Fayroll #4

Gong and Chalice

Rate this book
I believe Vasilyev to be the only author who's achieved such a credible mix of real life and virtual reality. This alone is enough to put Fayroll in Top-5 of Russian LitRPG titles.
G. Akella, the author of "Realm of Arkon."
Coups, brides, and quests. A recruitment office and a Recruitment Sergeant, it’s a new thing for Hagen the Warrior but nostalgia for Kif as he ponders joining a ‘Free Company’ heading South. But is he ready for what awaits him? And is the final Dryad worth it as the quest comes to its epic conclusion.
As the Dryad Quest finally comes to an end, Kif must first start a revolution in Fayroll. Only a Palace Coup can complete the quest and change the rulers of the West. Finally, he gets to meet an old God of Fayroll, but it isn’t as he expected; Kif gets drawn into an even bigger and more important quest than anyone could have imagined. Are his manners good enough to please the god so that he can do it? Probably not; but only he can decide if he continues the adventure with the knowledge that time is running out, as his Villa Bride waits for him, and his punishment if he fails to return to her in time.
Meanwhile, in the real world a ‘nice’ visit from Vika’s sister, the mysterious Elina, reveals a gaming secret and causes turmoil for Harry; not to mention troublesome work colleagues, and an expanding staff, as The Fayroll Times grows in popularity and staff. It is a busy time for Kif.
Expertly mixing the real world and game world like few other books can achieve this series is a masterpiece of LitRPG. The synergy between the worlds is natural and both the in-game and real-world narratives are highly engaging and entertaining while developing the story to an exciting climax.
Fayroll continues to grow as a series. With a return of good humor, excellent descriptions and its almost cinematic imagery, Vasilyev continues to demonstrate his exceptional skills as a writer. The fans of Fayroll enjoy the series with every new book. This is an excellent example of LitRPG filled with all the fantasy and sword and sorcery a reader could ask for.
Translated by Jared Firth, keeping close to the original text of Vasilyev's fantasy Juggernaut, including cultural references adapted for the English mindset. This is especially beneficial when it comes to the author's sense of humor.

Andrey Vasilyev's writing career began in 2013 when he had "run out of things to read." Since then, the creator of the Fayroll series has secured himself a reputation as a top author in the relatively new, yet extremely popular genre of LitRPG. A blend of sword and sorcery, cyberpunk meets Sci-Fi and a heroic fantasy at The Cutting Edge of virtual reality.

At times, I feel I was meant to be an innkeeper someplace on the outskirts of Bree in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. However, in real life, I am a much-celebrated Moscow-based author, as well as one of the originators of the relatively new, yet insanely popular, LitRPG genre that blends cyberpunk, classic sci-fi, and fantasy.

I started writing in my late 30’s and only “because there was nothing handy to read,” but after my first two books gained nearly instant acclaim, I had to give serious thought to changing my current banking career to that of a professional writer. Fortunately for my readers, who had voted his debut novel More Than a Game (link) the “Best Book of the Year 2014,” I never looked back after that.

Over the next few years, I continued work on the now-bestselling Fayroll series, maintained a blog, and participated in various multiple-author projects. I am also the author of The Raven’s Flock and The Arch series, which will soon be available in English.

There was a lot of stuff that was skippable/skimmable.

The main character becomes more and more of a jackass the longer the stories continues and the plot armor is so strong on this that you could build a castle on top.

I'm getting very ambivalent about the series, but you can definitely see the Russian-ess come through.

Great Again

The adventures/quest got mostly cleaned up. The bosses keep giving him more and more money and materialistic stuff. His girl turns downs another super promotion and meets his mom and dad. He gets out of his in game marriage.
Your losing money and readers the more it cost. I am a KU reader and I budget only so much for the big to time Authors per month. You're not even in my top 50. That would take multiple series. I am currently enjoying this very entertaining fast paced action packed story, but please don't make me choose...

Nebavilo. Mám problém nájsť postavu, ktorú by som pochopil. Hlavného hrdinu rozhodne nie. A klanoví hráči si idú svoje, nie je žiadna logika v ich správaní. O čo to vlastne bojujú?

Frankly, I am loosing interest in this series after reading this book. The MC is always whining about the main quest he has to complete. Then there are the rantings about life and women which goes on for pages. We get boared easily reading through those. Totally not a good continuation for the series..

Epic

This series is pure gold. I finally realized why. The author understands people and our lovable main character is pragmatic to a degree that most of us find chilling, endearing, wise, and are jealous of while not having the stones to emulate. In short, he is as we wish ourselves to be, and that is the magic of this series.

Always fun

I always enjoy Fayroll and book 4 is no exception. I always enjoy the more pragmatic, dare I even say negative voice the MC gives us in Fayroll.

I'm so addicted to this series! Easily some of the best from the LitRPG genre. It ends in a cliff-hanger which already has me in anticipation.

Kif makes further progress on his quests, and gets to the next level. In between, there's revolution, revelation, and religion.
