This book is broken down into 3 sections; The Invitation, The Integrity Process and The Integrity Plan. Each section is then further broken down into smaller chapters. From the very beginning of the book, during the introduction, I already enjoyed and agreed with what the author was saying. In the introduction, the author talks about how we have a trust crisis going on in our world today; we don't trust our co-workers, our politicians, our neighbors, etc. She relates these trust issues to the fact that many people do not trust themselves and without that trust, it is impossible to trust anyone else. In the first chapter, the author also gives the dictionary definitions of integrity; the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and the state of being whole and undivided. In my own opinion, one of the biggest problems in our world today is that people lack integrity, specifically the lack of strong moral principles. These two statements from the author immediately grabbed my attention when beginning this book.

This book will certainly make the reader think about how you view the world, the choices your make and the way you are living your life. The author includes stories and suggestions to guide the reader in approaching their live differently and making changes. I think this is a book that almost everyone could benefit reading and it addressed a lot of issues that I think most people can relate to.

Thank you to the publisher for sending me a review copy of this book.

---- Disclosure: I received this book for free from Goodreads. ----

While I wouldn't give most self-help type of books a second glance, I can't say this one was so bad. I'm not the audience for it, but if my 20 yr.-old self had been able to read this I think it'd have been a help to that person. I quite preferred most of the language in here to what normally is served up in this realm of material. It'd be a fair fit for anyone realistic about pushing out of old molds and stepping forward into a new future, presuming that they are willing to take responsibility for the work it takes to do so. It still had some of the faults that these types of things tend to have, like that it's not applicable to everyone (none of these things really are) b/c some circumstances just aren't resolvable by methods such as these. If you are not particularly seeking out something like this then you will probably find it fairly mundane and a bit boring; the kind of thing you'd have to push yourself to get through to the end. That just means that you are not the target audience though, and you probably don't need most of what is in here.

Overall, however, there were good tidbits here and there I think could benefit anyone that was honest enough w/ themselves upon sifting through the presented ideas. That said, I'll put this in the local little free library so it might find a more suitable reader. If I thought the book was crap and the typical bologna written by someone trying to sell books to people that are searching, so to speak, I'd have chunked it and taken it out of any potential circulation. I think the author was honest in her efforts here, and that others could indeed benefit, thus I will send it forth to the local reading public. That's a positive review in my world.

Kelley Kosow is the CEO and Program Leader of the Ford Institute, a personal and professional training company. She is an integrative life coach, and her book, The Integrity Advantage is the compilation of her understandings of leadership and integrity.

"Every time you bite your tongue," she says, "you swallow your integrity."

Before Kelley Kosow was a renowned life coach and CEO, she constantly second-guessed herself, let her "to-do" lists and others steer her dreams and passions, and played it "small and safe." Inspired by the groundbreaking principles of her renowned mentor Debbie Ford, who hand-picked Kosow to be her successor, The Integrity Advantage is Kosow’s step-by-step guide for facing the fear, shame, and false beliefs that cause us to lose our way.

Through life-changing insights, true stories, and proven strategies, this book shows how to live on your own terms—according to you—from the inside out.
The book discusses how to:

Connect with your inner truth and keep it growing stronger day by day
Level up your self-love and self-trust to get where you want to go
Embrace the totality of who you are
Turn the tide on mediocrity
Break free of the "gravitational pull" of your past
Get fearless and excited about moving outside of your comfort zone
Stop living from your “to-do” list and start living from your “bucket” list
Become the person you want to be

One of the things I liked the most is how Kosow weaves her own story into her lessons on integrity. It makes her appear very human, and sometimes very vulnerable. I find that people often learn best with story, and that proves true with this book. She talks about how often we live with the story of our past, but we must step into the reality of our present. In story after story, she shows her readers how to live with integrity.

A friend told me recently how she pushed down her grief after the death of her husband for almost ten years. Just recently, however, she realized that she had not faced her life as a single person but kept living in the story of her past. She said that she was just now stepping into the reality of her present. And she was finding that she was learning to like herself and her life as it is now. She had chosen to live with integrity.

The Integrity Advantage resonated with me. I know it will with you as well.

I wanted to be blown away by the content of this book, but unfortunately, I was left underwhelmed. I felt as though I'd read all the material somewhere else before, and soon Kosow's message became gratingly repetitive. The gist of it is: "Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." She uses the word "integrity" the way others use "authenticity"; as a way to define making choices that are in alignment with who you really are and what you truly want.

I understand that this is a difficult concept for many people who have been hiding their own needs and wants for years, decades, or even an entire lifetime. But the way Kosow presents the solution seems incredibly simplistic. A few journal exercises, a couple of worksheets, and presto! You'll go from depressed, despondent, and uncomfortable in your own skin to a thriving example of "living in your integrity!"

The examples she gives are also aggravating, because her solutions, once again, seem incredibly simplistic. After speaking to someone who's been struggling for decades, a few sessions with her has the person changing their entire life for the better! Quit that job, divorce the awful spouse, stand up to your family! Kosow makes it sound like none of the people who struggle were ever aware of their issues in the first place, and that just hasn't been my experience. Many are quite self-aware and still remain stuck, and for those people, Kosow's advice will not make the slightest bit of difference because it's incredibly vague and only begins to skim the surface of what true change would look like.

Integrity. We think we know what it implies, and how we are supposed to employ it in our everyday lives. But the author Kelley Kosow, in her new book, The Integrity Advantage, takes the reader on a journey through a new understanding, and expanded definition, of what this word actually means. She challenges us as to how it should be used in our everyday lives.

This book gives examples on her to step out of the box and manifest changes that will release you from certain bonds that hold you back from achieving real happiness in your life. I do recommend this book to all.
