Alien Abduction #5

Heroic Abduction

Rate this book
He’ll do anything to be her knight in purple armor.

Bucking family tradition, Dyre is determined to become his planet’s first hero, even if it breaks his mother’s heart. He sets out on numerous quests to save the universe, however his altruism never seems to turn out quite as expected. Who knew doing the right thing was so hard?

In between saving those who don’t want his help—and the chaos that follows—he rescues a damsel in distress. She doesn’t appreciate his heroic abduction, and even worse, once Dyre gets to know the outspoken human, he entertains less than noble thoughts about ravishing her.

It takes only a couple of comical mishaps, some hot kisses and danger for Dyre and Betty to discover their happily ever after—and thank the stars for a heroine who ends up saving this hero, and the galaxy, from his chivalrous side.

Genre: Science Fiction / Alien/ Fantasy Romance

He’s big, he’s purple and he wants to be a hero, not a mercenary. Too bad he’s got bad genes working against him.

Heroic Abduction by Eve Langlais

Hilarious.
The Unofficial Guide to Heroism verses the Mercenary Guide in previous books.
This purple alien does the opposite of what his family considers proper and does good deeds and rescues. Or at least he tries.

Betty, the heroine, was one of the teens abducted from Earth awhile back. (From Dual Abduction.)

From Betty:
Purple aliens are dumb!
They don’t understand.

From Dyre:
“Heroes didn’t plan. They acted.”
“They plied him with riches, begging him to go”

Very hot and steamy. Lots of laughable comments and situations.
Science fiction romantic comedy.

Heroic Abduction is book five in the Alien Abduction series by Eve Langlais.

Several years have passed from this book and Dual Abduction. In Heroic Abduction we get one of the teenager girls who’s now grown into a women and looking for adventure.

Betty longs for more then a life in Av Village with a bunch of clucking hens. She wants adventure and freedom. She set out with a plan, but this purple dummy has ruined it by trying to be a hero… What’s a girl to do?

Dyre left his home world to seek adventure and live the Hero life instead of the Mercury way. He finds being a hero tough and no one seems to be grateful for his help. So, what if he destroyed a sacred forest, he got the monster, didn’t he?

Ah, these two where a lot of fun! It’s hilarious from begging to end. There’s adventure and hot sex. I liked that we have a guy trying his hardest to be a hero which is the opposite of what these purple aliens are about. It was also nice to see the human rescue the alien for once. Betty is cynical, feisty, and capable although she too gets herself into lots of trouble. Their back and forth dialogue cracked me up. Their attraction is quick, but it develops nicely into a relationship that works.

Heroic Abduction was fun, enjoyable, and hilarious. It can be read as a stand alone, but I’d at least recommend reading Dual Abduction first.

Duuuude. Dyre was so cute! If you're looking for an alpha male who is so unintentionally adorable, this is your book!

Dyre just wants to help his damsel in distress and be her hero.

description

Too bad Betty doesn't want a hero.

***

This is a light, fluffy read that will leave you with a smile on your face. I loved how different Dyre was as a hero. He's on this noble quest of being a hero and on his way he comes across Betty. At first she's just another damsel in distress, but he soon realizes that there's more to her than meets the eye. Dyre is always up for another quest so he decides to aid Betty in locating someone. His life goal is to be a hero, how cute is that? And how oblivious he was to the damage he was actually doing? Lol, too funny.

Overall, I enjoyed this sweet little alien story. Dyre is an awesome character! I will be checking out more books by this author!

description

One of the funny moments...
Tucking his pistol in its holster, he then used his free hand to grip the female around the waist and hoist her over his shoulder. She showed her immediate appreciation by pounding him on the back, easing some tense muscles, and trying to alleviate his burden by screaming, "Put me down."

Flawed Hero!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Chemistry: 🧪🧪🧪🧪
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🙃🙁😀😋
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Dyre - he wants to become the Hero of his planet, so he doesn’t go the mercenary route like his family. To be good went against his natural instincts, so it was a constant struggle. He often asked why it was so hard to be good and noble. Especially when his parents want him to go the route of the other boys, stealing and murdering. His father ended up banishing him, and he was good with that. He wanted to battle the forces of evil, saving the downtrodden and rescuing maidens. Though often the people he rescued and saved didn’t appreciate it he expected.

“Good thing he hadn’t become a hero for the thanks. It was amazing how many people cursed him or tried to kill him when he saved them from themselves. Some even attacked him at the cost of their lives. More than one planet had banned him after a gallant act.”
“It is my duty to save them, whether they want it or not.”

The heroine: Betty - she had been abducted from earth a while ago and now was just trying to make her way in the galaxy as a mercenary. Her plan was to get kidnapped by a hairy troll and taken back to his lair where it was told he had untold riches. However, some bumbling (but cute) Hero got in her way and got all the locals up in arms in the process.

The Story: Dyre was quite an unconventional character, different than in most alien romance. He was a bit of an idiot, and he was completely oblivious to what was happening around him. He also had quite an inflated ego, despite the fact that so many people didn’t receive his acts as helpful to their situation. When he rescues the human female, he is surprised because he has only heard that the earthlings are barbarians and not on the approved list of galactic travelers. She told him that many human females had been trafficked and that he had messed up her plan, and she needed to be rescued from the horde that now chased them because of his act.

Dyre is delightfully misguided, and I love the contrast between his grand heroic aspirations and the reality of how people react to his “help.” His unwavering dedication to saving others—whether they want it or not—adds a layer of tragic irony to his character. There’s something fascinating about a hero whose noble intentions continually backfire, yet he refuses to reconsider his approach. His obliviousness makes him both frustrating and endearing, setting him apart from the typical brooding or hypercompetent alien protagonists.

Betty, on the other hand, seems wonderfully pragmatic, balancing out Dyre’s misplaced enthusiasm with her sharp survival instincts. Her mercenary mindset and realistic approach to navigating the galaxy make her the perfect foil to his well-meaning but misguided heroics. Their first encounter—him inadvertently ruining her careful plan—sets up a great dynamic. She’s out here trying to make calculated moves, and he crashes in, convinced he’s saving the day.

This one had the makings of a compelling alien romance, one where the hero’s earnestness collides with real-world consequences, and the heroine is forced to deal with the fallout. There’s a lot of potential in their chemistry: will Betty slowly teach Dyre the nuance of heroism, or will he stubbornly cling to his flawed ideals? Either way, it was both entertaining and emotionally rich. It was a fun one for certain.

This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by J.F. Harding and Holly Chandler. J.F. Harding has a terrific voice, a bit gruff and gravelly. He is also plenty expressive which I like. Holly Chandler has a clear, strong voice and is just as expressive as J.F., so they work well together.

An alien sci-fi romp that had me grinning, sighing, groaning and wishing I could find my own huge purple alien hero.

Dyre left his home world to seek out adventure and live according to his own rules for being a hero instead of the usual mercenary. He finds being a hero a tough thing to achieve and no one ever seems to be grateful for his help. So he accidentally burned down some people's forest and sacred trees, he got the dragon, didn't he? And what's with the feisty female he has just rescued from being sacrificed to a huge disgusting beast of an alien? She has the audacity to say that she had it handled. He finds the little barbarian female from earth just too cute for words and decides he'll stick with her and her companion for a while in a continuing effort to aid the damsel in distress.

Betty eyes up the big purple alien who 'rescued' her in the middle of her acquisition mission and insists on coming with her and helping her further. Is he for real? Surely Dyre plans to get something for his effort. But, she'll go with it all and wait her big chance. She has her own ideas of a heroic mission to accomplish and if along the way she can see what all the fuss is about mating then so be it.

The plot was hilarious from beginning to end. There is adventure and hot sexy times, but underlying it all is the fun. I love the idea of a guy trying his hardest to earn the title of hero and end up doing the opposite with his help and it was great to have the human rescuing the alien for once. Betty is the cynical, feisty, and capable one although she too gets herself into lots of trouble because she doesn't take kind advice about safety well and doesn't take warnings seriously. In the end, they both have to be heroes to make it through. Their back and forth dialogue cracked me up because at first they really didn't understand each other's thought processes. Their attraction came quick, but it developed into a relationship and partnership which was nice. Not to say, they weren't taking advantage of flat surfaces both vertical and horizontal.

All together, it's just a riot of a book in the Alien Abduction series. It can be read as a stand alone, but it does have loose ties to the rest of the series. Fans of light sci-fi romance should give this one a spin.

Thanks to the author for sending me a copy of her book in exchange for my honest review thoughts.

What does it take to become a hero in a family of mercs? Some comedy, a little heat, & a lot of action. Langlais serves this all up with a side of out of this world adventure. This novel has a well written flow that enhances the feel of the story. The unofficial guide to heroism was… well… Oh you’ll just have to read the story. I can’t put its pricelessness into words, especially not against the mercenary’s guide.

I swear, every time Dyre opens his mouth he made me laugh. I love how he strives to be himself, even if it rarely turns out as expected. Betty’s unique mix of human and Zonian beliefs made her into quite the feisty damsel, even if she was always in distress.

This novel is a fairy tale fantasy meets ignoble space alien in a comical and at times heated adventure through the galaxy. It was a blast to read.

Dyre is on a quest to help and save people, and his family is not happy with him. This is not what they wanted for him, since the family legacy is mercenary.
When Dyre comes face to face with a pale human woman, he decides to make her his next quest, whether she wants to or not.
Betty is trying to find her best friend who´s disappeared, and Dyre is getting in her way. But the tempting man isn´t taking no for an answer, and he´s really hard to resist. Can they make it work, and come to terms about their relationship?
Sci-fi romance, action and smutty fluff in a great combo. Love these purple heroes!

Dyre's determined to rescue Betty, whether she likes it or not: Bucking family tradition, he is determined to become his planet’s first hero, even if it breaks his mother’s heart. He sets out on numerous quests to bring justice to the universe. However, his altruism never seems to turn out quite as expected. Who knew doing the right thing was so hard?

The fifth book in the series is an hilarious addition to the series. The mercenary angle had grown stale over the course of the first four books. This role reversal brought new life to the storyline, and may very well be my new favorite in the series:-)

The quotes from the mercenary guidebook and the galactic hero guidebook really highlight Dyre's internal struggles. He is delightfully clueless as to how his butchered heroic attempts screw up people's lived, so much that they generally wish him dead... or worse. When he rescues a headstrong human not-so-damsel-in-distress after all; Betty, he has to work overtime to suppress his inborn, mercenary and very un-heroic needs to ravish her. As this is an Eve Langlais story, hilarity ensues.(Fear not, dear damsels, you'll get plenty of hot & steamy scenes as well!)

I was sorely tempted to give this sexy piece of fluff 5 stars. However, I think I'll settle for 4.5 stars and 5 cheers for the misunderstood purple hero & Eve Langlais. Her stories never fail to bring a smile to my face:-)

Who needs a hero? I do after reading this book. LOL….Heroic Abduction is full of fun, adventure, romance and some hidden surprise along the way.
Eve is known to write he purple aliens with a lot of quirky fun but this time around you get a surprise in one of the love scenes. At first it shock me because Eve doesn’t write like this but it really fit the characters and it really did make the whole book more fun.

I loved reading both hero and heroine, they had just the right amount of heat level right off the bat to keep the story going. Betty is strong and keeps the big purple hero on the run trying to keep her but out of trouble, but hay, a girl has got to save her friend at whatever cost. Right? Dyre tries his best to win Betty over to no avail, until he gets a call from one of his parents. Who knew that a rift with family could be the link he needed to seal his fate with his mate.

The story is really fun but it did drag just before I got to the half way. So, if you find the story dragging for you too, please press on.

I recommend this to anyone who loves adventure and sexy fun in a Sci-Fi romance. I recommend this to anyone who loves fun, adventure and sexy fun in a Sci-Fi romance. This book is part of a series but each are standalone, I have read some but not all in this series

Although I have been enjoying this series so far, I didn't love this one as much the others. The H, Dyre, was super sweet and tried to do the right thing, but I felt the h, Betty, was TSTL (she even said so to herself at one point) because she kept getting herself and everyone else into dangerous, life-threatening situation because she was insanely self-centered. I think that Dyre had to lose his beliefs and morals in order to win Betty's love and respect and I thought that was bullshit.

I will keep reading the books in this series because they are hot, light and fun, but this one was only ok to me. I hope the author keeps writing about more of these characters in this series because they are seriously entertaining!

A misguided hero whose thoughts about himself are written with over the top humour. I would have completed this book earlier if not for replaying many sections just for the LOL value. The level of humour did lessen a bit as the H and h's relationship developed but when the humour wained, there was the hot sex to look forward to.

These two were a lot of fun! Dyre was a hoot, and I loved his confidence and his unwavering mission, of course, that all changes with Betty. Loved her too, and how she made her own discoveries about herself, the more she hung around her purple hero <3

5 "Good behavior is overrated. I’d say being bad was much more fun.” stars

How can I say this was the best of the best in the series and not smile so damn hard?

Meet Dyreokulan the Hero (or so he calls himself) but everyone else in the galaxy just calls him the Dyreokulan the Menace since his unwanted heroic stunts just leaves everyone disgruntled and pissed.
But he doesn't let their hate get to him, it is the hero's path after all. And it is a lonely one. And he must accept it with honor and humility.

description

Dyre is a mighty fine Kulin warrior extraordinaire whose his race's paths often take the Mercenary career. But no, not for Dyre, his inclinations are bent towards the good kind. And so off he went to be a galactic hero even so much as to making his own "Unofficial Guide to Heroism Book" in contrast to the Mercenary Guide. It was quite hilarious! I freaking laughed my ass off the entirety of my reading this book.

This hero is the brave, heroic and unintentionally cute kind. Who at first you'd think is just a bumble of naivete and foolish morals, it turns out he has quite the rare perception and intelligence not to mention his oh-so-hot physique. *drools*

Then he meets human Earthling, Betty, former juvie and current Zonian acquisition specialist with a secret mission.

Dyre saves her from a terrible fate in which she didn't want to be saved from. And the rest after their comical meeting, the humour follows chapter by chapter. Add in the spice of lust and romance, adventure, gory fights and gooey alien parts and BAM! you got Eve Langlais' Heroic Abduction. Reading and being to be able to watch Betty's terrible influence rub off Dyre was off-the-charts hilaarious.

Favorite Quotes

“Don’t think I don’t dislike you.”
“I shall make it my life’s purpose to change your mind,” was his reply

"Didn’t you promise to punish me if I ever put myself in danger again?” she murmured.
“Yes.”
She whirled in his grasp and held a knife to his throat. Her voice shook with mirth as she said, “Oh, Dyre. I’m threatening the most dangerous alien in the universe"

So happy I've read this. Best sci-fi erotica read I've ever read so far.

Eve Langlais is one of my favorite author because her books never fail to make me laugh. Heroic Abduction went above and beyond in the humor department. For example he called himself Dyreokulan the hero while everyone called him Dyreokulan the Menace behind his back. I laughed until I cried when I read that because I kinda agreed with them.

Betty is a human which works against her because she is so rare that everyone wants her. While that sounds good, it isn’t because mostly they want to eat her. I liked that she had a penance for finding trouble. It was like it was drawn to her and somehow she came out smelling like a rose. I think the funniest part is that she knew it wasn’t going to end up going well but she couldn’t help herself.

Dyre wants to be a hero but really he is just a pain. His idea of being a hero just puts him in the way. It was cute but I could see how no one else appreciated it. I loved how he had no idea that certain gifts of his were actually trying to kill him. Eventually his idea of a hero changed and he was no longer a menace.

My favorite part was how they got together. I guess rebelling against your parents never get old. Lol It is also a very hot read but I mean it is an Eve book so that is to expected. I’m going to be honest aliens aren’t my thing normally but I will be tuning in for the next book. I think it is going to be even funnier than this one and that is saying something. If you like romance and paranormal than you should try Eve Langlais because she is amazing.

~Special thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.~

I've never fully enjoyed the color purple. That's until I started reading this series and met all of these delightful alien hunks! Eve, as always, packed the story with humor, fun, excitement and an awesomely different romance that keeps a reader hooked!

Dyre is a bit of an outcast of his kind. It's not that he's a bad guy, it's the exact opposite to be honest. It's his choices in life that lead him to meet his damsel, Betty and save her from...
Let's just say he saves her many times in many ways. He also bends a few rules for his damsel, but is it enough for her?

I've read every book in the Alien Abduction series and enjoyed each one. They're each written so they can be read as stand alone's without the reader being lost in space or anything like that. Each one is a real trip! lol
A 4.5 rating rounded to a solid 5.

Super fun, really loved that he's a Hero not a Mercenary like everyone else it was super cute seeing him feel conflicted every time he acted like a mercenary and I really enjoyed it. Ended a little iffy but oh well.

I hope there's a Book for Clarabelle but I don't think so. I really wanted other humanoid males besides the Kulin Warriors so I got excited with these bronze lizard shifters but the next few books all got purple guys on them so probably won't happen.

This is book 5 in the alien adduction series. The story was absolutely hilarious. They have gone funnier and funnier as I've went.this is the story of a would be hero who is deep down a mercenary. He finds a damsel in distress who is actually a thief. Then he must decide whether he is going to let his mercenary or his heroic side prevail.

I almost DNF it.

Luckily I didn't and chose to proceed or I would've missed some good parts. I actually was annoyed with saving the damsel in distress and the knight in shining armor thing that prompted me to think to give it up.

If it weren't for their sizzling chemistry and interesting. funny banter and conversation, I think I might give up for real.

“Every mercenary should have a distinctive title – usually with the word Greatest.” – A Mercenary’s Guide to Prosperity
“Heroes require no recognition.” – The Unofficial Guide to Heroism

Heroic Abduction is an amazing read with a hot sexy purple alien that will have your stomach hurting from laughter. Filled with adventure, romance, and an awesome heroine with an amazing sense of humor who is not afraid to follow her gut feelings. I could not get enough of this story.

Dyre has decided to follow his own dream of becoming a hero and deviating from his mercenary heritage. This has driven his family so crazy they have pretty much disowned him. Our hero embarks on a quest to fulfill his destiny, only things doesn't go exactly as planned. Too bad he doesn't have this guy:

In his latest adventure, Dyre saved a human barbarian named Betty, who'd be right pretty if someone dunked her in purple dye, from a dangerous troll.

Betty is a human which works against her because she is so rare that everyone wants her. While that sounds good, it isn’t because mostly they want to eat her. When she was rescued she was furious. She didn't need any rescue.

I like how Betty had a penance for finding trouble and how Dyre likes that of her so he can rescue her. When he thinks he have a chance to show her his 'heroic action', Betty always ruin it.
Is she seriously doing this on purpose to put herself in danger? How fantastic. He’d finally get to save her properly, soak in her appreciation, and then kiss her as he swept her off her feet.

He should have known she’d ruin a perfectly good plan.

“I don’t require defending.”
“Says the guy who couldn’t take down the big hairy monster.”
“I was giving him a chance to walk away.”

Betty's friend, Zista was also very funny. She approved of Dyre being with Betty and I find her conversation with Dyre just so funny and how she makes Betty see that Dyre is good for her.

In the end, I am glad that they have a HEA and the scenes with his parents are just plain funny.

Dyre wants to be a hero and not a mercenary. This goes against his parents' and culture's ways. While he claims to be a hero, his attempts at helping have led him to be named Dyre the Menace instead. His antics lead to him trying to save a virgin maiden sacrifice must to her displeasure. She is no virgin and had a plan to steal riches instead. Sparks fly between Dyre and Betty. It eventually leads to Betty telling Dyre to claim and mate her to spite Dyre's father. Dyre comes to the realization that its better to be a hero to only his mate rather than strangers. The rest of the time it's okay to be a mercenary. Betty and Dyre's relationship is unique but they truly love each other.

It was good don't get me wrong but unlike the other stories we didn't get to see any of the old characters. To me it made the story more believable. However, it is just as funny as the other and the Purple Aliens are just as dumb as they are handsome!
Still a fun quick read. If you haven't given sci-fi or this author a chance today a good day to start. ;)

This was such a fun read! I laughed my way through the adventure that unfolded. There was action and steamy romance and the story moved along pretty quickly. The author didn't bog the story down with too much description or an information dump. This is a M/F romance with a HEA and no cliff hanger. The author writes a variety of set-ups so make sure you read the book descriptions and check out the reviews to make sure that you get one that appeals to you.

A good addition to a good series.

Sometimes you get busy with life and forget some simple pleasures. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the first 4 books in this series until I saw the author's name on Amazon. I couldn't order the rest in the series quick enough. It is a good read. Looking forward to curling up and spending some time with more Alien Abductions.

Heroic Abduction

Dyre is not the normal warrior alien. He wants to be a hero not a mercenary.

He runs into a barbaric, human female named Betty. And all bets are off. Dyre really wants to be Betty's hero. But Betty doesn't want a hero, she just wants to find her friend, Clarabelle.

What happens when the hero finds his damsel?

Great book

The stories in this series just keep getting better. This book is in keeping with romance, adventure, love and not sexy times. It is certainly one of my favorites. Love the "hero" and his misguided attempts to always do the right thing.

Heroic abduction

Betty did not wish to be rescued by Dyre but once his heroism began he had to save her. Betty ran from the natives to her little ship and Dyre kept the savages at bay. Then things got nteresting.
