It's the final battle.

The Empire's plans have come to fruition. Duran has fallen, and with it the other city-states of Nehatra. Only the dungeon town remains safe, but for how long? While the leadership struggle to deal with the crisis, the dungeon dwellers watch on. As Doc continues to unlock new slime evolutions, Rowen deepens his bond with Milly, and the two experience much together. When the final attack begins, will Rowen and Doc stand with the townspeople? Why has Doc been framed for murder? Who is the traitor lurking in the shadows?
Everything comes together in this final, epic tale of dungeon glory. The chronicles end here, but the war, and the dungeon, have only just begun.

-Includes complete list of slimes.

Not worth it. I like the setting, premise, and the story had lots of potential, but I can't get over the characters. They're almost all brats, arrogant asses, or some commination of that and evil. Where's the growth? Where's any speck of maturity or character development? I'd hoped that by the fourth story the characters would be better.
Killing most of them and devolving the rest is not something I want to read.

This book was a letdown. I so enjoyed Book #1 and from then on it has been downhill. This author has forgotten the core concept of the Slime Dungeon should be the Dungeon. Too much of this book (and the previous 2) was focused on what was happening outside the Dungeon. There wasn't even any stat screens in this book.

Mostly not that interesting

While there are things happening, there is not much development in terms of character, some dungeon evolution. I almost couldn't remember the beginning of the book by the book's end after a week. Probably going to skip on the rest of the series.

All in all a good read, like it predecessors it as a easy writing and rather simply story to follow.
The end became a bit confusing tough, as suddenly lots of things happened all at once.

Note: I have a backlog of reviews so what follows is short and to the point. Spoilers will not be called out. Typos likely since I won’t be proof reading.

Books 2-4 all get the same review.

Re-reading this series did not do it any favors. I was apparently more taken with this genre when I first read it. Upon re-reading I found it somewhat lacking in inspiration, albeit well told especially for the "dungeon" genre that draws amatuer authors. Still the tropes are annoying: bad guys repeatedly underestimating the force needed to accomplish their goals so they keep failing to invade the dungeon. King gets credible information of impending attack on the capital but does nothing because surely that can't happen here.

Bottom line: probably better than average for the genre but still has some major flaws, including the series is never actually resolved, instead the author just turns this series into a lead-in for his next series which is way over-the-top in a bad way.

Goddesses, demons, divine favors, big mistakes, and strange plot points make this a rather interesting addition that sets up not one, not two, but three major story lines (One of which is already released as a short story).

The Slime Dungeon Chronicles was the first piece of LitRPG I came across when I was getting into the genre and I have to say that it holds a unique position in what I've read. Reading it and the Divine Dungeon back to back, some of their plots blend together, but they are both unique entities that have their own goals and drive.

Without giving away too much, I'm glad that the Falcon has gone off into other directions with the other characters. It gives them all growing room so that the stories can focus on who they wish, rather than who they have to.

Overall, a nice story, and I look forward to the next.

Last Book of the Prologue?

Four books of prologue indicates some serious world building. Although this is a Dungeon Core Series the events in the wider world play a larger part in the plot than in most other Dungeon Core books I've read -- though to be fair, I discovered this writing genre only a few moths before starting this Series, so my sampling size is small.

In this Novel the forces targeting the City States of Nahetra and the Slime Dungeon finally come out of the shadows. The Dungeon, the Adventurers, and the people of Nahetra must all decide who to trust and how to face the threat posed by The Empire.

This novel, and the Series which it closes, will likely appeal to fans of the Fantasy, Dungeon Core, and LitRPG genres as well as those who are fans of playing RPGs.

The fight scenes in this arent as good as the previous books. I was definitely interested in the Millie/Rowen development, but I am 'meh' about literally everyone else in this book. The dialogue didnt improve.

Something really irritating: I am still wondering why in the fourth book in this series, we are STILL spending chapters of the book recapping literal details and backstory of all the previous books? Who in the world is picking up/starting this series at book 4? Are the characters really that forgettable that we need to be reminded who they are and what their life story is at the beginning of every book?

Even with all that, it wasnt a bad story... Even if the bad guys did reveal their plot to the reader in a cliche cartoon fashion. :P

Overall this was a good series...

I think this was a good series the first three books were fun, this book was more less suitable and enjoyable...I think there's great time to be had here. Though I sort of feel like the author sort of left a couple lines hanging that maybe didn't need to be left hanging. The story was fun and yes, I get that this is a prequel but anyone whose read any of the mistworld series or D.R.Rosiers or any of Terry Pratchett's work to know that a setting up your world doesn't necessarily mean leaving the readers semi-unsatisfied...I mean this book was good but the ending was a little weak.

I have a love/hate with this book...

The series takes you through twists and turns, laughs and cries, awws and ewws; is a really good story.
But it ends like a exploded yarn ball, so many threads to follow and little hope to find the end of it... I will keep my eyes on the author for the next series based on this universe he created in hopes that it comes some time soon or he will find himself cursed with my ghost until the end of times.

A 12hr audio book. I agree with the other reviews I have read about this story had too many characters and most of them never really developed to get stronger or learn anything of value. Overall though worth reading once if you are into LitRPG, and I am. I was most disappointed about the level of death, (Trying not to spoil anything) a city of a million people did less damage than 100 or so adventurers!!! WHAT???

Book 4 is starting to show Logue's improvement as an author. While not great yet, the narrative and characterization in this book are vastly improved over the previous three. Likewise the writing is still on the amateurish side (especially the adjectives) but there is progress here as well. I'm looking forward to seeing how much he improves on his next book.

Satisfying Conclusion

I've followed this story for a long time on rrl and reading on kindle unlimited. I feel like this provided a good conclusion to the story that was presented and leaves it open for more stories to come. Congrats Falcon.

Decent series

And so another series comes to an end.
I didn't really like the way it ended, but I understand that there will be more adventures in this world, and with this dungeon, so it was necessary to end it in the fashion it was.
I can recommend this series.

Enjoyable

The story was enjoyable and rather fast paced. Still plagued by editing problems so common in self and small publishing. Also at times it seemed the author forgot or ignored his own cannon while telling the tale. Still it was a fun and flavorful treat.

Cool new slimes

The final battle was a twist and the lich slime was cool. The fact that the old dungeon master took over a slime was a bit over kill but moves the plot along.

Not a bad finish

I was satisfied with this ending. The author needs to work on his pacing and explanations, but it remains a good story.

Very unsatisfactory ending, too much loose ends, feels like half a book, adding lazy writing, and kinda boring rabbits out the hats – below mediocre book.

I have enjoyed this series and the adventures the dungeon has faced as one of the central characters. There are a lot of strong characters in the series, sometimes they are working together to try to protect the town but other times they are more adversarial as the adventurers try to defeat the dungeon.

Overall, I think the story is enjoyable and tends to be something I can read very quickly. It is interesting and fun enough to keep me engaged but is also the kind of light hearted read we need after a day full of stress.

Alright now this book really deserves a review. Mr. Logue how could you do that to us?! Come on! They had such a little time together. At least let them get engaged properly that was such a kick to the balls. Really... Well besides that bit of complaining. Have to admit that particular incident did help to develop Milly. Although really she is now starting to seem VERY VERY VERY VERY creepy.... It upped her creep factor by a significant margin. I kind of imagined her like Gollum saying "My Precious.." in a very creepy and loving manner. I so can't wait to read the continuation of this series. I first picked up the first book and it has been sitting in my library for while now. Finally read it and its awesome. I can't wait to see what new kinds of slimes become created. Also I would like to learn more about Doc's purpose well this is an awesome story and can't wait to read the next installation.
