Scandalous #2

Indie and the Brother's Best Friend

Rate this book
Being in love with someone who doesn’t love you back sucks.

Being in love with your brother’s best friend sucks even more, because you know it can never happen. How tragic is that?

I’ve been in love with Lincoln Andrews since we were kids and he stuck up for me against my brother and played tea parties with me in the treehouse. I’ve also avoided him for the past year because he broke my heart… more than once.

Now we’ve been thrown together at a tropical resort to celebrate my parents’ second wedding, and things are intense and getting worse, no thanks to an insane plan my friends cooked up to get me my dream man.

No one else even comes close to what Linc means to me. He’s always there for me, but is it because he cares for me too — or only because I’m his best friend’s little sister?

It’s time I find out once and for all… but what if our crazy plan blows up in my face and ruins everything?

I read the first book in the series and really liked it but she went way off the deep end with this one. Ryder was great, swoon worthy, Linc is a douche. How could she write so much different heroes in the same series? Indie has been in love with Linc forever and in his inner monologue he says the same about her. But of course instead of writing a creative story this author does the same thing so many other do and goes the gratuitous route. Why? The story was cute and I was enjoying until we dealve into the fact that Linc was ready to marry someone else. Of course indie is a virgin and has never even kissed someone else (until this story begins and her gay best friend kisses her trying to make Linc jealous). He however has dated and slept with and unknown amount of girls, but more than that dated and was going to marry a stripper named jasmine. This wasn’t just a quick thing. No he had brought her around and rubbed Indues face in it at a party, indie was heartbroken and didn’t come home to bust after that. He specified that at that time they had been together for 6 months. Yep, 6 months. He tried to say that he only dated her because he was heartbroken and trying to get over Indie (he’s such a douche and states how it was physical and they were using each other like that makes it better). Another clueless author who takes the route of showing us that he he hero is worthless with her own words. If the heroine loves the hero so much that she can’t touch another guy, but he dates, screws and proposes to a stripper that he just “used”. So thanks for letting us know that he didn’t actually love her and his words were bs. It was completely gratuitous and ruins the book. He never made up for any of the hell he put her through, she was just supposed to deal with it because it’s in the past. This book would have been so cute without that move on his part. What did his dating, screwing, and getting engaged to a stripper add to him this story?!?!? I guess maybe the author wanted us to think he’d be skilled in bed?!? So stupid. He just looked like such a freaking douchbag.

Oh and there are bonus points for the fact that he blocked her from ever dating a guy because of his feelings. He also says that he knew her brother would never approve. Well surprise surprise, everyone knew about their feeling and were waiting for them to get together. So where was her jackass brother when he was screwing the stripper? This is the one case where I could see the brother having a reason to object. I honestly just wished this was one of those stories where they switch the hero... Its all such sexist bullshit.

After reading this book I recommend everyone to read the series chronology because if you don’t, you’ll miss some tidbits about this group of friends that makes the story so more complete and so much fun.

I loved this one. It was incredible to see that Linc was not what I thought he was. He was so much more.
This was sweet, funny and entertaining. I read it in one sitting and I can’t wait to start Harper’s story, because this book explains a lot about their beginning.
Can’t wait!

This book was so cute. It was hilarious at times, angsty at times and very sweet & romantic at times. Indie and Lincoln have had feelings for each other for a long time. Lincoln has been Indie’s brother’s best friend since they were little kids, and Linc grew up hanging around the family. So Linc and Indie’s feelings developed slowly from a young age. But even when they got old enough to understand their feelings and act on them, they hesitated. Linc because he was afraid of how his best friend, Indie’s brother, would react, and Indie because she didn’t believe Lincoln felt the same as she did. Now Indie comes home from University for her parents "second wedding” and her friends come up with a plan to try and force Lincoln to finally make a move on Indie. But things get a tad bit out of control.

I really enjoyed this!! It was a quick read and a very feel good one. I found myself sitting there with a big smile on my face in those aw...moments. Don’t you love those moments?! Two big thumbs up and 5 stars for this sweet romance.

hmmm...

I equally loved it and hated it, for the same reasons.

So, Indie is Bailey's friend we meet in book 1, she's also Nate's little sister and she 's been in love with her brother's best friend Lincoln/Linc Andrews , for 15 years, or to be exact since she was a little girl and Linc was always her savior in every situation,
My entire life had been about Lincoln Bloody Andrews...
It had always been Linc.
It would always be Linc.

but every time since she was 18, and she wanted to show him her feelings, he would crush it, by dismission, and she grew distant and desperate...
There was no getting over him. No moving on. I was doomed to spend my life pinning for a guy who didn't want me.

never actually knowing that Linc loved her too, for so long...and never wanted to act on it, out of fear that it would destroy his and Nate's friendship.

But then the opportunity appears in the form of a wedding vows renewal of Nate's and Indie's parents in a resort in Fiji, and the whole gang gets together again. Indie's closest friends - Bailey, Ryder, Kenzie, and Jackson/Jack - who actually comes up with a devious but funny plan to finally put Linc and Indie in each other's path, once and for all.

He plays the part of Indie's boyfriend, so he can make Linc jealous and to make him react, as Linc is so overly protective of Indie...and now, all they have to do is sit back and watch as the plan unravels.

so, the main part here that didn't quite work for me was the "fake boyfriend" situation, as much as it worked in book 1 since the characters pretending to be in a relationship, actually fell in love, here, it supposed to have a counter affect - the characters "pretending" to be in a relationship are traying to "make" the third person jealous so he would react and make his move to win over the girl he loves but has never told her. *question mark*

Interesting concept, but also tricky cause that really made no sense to me, first of all, it would take a hypocrite to "react" like that, since he never did react the right way when she was free and now, he was supposed to "win her over" and take her away from her "boyfriend"? (no matter that we ALL know it's for pretense, Linc doesn't know, and now, all of a sudden, he wants to make her see...gah)

the whole charade was camouflaged with sass and funny banter and jerky, hilarious moves Jack (who is actually gay, like that should make the difference LOL) made to "spice" up the atmosphere, so I wasn't that pent up, but it was awkward.

Until Indie has enough of all the fuss and pretense and finally breaks the deal off, admitting to Linc how she felt for him for years...thank fuck!

Somebody had to do it! LOL

and well, after that, all the misunderstandings were polished...and it turns out that EVERYONE knew how much they love each other, but themselves...tipical

Solid, at times funny and entertaining, with mild description of sexual nature, and more focused on the sensuality of the situation, especially in parts where Linc finally acts on the pent up tension and bursts the bubles of prolongued anticipation.
"I", I said against her lips.
"Have." I skimmed my nose along her jaw.
"Waited." kissed below her ear.
"Fifteen." Traced my tongue down her throat.
"Goddamn." Grazed my teeth over her collarbone.
"Years." And crashed my mouth against hers again, sliding between her parted lips.
"Nothing is going to take you away from me."

well, fuck damn, that was a long wait, my friend. LOL, anyway it's really 2.75 stars for me.

BUT, Linc still didn't beat that loser dude that has been living for 24 years next to Alice and never told her how he felt, and then she was gone...stupid fucker LMAO

Just random thought...*wink*

Indie and the Brother's Best Friend was a little bit better than the first book, Bailey and the Bad Boy. However, the characters still annoyed the ever living shit out of me.

Indie is basically obsessed with her older brother's best friend, Lincoln. Unsurprisingly, he is equally obsessed with her. HOWEVER, they just skirt around each other, flirt to no end, and still nothing happens from it. They end up hurting each other by saying or doing little things which of course just frustrated the hell out of me. I mean everyone had eyes and could see what they were doing. They all knew that they had some big crush on each other and that they would eventually get together and become a real couple. It was kind of stupid that it took so god damn long for it to happen.

Besides Indie and Lincoln, you get to meet her older brother Nate who was pretty cool and didn't really annoy me. He did confuse me because I had no idea who he actually really liked in this book. Was it Ryder's twin sister or was it Harper?!? JUST TELL ME ALREADY.

Then there was more of Kenzie in this book, who is Ryder's twin sister. God I love her. She was so refreshing and didn't sugar coat anything to anyone. She is my spirit animal. Speaking of spirit animals, I loved Jack. He was the gay best friend to Indie and he also lived in one big house with Ryder and Bailey. He definitely gave life to this book - whether he was being a completely douche fake boyfriend to Indie just to rile up Lincoln or whenever he would make Ryder uncomfortable by telling him how good looking he was. If this book was about Jack then I would've rated it 4 stars at least.

Yes, I mentioned how Ryder and Bailey were in this book. They weren't completely annoying I guess. That's really all I'm going to say about them.

Besides these annoying characters (except for Kenzie and Jack) we get to meet two other new characters: Brody and Harper. Which I know is because of the third book and I'm pretty sure it's about those two (since the secret chapter was from Harper's POV).

Overall, this book was annoying and meh. It was also a super quick read and that's probably why I didn't really care if I read it or not. Thank god it's over and I can move on with my life.

I'm a sucker for brother's best friend or best friends brother kind of books. Just something about them.

"I had been in love with Lincoln Andrews since I was five years old"

"I'd been in love with Indiana Kellerman for fifteen damn years"

This was a story about a boy and a girl who love each other but don't get to it! They have been in love with each other since they were kids and now they are adults. There were times I was like just tell her how you feel!

description

It was agonising with all the sexual chemistry/intensity but they got there eventually! I did enjoy the plan to make Linc jealous which of course worked. It had to. The highlight was the gay best friend. There's always one in these kinds of books.

I enjoyed this. It was a decent cute read which was funny.

This was a rather bland story but a nice one non the less. Another forbidden romance and not very dark or dangerous. Not very kinky either but a lovely story.

Something for the teens to get their teeth into.

Received an ARC at no cost to author..I have to say that I am so happy that I am on a roll. You know how it is when you take the time and read a book and then you are telling yourself "Why did I waste my time?", well my friends you wont be saying that with this one. Yet again I have found a new author to add to my awesome author list. R. Linda is new to me, but she wont be for long. I also did not realize that this was a second in the series, but I was not lost, however I will grab the first one because I always like to familiarize myself more..Anyhoo, I wont be giving more details, because I seriously want you to read. And as always my friends Enjoy!!!!

GAW I love these falling for my brothers best friend romances. Indie has loved linc since they were kids and he took up for her , now they are thrown together in tropical paradise for her parents wedding and her feelings for him hasn't changed but Linc is acting different, but is it that he feels the same way or just because she his best friend sister. Linc has always felt a connection with indie but being best friends with her brother makes moving forward hard, but he's past that point now, now he just hopes she feels the same way. loved it.

When you read a book, that leads to a series of books, and you are sucked in to the characters lives, feel that you are there in the book, embroiled in the dramas that unfold, want to hit the bitches that unfold, find yourself grinning that stupid grin that makes your other half ask you what you’re smiling at, or when you actually lol because you can’t stop yourself. R Linda makes you feel that and more with this series. You’ll have your favourites but don’t hesitate to grab them. You’ll do all of the above and more

I started off kind of liking this book but I think it was just a mess for me as it went on. I noticed a few grammatical errors (I even saw a your vs you're thing going on), which I'm never nit picky about because everyone makes mistakes. But if I note it, then it was a bit too much or the book just didn't distract me enough. Indie was an okay character for me, a little too naive, a little too immature, a little too indecisive. Lincoln was okay, too. He had some lines that sounded and felt too possessive to me. I loved Nate though and Bailey and Ryder. I did not like Jackson at all. He was so obnoxious, even when he wasn't pretending to be Indie's boyfriend. Pretending to be a jerk felt like a stupid way to show Lincoln what he was missing, especially since some of the things he did say to Indie actually hurt her feelings. Was it necessary to make Indie uncomfortable? I really wanted to like this because I love the brother's best friend romance but I didn't think it was executed well.

Lincoln Bloody Andrews.

Brother's best friend is one of my favourite tropes, so I was already pumped to read this - especially after how much I loved the first book.

Add in cashing the 'v' card and I'm a goner.

This story was amazing. I didn't want to put it down! The push and pull, the slow burn, the tension had me wishing I could read faster. Yet, I didn't want it to end.

"My entire life had been about Lincoln Bloody Andrews. The way he smiled. The way he touched his hair, and the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he laughed. The way he looked in a swimsuit, shorts and tank, a suit—in anything, really. The way he always came to my rescue. The way he played with me growing up when no one else would... It had always been Linc. It would always be Linc."
And boy, you could feel all of this throughout the book. Indie and Lincoln are now in my top 10 couples of all time.

Gonna run to read the next book- I'm hooked!

Sweet story

Oh this story was so sweet and humorous. I loved Jack her gay bff. Linc sounded so surfer sexy. It was so sweet that "indie" saved herself for him. That she had loved him before she even knew what love was. I liked how the author was so funny but genuine with the characters feedings. I enjoyed the book.

Indiana <3 Lincoln!!!

Doesn't seems to need a spoiler but Spoilers alert...

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2018...

I actually liked this book, at first I thought the book wasn't that good. Due to the description. But once I cracked it open and got into it, I started to like it. I figured that everybody knew that Indie and Lincoln was in love with each other. They were just blind te parts with Jack was so hilarious throughout, the way he kept making Lincoln jealous was hilarious. I hope the author comes out with a book about Brody and some girl and Jack with some guy. Especially Jack I so want him to find love.

Eh

While I absolutely loved the first book in this series, this book was just okay.

There’s a lot about it that just bugged me. Our main guy, Linc, scares off any guy that shows interest in the main character, Indie. As a result, she spends the majority of her life feeling less than, feeling inadequate. But because he did it for loved that’s suppose to make it better?
Nope.
I found Indie’s character to be too obtuse. Linc to being too controlling and cave man-esque.

But, I am sitting here writing about these characters as though they were real. The writing is still as superb in this book as it was in the last.

Indie has been in love with her brother's best friend Lincoln/Linc but he says that he only looks at her as a little sister. She has to go with him to her parents' second wedding, where they will be at a tropical resort. She is desperate for him to notice her before they possibly go their separate ways, so she and her friend Jack decide to pretend to be in a relationship to make him jealous. Hopefully, this plan doesn't backfire completely and he will finally see her as more than simply his best friend's little sister.

Linc has been in love with Indie for years, but he is scared of what her parents and brother will think if they start going out with each other. He does not want to ruin his relationship with his best friend, but he loves Indie so much that he doesn't think that he can wait any longer for her. When she shows up at the tropical resort with a new boyfriend, he doesn't even know how she has managed to date him for a year without him finding out. Nevertheless, he knows that he has to find a way to get her away from this horrible boyfriend of hers and to where she belongs, with him.

I am really into the falling for the brother's best friend storyline now. It started with The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window and now I am loving this. My only issue is when the brother tries to get mad at the best friend for liking the sister in the past. If I was a brother, I wouldn't be hostile towards my best friend who wants to date my sister. Instead, I would want my sister to date someone who I trust. Nevertheless, the brother always has some degree of hostility that is the cause of a major plot point.

I loved Indie, as she never gave up on Linc even after years of pining after him and seemingly receiving nothing. It was sweet to see their relationship grow throughout this story and see how they truly blossomed into love.

Even though irritated me to no end with his "tactics" to try to bring Indie and Linc closer together, it definitely worked, and it helped for their growth as a couple.

Lastly, I am starting to see the link between the stories in the series. Before even reading the short sample at the end, I knew who the next story was going to be about simply by reading the novel, and in a weird way this made me feel special for "figuring it out". I definitely cannot wait to read the next story, and I hope to follow this series until the end.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Being in love with someone who doesn’t love you back sucks. Being in love with your brother’s best friend sucks even more, because you know it can never happen. How tragic is that? I’ve been in love with Lincoln Andrews since we were kids and he stuck up for me against my brother and played tea parties with me in the tree house. I’ve also avoided him for the past year because he broke my heart… more than once.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Indie and Linc's story drew me in from the start. Indie has been in love with her brothers best friend Linc for as long as she can remember. She spent many years trying to get him to notice her. Unfortunately he did notice her, but always treated her like family even though she wanted so much more. Very time she thought they made progress Linc would say or do something to break her heart. After the last incident Indie left and did not come home for a year. She could not miss out on her parents renewing their vows even though she knew seeing Linc again would hurt her.

Linc has loved Indie for years but she is his best friends little sister. No matter how much he wants Indie, Linc cannot cross that lone. Bros before...little sisters. When she shows up for her parents vow renewal, with a boyfriend no less, Linc knows he cannot let the week end without telling Indie how he feels. Every time he sees Jack, Indies boyfriend, touch or kiss her it makes him jealous. When her overhears Jack being rude or mean to Indie, Linc wants to punch him in the face. Linc cannot help but relish the stolen moments they share. Unfortunately for him most of these moments are ruined by him unknowingly. When the truth finally comes out there are many more surprises in store. The book had so many likable characters. I want to hear so much more from Jack. The book made me laugh out loud several times. At other times I wanted to smack Linc (*sighs men). Either way I could not put the book down.

I would definitely recommend this book. I read this book before the first and still do not feel like I missed anything so it does not need to be read in order. I will go back to read the first book and cannot wait for the rest of the series.

Ever since meeting Indie in book 1, Bailey and the Bad Boy, and seeing how madly in love she was with her brother's best friend, I wanted to know more about her and Lincoln. I wanted to read about their "impossible" situation and see if they'd figure a way around their predicament.

The moment I got my hands on this book, I was a goner!! This story had my full attention and there wasn't a thing that would make me stop reading...well, aside from the fact that I had to sleep, that is.

Indie had been in love with Lincoln all her life. He was always there alongside her brother, making sure Indie was always safe and taken care of. He made sure any and all boys stayed away from her too. Indie just thought he was protective of her because he saw her as a little sister. She hoped to be wrong but Lincoln never showed her otherwise. In fact, whenever they'd have a moment, he'd make sure to push her away rather quickly. She never knew which way was up or down with him.

So she left.

A few years later, she's forced to face the music. Her parents are renewing their wedding vows and they're both in the wedding. Now, of course, an already stressful situation was made even more stressful (but comically so) for Indie because her and Bailey's best friend, Jack, decided to be her pretend boyfriend. Out of the blue. Now, mind you, Jack is gay, so in reality, there was NOTHING there between them, but it was fun seeing him push Linc's buttons. Jack knew that would light a fire under his butt and get him to admit to Indie, and himself, how he really felt.

The chemical attraction and sexual tension between Indie and Linc SIZZLED. Holy cow, did it ever. I was READY for them to finally be together! In more ways than one, if you know what I mean, LOL!

Anyway, this book was seriously REALLY GOOD and one I recommend you grab! I love Lincoln....and Jack LOL!! It was amazing seeing Ryder and Bailey (#RyderFreakingJones!!) and I cannot wait for Harper and Nate's book! Eek!! FIVE STARS!

Is there a way I can include just one giant flame emoji in this review? Some heart eyes? I need a fan just to cool off so I can pull myself together to write this review!

I fell fast and hard for Ryder Freaking Jones in BAILEY AND THE BAD BOY, so I knew any male R. Linda wrote promised to destroy me in the best way possible. Lincoln Andrews was that – the best, most deliciously swoon-worthy character I have read (I still love you, Ryder.. but.. Linc!). More on him later!

The relationship between Indie and Bailey was so genuine that it was impossible to pretend I wasn’t one of them, or at least part of their story. The way with which R. Linda describes Indie’s unrequited love, her heartache and desperation, pulled me into this page-turner with a serious reading addiction. I could not get enough. Ryder’s back, in addition to his insanely hot lip-ring biting and stoic demeanor that suggests you’re done for if you mess with him, all while protecting his love.

But it’s Linc who left my heart and stomach a fluttering mess. The way R. Linda wrote him, and every scene even about him had me forcing myself not to peek ahead. The ebb and flow, the beautiful torture the characters feel for one another, was incredible! I was there with them, feeling it all, rooting for Indie and wishing I was her.

This book takes the beautiful innocence we knew from many of these characters in BATBB and applies a passion and sensual urgency we craved, leaving us desperate for more because of R. Linda’s incredible talent, and eagerly awaiting more from this series.

If you want to read a sweet, seductive #Romance, do yourself a favor and buy this entire series. You will want to read it again and again!

I've got to say - I am absolutely adoring this series!

I fell in love with Bailey and her Bad Boy so I was hanging to find out what was going on between Indie and Linc...especially with those subtle little hints we got in the first book that there was something more happening between these two.

Well written, heartwarming and exactly what I felt like reading!

I adore YA series books...particularly the ones that effortlessly connect characters from the first book into the second!

Indie was ace...literally!

I loved that she had such strong feelings for Linc for as long as she had!

I mean - lets be real...we have all had our fair share of first loves and teenage crushes so for that fact alone I found Indie so relatable!

BIG WIN right there!

And Linc - hellooooo #swoonfactor rating - extremely HIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, nothing hits the spot better than a story of young love between two people who have loved each other from afar for a long time!

I loved watching the feelings between Indie and Linc build in tension until there was no option for them but to explode!

Oh...and it would be remiss of me not to throw out a special mention to Indie's best friend, Jack -he was hilarious and definately won the best supporting role and greatest partner in crime award for me!

Hands down!!!

I adore this series and the way each book is intertwined with characters introduced and older characters still having such a strong influence on the plot!

I cannot recommend this book and or this series more!

5 stars for a beautiful tale of young love and all the angst that goes along with it!

I fell fast and hard for Ryder Freaking Jones in BAILEY AND THE BAD BOY, so I knew any male R. Linda wrote promised to destroy me in the best way possible. Lincoln Andrews was that – the best, most deliciously swoon-worthy character I have read (I still love you, Ryder..but..Linc!).
