As one of nine siblings raised in the Deep South, plus-size PI Savannah Reid has experienced her share of family drama. But shotgun weddings and snooty in-laws don't worry her nearly as much as a search for a missing mother and child - especially when it leads to murder....

Savannah and her husband have settled back in San Carmelita, California, and life is slowly returning to normal - if "normal" means babysitting newlyweds Tammy and Waycross' incredibly fussy infant daughter. But soothing a squalling baby is kid's stuff compared to the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency's latest case. Handsome up-and-coming actor Ethan Malloy has enlisted the help of Savannah and Co. in a desperate attempt to track down his missing wife and toddler, not long before the beloved family nanny gets murdered.

With the police involved and paparazzi swarming at every turn, the discreet search becomes a sensationalized homicide investigation, leaving Savannah rushing to apprehend the killer and save the missing child. Famous heartthrobs can attract the wrong kind of attention, and some snooping into the complicated private lives of Ethan and his wife tells Savannah that she's in for a deadly chase. As Savannah dismantles bombshell after bombshell while balancing delicate family matters of her own, she soon finds herself closing in on a terrifying culprit - one who's willing to do anything for a moment in the spotlight....

G. A. McKevett has made me a cozy mysteries fan. This was a fast- paced plot that had me wanting to know till the end and I didn't guess who the kidnapper/killer was.... super entertaining, gets to the point! I liked all the characters involved {Savannah and Dirk made me smile a bit} and it ended where it should have, not dragging on by an extra unnecessary 200 pages. This is a Savannah Reid Mystery series but I didn't feel like I had to start at Book 1 and it didn't overtly, annoyingly go back and keep stating stuff from the other books which I appreciated. Cannot wait to read more of her stuff!!

Hide and Sneak by G.A.McKevett is the 23rd book in the Savannah Reid Mystery series. The Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency is hired by famous actor Ethan Malloy when his wife and son and their nanny go missing. Another excellent addition to the series. It is always good to catch up with everyone and we get to meet Tammy's parents as well as the new baby. Savannah and Dirk are a terrific partnership and work well together and it is nice to see Dirk's softer side with his interactions with Vanna Rose and I especially liked his version of Goldilocks. An interesting and entertaining cozy mystery.

Hide and Sneak by G. A. McKevett is the 23rd book in the Savannah Reid Mystery series, and another great addition. I love this series, and reading a new book is like visiting old friends. Savannah is a private investigator who owns the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency and her husband Dirk, is a police detective. Savannah and Dirk end up working the same case when the nanny for a movie actor is found dead, and his wife and baby are missing. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Another fun Savanna Reid book where west coast fame meets southern charm!
Savannah and her detective agency get the job of a lifetime when an honest to goodness movie star hires her to find his wife and son. Although lots of clues point to the husband, Savannah (and the reader) can pretty much be sure he isn't the culprit. Lots of twists and turns will have you guessing until the end. Savannah's adorable niece also makes an appearance! This book was enjoyable and I look forward to reading more books in this series.

I really liked this book. I’m a fan of this series. This is book 23 and usually when a series gets to this point it starts getting old. This one is still fresh and fun to read. Excited for the next book to come out.

John and Ryan call on Savannah to help a friend who just happens to be a popular movie star, one that Savannah thinks is quite the hunk. When she meets up with Ethan he is very upset, you see his wife left after an argument taking his son and the nanny with her. Ethan hasn't been able to reach his wife since she left and he's worried that something may have happened to them. Savannah immediately starts asking questions so that she can begin looking for Ethan's family. When the Nanny is found murdered in a park the family frequented Savannah truly begins to worry about where Ethan's wife and child are. Follow along as she delves into Ethan's life and uncovers the real culprit behind their disappearance. This is such a fun series for me because I'm from Georgia and all of Savannah's siblings are named after towns that I'm familiar with. Granny reminds me of my own and I'm always excited to see what southern sayings she will use next.

In the latest installment of the Savannah Reid series, Savannah and the midnight magnolia team are searching for the missing wife and son of a famous actor. They left with the child's nanny after the actor and his wife had a argument and they didn't come home. But when the nanny turns up dead at the park where they frequented, things don't look good for the actors wife and son. On top of the case, Tammy parents are in town and Tammy isn't exactly happy to see them so the case is a welcome distraction.

I always love reading about Savannah and her family and friends. I like that we finally got to meet Tammys parenets, though I could have done without the mother. She was too snobbish and had no respect for what her daughter wants. I loved Tammy and Waycross little Vanna Rose, and how good Dirk was with her. Wonderful edition to the series.

Savannah is asked by her close friends, John and Ryan, to help a movie star friend locate his wife and child who have gone missing.

At the same time, Tammy, the IT person of the Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency, and new mom, is stressing over her parents coming to see the baby. Once they arrived, I really wanted to send Tammy’s mom packing with a good tongue lashing. What an evil, self-centered, self-absorbed, everything must make me look good, pain in the rear. Tammy let it slide far longer than I would have.

I enjoy Dirk and Savannah together and always have a few chuckles with their banter. I especially liked Dirk’s comment about keeping “big Dirk and the twins under wraps.” Dirk’s character has come a long way. He’s still a gruff, protective, straight talking, can make a penny scream, take no crap cop. BUT it’s also nice to see how he softens with Savannah, granny, the baby and occasionally Tammy.

I liked seeing John and Ryan. I think the best books of this series has these two actively involved in the case. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that I can hear John’s British accent in my head. ;)

These books are a fun, light, escape for an afternoon read. I look forward to the next one.

A fast read with lovable characters. You could probably read as a stand alone but you would miss the well loved background of the Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency and the Reid/Coulter families.

When Savannah's newest client becomes the lead suspect in Dirk's latest homicide, everyone rallies to uncover all of the potential suspects until the true kidnapper and killer confesses.

Tammy's stuffy NYC parents arrive in San Carmelita CA to take her back,, away from the transplanted Georgia family she loves. With Savannah's support Tammy is able to make herself heard.

Solving the crime was a steady plot with many 'who done it' twists.

Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency’s is back with another case. In this latest case the handsome up-and-coming actor Ethan Malloy has enlisted the help of Savannah and Co. in a desperate attempt to track down his missing wife and child. Something seems off about the nanny so when the family nanny gets murdered, it's time for Savannah to get busy.

I had a tough time getting into this book. It seemed a bit stifled in the beginning but once I got into it, I was intrigued.

Great series. The Magnolia Detective agency is on a case of a major movie star.
His wife and child have been disappeared and likely kidnapped. A particularly heart wrenching case since a little boy is involved and the nanny is found dead.Ethan Malloy is a famous actor and attracts a lot of the wrong kind of attention.
It is up to Savannah, her friends at the detective agency and her detective husband, Dirk to figure out what is going on and who is at fault.
Funny, humorous and southern wisdom makes a good story and lightens up the story.

Savannah and her husband are babysitting for a coworker’s baby and trying to prepare the mother for a visit from her parents who want her to move back home, when a new case comes to their agency. A popular actor, Ethan’s wife , child and nanny are missing. They find the nanny dead and rush to find the wife and child. Jealous ex’s, fans and incriminating pictures muddy their search. The author keeps their series going with no dull parts.

This is book 23 in the Savannah Reid series and is a wonderful addition. Savannah and her husband Dirk are about to be embroiled in a kidnapping murder case while helping out her brother Waycross and his wife Tammy and their baby. The Magnolia Detective agency is hired by famous actor Ethan Mallory to find his wife and baby. Soon the nanny is found dead and the police are now involved. On the homefront, Tammy's obnoxious parents are visiting California and trying to ruin her marriage. Lots of action in this one, that can be read as a stand alone but more enjoyable when you know all the back story. G.A. McKevett keeps the series fresh and the readers yearning for more. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have enjoyed other Savannah Reid mysteries more than this one; perhaps I just wasn't in the mood for McKevett's folksy, extended descriptions.

Example:

"She could see a level of trust in this eyes, and for a moment, the enormity of the situation struck her. Ethan Malloy was placing in her hands the most serious situation of his life.
"He was the envy of the world, living in his castle, high above the ocean fogs. The recipient of so much love and adoration, receiving millions of dollars every time he signed a new contract.
"Who wouldn't want to be Ethan Malloy?
"But, sitting there on the wealthy, successful, beloved actor's antique settee with its beautiful hand-stitched forest scene - a piece of furniture that probably cost more than everything she owned - Savannah wouldn't have traded her life for his."

And two pages later:

"Savannah couldn't even imagine weighing the same, decade after decade. Having spent most of her twenties and thirties yo-yo dieting, she had celebrated her fortieth birthday by abandoning the counterproductive practice and deciding to love herself whatever the scale might register. As a result, her weight had stabilized at a number that was greater than society might like, but one that she had initially accepted and eventually embraced."

I appreciate detail, but I draw the line at filler. Hide and Sneak is a 200-page novel padded to 277 pages.

Savannah Reid and the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency have a new case that is about a movie star and his missing wife and child. The child's nanny, also missing at first, has been found, dead in a park. The wife's car and the child's back pack of necessities are later found in the same park bringing chills to PI Savannah as well as husband police detective Dirk Coulter.

While Savannah and Dirk are trying to find the missing wife and son as well as get to the bottom of the nanny's murder, Tammy and Waycross are going through a rough visit from Tammy's parents. Although you would be hard pressed to find a nicer, smarter, or more loyal friend and employee, Tammy's parents have little love or respect for her. They are trying to talk Tammy into leaving Waycross and bringing baby Vanna back to New York. How long can Tammy hold firm? Will her horrible snotty mother ever give up? When they all meet up for dinner, even Granny is unable to make Tammy's mother become less offensive. One thing is clear, only the mother is fighting to get Tammy to leave California. Her father doesn't add anything to the conversation, and both Tammy and Waycross are adamant that she is staying.

I always enjoy this series as the author manages to dispense wisdom on keeping a husband happy as Savannah solves grizzly crimes. Her tact and techniques often come from helping raise 9 siblings and listening to her wise granny. Her ability as a PI to solve cases come from being a policewoman as well as all the common sense she has accrued. Author McKevett has presented a close knit group of intelligent and sensitive individuals as the core of her series. While much fun is made of Dirk and his redneck ways (and grumpiness and lack of tact), he also shows that he knows how to handle the people he comes in contact with exactly as they need. Between Dirk and the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency, years of experience, success at solving crimes, and good judgement of people they come in contact with have paid off. Each book deals with crimes of a serious nature, but along with dispensing sensible advice, there is humor and love. It adds up to a winning combination for the series.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy for my voluntary review

Hide and Sneak is the 23rd book in G. A. McKevett’s Savannah Reid Mystery awesome series. The author provides enough character background that this book can be read as a standalone without the reader feeling lost. The storyline is well thought out, the well-developed characters are affable, is full of compassion and caring, and the dialogue is witty and engaging. There are lots of laughs and some adult language, but no graphic violence or sexually explicit situations. This quickly paced whodunit kept me guessing until the reveal. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading light, cozy mysteries.

Savannah Reid used to be a police officer, but now she’s the owner of the Moonlight Magnolia Detective Agency in San Carmelita, California. Ethan Malloy, a successful film star hires Savannah to find his wife, Elizabeth “Beth” Sarsone, and their twenty-one month old son, Freddy. Beth stormed out of their home, taking Freddy and his nanny, Pilar Padilla, after having an intense argument with Ethan the previous day. Beth isn’t responding to his phone calls or text messages and Pilar’s parents are worried because they haven’t heard from her. Savannah’s husband, Detective Sergeant Dirk Coulter, is called out to investigate a suspicious death in a local park. Once the victim is identified as Pilar and the coroner determines the cause of death, the search is on for a murderer. Time is of the essence and Savannah, her team, Dirk, and his officers, quickly begin an all-out search for Beth and Freddy. Meanwhile, Savannah is worried about Tammy, who isn’t just her talented assistant, but also her best friend and sister-in-law. Tammy hasn’t been herself since she learned her parents were coming to visit her, her new husband, Waycross, and their two-month-old daughter, Vanna Rose. Savannah quickly learns that Tammy’s mother, Dr. Lenora Hart, is a snobbish complainer who has no respect for what her daughter wants, and tries to convince her to leave Waycross and move back to New York.

"Oh, for heaven's sake."

Savannah is referred to a prominent movie star to locate his missing wife, child, and nanny.

This series always feels like I am visiting old friends. I have watched Savannah grow over the last twenty plus books. Her brother Waycross is now married to her friend Tammy and they have a beautiful daughter named after Savannah. Dirk is the ultimate baby whisperer which makes me smile.

There is a lot of miscommunication between Ethan, the client, and his wife. There are multiple suspects and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I love that Granny Reid now lives in California and is an integral part of the detective agency. Dirk is his usual grumpy self and causes tension with the medical examiner and head CSI investigator. Savannah always comes to the rescue with chocolate chip cookies.

The Southernisms make me smile. I was happy that Waycross was the only Reid involved in this book other than Granny. Marietta makes me grind my teeth when she is in the story. The addition of Tammy's parents was interesting. Her mother disapproves of everything in Tammy's California life and tries to convince her to come back East. I was pleased with Tammy for standing up for herself and her family.

The mystery was well done and I did not pick up on the culprit until Savannah did. I love this series and look forward to reading the next book soon.

It's been a few years since I picked up a Savanna Reid mystery. Much to my own loss. As always the main character Savanna is funny and wise. The book grips you almost right away. Been reading G.A. McKevett for over ten years and the magic is stronger than ever with her characters. It was like meeting old friends when I opened the book and caught up on what the Magnolia gang has been uo to. I think I missed two books but that didn't matter.

Not for the first time Savanna's skills as a private eye are called on by a famous celebrity. A handsome actor who asks for help for family trouble. Of course Savanna's new case and a fresh case for her, now husband, Dirk turn out being the same case. Dirk is a detective with the LAPD. The case has more twists and turns than I imagined, with suspects abound. Unlike most books with this many suspects, the writer makes each character so real it's easy for the reader to keep them all straight, and as such really attempt to try and figure out, who done it.

The ending was a little shocking and came on rather fast, not out of left field but just sort of thrown at you, still it was interesting. I won't lie the result of the case was not a happy one but then again that is how life can be at times. I highly suggest reading this book but make sure you read her other books first or you are really missing out.

This was actually better than the last one in the series but I have decided I have come to the end of the road in this series. Savannah's family was less obnoxious and intrusive and more time was spent on the mystery.

There were so many things annoying about this book. One of the potential suspects was accused of animal abuse because he feed a duck a jalapeño pepper. Birds are not affected but the hot pepper chemical and it does not harm them. It is sometimes used in bird feeders to deter squirrels. They kept bringing it up throughout the book.

The client asks Savannah not to show anybody else a compromising photo. She does not but discusses it at a dinner party with people outside the agency. Splitting hairs, perhaps, but very unprofessional.

A one year old's diaper bag contained a coloring book and crayons. Even though he was close to two, nope.

Referring to the nanny as "our little friend" and other disrespectful and weird phrases.

All the female stereotypes. How women should always look their best and make the most of what they got. Of course Dirk does not want a super lacy, girly bathroom. Most people over the age of 12 do not.

How southern people are so superior to others in the country.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Savannah Reid is a handy lady to have around when things start to go wonky. She is smart, confident, capable and very likeable. She is comfortable in her own skin with good reason. She is also a good PI. So when she is hired by a very hunky movie star to find out what happened to his wife, baby and nanny, he has put his trust in good hands.
Trust is a real issue here as is the damage those who would manipulate others can do. When the nanny is found murdered and there is still no sign of the wife and child, things look bleak. Savannah is determined to figure out what happened and where the missing family members might be. First, she has to dig through some a whole lot of garbage, some real and some imagined. In a world that is filled with fantasy, truth is often well disguised.
It is a good mystery that keeps the reader guessing with Savannah. She ultimately discovers who is behind the disappearance and it reveals an ugly side of fame. All the while, the characters are believable and compelling as we are whisked along to the conclusion.
I give it five purrs and two paws up.

It's all about family. Savanah Reid and the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency are one kind of family, a great team looking out for each other. Their current case involves another family - a missing mother and child. The husband last saw them, in the company of their nanny, after an argument. The nanny is found murdered. Working with her police detective husband, Dirk, they search for the mother and child while, at the same time, they help Tammy deal with her difficult parents. Her mother is determined to take her back to New York. Sorry, not going to happen if Savanah has anything to say about it. Tammy wants to stay, her husband and child and her extended family are her world and her mother better get used to it.
This is #23 in the series but it can be read alone. The mystery is solid, full of the necessary twists and turns and surprises. The characters are people I would like to know...with the exception of Tammy's parents.

Wonderful cozy starring Savannah Reid, plus size PI of the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency. Savannah is hired to find actor Ethan Malloy's missing wife, daughter and nanny. When the nanny is found dead, the search shifts into high gear. I liked this mystery because every time Savannah and her husband Detective Sergeant Dirk Coulter began investigating a suspect with a good motive, they also had a good alibi. They do eventually solve the mystery which has a somewhat happy ending. Savannah also helps her sister-in-law and brother live through a visit of the in-laws. What a nasty mother-in-law! Savannah and her brother Waycross were raised in the Deep South, but now they live in southern California. Everyone in Savannah's family is interesting. I really liked the relationship between Savannah and Dirk. I like that Savannah is plus size and is ok with it. I like how she cares about people, even people she doesn't know. Good story, good detecting.

Reading a 'Savannah Reid' novel is like visiting with old, dear friend. I walked away from both 'Hanna Swenson' and 'Lucy Stone' novels in 2016 because I just couldn't care about either them, but there is something so warm about 'Savannah Reid' and her team that keeps me coming back.

As in all the 'Savannah Reid' novels, Hide and Sneak deftly mixes warmth, banter and sometimes needed snippiness with family and friends, graciousness, words of wisdom and hard words when they need to be heard with a mystery that needs to be solved. My favorite quote from Hide and Sneak comes 'Granny Reid':
"In life, bad changes can happen in an instant. Good changes seem to take a lot more time and work. Life's unfair that way."

Is Savannah Reid another Sam Spade or Miss Marple solving timeless mysteries? Nope. Do I care? Not a whit!

Savannah Reid and the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency are back with their newest case. This time, a famous and much loved actor's wife, son and nanny have disappeared and Savannah has been hired to find them. On top of that, Tammy's parents are in town and her mother is determined to make her come home with them. She thinks Tammy's marriage, new baby and choice of career are all a big mistake. But don't worry... Savannah and Granny will set things right.
This series is lots of fun, full of sass, and southern charm. This book was no exception. If you enjoy a good mystery and could use a pick-me-up, then this is the book for you.

A delightful addition to this long running series- but you can read and enjoy it as a standalone. Savannah is in California now so of course she's going to get involved in a case where the wife and son of an actor-Ethan- have gone missing and the nanny is dead. Her husband Dirk is also on the case as are her friends in the Midnight Magnolia Detective Agency. There are some secrets here, as well as some twists, and the mystery is pretty entertaining. A secondary plot line involves the totally unrealistic parents of Tammy (especially her mother), Savannah's sister in law and employee, who want her to leave her husband and bring her baby to their home in New York. What snots. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun cozy series that mixes family and mystery.

Famous actor's famous wife, their child and their nanny disappear, and the actor calls in Savannah Reid because he's worried, but not worried enough to call the police.
I'm indifferent about this book. The plot was okay and I didn't figure out who dunnit until the main characters did. The main characters were okay, but I didn't really care about them or their personal issues.
I realized after I started that this is the 23rd in a series, and I haven't read the others. Maybe I'd like the characters more if I had. I think more likely I wouldn't have picked up the book.
It was like having a mystery show on TV while talking with friends. It didn't grab my full attention, but I could keep up without really trying.
Probably won't read another in the series.

I was given this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I had never read a Savannah Reid book, so starting at #23 might not have been the best idea, but I had no problem following along. There was enough background given to keep things straight but not so much to be annoying to regular readers of the series.

In this story, Savannah is hired by Ethan Malloy, a famous actor, to find his missing wife and son, and his son's nanny. Suspects are numerous, but one by one, they are each ripped off of Savannah's mental post-it list of suspects. I was surprised by who was the culprit.

The side story about Savannah's family was interesting, and the characters were all very likable. I really look forward go starting this series from the beginning.
