The Face in the Window was an enjoyable read with a premise based on the classic noir film Key Largo.
As a hurricane bears down on the Florida Keys, Beth Henson is preparing to wait out the storm with her husband Keith. But after Keith leaves to assist an elderly neighbor who didn't evacuate, Beth is home alone when a stranger arrives in the midst of the storm. Despite her reservations about the man's story, Beth offers him shelter not realizing the danger she's bringing into her home.
The Face in the Window follows the couple from another one of Heather Graham's books, The Island. I haven't read that book so I was unfamiliar with the characters but with this being such a short story, you don't really need to know the background about the characters. Beth's character is where I struggled with this story as she just seemed incredibly naive and a bit of common sense would have done her a world of good. Keith's character I did like and I enjoyed how he handled the situation the group found themselves in.
The premise of The Face in the Window was inspired by the 1948 film Key Largo starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. I've seen Key Largo several times and enjoyed it so I was looking forward to seeing how the author worked in elements from the film into the story. As this story is so short, it really was just the basics taken from the film but I enjoyed the little nods to it. The shortness of this story does hinder it a bit as there isn't really enough time for the plot to really get going before the story is over.
Overall The Face in the Window was a good story that could have benefitted from being a bit longer to flesh out the story more.

Two great storied in one book. I highly recommend all her books to everyone who love her writing. She knows how to tell a scary story or a good love story. Diana Romano
This is the shortest story ever. Right when the excitement comes the bookish over. It took my time reading a good story. Sorry folks it didn't even deservea 1 star but I felt guilty not putting a star.
