662 books158 followersI grew up without a TV, let alone DVD’s, computer games etc that my kids spend so much time engrossed in, but I learned to read at an early age and from then on I was always entertained – so much so that my friends used to hide their books when I visited them because all I wanted to do was read!
When I was a teenager I discovered Mills & Boon romances in my local library, and so began a lifelong love affair. I still remember that feeling of anticipation when I settled down with a pile of books - all bearing the famous rose logo - knowing that I would be drawn into a world of love, passion and emotional intensity that I have never found in any other books. I enjoy reading a wide range of books, especially historical novels, and I am a big fan of Agatha Christie, mainly I think because her characters seem so real, but I love romances and unashamedly admit that I only want to read books with a guaranteed happy ending. Reading is my joy and pleasure and I don’t want to cry buckets at the end of a book or have my sleep disturbed by its gruesome content.
For me, the characters in Harlequin Mills & Boon romances are the key. I love reading and writing about strong, alpha heroes and feisty, independent heroines who find that they can’t fight the blazing attraction between them.
When I married my own tall, dark, but sadly not wealthy hero, we moved out of London to the Kent coast and started a family that grew and grew. I adore my six children, and when they were small I loved being a stay-at-home mum, but there can be days, as I’m sure many of you know, when you feel isolated and – dare I say it – bored of conversing with three-year-olds. Harlequin Mills & Boon romances were my life-line and my sanity and I read them whenever I had a spare five minutes (in the bath, pacing the floor at three am with colicky baby on one shoulder and a book in the other hand!)
My imagination soared and I decided to try and write a book myself. My first attempt was typed up on a manual type-writer with the full-stop key and the letter p missing. Luckily my hero and heroine were not called Paul and Poppy, but it still meant going over my manuscript with a pen to fill in the gaps!
That first book was duly rejected as were my next two. I suppose I was disheartened and by now I had four small children and very little spare time, so although I continued to read romances, I gave up writing. It wasn’t until my youngest son started school that I tried writing again. I was struggling to come to terms with the death of my darling mum Gabrielle and writing became my therapy. Mum had always nagged me to get on and write a book and had an unshakeable belief that I would one day be published – I’m so glad that she was proved right and my biggest regret is that she isn’t here to share my success with me.
I wrote two more books which were both rejected by HM&B, but I was given some advice on my writing from the editorial team that encouraged me to try again. Third time lucky certainly applied to me – the day I received ‘the call’ was exactly four years after Mum had died. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life - but instead of chatting to the editor about contracts I had to dash off and pick my sick daughter up from school. Reality is never far away in my house!
I have now had nine books published - At the Sheikh's Bidding was released in September 08. My next book, Argentinian Playboy, Unexpected Love-Child will be out in the UK in July 09, and The Greek Billionaire's Innocent Princess in the UK in August 09. I have just had my twelfth book accepted and am already busy on my thirteenth. Now that my children are growing up I am able to write every day between 9 am and 3 pm, but often I become so involved with my characters that I sneak off to write again in the evening!

Very emotional and passionate read. It was so romantic and well written. The ending was amazing. I am so glad heroine didn't lose her baby. She was a good mother and hero was a sexy but faithful husband. Epilogue with their baby boy was sweet. I totally recommend this book. Chantelle Shaw is so talented.

H/h meet because heroine wants to convince him not to persecute her younger brother for vandalizing his yacht. Before she can talk to him about her brother, hero has seduced her. It's only the morning after that she brings up this issue. Hero is going to prosecute until he comes up with the idea of a fake engagement so a family-oriented CEO will sell him a fleet of ships.
Heroine reluctantly goes along and the hero picks out a pink, heart-shaped sapphire ring for her to wear.
They both have secrets that the reader learns early on in the story:
Heroine's father was Britain's most wanted criminal and is now in prison.
Hero, at 19, was drinking when he crashed the car that caused his father's death. He spent a year in jail.
They have learned not to trust or feel good about themselves because the hero's mother lays a guilt trip on the hero about his father's death all the time, and the heroine was rejected by her first boyfriend when he found her background.
H/h have trust issues, but that doesn't keep them from having sex while they are in Greece for their fake engagement. It all comes crashing down when the heroine is told the hero is a mob boss and she believes this stranger (!) and returns to London without telling the hero she's pregnant.
Heroine's brother sends the hero a Christmas card (that he doesn't get until January) mentioning the heroine's pregnancy. That brings the hero rushing to the heroine.
There are few more misunderstandings for the H/h for an eventual HEA. The best part of the epilogue was the heroine telling off the hero's mother for constantly criticizing the H. And this sentence, which is the ultimate fantasy:
Ava recovered remarkably quickly and was delighted to be able to fit into her jeans two months after her son’s birth.
This is very trope-tastic,but a solid HP read.

Super hot!
When our h dresses up for a ball, donning a charade, it is all to meet the H and ask him for a favor. Her brother was involved in a petty crime, and she wants to request the H to forgive him. What she does not expect is the sizzling chemistry that would ignite between herself and him, and that she would soon be pulled in a deceitful play. But with secrets engulfing both their pasts, and a new potential life on the horizon, can they learn to be honest with one another?!
Well written book with complex MCs who were not mean or stupid for once. I enjoyed the chemistry between the H and h- the angst was admirable- and the lovemaking was super hot! The ending was dramatic but satisfying.

Amazing 4.5 star easy reading. CS can totally lift up my spirits with her excellent story telling. The story was certainly enjoyable and engaging but I would’ve liked the h to be more feisty and to have held on to her v-card. The H was a high handed alpha Greek but his declaration of love by the end of the book got too poetic. It made him mellow for me but amazing, toe-curling chemistry between the h and H! Glad I read this one.

The h is not a virgin. She meets the h and that same night they have sex.
It seems like the writer still wants to make the h look a bit virginal though. Because we read that she has never had sex with a stranger (sure 🙄) and that she had never put a condom on a man’s private part before.
Uggh, this HP is too modern for me. No romance. No pursuit. Nothing. Just sex.

Ava Sheridan will do what it takes to help steer her brother away from the criminal path their father took. Trying to convince Giannis Gekas to not press charges for the damage done to his yacht by her brother's cohorts, leaves them with an unexpected path. Ava only hopes that the criminal path her father took, does not lose her Giannis.
Giannis Gekas will do anything to keep the past from coming forward and winning the bid for the shipping company in his sights. While his plans to prosecute Ava's brother are waylaid, having Ava in his life leads him to question his end goal. Finding out they were going to have a child, he just hoped his criminal past did not make him lose her too.

An ok read with lots of anguish, guilt and secrets on both sides. The ending and epilogue were a bit cheesier than normal. But, it wasn’t too bad.

Better than average Presents title. Lots of heroines have a shifty old uncle or a stepfather who pull white collar crimes like embezzling, forgery, or what have you. But this heroine rocks! Her father is doing hard time for armed robbery, and he has a history as a criminal kingpin who robs banks. I loved her emotional honesty and how she worries that her little brother will be a criminal too.
Good read. Subtract one star because the heroine never sings "Bank Robber" by the Clash.

This book is about trust. Both Ava and Giannis have had some traumatic experiences with their parents: Ava's father was a criminal, Giannis' father was killed in a car accident where he was driving drunk and for this reason he went to jail. They will have to learn to trust each other and to communicate better. This is a cute love story, low angst but very well written. I like this author and her style. I recommend it.

i always enjoy her books because of the writing & in-depth storyline. this was a different harlequin in that both gia & ava kept major secrets from each other. i loved their steamy love scenes & i like that the book started w/a "one night stand" because i instantly felt their chemistry. i would have given this book 5 stars, but i found the ending abrupt.

I enjoyed this. The angst wasn't overwhelming and the characters were likable enough and seemed t have real chemistry.
