It would be fair to say that this book had me in its grip within the first few pages. I should also point out that I unwisely decided to begin reading this late at night before going to bed, one chapter won't hurt right? I should not have underestimated Heidi's writing, she always manages to draw me into her emotionally charged stories. That is why I was nearly halfway through this book at 1.30am and had to force myself to put it down. However, I then lay awake for another hour just thinking about Noah and Peyton and spent the rest of my day sneak reading at work until I finished.

So yeah, I freaking loved this story!! If you have read the Beaumont series then you will already be familiar with Noah and Peyton growing up as childhood friends. If you haven't read the series yet then you are seriously missing out! However, this can be enjoyed without the back stories of their parents.

Peyton and Noah have always had this unbreakable bond between them, their parents are also best friends and they have always been there for each other. Their friendship is further cemented with a shared love of football. These two have always been a little bit in love with each other , despite the five year age gap between them. They have both dated other people but no one that would ever come between their tight bond.

'Being in love with Noah is difficult. It's like chasing a butterfly without a net. He's there, looking catchable and when I think I can get close enough, he flutters away and is out of reach.'

Peyton is in her last year of college, studying journalism, when she gets the her dream assignment that could potentially lead into the career she has always wanted. However, her dreams are shattered when her life is irrevocably changed one tragic night.

Noah is a star quarterback, playing professional football, dating a well known beautiful model, a girl that things are heading towards serious with. Until he gets a phone call that changes everything for him. Peyton, the girl he has always loved, needs him.

'....I chose Peyton. I always have and always will. We have a bond that is hard to describe.'

Noah and Peyton's relationship has caused quite a few issues over the years with the girls he has dated but this time is one too many for his current girlfriend. Whilst Noah is filled with emotional turmoil, balancing his career and supporting his best friend, you would think his girlfriend would have some empathy for him right? Wrong! OMG I despised this girl. Noah is such a sweet, loyal and loving man who deserves to be loved and happy but that chick messes with him something fierce.

I got so frustrated with Noah and wanted him to do what I was thinking in my head but he kept doing the opposite, burrowing into an even deeper hole with his indecision and sense of doing what was the right thing. Gah! I was also equally heartbroken and quite a few tears escaped me in the wee hours of the morning. This was a gut wrenching, angst filled, emotional read for me that I simply could not put down. A fantastic beginning to what is shaping up to be another fabulous series from this author!

Let me preface this by saying I've five starred every other book in the Beaumont series and was looking forward to Noah's love story. Liam was my favorite. He was so distinctive and I expected so much from his son.... but

Holy shit. That was so boring. I kept getting distracted by tv commercials and skipping several pages at a time just to see if anything ever happened. Spoiler- nothing does. On my death bed I will want back the hours wasted by reading this dull and pointless book. I had the hardest time staying focused and only finished because I need to finish what I what I start and I started skimming.

Peyton was literally in a coma for nearly 50% of the book. There was practically zero interaction between them clear up to the end and what there was was lackluster. No spark. No chemistry. No excitement. No swoon. No steam. No romance. Nothing. It wasn't even so much that I didn't believe their love, but I was so bored that I just didn't care about them at all.

Both of them but especially Peyton had no personality whatsoever. Noah was a weak beta male. He complained of being miserable and doubted the pregnancy but never had the balls or motivation to at least ask.. what? He didn't fight for or pursue his girl. He just whined and let life happen to him. Such a letdown.

This story could've/should've been so much better and just fell flat with a thud. I felt no investment in them and by 85% still honestly didn't care one way or another what happened to them and just wanted it to be over. It was THAT bad. I wanted it to be great so bad and it just wasn't at all.

She could have shown us the prom date, night and next morning. There should have been more time with them together, after she healed, maybe more football, more sexual tension, more suspense, more romance.. just anything to give some feels. It was just dead.

This review isn't to be mean or scathing. I loved her other books and wanted to love this. But honestly, it was one of the most boring and lackluster books I've ever read.

Yeah, not so much of a hit for me. I was sorely disappointed, too. The theme is a big favorite of mine. I love a quarterback -- and the best friends to lovers romance. You'll get no argument from me that this one had some heavy emotional feels. Peyton's accident and recovery took my breath away. I'll admit that I misted up throughout most of those moments.

Noah and Peyton, childhood best friends in a lifetime close-knit-family-ties way was prevalent throughout. Except it was hijacked by too many interferences. Not enough time together on the pages. I absolutely detested Noah's girlfriend, Dessie. And Noah's responses to her shenanigans (mildly put) didn't do anything to garnish my sympathies for him. At times, I was yelling what a stupid fool he was -- come on, wouldn't you do some confirmation reconnaissance? Heck, at times I was cheering for Kyle, who I really grew to like a lot.

I always enjoy family interaction that finds its path into a story, but this time around, I felt there was an over abundance and it overshadowed the main theme -- the second chance at love for the main characters.

In my opinion, there just weren't enough quality one-on-one special interactions between Noah and Peyton. Hopefully, as this new series continues, readers will get to see more of these two.

If the accident of our heroine had not happened he would still be happy with his girlfriend.
Another weak hero who is easily fooled by the other woman. He goes with the flow and agrees with the other woman even against his will. I think he's a fool.
The supernatural touch with the coma of the heroine gives a dramatic touch.
OK.

4.5 stars!

Love everything about this book. I highly recommend if you're into childhood friends turns into love but shit happens theme.. lol! I've read the book Forever My Girl and that's a long time ago.. so when all these names throwing from left to right was confusing as fuck! I was in a phase where I'm like "who are all these people?!" transition from "oh.. that's her, or wow that's him" but despite all that it didn't stop me from devouring this book!

Eventho the plot we-grew-up-together-bestfriends-fellinlove-but-afraid-to-tell-each-other-so-I'm-gonna-try-to-move-on-with-my-life kinda theme has been used many times, it still a great read for me! The writing was amazing, the story sucked me in and I like how everything started and unveil the story of Noah and Peyton. I was so emotionally invested in it that rooting for Noah and Peyton was the only option for me.

Guess the only thing that irked me was Noah.. he was frustrating in the middle of the book.. I mean.. Oh well.. I guess if it wasn't for the OW drama it wouldn't be that interesting enough. lol!

I would recommend reading the first series before starting this one, unless you don't mind getting a little confuse with who is who.

Anyways, this was a great read for me. 4.5 stars!

This was just ok.

Coming off a high from a really enjoyable wrap up book of Josie and Liam's story - this next generation story of their son Noah was disappointing. With Josie and Liam having such a great story and watching Noah grow into a man, I thought this would be pretty great.

I didn't expect that Noah would be such a dumbass. I mean male characters can do some dumbass things but Noah seems to do it over and over and with characters that we already knew, this was such a let down. I didn't feel the connection between Noah and Peyton (who we've known for 6 books now) so you would think this would be a no brainer as there's already character foundations but nope.

They kept saying that they are best friends and they love each other but they couldn't communicate throughout the whole book. Noah says right from the start that he loved Peyton but he was always so...absent. Even when she was in the hospital it felt like he would show up and be gone again right away and he made one stupid mistake after another and what I really wanted him to do was grow a pair and take what he said he really wanted which was Peyton.

Oh well...disappointing story but there are moments here and there and I always love reading about everyone else in the series and the last chapter was sweet.

3 Peyton and Noah Stars

The Next Generation of Beaumont kicks off with Peyton and Noah’s story. Noah is the son of 4225 West frontman, Liam Westbury & Josie from Forever My Girl. Peyton is five years younger than Noah and is the daughter of Katelyn & Harrison.

Peyton has loved Noah since Kindergarten. Noah has had feelings for her since childhood too but he was always mindful of their 5 yr age difference. Now Noah is a big shot in the NFL as the starting Quarterback for Portland Pioneers whilst Peyton is finding her feet in College & as a sports reporter. Noah is a cliche with his Victoria’s Secret model girlfriend who is an absolute bitch from hell. There is a good amount of OW drama in this & although I understood Noah’s dilemma , I really wanted him to step up more & earlier in the book.

Peyton is involved in a catastrophic car crash and Noah realises he may very well lose the one woman he truly loves. I wanted these two to actually be together for more of the book but they actually reconnect properly quite late on.

Great to see the original Beaumont characters.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? Not once they are together but Noah is living with OW for most of the book.

Sometimes I hate myself...

description

I read the first 40% and liked the drama, then I got super impatient and skipped to 80% and read the rest in one go. I was only supposed to skim not actually READ the rest. And then, of course, I couldn't go back to the 40% and read the in-between, cos I was already mad at the H for being a dumbass but relieved that I didn't have to actually read and experience his dumbass moves, just the aftermath of him being a dumbass. STUPID!

description

So what do you rate a book when you loved what you read, but not enough to read the in-between cos you just know the H is dumber than dirt and why put yourself through that?!

Ughhh... I'm going to have to settle for a mediocre rating, and I totally blame myself

They've known each other since they were young. Yet they never crossed that line until they did. We get to see both POV's and it helped to be able to see what each one meant to the other in their own words.

Noah and Peyton didn't know how they felt for each other because they were resolved to never cross that line so they moved on with their lives but I could see that they both were not happy. I wanted to shake them both and have them see that their perfect one is right in front of them!!!

Well there always comes a moment in life that has us questioning if I've made the right decisions and for Noah & Peyton it comes early in the book. It had them thinking if they made the right choices and if it was too late. Be prepared for this emotional ride and be ready to want to kick some a$$ as well.

I started reading this at work and regretted it because I didn't want to put it down. Make sure you get comfy and not be disturbed because it captures your right from the beginning. 4.5 Stars

Okay first, this started off okay. The accident, the emotion...it definitely kept me turning the pages.

But then the Dessie part....

I've never rolled my eyes so many times. Every character in this book just seemed so weak and gullible. Nobody calls Dessie out on her antics...they just go along with it and give in to anything she wants. In what world does a expectant father or his protective mother, especially a suspicious one, not ask for a sonogram...dr details....hell, ask her to pee on a stick! The part that killed me was:

"Her suggestion gives me a lot to think about but still, I don't know what to believe. Dessie has no reason to lie to me..."

Really? No reason?

Not one?

Noah is the kind of character that you just look at and say "Aww....bless your heart" because you cant believe how stupid they are.

I almost started to root for Dessie because she was the only one in this story who had any balls.

A surprising and truly heart-wrenching read

I love the idea of this series! Heidi McLaughlin has taken us back into the world of her Beaumont series, and is giving us the stories of the children who stole our hearts. First up is Noah (son of Liam & Josie from Forever My Girl) and Peyton (daughter of Harrison & Katelyn from My Unexpected Forever) and a friends-to-lovers romance that will rip your heart out and keep you guessing how it’s all going to unfold.

Noah and Peyton have been the best of friends since they were children. The last few years have been difficult for them as Noah is now playing in the NFL in Portland, while Peyton is in college in Chicago. Their lives have taken them in different directions, and though they don’t see each other as much as they want to, they still share an amazing bond.

But them something happens that changes everything, throwing Noah and Peyton’s worlds into turmoil. I’m not going to go into details, because you need to dive in and experience it as it all happens, and holy feels! Beautifully written with stunning emotion, you will feel everything! And it becomes the trigger that changes everything for these two as they finally come to realise the depth of their feelings for each other.

To Peyton, I’m Noah. The guy she’s known her entire life and once called her best friend. To me, she’s everything.

It’s far from an easy ride for the two of them, and it’s a rollercoaster read as we follow them through the ups and downs of figuring it all out. This book is surprising, and goes in directions that I wasn’t expecting, which I appreciated, but it was also incredibly frustrating in parts. Peyton is an amazing heroine, and I loved her strength, and Noah had his moments of romance hero awesomeness, but I just really wish he had grown some balls sooner than he did. A particular storyline got way too much page time and seemed to get way out of control when there was already so much going on in the story. It creates angst (which I personally think wasn’t needed), but it all leads somewhere, and we (eventually) get to see the love story that has been building for years.

“I love you. I’m going to love you forever.”

*dreamy sigh*

I love how involved the families were in this story. Part of the appeal of a series like this is the opportunity to catch up with much-loved characters of the past, and we a lot of time with characters from the series as we see Noah and Peyton interacting with the adults in their lives and seeing the incredible relationships that they have. It’s so beautifully done – a real highlight of the book for me.

Having said that though, you don’t need to have read the Beaumont series to enjoy this book as enough background is given to how everybody all fits together, and it will still be an enjoyable read.

I really liked this book. That beginning drew me in and I could not put it down. I would have liked less angst and more romance, but I’m happy with how it ended, and am interested to see whose story is up next.

4 stars.

The spin-off to McLaughlin's best selling Beaumont series was a bit of a disappointment. Especially the fact that the hero is Noah Westbury whose father was the hero in Forever My Girl. I expected something a little bit similar in terms of emotional journeys, heartbreak, redemption, and of course family because that is the base on which McLaughlin writes. Unfortunately this one felt extremely juvenile and stilted in terms of narrative and storyline. Using the tried-and-true element of 'you don't know what you want till its gone,' when Noah's childhood best friend Peyton is hurt in an auto accidentand almost dies he rushes to her side realizing how much he loves her. Thus begins their journey towards their hea. Noah comes off immature and easily led by the nose while for all Peyton talks about loving Noah, she acts very nonchalant. The storyline is weak with numerous plotholes and the characters stay one dimentional. Frankly, the writing in here was nothing like McLaughlin's first series (which I loved) and Im hoping this was just an anomaly.

To Peyton, I’m Noah. The guy she’s known her entire life and once called her best friend.
To me, she’s everything.

Noah Westbury and Peyton Powell-James have been friends since they were children. Their families are a close-knit group that’s always been there for one another. Somewhere along the line feelings more than friendship started to develop between Noah and Peyton but a combination of their age difference, familial obligations, and poor timing have kept them from acting on these feelings and they’ve settled for remaining best friends instead, even though they both long for more. When the unthinkable happens and any sort of future for them is put in jeopardy, it causes both of them to closely examine their feelings and perhaps finally take the leap into being more than friends. But with that comes a whole host of other complications and they may prove to be even more impossible to overcome than they ever imagined. Will Noah and Peyton finally get their timing right or will their chance at forever once again slip through their fingers?

Fan of the Beaumont series are rejoicing because the gang is back and now it’s time for the next generation to step into the spotlight! If you read the earlier books then you are very familiar with Noah, Josie and Liam’s son, and Peyton, Katelyn and Harris’ daughter. We got to see them grow up throughout those books and now that they’re all grown up we get to see if they can find their own happily ever after. Noah and Peyton fell in love long before this book ever takes place, but we got to see some nice flashbacks that showed us how it happened. Now that Noah’s got his football career in Portland and Peyton is busy with college in Chicago, they don’t get to spend much time together these days. But when something happens and Peyton needs Noah, he drops everything to be by her side. I knew this was coming after having read Forever Our Boys, but it was still so sad to see it happen firsthand. The first half of this book is quite emotional, especially if you love the Beaumont crew because they are tested like never before and it’s quite heart-wrenching. I thought this aspect of the book was so well done, my heart was totally into it and I loved how it showcased the amazing bonds between all these characters.

Then things take a turn and I found myself so mad at what was unfolding! Noah, sweet, kind, hopelessly clueless, Noah. I wanted to smack some sense into that boy more times than I could count. Hold on to your hats because thinks take a drama-filled and infuriating turn and as the pages click by and things are still not close to being resolved I started getting worried. But don’t worry, relief finally comes and I was very happy with how things turned out. I thought the ending was very sweet. My only wish was that we had gotten at least a little more time for things to go well for them in between the first and second major hurdle they faced. I think it would have made the second hurdle a little more bearable. Sorry for being vague here, but I don’t want to spoil anything! Overall, though, I loved being back with the Beaumont crew and I really liked Noah and Peyton together. I hope we get to see more of the younger Beaumont generation find their happily ever after!

“I’ve waited for a long time for you, Peyton.”
Not as long as I have, Noah.
“I’m yours now,” I tell him as I cup his face.

One of the best books I have read. I usually do a top 20 list for the year and this book will be on it...Why? It's was so beautiful. Noah Westbury is the guy every girl wants in their lives. For Peyton Powell-James, he was the best big brother ever..Then he became the guy all her friends were crushing on, including her. But the biggest change came when Peyton turned 18 and Noah saw her as a beautiful woman and suddenly the 5 year age difference didn't matter..
BUT Peyton is getting ready to go to college and Noah has a girlfriend..BUT fate as usual has a way of worming her way in and changes things. Fate makes them see each other in a different light. How will they handle it?
This book was just so beautiful. Heidi took the Beaumont kids and made them even better/ I loved it from start to finish.

Since I first read the Beaumont series four years ago, I desperately wanted Peyton and Noah’s story to be told. I can honestly say, this is hands down my favorite book of Heidi’s, and one of her best works to date. I can’t even put into words just how phenomenal this story was. Holding Onto Forever is one of my top reads this year, and I can’t wait for who’s love story we get next.

Total binge read!

When I decided to read Holding Onto Forever, by Heidi McLaughlin, I had a feeling that it was going to be good because I loved the other books in the Beaumont series. I’ve been a little leery about reading series spin-offs lately. There have been times I have read a spin-off, and it was so-so, or I felt lost (if I didn’t read the original book it was based on). I’m thrilled to report that this wasn’t the case!

Holding Onto Forever is the first book in The Beaumont Series: Next Generation #1. Over the years I read and loved all of the Beaumont books. This is the story of Noah and Peyton, children of the 4225 West bandmates and their friends. I literally binge read Holding Onto Forever. This book was beautiful, heartbreaking and all-consuming. I couldn’t put this book down if I tried. I had the chills reading the first few chapters. Dare, I say this is one of my favorite books by Heidi. IT WAS THAT AMAZING!

This friends-to-lovers romance needs to be your next one-click.

This is Noah and Peytons story. Having 5 years difference in age, growing up together there were feelings that were suppressed. Until Peytons prom and everything changed. Both afraid to admit their true feelings for each other, they continue in different paths until one fateful night when Peyton is almost killed, does Noah realize the depth of his love for her. Unfortunately Desi, Noah’s current girlfriend, stands in the way of them being together. After Noah finds out she has been lying to him, he makes it his mission to win back Peytons heart.

This story of Peytons car crash/recovery dragged on much too long and the plot point of Desi trapping Noah with a fake pregnancy was predictable.

Sorry this love story felt contrived and I just didn’t feel any chemistry between the two of them.

So i’m really really disappointed. This is my second book by this author ( i read forever my girl and absolutely loved it) so i was expecting more. I honestly hated the plot, i mean the car accident was really necessary? The crazy ex girlfriend? The writing was perfect but since the first part of the book was set in the hospital Peyton chapters were a little boring for me, and can we talk about Noah? I wanted to puch him .. i mean at one point he was like “Dessie has no reason to lie to me” bla bla bla, how naive can you be?
I was hoping they would get together before the end of the book , so we could have experienced a bit who they were as a couple ( not just in the epilogue).

I'm not a huge fan of Noah but my girl, Peyton is a huge fan. The heart wants who the heart wants.

I didn't care for Noah because of his girlfriend. I hate when guys are oblivious to the horrible people they are dating because she's beautiful. He apparently is dumb and has no cawhonas.

But the writing with Peyton struggling to survive was so good. The tight knit family is so fun to read in this series as well. Hoping Quinn and Elle both get a book!!

This story had so much potential. Peyton was ok, didn't fall in love with her and Noah was a pushover. I just wanted him to have a backbone. I could have done without reading this tbh.

I enjoyed their parents story's were good so I had high expectations for this one and was sorely disappointed. I skimmed through the last few chapters because I got a bit bored and the whole fake pregnancy plot was so unnecessary.

Words can not even come close to expressing all the feels wrapped up in this book. I have been a fan from the moment I met Liam Westbury. I went on a journey with all his band mates. And now, the author brings us a love story for the ages. The children of Liam, Harrison and Jimmy are growing up. This is where the tale continues. What happened to those adorable children?

Holding Onto Forever brings us a first look. Noah Westbury and Peyton Powell-James have been friends since Peyton was born. But it has always felt like more than friends between them even with both of them denying the truth. Tragic events bring the two together and words of love are whispered only for more tragedy to pull them apart again.

I love how the author brought this story to life. We have present events told in dual POV but we also have all the memories we wish we were privy to over the years. Through their flash backs, Peyton and Noah fill in the gaps and bring the reader up to speed on what everyone is doing in the present. The other great joy in this book is that we get to see all those familiar faces and reconnect with them again.

So much in love with the writing and the emotions in the story. I would recommend reading the Beaumont series first before jumping into this spin off. It will be much more meaningful. However, as a stand alone, I am positive you will still walk away with all the feels, the tears, the utter joy that this book brings.

I can NOT wait for more. I am sure Elle and Quinn have an HEA out there waiting for them. If you haven't read the Beaumont series, I'm not sure what you are waiting for. Oh, yeah, the first book is being made into a movie-- Forever My Girl comes out this October. Got your interest now??

Not enough Hearts for this one. Fantastic.

Really loved reading about Noah and Peyton two young people destined to be together.

This story was like a rollercoaster ride, my emotions were all over the place. I was willing them on but with outside forces conspiring against them maybe fate has other plans for them.

It was fun catching up with all the families.

Let me start by saying that Heidi did SOOOO GOOD!! This book! Guys I mean it, there just aren't words adequate enough to describe the range of emotions brought by this story! It was heartbreaking and hopeful and angsty in a way that I just couldn't stop reading. I've always loved this Beaumont Series from the first time I read Forever My Girl, so to now experience Noah and Peyton as adults? Well let me say there were a lot of tears! A LOT! And I may have yelled at the author while reading a time or 10, but it was simply perfection. I'm so totally in love with Noah Westbury as a grown man! He was everything and more that I hoped for, much like this book! HOLDING ONTO FOREVER just became my new favorite Heidi McLaughlin read to date!! Just beautiful and wonderful and amazing!
