If you read only one book from the Underground Knowledge series, make sure it’s this one. It’s the best of the series so far by a long shot.
In the first chapter, you’ll find this quote: “(Banks use) your money to invest then (give) you a fraction of what they make in interest. Sometimes that interest can actually end up being nothing due to the "fees" they actually charge that are excessive and fraudulent in most cases.” That would seem like a fair and objective analysis of describing the banking system, which we all know – if we stop to think about it – is set up to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.
So, that’s what we all know already, and yet that’s just the tip of one mother-effin’ iceberg of deceit. So why don’t we change it? After all, it is OUR money. Oh, but economics is such a vast subject which most laymen won’t fully grasp, so how could we ever change a system that seems to be so inbred in our society and which we’re sold as serving us? Well, this book manages to identify major concerns, relying heavily on quotes and sources, to show just how the banking system has duped us all. This isn’t about conspiracies or anarchism or anything like that, because in this book you’ll find simple, easily digestible, objective FACTS. And the upshot is: we’re being screwed. This book tells you how.
So, that’s one reason why this book is the best of the series so far – because money is at the root of all problems. Solve that and you solve a hell of a lot of the world’s major issues (crime, funding for terrorists, hunger etc.) If everyone who cared about social justice put ‘reorganizing the economy’ at the top of their agendas, surely everything else would follow. Ending poverty should be our number one priority.
This is also the best of the series because it doesn’t just outline the problems, it also highlights some very viable and simple solutions. As much as I like to rant about toppling power structures and the like, I don’t believe there’s any particular point in doing so unless some sort of plan is put in place first. Occupy and other movements know what they want but they don’t really know how to get it. Making a fairer society means changing the system not eliminating it. It just needs to be ‘a system’ rather than ‘The System’, if you see what I mean.
Amongst the solutions put forward in International Banksters, I particularly like the example of the little-known story of Dauphin in Manitoba in the 1970s. The town received a basic welfare income for five years and practically eradicated poverty. Such things are possible.
INTERNATIONAL BANKSTER$: The Global Banking Elite Exposed and the Case for Restructuring Capitalism (The Underground Knowledge Series, #5) By James Morcan & Lance Morcan
A very insightful account of the banking industry across the globe. Very delicate and controversial topics are approached. Some of the information I found appealing, yet this entire topic is fascinating.
I do agree with the final statement of the Authors; "Governments around the world continue to bail out privately-owned banking institutions ahead of rescuing the millions of citizens facing bankruptcy and eviction from their homes". I feel this is something that can be prevented if people were more aware of what is truly going on around the world. A must read.
Father-and-son Lance & James Morcan expose and outline the main problems behind the current crisis in global banking and finance and propose possible solutions for creating a fairer economic system.
The authors´ reveal fraudulent practises; despicable acts committed by some of the worlds privately owned banks that are alarming and arms readers with important underground knowledge about the global élite, the major players and their associates who stop at nothing to line their own pockets and put prophit ahead of the public. Not only do the authors’ expose a large number of corruptions, they also offer a number of practical solutions to the problems. Their ideas include Islamic banking, as it is considered to be a more honest and fairer alternative to conventional banking, restructuring capitalism and how crypto-currency will influence the economy in the near future.
INTERNATIONAL BANKSTER$ is a thoroughly researched and documented exposé on the financial shenanigans of the worlds hidden system of finance that should be required reading for anyone who is remotely interested in the tangled web of money, power and the current issues that surround and continue to dominate global banking.
Another excellent expose by Morcan and Morcan. The first part of this book deals with the many problems and fraudulent practices of the World's privately owned Banks. The author's then go on to suggest ways that the banking system could be made fairer for all of us. Recommended reading.
The Morcan father and son team have written an erudite account about a matter close to my heart that will deprive our children and their children of a secure future. It’s a good thing they are in our court as they document the flagrantly corrupt practices the large banking institutions have enjoyed over the past few decades with, seemingly, governments’ approval. What else can we think as they bail them out with our taxpayer’s monies, then turn a blind eye when the Bankster$ award themselves huge bonuses for bringing the financial system to its knees, rather than prosecuting them for failing in their fiscal duty. They rightly point out that the system has been set up to rape and pillage the world’s financial system unchecked. When one unholy practice is uncovered, they collude to come up with yet another equally unsavory idea to line their own pockets at the expense of the general public. The tail is wagging the dog as scandal after scandal erupts, with major banking institutions gaming the Libor (setting the price of money) and Foreign Exchange Rates, indulging in money laundering and selling fraudulent insurance policies to unsuspecting clients, then having the gall to charge them fees for restitution. As long as they continue to receive a slap on the wrist or ordered to pay fines that sound monumental but in reality are a fraction of their ill gained profits, nothing will change. It is a travesty of monumental proportions and I sometimes I feel as though I am living on another planet; or wish I was. The public has demonstrated their anger with Occupy Wall Street and protest marches, but it appears the global elite are too powerful as they ‘covertly manipulate the financial markets behind the scenes' and governments remain powerless to stop them. How can this be? The Morcan’s restructuring suggestions for capitalism are interesting, but I doubt the Global elite will employ them unless they can use them for their own benefit.
