This book was written to be read by an eleven year old who has never had any sort of English class. If I were a quitter, I would have DNF'd this at roughly 15%.

It wasn't the best book, but it also wasn't terrible. It was super cliche and needed some serious editing and spell check, but I didn't hate it. The end was a little blah, but all in all not terrible. Really quick read.

This was pretty good. It kept me interested enough to read until the end. I just had problems with some of the characters. For example, the mother .. come on, your son is a genius and is accepted to Stanford at like 13 and you don't encourage him to go for it?! Why would you hold him back! That was really my main problem, that and the main character ditches her best friend once she has a best friend?! No good.

I can't seem to catch a break with this trope. I just want to read a really good fake relationship story, but alas they elude me. I think I'm giving up on the fake relationship trope, unless anyone out there has some good recommendations?

I think this might have been the worst one because the story and characters were trying to be something they're not. This girl, Elle, was supposedly raised by strong minded feminist women, but they never acted like that in the story. Somehow it turned into this, can't live or have fun without the guy story. There's this one part that annoyed me because Elle is disagreeing with her mother's decision to have children and raise them by herself. Elle later says that she wished she could have a father to talk to about boys. Yes, cause that's very realistic for a girl to go to her father instead of her mother for boy advise. I'm not saying it can't happen, people have different relationships with their parents, but that also can't be the reason why you want a father figure in your life. I don't think I'm explaining myself very well, but the writing in this book was a mess, so I don't feel bad about not being able to write out my feelings over this book.

Horrible read, 1 star.

This was a fun book. The characters were well developed and like-able. The relationship Elle has with her brother is spot on. She really loves him but hates him all at the same time. Wanting to protect him she asks the school bad boy, Nate, to help her out and be a bodyguard. The relationship that build is sweet and funny. No big plot twists, just a basic story.

Scale of 1-10, 1 being Low/Poor and 10 being High/Amazing
Plot: 6
Character Development: 7
Swearing: 2, A few minor swears
Sex: none
Age recommendations: 14+

Clean romance, BUT!

It was a great story. It was set in high school where we meet Elle and Jimmy, her much younger brother who is a savant. He gets his little butt kicked in school pretty much on the first day and a guy in Jimmy's class steps up to help him. He makes a deal with Elle to keep watch on him, but he wants to date her.

By the time I got to the last chapter, I realized that it was clean. I got mad that that happened, but I'm still thinking about that one. It was still a great story.

hometown hero

Like others have said, this book needs some serious editing. The author seems to have thrown in periods and commas anywhere and everywhere and there are some pretty horrendous grammatical and spelling errors.
However, this is a sweet, clean teen romance with a good plot and storyline, worth reading on a kindle Unlimited.

Most of the reviews I’ve seen for this book label it as “cute” and I guess that could be said, but just barely. The story and main character, Elle, came across as highly immature and there didn’t seem to be much depth to either. However, I feel like Nate really helped me finish the book and saved it from being a total flop.

Such a fun read. Cute and witty with great characters. I love Nate's character especially. My kids heard me laughing out loud several times and kept asking what was happening in the story to make me laugh. So good!

Amazing!

These characters are amazing. I love love love all of the side characters like uncle jake and Jeanna. Even the physical descriptions of the characters like Nate’s icy blue gray eyes. The whole book is just swoon worthy. Theres even a fight scene.

Did I just read a PG book with zero sex? No smut, at all? No wonder I wasn't feeling it. Honestly, wasn't into the writing style... or any of the characters... or the story.

Elle is such a cunt though. She was so misandristic. Toxic, toxic, toxic.

Audiobook Review -
A quick listen about two sibling teens who are being bullied at school and enlist a kid to be a protector. Story ends with a HEA or because they are so young, you could say a HFN🤫
It's not a unique story but well written and a good teen romance/drama.

Synopsis sounded very interesting, but I realized I’m no longer interested in these kinds of YA about teenagers growing up.

Cute story

Okay the storyline was good but the editing was terrible... not sure what was happening there. Someone needs to go back through and correct some big mistakes.

2.5 - that was not my cup of tea. The writing itself was okay and the storyline at first was good. I liked the concept, but it just wasn’t executed well. It was too insta-love for me. But also, the main girl didn’t do anything. She had no hobbies or anything she really cared about other than her family and Nate. When she got with Nate, he was the other thing in her universe. She didn’t even want to hang out with her best friend, that’s how dependent she was on this guy. I get that she’s a teenager, but that’s not healthy and not something that I want to read. She got so depressed when he broke up with her that she said she didn’t want to live anymore. Now I’m sure it was just teenager drama, but again, nothing that I want to read. Kinda reminded me of Twilight in that sense. I thought Nate had a good head on his shoulders but he wasn’t enough to carry the book. I pretty much skimmed the last half of the book. The one redeemable part of the book was Nate’s interactions with Jimmy. He needed a male figure in his life and Nate was a good role model for him. So that’s why I gave it 2.5 stars. But it wasn’t enough to make me want to read more in this series.
