Examining newly defined values and attitudes among lesbians, this study focuses on the lesbian community of San Francisco, where women organized centers providing instruction in health care, women's studies, and self-defense.
An excellent analysis of the San Francisco's lesbian-feminist community in the 70's. While Goleman herself is a straight woman, her analysis is well documented, honoring the lesbian existence and the potencial of lesbianism as a political force :)
Informative. Written with a rather clinical approach - author is quite detached and doesn't offer her own opinions on what she sees, but it can be surmized that her view is positive, from the introduction and from her position as a (admittedly straight) feminist. The book is also heartwarming, but it lacks a certain spark, since there's no underlying objective/point to be made, and it is only an analysis/description of the community.
