Rita Bradshaw was born on 1949 in Northampton, England, where she was educated as a good Christian. She met Clive, her husband, at the age of 16 andnow the magic is still there. They have three lovely children, Cara, Faye, and Benjamin, and have always had a menagerie of animals in the house, which at the present is confined to two endearing and very comical dogs who would make a great double act on TV! The children, friends, and pets all keep the house buzzing and the food cupboards empty but Helen wouldn't have it any other way. She still lives today in Northampton with her family. Although having enjoyed some wonderful holidays abroad she has never been tempted to live anywhere else, although she rather likes the idea of a holiday home close to the sea one day.

Being a committed Christian and fervent animal lover she finds spare time is always at a premium, but long walks in the countryside with her husband and dogs, meals out followed by the cinema or theatre, reading, swimming, and having friends over for dinner are all fitted in somehow. She also enjoys sitting in her wonderfully therapeutic, rambling old garden in the sun with a glass of red wine, (under the guise of resting while thinking of course!)

For years, she was a secretary. She began writing in 1990 as she approached that milestone of a birthday 40! She realized her two teenage ambitions (writing a novel and learning to drive) had been lost amid babies and hectic family life, so set about resurrecting them.

Her first novel was for Mills and Boon and was accepted after one rewrite in 1992 as Helen Brooks, and she passed her driving test (the former was a joy and the latter an unmitigated nightmare!) She has written 50 novels as well as several sagas as Rita Bradshaw.

Since becoming a full-time writer she has found her occupation one of pure joy and often surprised when her characters develop a mind of their own but she loves exploring what makes people tick and finds the old adage "truth is stranger than fiction" to be absolutely true. She would love to hear from any readers care of Mills & Boon.

This is a very sweet little HP outing with a very slow burn kinda romance. It is also extremely chaste and unicorns were still being groomed by the end of it - tho their farewell to the h was definitely in sight with wedding bells ringing in the HEA.

The H and h in this one have a meet cute when Rufus, the h's aunt's dog, literally bowls the H over as everyone is walking in the park.

Then Rufus eats the H's cell phone and the h wants to repay the H for the damage. The H demands a date and the h is horrified - but she is reluctantly attracted to the Very Handsome and Very Nice H, so she agrees.

The h had terrible parents that neglected her emotionally and then she almost fell prey to a good looking, wealthy womanizer - she managed to keep grooming unicorns after she walked in the womanizer with another woman and she walked away.

This has made the h give up all thought of love and romance, she truly believes she is unlovable. The H has his own past trauma when his young wife died in an accident when he was 22 and he just hasn't been ready for a serious relationship while he was building up his HP Empire.

But this H sees something he really likes in the h, even tho she is hopelessly conflicted, he manages to get her to go out with him almost every night over several months. He meets her only family in the shape of her aunt, gets Rufus to behave and tenderly nurses the h through a migraine when her fears manage to overwhelm her.

In a really surprising move, the H tells the h he loves her by the middle of the book and the reader knows he means it. The h sadly believes he is just saying that to get her lurve club groove on with him tho, so she doesn't react.

As a big surprise, where the h thinks she might have to leave the H behind rather than give up grooming unicorns without the appropriate ceremony and gold band, the H takes her to meet his family for his mum's birthday.

There a very wanna be OW who shows up and everyone but the H's mum completely dislikes her - they are firmly on the h's side and the H doesn't seem to be too impressed with the OW either.

The h has a several frets and inner wobblies over the course of the visit and right before the H tries to propose, the h dumps him.

Then she has the prerequisite HP mopey moment when she thinks the H believes her rejection and has gone away.

The h is panicking because she knows she loves him, but this H has truly developed a spine of steel - he tries one last time and the h throws herself into his arms and declares her Forever Love and Devotion for a huge pink sparkly HEA and the unicorns will just have to dance on to the next HP h.

I really liked the H in this one, he was funny, cute and a seriously nice guy. I had to check the cover a few times to make sure I was really in HPlandia and hadn't veered off an a side trip to HRtopia.

However, this really is an HP adventure, (albeit one more akin a lazy glide down a slow river,) and it was a very nice stress relieving day at the HP office.

This was a very good book. At first I thought Nick was a jerk, the way he reacted to Cory's aunt's dog knocking him over. I didn't have hopes for him as a likable hero. However, I have to say that he made me eat my words. He showed a lot of consideration, patience, and caring for Cory, who wasn't an easy woman to love in some ways. I don't hold it against Cory. I can totally see why she was so reluctant to open her heart to Nick. She had some very deep emotional scars, layered on top of each other. First from neglectful parents, and then with a bad relationship. She truly believed she was unlovable. She probably should have gotten counseling, but how many of us are walking wounded from a lifetime of toxic relationships? With the full book behind me, I really appreciated Nick for his love for Cory that took him through some rough patches with her. However, I did get the feeling that Cory was worth it, and I was glad that she had someone who did love her unconditionally when she had suffered the lack of that from two people who should have given more of that then she could handle.

Maybe I am applying this to the book because I know Helen Brooks is a Christian, but it reminded me of Christ's love for me. That made me appreciate this book on a deeper level, because I can see that Christlike love in Nick (although he is a human male with human desires and emotions. However, the Apostle Paul does tell men to love their wives like Christ loves his church, so Nick isn't setting a unknown precedent here).

I can see why a Goodreads friend of mine appreciates Helen Brooks books so much. If Nick is an example of her heroes in how he treated Cory, then Helen does heroes well. He was both masculine and sexy, but also loving and gentlemanly. A very nice combination.

This was a good Harlequin Presents. It kept my interest, with sexy chemistry between Nick and Cory, paired with a deep, abiding, dare I say healing love. I look forward to reading more of her books.

"The Millionaire prospective Bride" is the story of Nick and Cory.
Nick and Cory meet when her aunt's dog Rufus runs him over. He is instantly bestotted and relentlessly pursues her. She on the other hand keeps him an arms length, because of her past with her ex William.
I found the heroine REALLY annoying. OK, so you had a shitty ex. So your parents didn't love you. BUT the hero has a traumatic past too. He is actually worshipping you, going through all your self pity and pushing away sessions- never giving up- but her whine is a gift that keeps on giving.
Nick did not deserve her.
Also ends suddenly.

PS. The book has no "lovemaking" at all.

HP titles are so terrible, but unicorn alert! H starts off as a typical arrogant guy on first meeting the h, but turns out to be infinitely patient and kind and understanding and well-adjusted, with a happy childhood and a loving family to boot. How’d Helen Brooks sneak this one by the Harlequin editors?

A very dry bit of reading. It always seems to about want to grab your attention, then it just disappears, never quiet reeling you in.

Cory James is a social worker and when she meets millionaire Nick Morgan, it is not the best of situations. Having her aunt's dog knock Nick flat on his back in a park sets Cory up to spending time with Nick as payback.

Nick had lost his first love and wife many years before to a drunk driver on Christmas Eve. He might be older than Cory, but he could understand love and loss. Cory had already had a rich man claim to love her, while all along he wanted to bed her, and she did not trust the feelings she felt for Nick, or the feelings he claimed to have for her. Nick tries to give Cory the room she needs to come to terms with her feelings, and his for her.

It was cute. H was very disagreeable about being knocked over by the supercute dog.
He was a great H in the end though and declared his love early on.
h was super insecure and really needed to give the guy a break she is lucky to have him.

I loved this book. It was just so sweet. Through everything he did for her, you could really see his love. One reason that made their love sweeter was because their relationship was never based on sex! It's slightly different from what I'm used to reading but it's sweet all the same!

This time, I could really and truly see his love for her and her for him. It just brings to mind how easily people can fall in love as long as it's with the right guy. I really loved this book. It's certainly worth reading.

Though a little slow and dry at times, I couldnt help but be wowed at how awesome he was. I mean he was so sweet, so wonderful. Kinda makes it impossible for anyone to find that sort of guy.

Well, I won't say anymore just try it for yourself!

Sometimes a hero or heroine is so emotionally damaged that I struggle to believe their happy ever after. That didn’t quite happen in this case although it came close. The hero in this novel is kind and understanding enough to help her and because he loves her I do feel that they will be happy together. He will soothe her anxieties. She is actually a lovely person and will bloom.

Abbandonato. Le beghe familiari di una madre che necessita di un avvocato e che per farlo assume l’ex della figlia non fanno proprio per me.

I put this down experiencing a harlequin overload and decided to finish it before the story got away from me. Never a good thing to read a book in chunks. But still I like this one, this being a minority harlequin in which the H is not a royal bitter jerk dishing mean insults to the h on the surface.

The h in this is a bit complicated, a bit like me so I can totally relate to her insecurities and paranoia. She is quite exasperating if you don't really have the same mentality as her I believe, not daring to believe in a hea and trusting the H, her emotions dashing hither and forth like a seesaw.

To make this work, we need a saint of a H that is patient, tender, understanding and wise. We got that in chunks. The H is really to die for with his neverending love, we can see that by how he takes care of the h and how he handles her. He tries real hard to break through by dosing her with his caring loving actions and a few heart to heart honest hometruths. This is a clean romance, which I appreciate, as it shows how much consideration and tolerance H has for h, and it makes his love all the more believable. It will indeed be quite sordid and wrong to me if he brings her to bed before she is able to trust him, his ultimate goal being spending the rest of his life with her.

I would have liked the reconciliation scene to be more of the H going a bit crazy and more forceful but then I guess with her being a so skittish and damaged, he probably won't want to make a move until she gave any ok signal.

This is going to have a special place as this is definitely standard harlequin H (only recall another one before this). And next time maybe I will enjoy this more if I go at it in one sitting.

Cory sosok wanita yang keras kepala dan keras hati,,asli yah,,lama2 gedek jg ngelihat tingkahnya yang selalu saja mempertanyakan motif seseorang. Maybe, for the 1st time its okay but setelah jalan berapa bln trs hbs itu sudah mulai saling mengenal apa susahnya sih kasih percayaan sedikit sama yang ingin mengenal itu.

Nick Morgan was way out of Cory's league. Wealthy, suave and devastatingly handsome, he was a legendary playboy who had women falling at his feet. If and when he decided to marry, surely his chosen wife would be blond and beautiful--not plain and sweet looking like Cory?

But, it seemed, Nick had set his sights on conquering Cory and was determined to have her at any cost. But, she had to wonder, was it really her that he wanted, or her innocence

Muy interesante la manera como la autora pone las diferencias entre los protas. El resumen no hace justicia a la historia, es más profunda.
