Buckingham was editor for Charisma Magazine until his death in 1992.

in the past i have heard speakers refered to Ms. Kuhlman as if she was like a saint with halo around her head who happened to walk on this dusty earth at one time in history and performed some miracles like what Jesus Christ did.
until i read this bio by Jamie Buckingham.
this book took off the halo around her head and made her look more humane to me. Success, failures, weaknesses, mistakes, virtues and vices...she was a human being just like us not some alien who spoke the lingo from the outer space.
Oh, she was still a saint not because of what she performed but for letting herself be used and molded in such a way by the saint-Maker, and willing to pay the price.

I read this book because my dad used to talk about Kathryn Kuhlman. I really enjoyed reading about the real woman and what her life was actually like. Fantastic perspective, not sugar coated, of what it means to be in such a public ministry.

i grew up w/ a distrust of tele-evangelist and this book didn't help. i appreciate the author's honesty. i could really feel how torn he was about writing some of the less pleasant aspects of her life since he truly cared for her. it was a very interesting read, taking me from travelling camp meetings in the 20's to mega auditoriums and television broadcasts.

The book, ''Daughter of Destiny'' is an accurate yet loving account of Kathryn's life.
It tells of a woman who allowed the Holy Spirit to have sway over her ways. This inevitably gave birth to outstanding miracles recorded in her meetings.
It can rightly be said that the ministry of intimacy was what Kathryn Kuhlman operated effectively in.
A unique secret of Kathryn's success in ministry was LOVE.
Like the Apostle Paul who said, ''the love of Jesus Christ constrains me,'' Kathryn was driven by love- her love for Jesus Christ and her love for people.
It took a woman, bereft of the love of a man, her womb barren, to love as she loved. Out of her emptiness - she gave. To be replenished by the only Lover she was allowed to have - the Holy Spirit.
It was said that her openness and love had a way of disarming even those who attacked her.
Another secret of Kathryn's platform greatness was her capacity of concentration - her ability to continue to function despite obvious distractions. She knew that her ability to concentrate on the voice of the Holy Spirit demanded that all distractions be removed. Kathryn often demonstrated a masterful self-control and concentration in a time when everyone else was on the verge of panic.
Also, another secret that made her successful in ministry was the treatment she rendered to people - there were no ''little people'' around her, everyone was important, big.
Her humility before God was another vital ingredient to her success. She often saw herself as the most ordinary person in the whole world. This she often admitted in her meetings.
The book also brought to focus a woman despite her mistakes yet with doggedness and forthrightness returned back to her Maker - slaying of the Egyptian guard earned Moses exile in the wilderness of Midian - which would bring him to the place of total surrender to God's perfect plan for his life.
God indeed has a way of taking our rebellion, our sins, our flagrant disobedience, and molding them into our future tensile strength when we turn to Him.
LESSON LEARNT:
A life utterly presented to the Holy Spirit to make use of, will ultimately turn out to be a wonder to many.

This book was recommended on the podcast Annie F Downs. I had a lot of memories of past evangelists and even some memories of similar experiences going to healing services when I was a little girl. The author was fair, as she portrayed Kathryn life. If we had not seen her be an imperfect person, I would have questioned this time in history. I learned and will reflect more on the Holy Spirit. I love reading books that change me.

God can use anybody, anyhow, anyway, and anytime.
She had the move of God in her life, God truly used her. There are times I had to stop reading so I could pray. Yes, she is late, but this book is very anointed with the Holy Spirit. I felt all her emotions. I cried, smiled, prayed, jumped, etc.
Thank God she wrote this. Thank you, Jamie Buckingham, for writing this book and the patient 😀 😀 😊 🙌 .

Insightful
This book takes you into the "world of ministry" revealing both the good and complicated parts. It sheds light on how thin the line is separating the spiritual realm from the natural. As we do from the holy scriptures, and the men and women therein, so we learn from this book and life of Kathryn Kuhlman.

I went back and forth on this one. Kuhlman's ministry benefited several people I love. I believe God does bring forth healing miracles through prayer.
But, I really didn't like her and had problems with her character.
Interesting though, and Buckingham neither hid anything nor whitewashed her life. He left us to draw our own conclusions, and I appreciated that.

Very well done biography of an extraordinary woman. Kathryn Kuhlman lived and breathed the Holy Spirit and gave her all to the work of God. Recommended.

I actually really liked this book. It gave a more human side to people in ministry. It seems for so long we have placed a high emphasis of idolizing people in ministry who are just real people. Although I was amazed at the ministry of Kathryn Kuhlman, this book gives an inside peek behind the ministry of a public figure. I love how it started at the beginning of her life. You can see how and why she formed into the woman she became.
A real woman who wanted excellence in her ministry, yearned for a relationship in marriage, and an order in her services. She saw so many healings and heaven came into her meetings and lives were powerfully & dramatically changed. In the end, I wondered why she exchanged a relationship with a man for what she experienced in her meetings? Was it worth it? Why did she put her own physical health in jeopardy to keep ministering? Definitely a powerful biography about an Amazing woman!

This is an unauthorized bio of Religious leader Kathryn Kuhlman. I enjoyed hearing about her life and journey with God. It takes you on a journey with Kathryn Kuhlman starting her ministry, enduring the growth and struggles of her time in ministry and her time in the earth. The Author gave an indepth history of her life and good portrayal of the woman of God. I always enjoy hearing about the lives of God's people and their relationship with him, he is awesome.

My mom watched Kathryn Kuhlman on TV. I can't forget her voice and manner of speaking. I didn't know about her outside the television programs. I feel she asked Jaime Buckingham to write about her because she didn't want to be a plaster saint. This book feels very honest about some of her struggles and it made me appreciate her. It just shows you don't have to be perfect to serve God's purpose. Enjoyed this read.

A fascinating book about a woman greatly used of God to touch millions of lives all over the world. Shows that God is no respecter of persons; He'll use any and every yielded vessel. Exactly how she achieved intimacy with the Holy Spirit is never really revealed. If we want to be used by God the way she was, we'll have to allow the Holy Spirit lead us into intimacy with Him.

Straightforward accounting of life as a conduit for God's healing through a ministry that had lasted for decades, but, not without it's fair share of drama, betrayal, intrigue and mudslinging. I loved it, but I'm sure it must have been a challenge living the life she lived. There will never be anyone quite like her.

A great read about a spiritual giant of the twentieth century who believed God still performs miracles. The pathos about what she had to "give up" in her personal life juxtaposed against what she gained by partnering with the Holy Spirit; her personal struggles; the difficulties running a parachurch ministry. Highly recommended!

I came to the Lord after she died but had heard of her. I was surprised by her character and reminded by God that He uses us, knowing we are not perfect.

This was a good, eye-opening book about a wonderful servant of the Lord. I was shocked and glad to know that she did not lead a perfect life. It gave me some hope at the time I read it.
