Pride and Prejudice Variation

Saved from Scandal: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

Rate this book
Saved from scandal...but ruined by love?

Elizabeth Bennet is shocked when the unthinkable happens at the Netherfield ball. And no, she is not referring to proud, pompous Mr. Darcy asking her to dance--though that was a surprise, as was his fine dancing ability.

But when Elizabeth takes a moment to cool herself on the verandah outside, Mr. Wickham shocks her by crashing the party--and then attacking Elizabeth!

He's madly intent to ruin her in front of her friends, family, and most especially Mr. Darcy. But when Darcy is the first to discover Elizabeth and Wickham in what appears to be a compromising position, the master of Pemberley shocks her and saves her--by claiming Elizabeth has promised to marry him !

Lizzy can't be content with a forced marriage, even one that saves her and all the Bennets from scandal. But as she slowly grows to know Mr. Darcy, she realizes she's in danger of losing her heart...

To a haunted man who can never love her back.

Gentle readers, please note that my past books have featured our dear couple in quite intimate scenes. This particular Pride and Prejudice variation focuses on the slowly blooming love and emotional connection between Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennet. (Alright, and a few fiery confrontations!) But the newlyweds do share some heated, sensual moments, as well. Get ready for a deliciously scandalous adventure!

A thrilling and steamy book.

This story made my heart pound from the first page. That scoundrel Wickham, I would like to shake him until his brain rattled...
Mr Darcy came to the rescue as a knight in shining armour and ODC was forced to marry. Darcy does not mind too much although he is aware that it is lust and not love who was the driving force as he was a firm believer that love didn't exist. Elizabeth on the other hand, was not as happy about the outcome and a firm believer that love did exist. Oh my! It made a deliciously emotional read though...

Heartily recommend this book, 4,5*.

This was an enjoyable book. However, its a bit of a cross between a MA book and a book with some plot/angst or action. It begins with Wickham attempting to compromise Lizzy. She is saved by Mr. Darcy and really doesn't understand why. This Darcy is very methodical and doesn't believe in love, which is a big part of the plot of this book. Caroline briefly shows up but it's mostly a Darcy and Elizabeth story. Just when you think all of the action is over Wickham shows up again causing mischief. I enjoyed reading about Darcy and Elizabeth in this context. Darcy is a very complex troubled character. Elizabeth is more straightforward but still outspoken, honest and desiring love. They do engage in some activities that go beyond what regency would allow before marriage but it's only one occurrence (at least described) in this short novel. (There are plenty described after they are married if you are concerned about that.)

If you enjoy MA content and some brief plot with action this is your tale. There is not a ton of angst but some does come up as we watch Darcy and Elizabeth come to understand each other and their relationship. I did enjoy this book, it's just not more enjoyable than others. The plot is creative and takes an angle that I haven't read before and for that I enjoyed it immensely. I just thought that is was a bit short to merit more stars and some issues were not as developed as they could have been.

I did notice that at the end the author thanked the reader for reading (title of another book) which i think was a typo. Other than a few minor grammatical issues its a fast read and well written.

So good and also pretty damn steamy

I’ll admit, I love some sexual chemistry between D&E. A wild Darcy in the sheets to juxtapose the perfectly controlled and proper Darcy on the streets is just my cup of tea. In fact, the more juxtaposition the better! This was an excellent example of how that should be done, while respecting Elizabeth’s initial innocence and both of their emotions.

While not terribly long, every loose end is tied neatly by the end of this novel AND nothing feels rushed or forced, even if the marriage is not initially by choice but Darcy’s protective impulse. I also really loved Georgiana in the few scenes she appears in, and was impressed by how well developed she was in so few words. Well planned out, well executed and well played, dear author :)

NC-17 rating for this one! If you are too delicate for a lusty Darcy and Elizabeth, it is not for you. Graphic marital relations and some premarital exploration highlight this quick read. Wacky Wickham importunes Elizabeth at the Netherfield ball & Darcy comes to her rescue. I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as Darcy & Elizabeth enjoyed each other ! 3.75 stars, but not for the rather aggressive sex. I thought the climax and happy ending should have been fleshed out a little more. (Sorry)

I gave this book a 3-31/2 star rating. The writing wasn't bad with some wrong pronouns or a missing word but not anything that effected my reading experience. Darcy is written as a gentleman but displays many sides of his personality some are a surprise and some are sad. Carolyn delivers a blow to Lizzy as well as Mr. Collins.

I wish the plot was a little more gripping. It was fair but at the end wasn't anything you haven't read before with other character names. I did appreciate a stray from the original so it held some surprises but nothing that knocked my socks off. Georgiana while a little we saw her was enjoyable to see her confidence. Enjoy!

This is a sweet story with some mature content. When Wickham tries to compromise Elizabeth during Netherfield ball so that Darcy can't have her, Darcy comes to her rescue and announces their engagement. Though Elizabeth is opposed to the idea, Darcy's honesty and care makes her fall in love with him. But Darcy doesn't believe in love. How this point of contention is resolved forms the climax of the story. This is a short novel and really sweet.

Nice

Nice little novella. Very interesting to read. The book could do with some professional editing, though. I recommend for adult readers.

Saved from Scandal: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

Wicked Wickham starts off this story hoping to compromise Elizabeth Bennet to thwart Darcy's attention to the lovely lady. But Darcy comes upon them on them and overhears the last part of his threat against the fair Elizabeth just as she knees him in his groin, and as Mr. Bennet arrives, announces his engagement to Elizabeth. Wickham's despicable behavior is unfolded to Colonel Forester and he's not heard of again in and around Meryton. Rough patches invade ODC as they move towards their wedding day, but Elizabeth has fallen in love with her handsome husband-to-be. Caroline Bingley once more inserts herself into their affairs and raises doubts in Elizabeth's mind about her and Darcy's relationship and whether he loves her. In a fit of anger over her ideal of romantic love, Darcy leaves Elizabeth in the carriage two hours from Pemberley in a snow storm, and rides ahead. By the time Georgiana gets finished with him, he realizes that he does love Elizabeth and rushes back to the carriage. Wickham strikes again, but leaves three incompetent men behind that Elizabeth and Darcy easily handle with their wit and tall tales. This time Wickham's gone for good. With the question of love finally handled, ODC have a HEA.

This book was a fun, quick read. It was smutty with an easy plot. The basic premise is that Darcy marries Elizabeth to save her from a forced marriage to Wickham. The book explores the first few weeks of this marriage, focusing heavily on the couple's physical connection. It was silly and melodramatic, but I enjoyed it.

However, it was rife with grammatical errors, missing words, and minor plot contradictions. If you want a short, sensual P&P variation, it is worth a read. But, if you are looking for something memorable with a distinct flavor, this is not that book.

Wickham attacks Elizabeth at the Netherfield ball and Darcy steps up to save her honor from a compromise. So they find themselves engaged and have to deal with it. She wanted a love match and he is not sure he even believes in love. I enjoyed this a lot although I am not entirely sure why exactly. Sweet feels and entertaining dialogue I guess.

Steam level: intimate scenes including premarital lacks of proper chaperonage

Avid Reader

Darcy was definitely a changed man in this version.Although he was stoic, he was passionate and quick when it came to Elizabeth. Wickham 's attack on Elizabeth was designed to hurt Darcy, but he didn't seem to care that he would hurt Elizabeth. Fortunately, the scenes with Lady Catherine and Lydia were absent.

Love a confident Darcy that takes Charge!

I genuinely love this Authors way of depicting Mr Darcy. More often you find he is far too submissive and has little to no experience with women! The sensual parts are really well done and not too much!

In these stories he takes charge and blows Elizabeth’s mind!! I would love to see something longer from this author.

Gosh, I enjoyed this book

This is a love story, another P&P variation love story, but it was so good. If you want to spend time with Darcy and E Elizabeth without all that angst, this is your book. Also, if you like a great romp between two people finding great sex, this is truly your book.

An odd sort of book

A sex romp, a forced marriage and a stark raving mad Wickham.

If the writing was as good as Abigail Reynolds this could have been a fun book to read.

But it wasn’t.

If one is looking for a story that mixes feisty characters who are not afraid to be passionate, and if you are looking for a truly delicious Mr. Darcy who is not prim nor proper as canon professes, and if you want a lot of lust and a burgeoning love, this is the book for you!

Sweet and compelling

But there are typos and grammar mistakes scattered throughout. A simple spell check would percent those errors from distracting from the plot

Interesting

A rather short but steamy variation inspired by author Jane Austen's classic novel Pride and Prejudice by Caitlin Marie Carrington.

The beginning was pretty good but I wasn't keen on the rest of it. I don't mind "intimate" scenes but as soon as they marry and these scenes start, they take over the story. From that point on there is no plot at all and its for quite a large chunk of the story. Disappointing and quite pointless.

I just couldn't get on board. It was Pride and Prejudice meets 50 Shades of Gray. I have no issues with explicit sex and have read 50 Shades of Gray and don't even mind sex in my P&P variations, but for me this turned Darcy into a hormone raged teenager.

Well worth the read

Oh my my! The web's of lies or what you thought was true can and does come undone. Darcy and Elizabeth had issues before, but after Netherfield Ball they are engaged. How the come to truth between them is a long journey. Highly recommended you read to find out.
