This will be a series to remember! Daisy St. James writes super natural beings in a way that makes them so incredibly real! From the stunning physical descriptions of the characters to their inner emotional turmoil, everything together just sweeps you up into their world. Phoenix is a force to be reckoned with...she's seriously one bad ass chick! Amazing start to a series that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait to read book 2!

I loved every minute of this book, it was really hard for me to put down. I had a super time and adventure getting to know Jane aka Phoenyx & Judas (Vampire). I fell for these two, and I loved being in their world of Crystal Haven. Will definitely be back to read more by Author Daisy St. James. *****5 STARS*****

I thought Phoenyx in Flames was a very intriguing and suspenseful book. The heroine is just the type of character most of of look for—strong, independent, and didn’t take crap from anyone. I don’t know about you, but I think we need more female lead characters just like that.

Judas was also a huge plus to see in the book. The plot was very engaging and swept you away. The beginning was a tad bit slow for my tastes but it did pick up. The story deals with all sorts of supernatural goodness—so make sure you pick up a copy for yourself!

Well I can say so many things about this story that I am still reeling from reading but no spoilers so lets see. There's supernatural beings I mean we have vamps and all kinds of others. We have suspense, and intrigue and yup romance. We have Phoenix herself who is a butt kicking bad a$$ with a past and connection that is unknown well until we get more info towards the end of the book. There is a ton going on and yes she has the chance to go dark or light. There's Judas and a couple of other characters that have a big part in her future that may be pushing her towards one direction or another and of course the big secret of who and what she is. Yup all kinds of goodies in this debut from this author. It's an amazing start to a new series from a new author who is making her mark in all the right ways. I look forward to reading more about Phoenix and those connected to her, it looks like it will be a wonderful exciting ride.

This is a debut novel from Ms. St. James and certainly left its mark. I loved everything about this book. The characters were so deeply detailed, Ms. St. James made the characters seem likeable and relatable. The characters are complex and flawed, and you can’t help but feel attached to them. Ms. St. James writing is engaging and fast paced. The story hooks you in almost immediately. “Phoenyx in Flames” has everything you want in a paranormal book, suspense, mystery, intrigue, angst and action. I am always empowered and enthralled with strong, female lead characters and Ms. St. James delivered with Phoenyx! This is definitely a book that should be read by all paranormal book lovers. I can not wait to read what else Ms. St. James has up her sleeve.

Great Read!

Once again, Vampires are the bad guys, and our heroine, Phoenyx, is just the girl to take them out. However, her tragic early life, the one that made her the vampire assassin she is, is about to get even more complicated. Vampires are supposed to be the enemy, right? Then why is she attracted to Judas, a vampire with biological issues? Only one person knows the answers, and he’s not being very forthcoming.

I absolutely loved this book! Bad guys and good guys get all mixed up in this paranormal time bomb with an ending that just explodes off the page. Phoenyx in Flames is a must read!

I really enjoyed this book and am very excited to see what comes next in this brand new series. Book offers a richly detailed and well written story. Plot is very engaging and quickly immerses you in this new world. The characters are complex and likable. The heroine, Phoenyx is one strong, powerful, smart, kick-butt female. Add in vampires, demons, secrets, drama and action and you have a edge of your seat, page turner. I'm posting an honest, voluntary review after reading an advance copy of this book.

Phoenyx is a kickass supernatural slayer, and she's a fine killing machine. Her sense of right and wrong has always been black and white, that is, until she meets Judas and everything she's known begins to change. I enjoyed this action-packed, exciting debut. The writing is engaging and I liked the story line and plot, although the romance really didn't start until later in the story. It does end in a cliffhanger, so there's more to come.

Phoenyx in Flames is the first book in a series of a new author to me, Daisy St James. I love her style of writing, it's fast-paced, beautifully descriptive and she tells a brilliant story! Phoenyx is a slayer of the bad guys, a kick-ass heroine with a nice touch with vampires. But something is happening to Phoenyx, she is becoming......... more! A great start to the series and I can't wait to read the next one!

Phoenyx in Flames is a really well written, action-packed, fast-paced supernatural adventure romance. What particularly stood out was our fearless heroine, a woman with an incredible range of skills, from empathic to fighting the big bad entities of the world. Phoenyx was the epitome of a bada$$ female protagonist, fierce, loyal, and a tad lonely, but she also managed to possess a touch of innocence and vulnerability within her character

'"I think I'd be dead by now if it weren't for you." Phoenyx felt the pull taking over in her body, a kind of ancient need threatening to set her aflame. She couldn't block out his scent or the wicked emotions she was connecting through his body. He wanted her. Every cell inside of him, dead and alive, was screaming out for her."
There are some truly remarkable characters within the story, and some who have a few secrets, enhancing the story with more intrigue and mystery as well as magic and mayhem.
Phoenyx in Flames was an engaging and highly addictive story, one that I truly enjoyed, my only issue with the whole thing was I needed a bit more interaction between Phoenyx and Judas.

Bring on book 2

I love finding new PnR series to sink my teeth into, and when I read the blurb for The Phoenyx series it had me intrigued straight away.

Daisy St James has created a fascinating world.with a range of fantastic characters. I liked Phoenyx straight away she's one badass assassin. I loved her relationship with Hutton and Cortez, it made me laugh at times.

I found myself engrossed in this story, the whole good verses evil the light and darkness and which side will be victorious.

Phoenyx has a lot to deal with when she discovers some truths about who she is, I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I loved the attraction and pull between Phoenyx and Judas it was seductive and hotttt, that ending.....OMFG!

But my favourite character is Ash, he's very mysterious and I'm  curious to learn his secrets. So I'm hoping we get more from him in book 2....fingers crossed.

Daisy St. James lets us get in on the slaying action in Phoenyx in Flames! Supernatural assassin Jane Grimshaw is at the top of her game until she comes across a vampire who lost his memories. Discovering she has a target on her head, she must uncover the vampire’s past to find out who is hunting the hunter. St. James’ writing captures everything I could want in a supernatural thriller: the action, romance, and interesting mystery! I also loved the gritty kickbutt but also vulnerable character that is Jane Grimshaw! If you love supernatural thrillers similar to True Blood or Blade, definitely come sink your teeth into Phoenyx in Flames!

I want to be Phoenyx. Like, now. For some reason, when I picked up this book, I thought it would be about shapeshifters. This seems to my first impression about everything lately. I’m obviously off my rocker.

At first, I wasn’t quite sure if this was a standalone novel. It definitely reads like one and—let’s be honest—I am known for reading a series backward, so it doesn’t really matter to me. Phoenyx’s story is left open-ended, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens to our valiant heroine. But in terms of a conflict and somewhat-resolution, Daisy St. James does not disappoint.

We are first introduced to Phoenyx (her real name is Jane) and a lot of people just want her dead. What a great place to start a book. Not everyone wants Phoenyx dead, though. Some just want to torture her, imprison her...you know, the usual.

But have no fear, Phoenyx is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer on CRACK. This woman is so baller you’re going to want to be her for Halloween (or every day of the year). She’s a—get this—paranormal assassin.

“I walked into Warehouse B thinking I was going to have a blast—and BAM! I get jumped by three vamps.”

Not only do we have vamps, but we have demons galore.

Action ✓

Suspense ✓

Mystery ✓

Romance  😏

Now, let’s talk about the romance for just an itty-bitty second. Umm. Can vampires be real? Because I could use one. If he can read to me every night, even better. He can re-read me this book.

Phoenyx comes across Judas. Is it fate? Abso-freaking-lutely. He can’t remember who he is and Phoenyx is put into an awkward situation. Duty mixes with compassion, all of this transforms into hot, sexy lust, and Phoenyx is now in some serious trouble.

Judas transforms, as well as Phoenyx, and our feisty heroine is suddenly put in the middle of a paranormal mess. He’s straddling the edge of fate, destiny, and free-will. Gah, the tension!

I love Phoenyx (obviously) but Judas can have my blood any time, any day. He’s so vulnerable when Phoenyx and him meet, but GAAWD this man in dangerous! Daisy St. James knows how to write dat alpha love. The storyline is phenomenal, the characters are undeniably delicious, and I can’t wait to find out what happens to Phoenyx in book two. Would it be wrong of me to beg for an early release? No. 🙏

The only thing I’d say I didn’t particularly enjoy about this text is it moved too fast at times. I mean, if you’re into fast-paced reads, this book is for you. But when Phoenyx and Judas were together, I wanted that sweet juju to last!

A perfect supernatural story!

Great plot structure, fast paced, mysterious. It's hard to say much without blowing it but omg, well done! This author knows her stuff!

I'm not typically into hunter stuff. I love supernatural/paranormal but I'm iffy on plots revolving around hunters just because I feel it can turn hammy fast. However, this book was far from hammy and the danger aspect felt real to me.

A full-blown 5star greatness for sure! Loved it!!!!

What a great start to a 4 part series. In this part we are introduced to Phoenyx.

As a young girl, she is taken away from home after her mother's death. Through H she learns what evil there is in the world and learns to fight against the paranormal, mainly vampires.
She finds out there's a mighty vampire out there who wants her alive, or maybe kill her!
In her search for this Lazarus Morelock, she finds out that he is her father. Is that why she finds herself attracted to vampires?

Phoenyx, a strong woman with multiple powers. The supporting characters also make the story. Such as the sand demon Cortez, the beautiful Ash, a vampire who makes her heart beat faster and the vampire Judas with a heartbeat.

Quick read part 2. Recommended.

Wow, this book was amazing from start to finish! There was nothing I could find that I didn't like. Phoenyx is a badass b****, who gets her job done, which happens to be hunting down and killing vampires.
Fate is coming for her though, and people she once trusted have been shown to be keeping important and revealing secrets from her.
This book was fast paced and never really slowed down for a minute with great a witty dialog. All the characters were unique and interesting. It kept me wondering what was in store for the spitfire heroine. I was still left on the edge of my seat wondering what is in store next for Phoenyx at the end of this book and I can't wait for the next to come out so I can find out.

There is plenty of action, suspense, mystery and surprises in Phoenyx in Flames and it was addictive to read. Phoenyx doesnt like people to know or use her first name as far as she is concerned that life is over and she is only Phoenyx now. When she goes to eliminate a group of Vampires things start to go down hill and and well pretty much spiral out of control from there as she sees things that shouldn't happen, find things out about her past including her family and also that nothing it was it seems. I can not wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens next for Phoenyx as well those around her.

Urban fantasy to it's finest, a perfect start for a series with a lot of potential. I'm definitely hooked.

In here, we follow Jane, who is a vigilante in the night, protecting humans from creatures meaning to harm them like vampires, demons and others. And not only is she strong and immensely skilled, she is an empath, which means she can read the emotions from the living and... even more. Things get complicated when her path crosses the one of a vampire who feels (which is unheard of) and learns that someone put a hit on her, possibly a very strong enemy.

It's been a while since I read an urban fantasy and I enjoyed the heck out of it! It was at the same time light but with a lot of mystery elements and twists. The dialogues were entertaining and gave us a feel of each characters. That and the humor kind of gave me a vibe of Buffy the vampire slayer (if you've watched the show). I'm not saying they are the same, but it somehow made me think about the show, in a good way.
I've said it but I'll say it again, the potential of this series with everything that was brought in this first book is making me excited to jump into book 2. The empath aspect was so interesting and I hope we explore it even more further into the series.
And I have to say, there is a particular character that made me swoon multiple times, without saying or doing much. That's when you know that the author knows what she is doing.
There isn't a lot of romance in this first book, but I'm guessing that we are gonna get a bit more of fit as we go in the series.
I loved the FMC and her badass and cool/relaxed vibe. The writing was dynamic and flowing, there never was a dull moment. I also enjoyed the imagery or the metaphors here and there in the book, they were refreshing.

Overall, I do recommend this book. I had a great time and am excited for the rest of the series.
This is an unfinished series, 4 books are out for now. The first book is short, but the following ones get a bit bigger.

(Book written in 3rd person, multi POV (but mainly the FMC's).
