Castle Court #2

Frosty Mornings at Castle Court

Rate this book
Part two in the new series from bestselling author Holly Hepburn, perfect for anyone who loves Katie Fforde, Jill Mansell and Lucy Diamond.Sadie is a single mum, nursing a broken heart. Cat is burned out from working long hours as a chef. They decide to invest in their dream – running their own handmade biscuit shop in gorgeous Castle Court, a three-storey food court tucked away behind Chester's bustling streets.   They soon discover that Castle Court has its own community – a little haven of delight against the stresses of the outside world. But not everyone welcomes the new business; the patisserie owner is less than pleased by what she sees as direct competition and Greg, who runs the fancy bistro that dominates one end of the courtyard, doesn't think Sadie and Cat have the talent or business acumen to succeed. Luckily, there's support in the form of the delectable Jaren, who owns the Dutch waffle house opposite Smart Cookies, and Swiss chocolate-shop owner, Elin. And if all else fails, the friends can drown their sorrows in the cocktail bar that overlooks the court. I’ve wanted to write books for adults for as long as I can remember but I was too scared to try. One day I decided to be brave and dipped a toe into the bubble bath of romantic comedy with my first novella, Cupidity, and I’ve never looked back. I often try to be funny to be funny, except for when faced with traffic wardens and border control staff. My favourite thing is making people smile.

I’ve tried many jobs over the years, from barmaid to market researcher and I even had a brief flirtation with modelling. These days I am mostly found writing.

I live near London with my grey tabby cat, Portia. We both have an unhealthy obsession with Marmite.

Not long enough!

Yet again another brilliant story only trouble was it wasn't long enough. Love how Cat and Sadie are doing so well with their business and can't wait for part three in March.

well its all go at Castle Court once again, don't think that because this is the second in the series, things are going to slow down-because they're not! This is one of the things I love about the way Holly Hepburn writes her serialised novels, every single instalment has as much action in as a full blow novel and each instalment in the series gets more and more action packed.

In terms of characters in this instalment, we don't get to see as much of everyone as we did in Snowy Nights at Castle court but that's because we were getting to know the characters last time. In this instalment, the characters are established and so we get to know a little more about how they tick. Cat and Sadie are both thrown into difficult and uncomfortable situations and they have to deal with these much more on their own than as a duo and I liked this because I got to know them more individually rather than as a biscuit making team.

There is also some travel outside of Castle Court this time around, which I quite enjoyed. It was also interesting to learn a little more about the history behind Cat and Sadie's friendship and I hope we will get to know a little more about their previous lives in future instalments. I'm also hoping that the next in the series, following on from valentines day, will continue the theme of love and romance because I love finding out all the juicy gossip about relationships in the court!

This is the second book in the Castle Court series and I loved it. I couldn't put it down till I finished it.

It continues with the two main characters from book 1, Cat and Sadie who have always wanted to run their own business, eventually starting a biscuit business in Chester, where they quickly become part of the tight knit community with the exception of one person who goes out of his way to discredit Cat, a once top Paris chef. Meanwhile Sadie has her own turmoil as her x husband wants to make a go of their marriage again.

I can't wait to catch up with these characters in book 3, unfortunately, I need to wait a couple of weeks for it to be released.

A delightful and light novella

After reading the first novella in the Castle Court series, I was truly hooked! The stories are delightful, as a group of entrepreneurs share their growing pains. Castle Court is a three-story collection of small food shops, cafes and bars, and the creative lives of the denizens intertwine romantically as well as in the shared passion of good food and friendships bloom through a year, each season bringing its own stories. If you enjoy stories about making good food, you will enjoy following this series and regret reaching the end. The stories are as satisfying as a good meal.

Book 2 of a 4 part book series. Note to readers, you can either read this as a 4 part book series or there is a full length novel which includes all of the 4 parts.

This story is getting good, lots of drama, chemistry, malicious activity, coming together as a community & plenty more. Characters are great although I don’t agree with the decision that Sadie has made when it comes to a certain man in her life but hopefully she’ll come to her senses as the series progresses.

Right without further ado, I’m heading into part 3 of the series.

Another good one!

Castle Court must be a wonderful shopping mall with a fantastic range of shops. And all that food! Not very good for the waistline though.

Preferred the 2nd instalment in this series as you start to get to know the characters a lot better. Love is definitely in the air in this book - will Sadie give in to Daniel trying to win her back......
