of Kim. And that is all he is in this story. He is incredible patient with Kim, who behaves very irrational sometimes, but there is no depth to him.

What I liked about the book: I like Meredith Schorr's style of writing a lot. Sometimes it makes me think of Wendy Holden, who is my absolute favorite author for this genre. So, I liked the parts that were not 'sickly sweet' (as one of the reviews for Kim's book states). All this crying and drinking with a bunch of girls, it got on my nerves sometimes. I liked the parts where things went wrong and people got fighting a lot better ;-)

I will keep following this author but I sincerely hope the next book in the series is not called 'Baby girl'...

Thanks to NetGalley for this book.

Blogger Girl gets married!

This was the third book that I read and the third book in the series "Blogger Girl". I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and looked forward to reading this one. However, this one was not my favorite.

For me, this one seemed pretty cheesy with a lot of hokey mixed in. Just a little too much for me. Especially the bachelorette party scenes. My first thought when Kim received those texts and especially the picture text from Nicholas was that the men at his bachelor party got hold of his phone.
However, Kim went off on a tangent that the man she was going to marry in a week would send those to her. Seriously? This part just rubbed me the wrong way.

There were, however, lots of laughs and the tiring bickering between the sister and sister-in-law was somewhat funny, but got old fast.

It left me wondering why this smart girl was acting so dumb. Possibly it was her wedding nerves and I can see that and I understand that. However, for me, the constant worrying just seemed to get in the way of all the fun times.

As I said, it was still a decent read and I will pick up the next one because I know the fun times and the outrageous antics will be there. I just think the worrying took up too much space. Or it could be that I'm just old and don't remember all those frustrations and silliness while being young.

Kudos to the author and thanks to Henery Press and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
