This is actually a really cute story. The problem for me was I hadn’t read the first book and it is imperative that you do if you want to really enjoy and understand the book and its characters. I loved Rayna and Hale but I joined them after the romance had already solidified and was on solid ground. There are lots of references that sound really fun from the first book but I was a bit lost without that background.

SO…. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly for those who like light, fun romance, IF they are willing to start at the beginning of the series and not jump in (like I did) at book two.

After finishing Calamity Rayne Gets A Life, I couldn’t wait for this next book. The first in the series had me snorting, sighing, and steaming up so much, I had to see how Rayne and Hale’s story played out. Lydia Michaels did not disappoint me. I think this book had even more calamity moments than the last.
I can’t stress enough that you must read the first in the series before you move to this book. You will simply be lost if you don’t. And you won’t get any sense of appreciation for how much Rayne has grown at this point. The first book left us with a doozy of a cliffhanger. Rayne and Hale were just beginning to explore their relationship when everything fell apart. Rayne’s best friend, Elle, who had always been her greatest confidant and supporter, was horribly injured in a car accident and was in a coma. Rayne, who had always depended on the guidance of her friend, returns to Oregon to be by Elle’s side. Her friend was broken and there would be no returning to Florida as long as Elle needed her. Rayne missed Hale, Elara, and the Davenports tremendously and she knew she wasn’t done with them yet, but Elle took precedence now. She only hoped that her relationship with Hale could survive the time and distance, because this was one problem she couldn’t run away from.
I fell even more in love with the characters in this book, if that’s possible. They both faced so much in this book. At times, I wanted to shake them but they managed to find their way in the end without my help. I was proud of Rayne’s growth in this book especially. As much as she wanted to be back in Florida, she knew she wouldn’t leave Elle behind. I loved her loyalty to her friend who had always been there for her. I cheered when she honed her Davenport skills to take charge of the situation. Once she did return home, it wasn’t like it had been before. She was dealing with Elle’s slow but steady recovery. Hale had Elara to take care of, Rayne didn’t know what she wanted to do next with her life. All her life, she’d let others direct what she should do. First Elle, then Remington, then Hale. She wanted to call the shots now. But could she deal with the consequences of the choices she made?
Hale was even dreamier in the second book. He was so supportive of Rayne while she was caring for Elle. He was her anchor. I loved his above and beyond effort to help Rayne. Rayne was Hale’s escape from the pressures of life but after her return, pressures from Elara’s mother escalated. Hale wanted to be the one to save the day but it was more than he could handle. It was hard for him to accept help with the situation, especially when that help came from someone who had broken his trust before.
I think I love this series so much because I can identify with it. At this age, I am an expert in love, heartbreak, disagreements, doubts, and embarrassment. Even while chuckling at the calamities, there’s something thoughtful, provocative, and honest in this story. The family dynamics and how they influence our choices and reactions were very real. This story was sexy and funny but there was also a rawness and authenticity to it showing the path to love is never smooth. I hope there’s more in the series. I would love to see more of Rayne and Hale and find out how their life is progressing, and I’m dying to know more about Elle and Barrett!

We continue with Rayne and Hale's story in Calamity Rayne II and these two freaking crack me up. I was on a helium high with this book because I just couldn't stop laughing.

Lydia Michaels did such an amazing job with this series that I have to say it's been one of my top rom coms this year. And Rayne was just a walking disaster in this series!

In Calamity Rayne II: Back Again Rayne feels like she's been put on the spot. She has to fly back home to attend to her best friend who had a very bad accident and doesn't know how long she'll be there. She thinks that her being away from Hale is like a test of time because we all know that long distance relationship never work in the end and with her not knowing how long she'll be away, she's afraid that he'll get over her really quick and because he's rich and handsome, he doesn't have an issue when it comes to the ladies department.

But Hale is so in love with Rayne that he flies to Oregon to be close to her and see what they can do to help her friend in the process.

When her friend seems to have woken up and seems to have slight amnesia, Hale suggests that she come back with them to Florida. In the process, Rayne and Hale have issues that they need to resolve and Rayne asking Mr. Davenport, Sr. for advice and help Hale with his dilemma, Hale gets pretty upset with Rayne and this is where Rayne doesn't know if she fits in or not with this family. She's a very insecure girl and any little thing that goes wrong, she right away takes it the wrong way.

But the only way you can resolve issues is by talking them out right!

Rayne and Hale are one crazy couple that will have you laughing your pants off and their sex is just off the charts HOT!

I absolutely adored this series and now I would love to hear about the other Davenport and Rayne's friend. I think that's another series that will have me laughing my butt off!!

Well done Lydia Michaels!!

5 AMAZING STARS!

Rayne is growing up. She has to return home to care for Elle who was in a car accident. As she goes to the hospital daily she wonders how she can maintain her relationship with Hale. Hale comes to Oregon to see her and find out what he can do to help. They continue their relationship while working on solutions to Elle's rehab. When they all return to Florida, including Elle, there is more garbage coming.

I like that Rayne does not take Hale for granted. She also has to work through jealousy. Hale has a lot of pride which comes through when Rayne turns to Remington for a solution. It leads to a big fight. On the side Elle starts seeing Barrett which causes Rayne to be like a mother hen. Her mothering skills are working overtime with Hale's daughter and the big fight does not help. But they learn to communicate and work out their problems. Rayne has a good heart and does what she thinks is best for Hale. How can you not love her!

I think it’s so disappointing when the first book in a series ends on such a promising note, only for the sequel to suck so much in comparison. The things I liked about the first book- her job and her struggles navigating that, her building relationship with Hale, the sudden introduction of the baby- were totally skewed in this one. Her job as a PA navigating the world of the uber rich is gone. Her relationship with Hale is a far cry from the building in the first novel, and the baby is almost an afterthought for the readers and the characters, with all the nannies and the ability to conveniently mention her when needed before (literally!) passing her off to someone else when she doesn’t fit the vibe anymore. The entire plot with Elle was annoying and also didn’t really add much in way of character development. It’s just a shame, because I really did like the premise of this story.

After reading Bk 1 I couldn’t wait to start on Calamity Rayne 2
I was not disappointed this one is just as good or better then tha first!
I loved seeing Rayne grow and mature. Yet still be the same funny girl with the same antics.
Rayne sets her priorities starting with Elle. Even though she missed Hale and the rest of the family.
Her loyalty was heartwarming.
Rayne has always depended on her very few close friends especially Elle so seeing her taking charge and being brave and making decisions was so wonderful.
She has a lot going on in her head especially about being away from Hale.
Yet she stays on course.
Hale is such a sweetheart. He’s trying to be everything Rayne needs and wants. Even with his own set of worries. He wants to be the fixer of all things, which is impossible.
Great book,outstanding duet!
The characters are wonderful. They are not only well developed,as readers like to see to get to know the characters but they also grow and mature.
The story is filled with laughter, love and good friends. But like real life there’s also serious situations and just life happening.
They characters and story are likable and relatable because it’s down to earth and believable.
The writing is pure perfection!
Just an overall beautiful book(s)

After hearing of her Elle’s accident, Rayne heads back to Oregon, leaving her love, Hale, in Florida. Rather than leaning on Elle, Rayne must now make decisions and grow up. She misses Hale, but can’t commit that she’ll ever be back in Florida for him, so Hale, packs up his daughter Elara, and heads west!
After the first book in this series,(and you MUST read it before you move on to this one, these books in my opinion are NOT standalones), being hilarious in some instances, Calamity Rayne II is a bit more subdued. When you begin with someone almost dying, that tends to bleed the hilarity out of the start of this book.
I enjoyed seeing Rayne begin to grow up. She’s still pretty crazy at times and there are some laugh out loud moments, as well as some ‘Don’t you get it he LOVES you’ moments. Her love for Elara is evident, but sometimes her demons make her feel unworthy for Hale’s love. Moving back to Florida with Hale, Elara, and bringing Elle to recuperate, takes Rayne right back to the problems that make her question Hale’s love for her.
Will Hale and Rayne make it? Will Elle make a full recovery? Will Hale’s brother settle down? What the heck about Hale’s father and his new wife? WE NEED A BOOK THREE to answer all of these questions!

I wish I could give this book and series more than 5 stars!

I love, love, love Calamity Rayne 2 is back again! This book starts off where Calamity Rayne: Gets a Life (left off from the cliffhanger).

Rayne is a little kooky, a little neurotic, definitely clumsy, a little naïve and a commitment phobe. I found Rayne to be very refreshing. And, all of these things makes Hale love her.

This is a LOL kind of book. There are so many scenes that I am sure there are too many to tell you them all. A few memorable scenes. The Waxing incident is one! I also love the names of the chapters (I can honestly say that this is the first book that I am pointing out the chapter titles.)

As I said earlier that I love this book. I will be recommending this series to everyone that I can.

I am making my wish known now! I would like a spinoff and a book about Elle and Barrett please! I haven't read enough about these Davenport's!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. But, I have already preordered this book. That is how much I love this book!

Gah...why did it have to end? I felt like I just started it, and then next thing I know, it's over. Can I go back now and read it again? I kinda want to. lol

I am so glad I waited to read both of these books together. But now that they are done, I want more. So much more. I fell in love with Rayne. She is crazy funny, and just plan crazy. I love that she isn't perfect.

I love Hale and his perfectness and how they balance each other out. He needs her crazy to wake up his life and she needs his control and perfection to give her life meaning and control.

The dynamics of this crazy family blew my mind. Like wow...just wow! I finally kinda like Remington.

I hope I get to see more of Elle and Barrette. I think that would be one awesome story. :)

Rayne is back at it.

When Elle is in a coma from a car accident, Rayne drops everything and rushes to her best friends side. Leaving every part of her life behind in Florida, Rayne doesn't know how much longer she and Hale can make the long distance relationship work. When her doubts are at their worst, she gets the pick me up she needs. Fast forward to getting back to life in Florida, she does it in true calamity Rayne style. The dips and winding roads are laced with jealousy, self doubt and a good measure of growing up. I truly enjoyed the chaos that was this story and I'm kind of hoping there will be something in the works for Elle and Barrett, I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters just yet.

Calamity picks right back up where we left off. As a reader, it still shocked me how she was really able to grow my up, accept what Hale is doing for the Davenports and even take care of baby Elara. This was a sweet read that shows two souls who are bound through family needs and balances them out. Rayne is still full of funnies and those are enjoyed throughout the book.
Lydia does a good job with details of the characters, as usual. Even though we haven’t met the infamous Jasmine, she gives us a very descriptive view of her as a prissy gold digger. I just wish there were visual with the “Rayne dance” to Bob Segar. 😂
Well done!

What a fantastic finish to Rayne and Hale’s story!!!!

In this book, while we’ve still got the Calamity Rayne we love, we see her and Hale face challenges that begin to wear on their relationship. There were a few times I almost thought they wouldn’t make it, but they never gave up on each other (I must say there was one part I would’ve given anything to throat punch Hale, but Rayne handled him like a champ) The secondary characters added so much to this book, whether it was laughs, drama, or healing for Rayne. I am hoping we get a book or two on a coupling we’ve seen grow in this book.

The perfect ending to Rayne and Hale’s story, that I would definitely recommend!!

Wow, I hate to see this end. I'm going to miss Remington. I think if he could say something to me right now it would be, "what did you expect, this isn't a daytime series". lol I said it in book, one I fell in love with the relationship he had with Rayne. I knew that old geezer had a heart. Of course I loved the romance between Hale and Rayne, but I just favored Remington.

This book was humorous as the first but things did get quite serious at times. It's a great story of friendship, love, and even in the most dysfunctional families, the desire to love and protect is there.

I enjoyed this one but there were moments where Rayne's insecurities grated on my nerves. I wish she trusted more in what she and Hale had rather than letting other's opinions affect her. She had this issue in the first book but somehow it was more pronounced in this one which irritated me to no end. However I loved that she came out of her comfort zone and tried to protect those she loved.

Should’ve left it after first book this sequel was really poor. A very weak storyline between endless pages of the same over the top sex scenes. Found myself skim reading this trying to find some part worth reading. Didn’t like any of the characters, all very irritating and pathetic. The dialogue between the characters was so cringy, definitely toe curling read. Needless to say I won’t be bothering with the next sequels

This book picks up after a doozy of a cliff hanger, so it was nice to not have to wait to read this.

The second one brings the same charms and laughs as the first but you also really see Raynes struggles with self doubt and all her growth. She has come a long way since the first book and it is nice to see. This was a great follow up!

"Calamity Rayne Back Again"
Book 2
by Lydia Michaels

She was on the first flight out of Florida to Oregon still in shock.
She was finally getting the hang of adulting and finding out that the sex was absolutely something to be raving about when she received the phone call.

She still couldn't understand how this could have happened. Elle, her best friend, her rock, the woman who loved her despite her crazy was in a coma. The drunk driver was in jail, but that didn't soothe Rayne since she was looking at the horrifying aftermath.

Elle was hooked up to way too many scary machines battered and bruised with half her skull showing thick stitches instead of her gorgeous hair. As hard as it was Rayne took her first step into the hospital room. It was time to adult... she wasn't leaving until Elle was out of her coma.

As much as she wanted to be in Florida with Hale she couldn't leave. Would their relationship survive the distance?

***🖤***

I'm obsessed with these books!

This series is intended to be read in order and are not standalone novels.

The first book was absolutely hilarious. Rayne is a 30 year young woman trying to figure out who she is. Her personality is hilarious. In the first book, she finally makes a decision that will probably affect the rest of her life. She gets a job working for a wealthy family. And fall in love with Hale.

In this 2nd book, her friend Elle has been in an accident, and Rayne rushes to be with her. Leaving behind Hale and her work with Remington, Hale’s father..

Rayne had finally made a commitment and fell in love. Despite her being a hot mess and so out of league with the handsome billionaire, Hale loved her.

The thought of going back to her waitress job was like taking a step back, but she refused to leave until she knew Elle was awake and well.

This book is action-packed and full of emotion. Rayne is an emotional trainwreck and wonders everything. There are twists and turns, and Remington, being Remington drops a bomb that puts even more stress on Rayne and Hale's relationship.

Book 3 there I go...

Oregon, Floryda, Maine.

I loved book 1 and this book is equally as good. This one has a lot of humor but there are more serious notes that will tug at your heartstrings. You will laugh, tear up and be throughly entertained while reading this story.

Rayne is in a panic, trying to take care of her injured friend, keep her relationship with Hale going strong and dealing with daily life. She is stretching herself to thin, questioning EVERYTHING, and causing herself a lot of stress. However, she does find her backbone and speaks up for what she believes is right…does t back down from anyone.

Hale is a sweet and patient man. Although he makes some questionable decisions..he admits his mistakes and does his best to prove his love to Rayne.

Remington is a jerk…but loves Rayne and Hale in his own way.

I really enjoyed this book and went through many emotions. Looking forward to book 3!

This was a cute follow up to the first book. I appreciated that it was shorter. I think the writing was a bit better and much less cheesy.

Rayne flies home to see Elle as she recovers in the hospital. After quite a while, Elle wakes up and has amnesia. She can’t live by herself, so she comes back home with Rayne, Hale and Elara. She develops a slow relationship with Barrett that we learn about secondhand through Rayne. Rayne and Hale are still dealing with bitter baby mama Jasmine. Most of the book is about Rayne’s feelings about that situation, Hale hiring a nanny and her grappling with whether or not she wants to be married and considered a mother to Elara.

By the end of this book, Remington marries Jasmine to keep her away from Hale and Elara, and Hale proposes to Rayne after a fight.
