I enjoyed the book, but there were quite a few holes in the plot. Although given this is a fairly light read, it is easy to ignore them and just follow Jack Marsh’s adventures as if they didn’t exist.

Incidentally I will be really annoyed if Simon Lorre is still alive in the next book.

SO #2

This book continues right where the first one left off. Captain Jack March is in possession of the Machinist device he is able to steal from his nemesis Simon Lorre. The device is a secret weapon that the Machinists will do anything to reacquire so Jack is tasked with delivering it to the Navy boys for safe keeping and further study. Seems simple enough, wrong! Jack’s mission explosively comes apart and goes from worse to suicidal. We meet a few very interesting characters and learn some of the history of the universe in this installment, which make it even more vital that Jack deliver the device safely.

I have to admit, I found it very reckless how Simon abandoned the device in the first place. I also struggled with how a brain washed elite operative just decides to quit and unplugs from the Final Consciousness. I still don’t get the explanation behind Simon’s secret secondary objective which couldn’t have been anticipated until after the primary objective failed, confused? Me too.

Who cares, I still enjoyed it and I’m ready for the adventure to continue!

A strong story set in space about spies and marines that defend one aspect of humans against a range of other aliens.
Jack March is one of these spies. He is tasked with delivering an ancient device to his Navy. It introduces; The Navy, both asteroidal & man-made worlds, mechanical enhanced people, a planetary defence AI, along with a little bit of romance (just a little:)
This is Jon Moeller’s second in this series and it has his usual quality style & construction, certainly up to his usual high standard of Fantasy he has delivered in the past.
Characters are well fleshed out, we get a bit more backstory. Tale rolls out consistently and at a good pace. There are only a couple of locations involved but they are easy to imagine and the space battles are always a plus:)

Sometimes secrets can kill. This time Jack March got his hands on such a secret. Actually a very ancient but powerful device from a powerful alien civilisation, but one that the Machinists originally discovered.
Jack was fortunate enough to have gotten hold of it from Rustbelt skirmish with the Machinists.
And they want it back, whatever the cost.
Silent Order: Wraith Hand is another action packed wrangle that can lead to the Calaskar Kingdom's demise if the Calaskaran scientists cannot examine and find some protection against the effects of device.
With that background and clever manoeuvrings going on it is small wonder I finished reading this book in a personal best time.
Enjoy.

Silent Order: Wraith Hand continues the story of our enhanced secret agent, Jack March. This episode gives more details about their hideous enemy and how they came to be. The science behind interstellar travel is well thought out and to me it seems “realistic” if I may use that word about Science Fiction.

The empire Jack March works for is not perfect but it is vastly better than the mind-slavery offered by the bad guys. Actually, that is the way I feel about the USA. Be that as it may, I recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good adventure.

Wraith Hand

An extremely great read, action aplenty, great storyline and really evil villains, a tortured hero, who is more human than he thinks. Characters you really want to win. The Machinists a scourge, to be wiped from our Universe. Fab

Excellent spy adventure in space. Bad guys, good guys, ancient weapons of mass destruction. As long as you pick up the series knowing it's not "high art" you're good. The only really egregious mistake he's made in any of the books is "Capacitator." Made me cringe. If it was on purpose it backfired.

Please note before you start this title it is the second book of a series; the characters, scenes, etc. won’t make much sense to you if you haven’t read book one.

While this is set in the future and involves other planets, this is more of a thriller than a science fiction novel. The future technology is believable, but as I said it is more of a thriller with good action scenes and dialogue that helps build the characters vs. dialogue for word count. It’s a fairly short read, and if you enjoyed book one of the series I’m sure you will enjoy this one, also.

Ugly fight for survival.

March is carrying a demonic cargo and his enemies will stop at nothing to destroy him and his ship. Free men vs evil hive mind. Similar to 50's literature.
