Really enjoyed this story.

Young and beautiful (of course) Dara Brandon has set out on foot for Washington to find information on her brother who joined the Navy and has reportedly been captured by the British.

The fun begins not long into her journey when she overhears 2 men plot to hire the pirate, Justin Whitelaw, to assassinate President Jefferson. She is discovered, and the chase is on.

This feisty little spitfire is soon captured by the dangerous "pirate" (who isn't really a pirate), who has escaped hanging for his traitorous crimes. Actually he didn't set out to capture her, circumstances she has gotten herself into just drops her into his life - and he isn't happy about it.

There was not a dull moment in this book. I chuckled all the way through it, laughing out loud so many times. She is such a hardheaded, out-spoken (every thought is immediately out of her mouth), spirited little spitfire and the banter back and forth between her and Justin Whitelaw never stops.

A couple of days into her captivity on Justin's ship, Justin rapes her (she accuses). He didn't rape her, he made love to her (he says). She tells him when she finds her brother she's going to tell him and her brother will kill him...Justin tells her she "won't tell him because you won't want to share this with anyone" as he brushes away a silken strand of hair from her cheek... The dialogue between these two was fresh, witty, and so much fun and it never stopped. I think I had a smile on my face through the entire story except of course for the more serious situations.

Once I started it, I didn't want to put it down.
