My story begins in St. Louis with my best friend and former college roommate, Mera. I'm twenty-three, not the romantic type, and convinced that I can mistreat my body however I see fit. I'm not worried about the consequences of sleeping around, only my therapist is. I see her twice a week as requested by my father. He believes my lack of motivation, foul mouth, and immaturity all stem from my mother's neglect. But Dr. Rosen? She thinks I'm a sex addict ... and maybe she’s right. A long-term relationship with any man is not on the agenda.
That is, until I meet him.
Cove Everton holds secrets that are infinitely darker than mine. The demons he carries are destroying him, and his connection to my family is tragic. He tries to distance himself, but our attraction to one another is too powerful. Once his private life is exposed, there's no turning back. We fall fast and hard, both virgins to love and troubled by the unknowns of a future together.
Can we erase the scars of one another's past and move forward?
Or will we be consumed by our former lives?
You'll spend time in shallow water getting to know me before you advance into the deep end with Cove. And it is deep, be patient. The unexpected is coming. ~ Sophia

*This is a dark new adult romance that may contain triggers for sensitive readers. Due to mature subject matter, it is recommended for readers 17+ only.
NOTE: Cove's a passive character who's dominated by Sophia's father. The trilogy contains frequent sex scenes, abuse, and sensitive subject matter involving teens.
Not a dark book, but slightly grey because Sophia's dad is a creep. A creepy-creep. The main characters grew up in abusive situations. Sophia had a tough childhood and Cove was forced into sexual situations as a young teen.
When Cove was introduced, I thought this was another one of those dom/submissive stories, but he's definitely not a dom. He's confused as to who he is and what he should do about 'a situation.' He knows he needs to fight, but is also falling quickly in love with Sophia, who should be off limits.
And Sophia's father, there's a winner. He puts on a good show at first, but I wasn't fooled by his charm. There's an abrupt change in him that is a great twist.
I've been reading a lot of just OK books lately, but nothing has gotten me excited like this one. From start to finish, it had me on the edge of my seat and wanting more.Cove and Sophia are two broken people that spent their lives trying to please others and being used and abused by people who should have protected them.
Sophia is addicted to sex. She doesn't apologize for it. She craves it. She takes it whenever she feels like it. She uses guys as much as they use her and she could care less about commitment or emotions. Her sexual obsession lands her under the care of a shrink her father set her up with. Her weekly sessions and assignments seem to be going nowhere. As much as Sophia tries to straighten out, the more temptation is thrown in front of her. She never felt loved by her mother, who constantly told her how much she hated her and up until a few years ago, her father was no where to be found. She has never had a close relationship with anyone other than her best friend, Mera.
When Sophia finally meets Cove, she decides to use his and one of her assignments from her Shrink to see if she can hold a conversation with someone without having sex and soon things change. He isn't the usual guy she picks up. For one, Sophia's flirtatious charms don't work on him. Secondly, he's not all about sex and thirdly, he actually makes her rethink her sexual choices. Cove teaches her how to find pleasure in a relationship minus the sex. The only problem is, Cove's secret past and Sophia's father's are closely intertwined and Sophia learns that her whole life has been a lie. Her father has kept some pretty damaging secrets from her and threatens her and Cove's relationship. Just when Sophia and Cove finally find the love and acceptance they've been looking for, everything is snatched from under them.
At one point or another, I questioned every characters intentions. I wasn't sure who was good and who was being deceptive. The secrets and deviant social circles kept me going. There are so many directions this story could take in the next book. I laughed my ass off during some of Sophia's antics- especially during her flashbacks of her free balling brother, posing nude with tampon strings and her counseling session with ass smoothies! I also loved how Cove's mother became Sohia's surrogate mother and gave her the unconditional love she's always needed. I loved Cove and hated Cove for some of the things he did, and I just wanted Sophia to finally get the happiness she deserved. This was an awesome book and great start to this trilogy.
Captivating from the first page to the last, the first book in this dark romance had be completely addicted. Aven Jayce has written characters that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. I love this author's ability to weave an incredible plot with deep-seeded themes. Overall, I highly recommend this one and can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Loved this book and will give it 4 1/2 stars. Interesting story and some twists and turns which I didn't expect. Such surprises which made it very enjoyable read though some uncomfortable subject matters which made it difficult. Looking forward to next book.
wow ~ What a brilliant psychological read. Loved every second of this first book, a slow start but you need that to understand the whole picture of everyone's life and what has made them into the people they are now.
Sophia is a fantastic character who has dealt with a crappy childhood and has sex like most people have meals, she is lost lonely and seeking warmth and true love. The only person she has ever loved is her best friend Mera, Mera is a strong woman who seems to have gone above and beyond true friendship.
Cove he is something special, a lost little boy who has been used and abused, his mother Leondra is the sweetest along with her husband.
Paul, Sophia's father is an evil, evil man who takes what he wants when he wants.
Straight onto book 2 to see what happens next in the tangled mess of lies and to see what NOVA is all about.
I loved this first novel in this series...but in a completely different way than others. This isn’t what you’d expect when you start reading. It turns in a whole new direction part way through and becomes very different from the beginning. Jayce’s style of writing is descriptive in parts but somehow all seems to be integral to the story. It has a big curveball. Okay, more than one. It has quite a few actually… really unexpected ones. But the vivid and colorful world she created was what I loved most, more so than the steamy scenes. The description of snow crunching under Sophia’s feet when she walks on the sidewalk under the city lights was eloquent. The loft spaces were spectacular - especially Leondra’s artistic home. I felt like I was standing in each room with the characters.
I'm not sure what it was about this book that drew me in but before I knew it I was at the end.
It's based around Sophia who is a sex addict. She is seeing a shrink and is supposed to be building non sexual relationships. Then she meets Cove, her dreamy neighbor. She wants to get closer and find out more about him...and that's when the story takes off and Sophia finding out just where all that money comes from that's given to her from dear old Dad. But who should she believe, a father who abandoned her family when she was young or her new handsome neighbor....?
There's sex, lies and betrayal. I can't put a finger on why I enjoyed this so much. Maybe it's because the leading lady isn't some quiet virgin or the fact I haven't read a story quite like it.
Anyway, on to book 2 since this did end in a cliffy.
Where to begin....This story is pretty twisted. It's a pretty dark but interestingly good story.
Paul Jamison may be the biggest ASS I have ever read about. And in this story everyone is an ass at one time or another.
Cove is a pretty great guy but I wish he was stronger. I totally get why he is the way he is. Damaged pretty bad but will do anything for his mom, his dad and eventually Sophia.
Sophia is a piece of work. She is brash and far to often jumps or speaks before thinking.
Cove's mom & dad, they seem like great people but how could you stand by all that? If it was my child, Paul would have never stood a chance, no matter how dangerous he was...
This was my first for this author and i really enjoyed it. i wasnt sure at first reading the description if i would like but Wow! i do sometime hate reading in 1st person because i want to get in the other main character's head. i was sucked in from the start because Sophia had some serious issues with her one night stands. The meeting with Cove who really sweet. i love them together. they are what the other needs. I'm so glad all the books are out and i can just start the next one because this one ended with a Bang!!
Takes a lot of turns. Not sure who is trustworthy. A lot of "talking in circle". This book raised so many question and answered none of them. I'm assuming nothing is what it seems and u can't wait to find out what happens next! Characters are all like able and redeeming in their place and contribution to the story!
Read this based on a free post from group. Thank you! I'm in love with Sophia and Cove. hot hot hot. Aven Jayce is my kind of writer. ...and there are 2 more published with another in the works. Sooths my soul.
This for me was good, but a little long winded. Nothing really seemed to happen. The bad stuff was kinda glossed over with sex and the characters were a bit wet. That being said, I enjoyed the storyline and I'm intrigued to find out what happens.
Sophia Jameson is a young woman who has been abused by her mother for many years while her father was absent from her life and uses sex to feel wanted and loved. Now that her father is present in her life, he recommends that she go to a shrink to talk about her childhood problems and why she acts the way she does. While her father moves her to one of his buildings and that’s where she meets her neighbor, Cove Everton. She immediately feels physically attracted to him, but Cove wants to take things slowly and it is not until Paul Jameson intervienes that Cove decides to have sex with her, what she doesn’t know is that he will upload it to a porn website. Paul Jameson tries by all means to separate Sophia from Cove but she can’t stay away since it is the first time she has true feelings for a man. The plot is interesting only that the character of Sophia seems loose at the moment. Her lover records her without her consent, uploads it to a porn website and she defends it in front of her father.WTF!!!
I read this in its original form before the July release. I would read it again with out that though. This book starts off light and little by little gets darker. This book may not be for all readers. Take heed to the warnings. We have Sofia, she's a sex addict, trying to get her life together. She doesn't have a close family. Her mother (using that term loosely) hates her for reasons unknown. Her brother is basically absent in her adult life, and her father... I would run for the hills. Next we have Cove, he's supposed to be keeping an eye on Sofia for he'd father, only from afar. He finds her sleeping in the hall of their building and helps her. It's an instant connection. Sofia, learns there is so much more to her father's business then she could of ever imagined. She finds just a little of the tortured soul still fighting inside Cove. I love these characters, all of them are intertwined to make it one small, dark, tortured world, where things aren't always as they appear. Off to book two. I would recommend this book.
This is the first book in The NOVA Trilogy series and I must say that I am a fan! I love romance books, especially when they are mixed with erotica. I read a lot of romance books, but I feel as though this book has really nailed down the characters. Sophia and Cove have a lot of emotional baggage, they are real human beings. Sophia has issues with her parents, while Cove has some deep emotional problems with the industry that he is in. I love to read romance novels that actually have a plot. This one does and the sex scenes are amazingly hot! This book will stick with me for a long time. I have grown tired of reading basic romance novels and this is one that stands out from the crowd! Can't wait to read more from this amazing author!
Good! Fallen Snow was suspenseful. Cove and Sophia know immediately that they like one another. Considering everything’s that happened in their past and now the present, they are two lonely souls searching to be loved.
The reader gets to know Sophia, her personality and habits, before Cove comes in. I think that’s important to the story. It’s a thousand page trilogy and Cove enters at about 8%. Not on page one like in some of these books. I enjoy it that way.
