Janet Kitz died at the age of 89 in her home on May 10, 2019. She was an authority on the Halifax Explosion. She researched the explosion and interviewed a large number of the explosion survivors. This book is based on the personal accounts of a few, whose stories are woven into the historical and social background of children of the time.

Survivors is a factual account about a handful of children who lived during World War One and who survived a terrible disaster, not as faceless victims but as real people. The many photographs with captions were very interesting. 5 miraculous stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A follow-up book to “Shattered City” by the same author – a very easy to read book that I completed in a day. I personally believed this event important enough to read a tad further as to the lives affected by the explosion on 6 December 1917.
