'Londinium: A Biography: Roman London from its Origins to the Fifth Century' provides a good summary on the recent excavations in London. So much building work is going on, there are so many new finds. All other books on Roman London are outdated due to these new discoveries. The book is very archaeological, something I wanted. If you want a book on Roman life in a provincial Roman town, this is not the right book. There are very few odd points. The interpretation of some finds as remains of ritual activities is arguable and follows a recent trend in archaeology to see almost everything as ritual. In 20 years, this will be seen differently.
