An excellent planning resource!
A word to the wise from a reasonably experienced traveler in Europe:
Neophyte European travelers will find that experience and time are the limiting resources when it comes to pre-planning a first trip to a destination as large and complex as Barcelona. The Eyewitness Travel Top 10 format provides more than enough details to allow for an informed choice between competing destinations but unlike many of the competing alternative guides, it makes no attempt to be encyclopedic drowning an unsuspecting reader in so much knowledge that choices become next to impossible.
Eyewitness Travel Guides seem to have the market beat by a long margin! That's not to say that Lonely Planet, Frommer, Michelin or the Blue and Green Guides miss the mark entirely but the Eyewitness series, in general, seems to be more informative. The photographs and illustrations instill a higher degree of keen anticipation and provide a better means of choosing in advance between a world of competing destinations and alternative tourist attractions. And I can't say enough about the Top 10 format ... dozens of lists - events, restaurants, hotels, museums, walks, churches, bars, great spots for children, insider tips and so much more. Whether your taste in vacations runs to exploring the hot night life spots or scoping out the most exciting history that museums and art galleries have to offer, TOP 10 BARCELONA will make your trip easier to plan and more enjoyable in the doing.
Portability, durability, sensible layout and organization not to mention the included maps of the city and the metro system make TOP 10 BARCELONA the correct choice to tote along with you while you're actually out and about in the city as well.

Everything you need to know is in this guide and the pull out map was the best one I saw while I was there. I thought the book was a little large or heavy but it's not really. Saw other people with much bigger ones,

These Eyewitness guides are really well done and come complete with easy to use maps. This one on Barcelona was my constant companion on a recent trip and indispensable in helping us navigate around the city with ease.

Essa coleção Top 10 da DK é realmente muito boa. E a vantagem é que é bem mais fácil encontrar a edição mais atual aqui no Brasil do que as outras coleções de guia. Curto, objetivo e bem atualizado, vale a pena!

This review is for the previous edition, which i don't see listed. I know this isn't the most substantial guide, but I found it absolutely fabulous for the two days I spent in Barcelona in the summer of 2011. It was clear, concise, easy to read, and gave me a clear idea of some things I wanted to see while I was there. I went on a couple of the self-guided walking tours as well as exploring many of the parks and locations with its guidance. I would definitely use this travel series again.

It's difficult to rate this book because I went on holiday with my sister, brother-in-law and my 2 1/2 year old nephew. I didn't finish the book before the holiday was done, but as it turns out 2 1/2 year old boys don't really adhere to travel guide advice, so it was rarely used. It did however give good advice on kid-friendly activities; and it was easy to read. So, 4 stars - why not? We'll go back and tick a few more things off the list, and the guide will be handier then.

OK for quick highlights but I would not recommend this book. I did not find that I would like to visit the top ten of anything in the city except for top 10 sites. Bars, restaurants, etc are nice to know but when you are in the middle of your day...not so easy to use. I would recommend using the maps found at the Metro and from the hotel you stay at instead. Look up top 10 must see sites online.

These books are just perfect for a quick trip -- they have just enough information to help you see the most popular and important sights, in a small, compact book. I love the maps, and that the pages are slightly waterproof (waxy?). I love tucking these into my shoulder bag and whisking away on a trip!

I obtained the 2002 version so it's out of date but still provides the relevant information required for my trip. :) La Ramblas is not what I expected it to be. It was by far the worst place we visited in Barcelona.

Book was great for my quick trip in Barcelona. Gave great suggestions of places to hit while there. Enjoyed as it was easy to put in my purse!
