My heart skipped when i thought about Anna. She was easily the most valuable thing in the house that anyone would want to take. She was the only valuable thing in the house we could not replace. My heart pounded, she should be safe there but I pressed my foot down the gas. We needed to get home, now.
A great read providing different viewpoints of the guys and some other anonymous characters.
There are also few details and scenes that are I think not mentioned in book 1 so in a way it gives more background and content.
It's amusing how the emotional defenses of the guys seem to open up to Anna real quick. Even more to peel off their layers one by one. I admit I'm surprised that they are different, good different, than what and how they seemed to be through book 1 i.e. Anna's pov haha
I have grown fond of James and his lowkey protective side. Aside from not expressing himself well, he has the tendency to hide his mushy side beneath the asshole persona because he is shouldering the security details of the pack. And probably wants a firm hand on the members, considering they're a handful bunch.
Another thing that surprised me is how the twins are supposedly to cause Anna to run away from the pack due to their unfortunate history with females. I think Anna won them over the time they realized she's going to be with them in their shenanigans. She's definitely a fresh air compared to their unfortunate history with females.
Caleb seemed like he has an air of mystery in book 1 so I have presumed he has the same unfortunate childhood as the rest. To my surprise, yet again, he's probably the only one with the decent one. I realized the reclusive thing going on is due to the nature of his role in the pack? More likely, tbh.
Cody as a ladies man, though? It was funny, too, to see him get flustered with Anna the first time he met her. Austin, too. As the pack master of an unconventional pack, it's nice to see how he gets relaxed and all whenever hanging out with Anna. I think he badly needs that. Seems like a pattern with these guys and Anna.
One of the things I love best in a reverse harem settings is how the dynamics among the men works. And this one is such a great example of that. Each of the guys plays a distinct role and when a conflict arises, they all work well together. Simply gorgeous to read istg.
