I am total trash for omegaverse books.

description

And will apparently seriously overpay for said trash ($4.99 is steep for the page count, in my humble opinion, just sayin').

But what can I say. I love me some smut and I really like the characters and world Ellis created in this series. On to overpriced book three.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first. My problem is that the author failed to give Drocco any light. So here’s the thing; maybe this type of so-called romance just isn’t for me. I needed for there to be moments where Drocco showed even just a little bit of tenderness/gentleness/kindness to Cailyn. But any of that given was only done so AFTER he thought about how it would benefit HIM first. Even when she whisked them away to the middle of nowhere, he only decides to try and snap her out of her depression because he knows he can’t leave and go home without her using her magic. He only asks questions about her life not because he wants to genuinely know more about her but to manipulate her into telling him where the other Omegas are hiding. So do I believe he really cares for Cailyn? Only for as long as she continues to be useful to him.

I don’t know if I’ll read the third. I don’t trust this author to write a satisfying and believable HEA. I don’t think his reasoning behind her torture was good enough. It was a shitty excuse. Also, the author’s idea of Alphas doesn’t sit well with me. And maybe the situation of Ida and her husband (with Ida having to sit there while her husband tells Drocco he loves his Omega and not her, knowing she’s second best and accepting it) has coloured my view of this whole world. I really liked Ida and wish she had so much more than that pathetic piece of shit Alpha she’s with.

Enough. Gonna read something else now. Feeling a bit meh after reading this.

Second book takes off right where book one ended. Cailyn is missing, Drocco is going insane and he wants her back. Soon he discovers she is on her way to Western Land to king Malloron ,so the decision is made: he will bring war upon the king for daring to take his Omega.

The travel across the seas take almost 3 months, but once at palace, Cailyn finds comfort and peace there, but at what cost? What are the kings plans with her?

Dracco has a plan to take his omega back and again is deceiving her into doing something she doesn't want. I thought he would have learned from his past mistakes, but no suck luck. He is still an asshole to be honest, but in the same time I understand his action to some degree. His character has grown alot since the first book, now I am waiting for Cailyn's persona to develop some more.
In this installment we also get an insight into their upbringing and what made them who they are.
Slowly and carefully Drocco tries to save the alpha/omega bond , will he succeed?

This ends on another cliff, so I ll jump straight into the final book for this couple.

This is where it gets boring.

Cailyn's kidnapper turns out to be the ruler of the Western Lands. The entire first half of the book is dedicated to Cailyn getting to know him and his country. Halfway through though, she discovers that Malloron is only pretending to be nice but is actually running a sex trafficking ring.

Cailyn's previous rapist is very upset about Cailyn being taken by someone else and leads his army to the Western Lands. War ensues. Many people die. Drocco lets himself be taken captive by Malloron on the condition that he would be allowed to have a conjugal visit with the prisoner. Malloron agrees because he's a reasonable guy sometimes, but it was all a ruse as during this conjugal visit, Drocco impregnates Cailyn, thus ruining her for future use by others.

Malloron is displeased but agrees to extend the conjugal visit as he wants to then claim the child to use in his sex-trafficking scheme. Drocco and Cailyn remain as guests in Malloron's castle and have sex in captivity for a while until, once again, Cailyn manages to escape using her magic.

She escapes to the Wastelands however and become suicidal. (Because of all the rape, drugging and impregnation probably). Drocco is sad to see that his fated mate is suicidal because of all the forced impregnation and decides to give her the backstory on why he became a violent rapist.

You see, when he was very young, his father told a lie which resulted in the violent and gory death of his mother and ever since then he cannot tolerate liars to live. It's just his thing. He had not meant to be unspeakably cruel to Cailyn, he had just been upset by all her spying, deception and deliberate lies.

Cailyn buys this explanation and returns with him to his palace... where she is kidnapped... again.

I honestly don't get why this book exists. The worldbuilding is rudimentary. Places are names Eastern Lands, Western Lands for example. There are no actual rules to how the magic works, it's not a magic system it's random orbs of light, portals, spears... It can seemingly do everything except whatever you need it to do in the moment your life depends on it.

Why are so many omegaverse books like this? We have this concept of soulmates and strong alpha males covered in muscles and then they make every single alpha male character into the most idiotic type of rapey caveman... Why? How is this a romance novel?

Spoilers ahead

So we begin where book 1 ended as the h escaped but was then "kidnapped" . She's taken to the East Lands by their king who's courteous and supposedly kind. He wants to marry her but after months of preparation Drocco descends with his Lox to bet his Omega back.

In all fairness these books are really entertaining but I struggle sometimes, Drocco does some things that I want to smack him for! His reasoning for the way he treats her is so foolish! Yes she was a spy and liar but in no way did the punishment suit the crime, then he basically punishes her for escaping his brutality.
The h had some good moments, she really tried to stand up for herself but the dynamic of an Omega is basically betraying body syndrome so she struggled. She also had some foolish moments where i wanted her to just get over herself a bit
There were maybe a tiny few moments where he seemed to care for her but it generally read as him trying to be caring BECAUSE he wanted something from her or the situation. Drocco was just too hard headed, unreasonable and entitled at times, these people desperately needed to communicate
There's an instance where we meet a secondary character where I wanted to climb into this book and thro down. Ida was basically the Beta stepmother of the h, she seemed like a genuine and kind person who loved the h YET she had to sit there and listen to her husband explain to Drocco that he cheated on her and abandoned her for Cailyn's Omega mother who he still loved. Sometimes the Alpha/Omega pairing really shits on Betas man
All in all i didn't agree with or even enjoy everything in this installment but I can say I was absolutely engrossed and couldn't put the book down.

I'm unconvinced that this needed 3 parts however, I mean they basically spent months waiting for things to progress

A fantastic read

My second read of this book, in preparation for finally reading book #3 and completing it. And I'm wondering how I ever left this incomplete. I'd forgotten just how amazing this series is, the writing has me gripped from start to finish, I've read the two books in less than 24 hours and will be starting the third book as soon as I've finished writing this review.

Drocco, Drocco, Drocco. What am I going to do with you? You travel half way around the world to recover your fated mate and then treat her like crap. Oh you foolish, foolish alpha. So many times I wanted to throat punch him. But then we get those scenes in the cottage where he goes all out to win Cailyn's heart. Oh and his anguish and heartache when he thinks he has failed - that certainly had me tearing up.

It could have been easy to dislike Cailyn, after all she stubbornly held onto her dislike for an alpha that was clearly bending over backwards to show her his feelings. But this woman has been fed misinformation and half-truths since she was an infant. Discovering those lies opens her eyes to a whole new world of possibilities and I can't wait to find out what happens next!

I am totally in love with this couple, they are such star-crossed lovers. Although Drocco manipulates the Talent to induce a Haze, and technically what results could be judged as dubious in consent, I still enjoyed every single moment. The writing is fantastic and the pace and complexity of the plot held me spellbound. I'm off to read book 3 now.

I know King Malloron is the hero of books 4 - 6. I'm wondering how Ms Ellis will convince me of that because I really, really dislike him at the moment.

“Crave to Capture” is the second book in the Myth of Omega serial. This installment is as unique, and erotic as its Omegaverse predecessor, but differs through the wider range of emotions it evokes. This time around we are given insight into Cailyn’s and Drocco’s background and upbringing which brings some clarity to their recent actions. After many months in Drocco’s captivity, Cailyn questions her beliefs regarding the Alpha/Omega connection and whether the Mothers have purposely withheld important details. Has she been programmed to be prejudiced against Alphas and if so, to what purpose? I look forward to the final installment “Crave to Claim”. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I had the opportunity to beta read this for Zoey Ellis a while ago but I ended up needing to read it again after some minor changes <3 I love it! This is the second book in the Myth of Omega series, if you have not read the first one then you’ll want to read that first since Crave to Capture leaves off right where Crave to Conquer ended.

There is something about the Omegaverse trope that just hits on my preferences pretty perfectly, I’ve been reading it for years (mostly MM until it came to MF). Zoey Ellis doesn’t disappoint with her understanding of what people want in an Alpha and Omega. I LOVE Drocco and his possessiveness towards his omega Cailyn and I LOVE the fight that Cailyn has toward his possession. One of my favorite things in Ellis’s books is the view into the mind of Cailyn when she’s in her Haze, the need to submit to her alpha never comes easily until she’s ruled by her hormones but it’s a great sneak peak of what’s natural in this fantasy world.

Great Job, Zoey Ellis! I’ll be needing the next immediately <3

I'm pretty much in love with this world that Zoey Ellis has created. I love, love, love Drocco - did I happen to mention that I love him? He's the epitome of a dominant, controlling, OTT j/p alpha H. If you don't like a man who knows what he wants and will do ANYTHING to get it, you should probably stay away, lol.

Before you read this book, please consider the following :
1. This story is quite different from book one. The H and h are separated for a significant portion of the book and it takes awhile to get to the good stuff.
2. Possible trigger warning - dubious consent
3. Cliffhanger ending
4. Not a stand-alone. This is part of a series that MUST be read in order.

I'm not going to lie, I've started to view everyone around me (female and male) as Alphas, omegas, and Betas after reading so many of these Alpha books. This book was a bit boring in parts, mostly because the beginning was a bit slow and then we had to read a bunch of backstory from both mains. I kind of liked king Malleron and I figured that Zoey Ellis realized that her audience would like him so then she decided to make him into some children sex slaver. I didn't like how this alpha forced a pregnancy on his omega, what a monster, but then again what do you expect from these, "you are mine" guys.

I do like this series but there is just something in the writing that just doesn’t totally click. I feel like the characters are written in such a distant way that I can’t feel any connection with them. So far I feel like this series lacks the intensity and feeling that could make this series from good to great for me. Hopefully the 3rd one will be better for me as it’s still a good series.

The story continues with the same ferocious pace and captivating characters.
It was gritty and if I had triggers, I am pretty sure I would be triggered.
In other words, it was raw, dark & smutty.
It was also enlightening, powerful and the revelation they both had balanced out the darker parts.

4* STARS!

Trust issues.

Hell, both Emperor Drocco and Cailyn has the biggest trust issues ever. There's no explanation at first why they hate-to-fuck each other. Drocco has known Cailyn as the spy has trapped her inside his room. Well, I must say his interrogation method is "barbaric" to Cailyn and no wonder she closed herself. After this moment, Cailyn turns into kick-ass to face the Emperor.

The runaway mate.
Their journey is wayyy too long. I didn't expect Cailyn to land on the hand of another powerful Alpha. King Malloron of Western Island. It seems he's quite interest in Cailyn especially since she's an Omega. King Malloron looks like a nice gentleman but who knows his hidden agendas after what he has done to Emperor Drocco.

Started slow and ended up unexpected.
I must say this story is kinda exhausted with the push and pull between Drocco and Cailyn. Many times she rejects Drocco as her Alpha. Despite her horniness because of the Omega's haze, Cailyn just couldn't resist Drocco and it frustrated her till the point of hollowness. But in their runaway journey, finally Drocco slowly open up about his story. Cailyn turns into curious and starting to repair their connection.

Both Drocco and Cailyn is really headstrong and it makes their acceptance with each other has slow progress. But in the end, they're finally understand each other and it was beautiful. Finally, Cailyn is open her view about Alpha and decided to move on from her old principle.

I never watched Game of Thrones but I'm willing to bet my treasured first edition of Lord of Scoundrels that these books are Khal Drogo fanfic. Nothing wrong with that because I sure am enjoying the heck out of them. This is the second book following Drocco and Caylin (Crave to Conquer is the first) and it doesn't stand alone. It picks up with the kidnapping of Caylin and of course our knuckle dragging neanderthal declares war on another kingdom to get her back.

The plot was wonky here with a lot of hand wavy nonsense like the hero declaring all out war on the king who took his omega but then trusting him enough to stay in his castle banging said omega for MONTHS. Like he abandoned his troops in the middle of war and just went off to have a f*CK fest in his enemy's castle 😆 other things also made no sense and it dragged and became repetitive after a while. But even with all the nonsensical f*ckery I still couldn't stop reading. Totally invested in this story and this world and I'm directly diving into book 3.

Sequel to Crave to Conquer and cannot be read as a standalone.

*Spoilers if you haven’t read Crave to Conquer*

Crave to Capture picks up where the first book left off: Cailyn has just been abducted after injuring and escaping Drocco, and Drocco has healed and begun his search for his escaped Omega.
The story goes in some ways that I didn’t expect, so I was happy that I couldn’t predict most of the book. There was finally some growth between Cailyn and Drocco, and even though it was brought on by Drocco’s questionable actions, I was thrilled to see them evolving, both individually and as a couple.

The characters and chemistry are great. Drocco’s even more of a dick than the first book for a while, but he’s also an A+ possessive alpha that finally starts to realize some of his mistakes. And Cailyn’s still a determined yet headstrong Omega, but when her vulnerability and desperation finally showed, it made her even more relatable. And even though the plot makes it difficult to walk away from the book, I still had some issues I couldn’t get past.

My problem with the story is the logistics. Several situations seem like they could’ve been much more easily resolved if only the characters used some common sense, and I started to wonder if the author was willfully ignoring the obvious in order to prolong the book. Even the final conflict was made more dramatic by the oh-so-stupid decisions of the MCs, and I’m convinced it could’ve easily been avoided had Cailyn just found a piece of parchment and wrote,

But I’m a sucker for jealously possessive alphas that’ll stop at nothing for the women they love, so book three,

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is going to be unusual with how much I liked the first book. But this didn't even feel like was written by the same author. The first one was well-paced, interesting characterizations, and intriguing plot. This second one lacks any of that.

It's sooooooo slow. It just drags on and on. And there's a section of the story where it is exposition galore. Like holy crap *chapters* of it. And when the plot does move, it is very clunky and awkward.

Like, I love me an angsty reunion. When our two lovers have a bitter separation, but are reunited...there's suppose to be easy potential for angst and sexual tension. Unfortunately, with the way the scene is handled, it's not there. It's clunky and convoluted.

Which leads me to the characterizations. It's pretty bad, which surprises me cause I never had a problem with book one's. Malloran, our villain, was mysterious and suspicious. In this one, he's just one dimensional and terrible at being an actual villain. He's actually pretty fucking stupid and lacking in any sort of cunning.

And then there's Cailyn. I was so immensely frustrated with her. She too, comes off as really fucking stupid in this installment. She's very whiny and short-sighted. Having been trained as one of the best spies the Mothers have, you see none of that in her (unlike the first book). It's like she's another character all together.

There was a point in the story that make you think "Oooo, this could be interesting, I wonder what will come of this." And yet, it's just forgotten and we move onto yet another slow paced snore-fest. ()

Drocco was the only constant that didn't seem to differ from book one. But not even he could salvage this for me. The chemistry and magnetism with Caiyln in book one is just not there in book two. I could not find it in me to care about their relationship. Which was incredibly frustrating, because I enjoyed them in book one.

With all of the book's problems together, it was almost a DNF for me. Just poorly planned and written, maybe the author was rushed. Maybe it was ghost written. It was just not good.

I don't think I'll be tuning into this series for part 3.

Let me just start out by saying I really truly appreciate the length of this book! I did skip a few inner dialogue pages but over all, yaaaasssssssss!!!! This book gave me life! And once I made it to the end I was in the bathroom screaming nooooooooooooo!!! *inserts hubby freaking out* I was so pulled into the storyline and concerned for both characters that when it ended it was totally unexpected. Zoey Ellis’s Omega Verse puts you on a emotional rollercoaster that you don’t expect. I feel like book 1 was a tad bit darker only due to Drocco’s punishment of Cailyn and book 2 showed a deeper understanding to how and why both parties think the way they do. I loved them both! I will definitely be purchasing Zoey’s next installment and let me just say I am totally giddy that other authors are writing about M F omega verse.

Alpha Emperor Drocco is frantic when his true mate Cailyn, an Omega, disappears and tears apart the Eastern Lands trying to find her. Then witnesses come forward stating they saw an unconscious Cailyn being carried onto a ship heading to Eiros in the Western Lands. Drocco declares war on Eiros and rounds up his warriors to find Cailyn and bring her back. Cailyn escaped from the ruthless Drocco only to be captured by King Malloron. Malloron tells Cailyn he wants her to stay a while to get to know him. Cailyn starts to enjoy King Malloron's company until she's warned that Malloron isn't what he seems. What will Cailyn do when Malloron says he wants her to be his queen? Has Cailyn jumped out of the frying pan into the fire? Drocco fights Malloron for Cailyn, but even if he wins, will he be able to persuade her to stay? Note: This story ends on a cliffhanger.

Zoey Ellis delivers an action-packed, angsty and steamy story that you won't be able to put down. I can't wait to read Crave To Claim, Book 3 of the Myth of Omega series.

This was a really good solid next step in the story of these two opposing forces and I was so here for the angst! I’m a sucker for angst. It’s my bread and butter, the meat and potatoes in any story that I read. You give me angst and I’m here for it. And this story gave me angst. I was hurting for them, I was twisted up for them. I was so invested in them. Now I can’t wait for the finale.

An alliance with Malloran? Unthinkable as Emperor Dracco knows that allying himself with Malloran is the same as inviting a venomous snake into his bed. A bed empty now that Cailyn has magically escaped.

The truth becomes increasingly clear when his own spies report Cailyn is in Malloran's hands It's now war on Eiros.

Second installment in the "Myth Of Omega" series. Continues from the cliffhanger ending of the previous installment so definitely not standalone eligible.

While the general theme of the story has dark themes and does push comfort zones, it's an addictive series that brings the reader along a fantasy alternate universe roller coaster ride of chess game suspense and erotic thriller scenes that I can't get enough of.

I'm thrilled that I don't have to wait for future installments and can continue to find out how things work as out yes, this ends in a cliffhanger.
