From 21st Century New York to Regency England, stepping into the cupboard can bring more surprises than you bargained for! When Melissa begins work on restoring the painting of an intriguing aristocratic lady, little does she know that her story, and that of her subject, are about to become entwined. Transported back to the time of Dukes and stately balls, grand houses and gracious ladies, Melissa finds herself playing the part of her alter-ego Charlotte. As she navigates her way through the social airs and graces of her new-found life she soon discovers that being a woman in the time of the Regency is very different to the life she had lived in New York City. Her mannerisms, thought processes and even her dreams changes as she slowly becomes a lady of the Regency herself. But as she journeys through her time in the past, and encounters the rich cast of characters contained therein, Melissa soon discovers that it’s easy to be happy, for love is the same whatever the time, or place.
Time travel story about a girl who is obsessed with a woman in the painting and then ends up in a time when that woman was alive. The story is short. Good thing there is. You have her in the present where is working in an art museum who is heartbroken and then you have her in past as a girl who is courted by rich Marquez and Duke, her brother BFF. From the beginning, you will see who she will choose. The fun part is she didn't believe what is happening. She thought she is in a reality show but wondering how she got there. Her getting used to London and past was interesting. Her removing is American accent to British accent so that nobody noticed she is not who everybody thing she is. I read it on whim. Have it on kindle for free and was fit for my challenge so I read it. I don't regret it. It was sweet and you see from somebody who is from the future how he adapting to past.
Melissa found herself travelled to Regency era under an alter-ego, Charlotte. With no knowledge how to go back, she began adjusted herself and met Charlie, Duke of Hareburn. I gave this book a 4 stars rating. ★ It's an enjoyable fast-paced romance story. I was able to follow the narrative easily. ★ The dialogues were at times witty and romantic but not in the line of 'cheesiness'. It was refreshing for me because I loved that! ★ The plotline was interesting. A time-travel romance (though there were many books on it out there), I believe this book can stood out and the beautiful book cover also enchanting. ✩ The development of Melissa's character at the point of her travelling to the Regency time suddenly shoot up. I find it weird that she doesn't seemed very freaking out especially for a person who travelled into an unknown place and time. I find it unsatisfactory when she realized that the situation she was in are reality was written in a single sentence that she had realized it all along. ✩ This last unfulfilled star I'd give to the many questions left unanswered in this book. It was quite a whirlwind of a story. I'm happy that it was a fast-paced since it's a novella. I do not understand what was it about with the character, Maria and Marquess of Collingdale?
The story was interesting and magical. That is a no doubt. I read it in one sitting, and though at the end my brow was raised, I quirk a smile at the end.
My Time with the Duke is a fun, quick time slip romance that was entertaining and piked my interest to read the rest of this trilogy.
I rarely mention this as it does not affect the rating I give a book, but this one really could have used a fresh set of eyes for proofreading.
As a restorer of works of art, Melissa often gets to view some amazingly beautiful paintings… but she’s never found herself within that beautiful scene before now. Somehow Melissa has left behind the modern day world of New York City and stepped into the Regency era, as an alter-ego of Charlotte. Not knowing how to get back, she slowly finds herself melding into this new to her time period, and catching the eye of some most eligible gentlemen as well. But it’s Cecil who has captured her heart, but is he destined to hold on to that emotional part of her?
I enjoyed My Time with the Duke. I don’t get to read as many Time Slips as I once did, but this one gave me a few smiles along the way. And the proof that true love will find you… no matter where you are.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
It was refreshing, light and kind of fun. The marquess wanted to marry her, but she was not comfortable with him. She loved the Duke of Hareburn, Cecil. The difference between the two era's is an interesting contrast in this story. The characters were marvelous and seemed very life like. The descriptions kept your interest in the tale. The plot was not overly complex but just enough to keep you reading. The author did a great job, well written, smoothly moving and evenly paced.
This is intriguing and romantic. Melissa transitions into Charlotte effortlessly. Her romance with Cecil is sweet and captivating. At times it was a little tedious, but it didn't take away from the storyline as a whole. Normally I prefer my time travel romances to be amusing, but I did like this one. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Angel Heart Publishing. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
I enjoyed the book. Highlighting the difference between now and then. Watching Melissa/Charlotte embrace the regency period and getting to know Cecil. My only problem was someone needed to proofread this book. It would have caught some errors.
