Pain and pleasure collide when a sophisticated underworld boss crosses paths with a naive photographer hell-bent on bringing him down!
This deluxe edition includes never-before-released material as well as a double-sided color insert and special cover treatment! Photographer Akihito Takaba takes on a risky assignment trying to document the illegal activities of the Japanese underworld. When he captures its leader—the handsome, enigmatic Ryuichi Asami—in the crosshairs of his viewfinder, Takaba’s world is changed forever.
Akihito is freeloading at Asami’s apartment, polishing up not only his photography skills but also his skills as a househusband. His career is on the upswing, even though he still finds himself in perilous situations and has the occasional run-in with police. So imagine Akihito’s surprise when, while out chasing a scoop, he spots Asami with another man clinging to him…in tears! Are Akihito’s days as Asami’s live-in numbered?

This volume begins the second major arc of the series and I am already in love with both the plot and the pacing. The first multi-volume arc, which began in volume one and finished in volume five, was certainly entertaining, but we were just thrown into it without really getting to know the main characters and it took me a while to really get past all the shocking stuff happening and truly care about the outcome (I was just witnessing one wtf moment after another, being pulled along not really caring about what ends up happening, just wanting to get there so I could finally breathe! lol). So many things were happening that it could have easily been extended to an extra volume or two. Akihito was in Hong Kong for weeks and we were only shown a teeny tiny fraction of all the things he had to endure while in captivity.
This arc starts out a little slower, a connection with the main characters has already been established, and we are given a lot more of Akihito’s inner thoughts and feelings. He finds himself, once again, mixed up in Asami’s confusing world of intrigue, jealousy, and deception, not fully understanding what is going on or who he can trust. It doesn’t help that everyone sees him as Asami’s “latest pet” and is treating him with as little respect as you’d expect from a bunch of criminals involved in trading sex for money, among other things. This is my favorite volume from the series so far, easily 5 stars. I can’t believe how much I’ve come to enjoy this. If you ever start it, don’t let volume one deter you. It was the weakest volume in my opinion. Give it time, don’t take it too seriously, and you’ll be rewarded with a great story.
ehmmm. well the whole volume was about Takaba trying (finally) to figure out what Asami really did for a living and figure out as well if he was just Asami's toy or something else; adding that he manage to got himself kidnapped again and some pretty hot scenes ( as always) this one was good and now I'm updated with this manga.. well kind of.XD and just like that! now I have a few mmonths to wait until the next ch appears... grr! now I remember why I stopped reading mangas 4 a while.
Another awesome volume, although the fling with the sleazy manager detracted a little from the story. However: Takaba's alternate reality (dream world) where he's in charge of Asami, Fei Long and Mikhail Arbatov - yet STILL can't manage to control them properly - more than made up for this IMHO.
And while we're on the subject of dreams; I just love these snippets we get of Fei Long's inner life.
(Let's hope Mikhail NEVER gets to join in, lol. I'm shipping this threesome, and he's got no place in it, poor, pining fool.)
This series is super sexy. And addictive, I can't stop reading the whole series all day, and I think I will read it again. And re-read it again, as many time as I could!
Akihito has moved in with Asami, but is still insecure about what he means to the powerful underworld boss. His doubts intensify when, while on a stakeout, he sees a man crying and clinging to Asami’s arm. Asami must have had other lovers before him, but does he still? And then there’s the mysterious Kuroda, who calls Asami by his first name. Where exactly does Akihito fit in?
V7 marks the start of a new multi-volume arc: Pray the Abyss. Akihito takes a picture that causes a domino effect starting with a missing hostess, a shipment of stolen goods and a political scandal. The crying man turns out to be Sudo, the manager of one of Asami’s clubs, who has screwed up royally when a side deal he was making goes south after Akihito’s photos are published. Akihito feels responsible for the missing girl and begins searching for her. He will cross paths with Sudo, who is both jealous and repulsed by Akihito’s relationship with Asami. He throws fuel on the fire of Akihito’s doubts, until Asami discovers why he’s been so upset.
The new storyline is very promising, with shady new characters introduced, a mysterious shipment and Akihito once again in the middle of a mess he doesn’t understand. Akihito must make a hard choice on whether to distance himself or fall deeper into Asami’s dark world. This volume was thrilling, with lots of hot sex between Asami and Akihito. I cannot wait for more.
Akihito can be such a brat sometimes. Like he's so back and forth with like liking Asami and wanting to keep his head down and just accept things as they are, but then he's all like I'm going to just stay away and figure things out. He never sticks to one thing. It just makes him seem very childish. And Asami just feels like this presence that isn't directly involved in a way that I can't properly explain. Maybe it's because we hardly know much about him? Idk. I wish they could have some sort of heart to heart relationship building thing at some point.
I really hate the Sakazaki and Sudo characters.I can already tell they are going to be big thorns in Asami and Akihito’s side.
As for the main couple, they are starting to fall into a kind of domestic routine, bar for the occasional hiccups and problems that arise because of their jobs.
Very interesting volume, can’t wait to see what’s going on with that Kuroda character as well.
When I thought this was a 4 star, Akihito just had to go too far. I honestly don’t know what it is but I can’t seem to stop reading this series even tho I only had a 4 star so far. I’m clinging to Asami on this for sure
Well well well Akihito! Look who is stepping up to play and actually acknowledging that Asami plays in the shadows and is damn good at it. Akihito on the other hand ... goes blop like a new born giraffe!!
Things are heating up. In the first arc Akihito was trying to get away from Asami's world. In this one he is trying to understand what it is that Asami does. He is trying to balance his work and his private life, but he is failing spectacularly. Asami is everywhere.
