At nineteen Morgan has already faced more loss than she can handle and has more experience living on the street than she wants. Unable to do anything other than keep on the move in order to hide from the demons that hunt her, she guards her heart and emotions carefully. But when the demons start talking to her and calling her by a name from another life, things spiral beyond her control.
Lucian, an ancient dark angel who has seen his fair share of lives, is happy being a free agent until he’s assigned to Morgan. Determined to do everything on her own, she’s unlike any channel he’s ever met.
As the danger mounts and a demon prepares to open a gateway to the underworld, Morgan must find a way to overcome her past in order stop him. Offered what her heart desperately wants, and holding a key that will close the gate but open another, Morgan struggles find the strength to make the right choice.
*Though this is book two of the series, it can be read as a stand alone*

USA Today bestselling author A.D. Trosper often describes herself as a coffee-loving squirrel brain. Her superpower is forgetting where she put her phone while it’s in her hand. She loves to write of myth, magic, and soulmates. Of fantastical adventures and epic stories full of love, found families, and friendships that can weather storms. When she isn’t typing away on her keyboard, she spends time with her family, where she lives in central Kansas. You can find out more at
The heroine of this story, Morgan, could be called an old soul because she has seen and lost far too much for someone only 19 years old. She is a channel, a human capable of recognizing and banishing demons. Each channel is paired with a dark angel to protect them, but Morgan's last protector died saving her life. Now she is unwilling to risk anyone else in the dangerous life she must lead, her power a beacon for demons. So she takes to the streets as a homeless teen. There is more to her story than just that; however, I don't like spoilers in reviews. ;)
Lucien is the new dark angel assigned to her, but Morgan is very good at hiding and it takes all his patience and cunning to keep up with the disappearing teen and her canine companion. He finds in himself an unusual attraction for this stubborn girl and she comes to mean far more to him than what duty requires. The question is can he convince her to take his help?
I love Trosper's imaginative fantasy worlds, each one different from the last. In this series, dark angels pair up with human channels to keep demons from spreading to our plane. There are many elements of various legends and myths interwoven and Trosper does a wonderful job of using them in new juxtapositions to each other to create a world both recognizable and yet foreign. I eagerly await the third book in this series.
First off, A.D. Trosper has created a wonderful idea in her Bound series. It is a world filled with angels, demons, and channels (people with powers to banish and find demons).
Bound in Legend is an action-packed adventure that is great for lovers of paranormal romance and/or young adult novels such as the House of Night series.
Morgan is a very strong female lead. She has had such a rough past and struggles with allowing others in. Lucian is so sweet and kind, and he allows Morgan the freedom and space she craves.
Although I did love the whole use of Cherokee legend, I do wish we would have learnt more about Lucian's past and Joan of Arc being a channel. This is the second book of the series, but it can be read by itself. I feel like I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read Bound by Time first though! I will be reading more of this series, and I would recommend it!

“Bound by Legend” by A.D. Trosper is a very interesting story about demons and angels. This tale, based on urban legend and Cherokee mythology, was a fresh approach to the topic. Up until Trosper’s book, I’d only read about traditional fallen angels, Nephilim, and the humans who fell in love with them.
I loved the main character, Morgan. She was a Native American channel, or medium, with demons after her. Morgan was in her second lifetime and was homeless. The girl was unbelievably strong. Her life wasn’t easy, but she didn’t buckle under the pressure. She was a bit of a badass with a marshmallow core. She’d had her fill of bad times and couldn’t deal, mentally or emotionally, with another tragic moment. Or so she thought.
Lucian, a dark angel with the body of Thor, a beautiful soul, and massive heart. How could you not love that man? Patience, strength, and looks rolled into one person… angel. Swoon.
I loved how Trosper worked in diversity. The basis for the story was mythological, but not traditional. The protagonist was Cherokee. She even provided secondary characters who were Native American and African American.
The best part of this book was how Trosper included a message about the homeless. She reminded people that when a homeless vet dies without family, there’s no one attending their funeral. They’re fortunate if there’s someone who’ll contact a local agency so that the body can receive a proper burial. She also made commentary on how the homeless, in general, are virtually invisible in society. A good reminder to be more mindful of those you see on the streets.
Although this was book two in a series, it totally read as a standalone. I would love to read more about the dark angel Lucian and his soulmate/channel Morgan.
I enjoyed the plot pace - it was the second in a series, but the first I'd read so I appreciated that it took a few chapters to get to know the main characters, their lives, routines and personal issues.
The characters were strong and had a good legend so their actions never seemed abrupt. Though the dialogue was basic and didn't evoke strong feelings either way. There were a few surprises in the plot (which I won't spoil) but mostly it paced along in a predictable manner - the main climax of the story was exactly what you would expect based on the setup from the beginning chapters. The world-building is lax, I know nothing of Denver and had a hard time getting my bearings. I also would have appreciated more Native American plot points given that the main antagonist is an upper level demon tied to Native American lore.
All in all, while I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to friends that enjoy paranormal series, I don't think I'll be reading anymore of this particular series, though I may try another book by this author.
I received this book at the Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal group for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. Since I did receive an advanced copy I do hope that there is more editing in it's future. There were some awkward turns of phrase and a few locations where the sentences were in the wrong order or auto-correct picked the wrong word for a typo.
This is definitely a series I will get into. The author has an incredible writing style. Her plot for this book keeps you at the edge of your seat and it is difficult to put the book down. There is lots of action and the pace of the book is just plain perfect! The great thing is even though this is a series just reading this one, which is the case with me, I never felt like I was left out in some inside story.
Morgan is a lovable character that really got a rough start in life, yet she stays true to herself and looks out for the ones she loves. She is a strong heroine and makes for a great character. Lucien of course only adds complete adorableness to the story! He is her perfect match and sometimes I wish people like him exist. The characters are developing beautifully throughout. There were a few times I was emotionally moved, which I find not all authors are able to elicit that response.
Loved this book and will definitely look out for the next one in this series.
I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
This book was AMAZING... I really loved the story and the characters, their humor and the love between all of them is just beautiful. I didn't think I would love this book because of the beginning but I certainly haven't expected to be this good. The author is very talented, and I really hope that there would be another book in this series. I only didn't like the ending, it was good don't get me wrong, but it could be much better. I would recommend it to all my friends.

I received this book at the Goodreads Lovers of Paranormal group for free in exchange for a fair and honest review . The story was great so were the characters. The vocabulary was a little to simple and some time i didn t get the feelings the author was trying to make me fill but in the end I really enjoy my first journy with this new author and can t wait to read more about it.
OMG! This books was absolutely amazing! After finishing Bound by Time I couldn’t have imagined I would enjoy Bound by Legend as much as I enjoyed it, but I was Wrong! I enjoyed Bound by Legend even more. It took all the amazingness we read in book 1 and multiplied it exponentially. So now I have to ask, Why? Oh why are there only two of these amazing books?! I would absolutely pay good money to read another 1 or 2 or maybe 10 in this series!
So, Morgan isn’t your average 19 year old girl. Her parents were killed when she was only 13 and her and her sister Tara were separated by the foster care system in Colorado. But the life of a foster child isn’t always easy and Morgan found herself being passed from one foster situation to another. Her life continues to downward spiral when she is taken in by foster parents that begin to physically and emotionally abuse her and after one thing leads to another she ends up a lost soul living on the streets of Denver. Her only true friends being that of Lucy (the stray Rottweiler she finds abandoned in the park) and Jake (a drunk, homeless, vet of the Afghan war with the absolutely most beautiful soul). But being homeless isn’t the worst of her problems. She is also a channel, a channel that is being stocked by every demon this side of Denver. But why? Why are they seeking her out? And can she survive long enough to find out.
There are soooo many amazing aspects to this novel! I really cannot put into words how much I enjoyed it.
First let’s talk about characters. There are so many amazing characters in this series! Trosper definitely knows how to write completely developed and absolutely realized characters. I could absolutely see Morgan as a real person living on the streets. So…How do you only pick 1 favorite character?! Nope, I’m going to pick 2…yep…I’m doing it. My 2 favorite characters were Jake and Lucian. I loved how protective and loyal Jake was to Morgan. He didn’t have much to give, but what he did have he shared with all his heart. He taught Morgan how to fight and take care of herself and how to live on the streets without ending up dead. He was an absolutely beautiful soul and I loved everything about him. Lucian was the dark angel that was assigned to Morgan after her other dark angel was killed fighting demons. Lucian was funny and sweet and exactly the person Morgan needed to help her feel loved and taken care of.
Another brilliant aspect to this novel was how Trosper portrayed the homeless souls and their lives on the streets. It was so heartbreakingly realistic and well written. You could tell that she put a lot of time, energy, research and feelings into making sure she wrote Morgan’s experiences so they were completely authentic and completely plausible. This was another one of those details that Trosper wrote into her novel that raisers it up to top tier story telling.
And then their is the Romance! And man does Trosper know how to write Romance. The relationship that developed between Morgan and Lucian was completely perfect. He allowed her to be who she was, even if it was completely broken pieces held haphazardly together, and loved her entirely for it. Not at one single point did he ever try to change her or make her feel like she was wrong. I absolutely enjoyed their fated but fought against Romance.
Again I have to point out that I would absolutely love at least 1 more book in this series. There were events in this novel and characters introduced that I would love to learn more about.
They say that lightening doesn't strike in the same place twice, well I beg to differ because this book is PHENOMENAL. Now I adored book one but I have to say that after reading this one, I love it just a wee bit more. Where as Bound By Time had that creepy ominous feeling to it which kept me on edge throughout the story, this one tugged at my heartstrings and gave me all the feels. So Kudos to the author for invoking two completely different reactions from me in the same series.
Outwardly tough, emotionally fragile 19 year old Morgan knows all about loss. After her last dark angel was killed trying to protect her, she keeps on the move to hide from the demons that hunt her. Determined not to get close to anyone, not even the new dark angel assigned to her, Morgan has erected tough walls around her heart and mind. But when a powerful demon targets her for her past life bloodline to free him, Morgan might have to trust someone other than herself.
First off I have to say I was overjoyed to see Isobel and Damien back as secondary characters in this story as it was a nice connect to the first book.
Not only did I adore Morgan, I admired her. Anyone who has lived through what she had and then to survive on the streets is one tough cookie in my book. But it's the vulnerability underneath that makes her so relatable, and the fact that she's holding herself together by a thread while trying to be tough actually broke my heart. I desperately wanted her to place her trust in Lucien so she could be loved how she deserves to be loved.
And then there's Jake her street friend. A lovely sweet man broken by PTSD who takes her under his wing and helps her survive on the streets, sharing what little he has even though it's not much. I really just wanted to hug him every time he appeared on the page.
And lastly there's Lucien the powerful and protective dark angel who is out of his depth dealing with the conflicted Morgan, especially when she pushes him away. But it was the little things he did that made me love him, like respecting the boundaries she set, or buying food and a doggy dish for her companion Lucy, or even getting her a tiny my little pony just to make her smile. Yeah you bet my heart melted at that one.
These and a hundred things more is what made this book so special for me and I know I'll be reading this over and over again simply because I loved it. I just wish there were more books in the series as I'm not ready to leave this world behind. I can't recommend this highly enough so if you haven't read it yet dive in 😊
Morgan is such a conflicted young person and yet an old soul. As someone who can feel and vanquish demons, she has special skills that she doesn't always want or feel comfortable with. As a person who has been living on the streets of Denver, she has faced her share of the demons. She has seen the losing side of the fight that she barely survived, lost her first dark angle too, and now doesn't want to put anyone else she loves in danger. Good thing those that love her don't listen to her. As the demons that she encounter begin to speak to her, which is unheard of, and surround her in more numbers than she has ever seen, she is forced to rely on them in ways that she never thought herself capable. Time will tell if her new dark angel will be able to survive this world with her and if she can survive at all.
This was great....the author really sucks you into the world created! Not sure if there is a next book in store, but would love if there were. I love that you can read this as a stand alone! Definitely recommend this book!
For me, this was a totally gripping and immersive tale. I connected with the characters, and was glad to see Damien and Isobel return. I also loved the addition of Lucy, she was amazing.
This story was about a channel named Morgan and her dark angel Lucien, who we met in the first book in the series. I won't rehash the story, that's the purpose of the info about the book. Just know, both books in this series are well with reading. The world you are transported too is captivating, and for me, fast paced. There is plenty of action, and we travel the path that Morgan is taking, revealing her past and her survival. Lucien is.... Well Lucien, wouldn't we all like a Lucien or Damien.
Overall, I am so enthralled with this series, I am eagerly waiting for the third book. I hope there is one, the ending tells me there will be. For anyone who likes dark angel books, this series s s must read.
