I've been a writer, one way or another, all my life. Before I could read, I made up poems and my mom wrote them down for me. In elementary school, my teachers almost always let me write poems or stories instead of requiring me to do art projects. Always, I dreamed of becoming a published writer...and that dream came true! I write novels about sexy, powerful men and independent-minded women, and what happens when they find each other and fall in love. My books are sexy and romantic, and they've very often full of romantic suspense. I write the kinds of books I love to read, and I hope that makes my readers happy.
Sandra Marton heroes always fall in love against their will. I felt a little like that myself, reading this book against my will. It was so cliched, so repetitive, so aggravating, and yet I couldn’t put it down.
Prince Lucas is sent to Texas to purchase new breeding stock for his horse ranch -- not realizing that the breeding is actually intended to be his. His grandfather has hatched a scheme to get him married to Alyssa, the step-daughter of a Texas rancher, through a contract to buy the ranch she loves. Although unenforceable (props to Marton for noting that) the contract will make life miserable for Alyssa unless they marry. Somehow, despite the fact that Alyssa is a royal pain in the ass, Lucas can’t bear to see that happen, and sweeps her off to his country to figure things out.
Both characters here were obnoxious in my least favorite ways. Imagine the most annoying version of a feisty heroine and you’ll have Alyssa. Lucas responds by shutting her up with angry kisses -- this happens at least four times, not counting all the times he just thinks about doing it. And Marton has used these same tropes so many times. If you’ve read her before, you can really see the man behind the mirror.
But what can I say, when it works, it works. I was glued to the page. By the last fourth of the book, the angsty lure of reluctant devotion had me thoroughly enjoying it. Still have to rate it down for all the nonsense that came before.
The last book in this trilogy and the one I enjoyed the most.
Yes, the plot is predictable, been done before...but it still had me enthralled.
So, the hero..Lucas Reyes, the Spanish prince(I wonder if he's related to the Spanish royal family!!!), is the usual alpha-male, arrogant, rich (of course)and believes all women are the same - out to get a man with money by whatever means available...really!!!! That's why he invites his present "mistress"...is that label still used today???? to travel with him to Texas to check out a ranch that his abuelo (that's grandfather in...)has purchased (of course we know that the wily fox has a trick up his sleeve....that concerns his adored grandson!!)...oh right, about Lucas present paramour..she's definitely stylish and dressed for the occassionthat's right...Texas is after all the land of "cowgirls"!!!
After an adventure of two, Lucas and his "cowgirl" arrive at the ranch, only to discover....you will find out if you read the book!!
But I will tell you that Alyssa McDonough is no "cowgirl" pin-up. I rather liked this heroine. She at least had some backbone and "grit". Naturally His Majesty Lucas soon has her under his CONTROL!! Did we ever think anything different!!!
Off he "trots" or rather flies off in his private jet..with Alyssa in tow to Spain so that he can confront his abuelo about what he believes is a total unacceptable scheme.
Unfortunately abuelo has a heart attack and uncommunicado..which gives Lucas an opportunity to "suss" Alyssa out!!!
And guess what??? He soon becomes totally smitten! Never did we doubt that he would...right??
Once recovered, abuelo is soon up to his next plot....and poor Lucas is soon totally over his head....I love seeing this kind of man being out of his comfort zone, don't you??
Now, as I mentioned before, Alyssa ain't stupid...she might now be a royal but heck she's no wallflower either..in fact she's pretty clued up to the shenanigans quite fast.
Was it not fabulous to see Lucas crawling and begging in the end? But hell, we knew that Alyssa was totally besotted with the man...so how could she not forgive and give in!!!
The dialogue - which made the story for me - is truly fabulous...this author knows how to write great conversations and the interaction between Lucas and his grandfather are a total laugh a minute, never mind the banter between the Prince and the Texan "cowgirl".
Heroine was a shrew. Hero was an entitled jerk. The author spun out arguments and explanations that could have been conveyed in a paragraph or two, but took pages of pointless dialogue and prose.
And this was the highest rated of the trilogy! Yikes.
A hero Who is thinking of annulling a marriage before it takes place.. As he spends time with the heroine he thinks it more lust than love because he does not do love And marriage is not in his vocabulary. . Time changes his mind and lust becomes love. Not great but will help to pass the time.
Prince Lucas Reyes is used to having things his way, but he's never met a woman as willful and determined as Alyssa McDonough. Unfortunately, the two of them have found themselves linked by an unbelievable contract written by Alyssa's father and Lucas's grandfather. The setup is nothing but melodrama, but I was adequately distracted by Lucas & Alyssa's passionate arguing, followed by passionate lovemaking. For a quick read like this, there were just enough genuine touches to keep it believable and enjoyable.
This was another earlier book by Sandra and it was also very enjoyable. It is about Alyssa and Prince Lucas. Prince Lucas father strikes a deal without Alyssa and Lucas's knowledge, with Lucas's grandfather that upon Alyssa's fathers death he inherits their property which is a run down old horse farm. He also inherits Alyssa as part of the deal. Of course neither one wants the other, so the problems begin, Please take the time to read this one it is a good read

The hands-down best scene in this book is the men friendship scene.
Pull quotes/notes "He was also His Highness Prince Lucas Carlos Alessandro Reyes Sanchez of Andalusia and Castile, heir to a throne that had ceased to exist centuries ago, which made him the great-great-great-Dios, too many 'greats' to count-grandson of a king who had been among the conquistadores who tamed a distant land." (8)
"Unlike Delia, who was decked out in a gender-challenged designer's misbegotten notion of the Old West, Lucas had dressed for the realities of a Texas summer." (12)
108 "A soft kiss, while she slept. A purposeful caress. By the time she was completely awake, he'd be inside her... Madre de Dios. What kind of man would even contemplate such a thing?"
"But he was only human. And when Alyssa moved, when her body arched, when her womb began tightening around. him, Lucas knew he was lost." (113)
142 "You tossed out my clothes without asking me? "Of course. What was the point in asking when I knew you would insist on keeping them?" (142)
"He was laughing and it was impossible not to laugh will him." (142) (this is some Belinda blinked 3 stuff)
About the book, Prince Lucas Reyes is angry. His grandfather is forcing him into marriage with penniless Alyssa McDonough who's pretending she's untouched by any man. But the intense sexual chemistry between them tells him otherwise...
Lucas's fiery royal blood is roused! He'll force Lyssa to go to Spain with him, where he can get their marriage annulled. Because he'd swear that she's pure, uninhibited mistress material, and never a virgin bride!
I absolutely loved this book the characters were great! The setting was brilliant! I love how this all turn out.
This is bad, stuffed with all the most obnoxious HP tropes and character traits. But I read it, barely put it down. Is that good writing? Am I a sucker for OTT arrogant Hs who assault ladies to shut them up? Or for annoying hs who could/should have flown the coop months earlier but stick around hoping for a dribble of heritage?
I’m torn between bleaching my brain or digging out a Betty Neels story for a semi-sane landing.
In any case I’m done with this author. Compelling trash.
There were several ends left untied. i felt that a lot of the book was just "ideas" taken from jotted down notes and not written out fully. There was an emptiness to the story. To be honest I am sick of authors using the "she couldn't possibly be a Virgin at her age" story line.
Same deal with this one by Sandra Marton. Lots and lots of kissing and carrying the h all over the place or letting her sleep on top of you. Very mushy and sweet and comforting to read.
This is the 2nd book by this author that H shutting her up with angry kisses, WHILE h is fighting back by kicking biting punching, etc to get away this is ASAULT, & it’s not ok or romantic -million
Each time I pick up a book by Sandra Marton, I'm amazed by it's strength and power and the enjoyment it brings, especially The Spanish Prince's Virgin Bride which is the last book in Sandra's Billionaires' Brides series.
Alyssa McDonough is a firey and proud woman who is determined to save her father's ranch and someday get it back on its' feet. Even though Alyssa was adopted she thought she would inherit the ranch she loved and the land belonged to her departed mother. However, she learns otherwise and that her stepfather made an agreement witn an old friend in Spain, Felix Reyes.
Felix Reyes has hoped for years that his grandson Lucas Reyes would settle down and now he is hopeful that his plan will present an opportunity for Lucas to just do that, marry his old friend's daughter, Alyssa. What better opportunity, since he owns the land than to send Luis to Texas to meet Alyssa and visit the ranch on a pretense he is going to be looking at horses and the newly acquired Texas ranch. If Felix's plans succeed, his grandson will see the lovely and bright Alyssa and agree to an arrangement he has cooked up. Well, you think it's hot in Texas? When Alyssa and Lucas learn what both their family members cooked up, "explosive" doesn't even begin to describe what happened.
Lucas is smart, sexy, handsome, wealthy and adores his grandfather. They share a love for Spain and raising their Andalusian's so it seems natural when his grandfather sends him to honor the request and travel to view the Ranch. What Lucas doesn't expect is to meet the very beautiful, sassy and stubborn Alyssa. Immediately there are sparks and sensual tension......they are combustible together so when he learns the truth of what his Grandfather has done, he demands Alyssa accompany him back to Spain to settle and undo the terms of the agreement.
Will this independent lovely horsewoman and playboy ever come to an agreement? Their journey is one you will not want to miss. In fact, this three book triology is brilliant! Wealth, power, secrets, tension and in the end all three old friends have happy endings.
Alyssa's character tugged at my heart. She really never felt loved by her step father and her mother was reserved. In the end, she learns a secret that rocks her world plus she never expects to fall in love with the sexy and tender hearted Spaniard who brings her so much joy and pleasure.
As for Lucas, well his character is to die for and you'll fall in love with him just as Alyssa did and in the end even his meddling grandfather will have your heart as well.
The very talented Sandra Marton continues to deliver powerful, meaningful and entertaining stories to her readers. I encourage contemporary romance readers to read The Spanish Prince's Virgin Bride and the other two books in the trilogy....The Italian Prince's Pregnant Bride and The Greek Prince's Chosen Wife.
Book Summary:
'I cannot imagine a virgin would return a kiss with such fervor.'
Prince Lucas Reyes is angry. His grandfather is forcing him into marriage with penniless Alyssa McDonough who's pretending she's untouched by any man. But the intense sexual chemistry between them tells him otherwise.…
Lucas's fiery royal blood is roused! He'll force Lyssa to go to Spain with him, where he can get their marriage annulled. Because he'd swear that she's pure, uninhibited mistress material, and never a virgin bride!
Okay, this was a great end to a trilogy. LOVED the interaction between the two leads. The machinations of the two old men was...cliched but AWESOME. The interaction with his friends before the denouement was HILARIOUS and gave a lot of reality to the characters. I couldn't stand the first book in the series, but as it continued it got better and better. I'm not *quite* a fan of Sandra Marton's yet, but I'm definitely going to be seeing what else she's got.
