"Kerstmis van Poirot" en "De vier klokken" zijn de twee interessantse verhalen uit de bundel en het zijn dan ook twee volledige boeken. In alle vijf verhalen komt Poirot voor.
In "Kerstmis van Poirot" nodigt een oude heer zijn familieleden uit voor Kerstmis. De sfeer is allesbehalve gezellig. De oude man provoceert zijn familieleden en wordt uiteindelijk vermoord teruggevonden in zijn kamer. Maar de kamerdeur is vanbinnen uit gesloten en de moordenaar kon de kamer niet verlaten hebben zonder door iemand gezien te worden.
Een typische Agatha Christie verhaal waarbij je tot op het laatste ogenblik blijft raden wie de moordenaar zou kunnen zijn en uiteindelijk voor een verrassing komt te staan op het einde!
"De vier klokken" is een ingewikkeld verhaal waarin een typiste uitgenodigd wordt om bij een blinde dame te komen typen aan huis. Echter, wanneer ze aankomt, vindt ze een lijk van een man in de living.
Het verhaal is ingewikkeld, startende met de architectuur die beschreven wordt in het begin van het boek, gaande tot de personages en hun achtergronden en onderlinge relaties. Maar toch een heel leuk boek waarbij je blijft de pagina's omslaan om te weten te komen wat er precies gebeurd is!
