The Hamilton Sisters #2

The Best Man's Proposal

Rate this book
Niki Hamilton had her hopes pinned on moving to Europe with her boyfriend. But then he dumped her. By text message. Just before her sister’s wedding. Left dateless in a flamingo-pink monstrosity of a bridesmaid dress, she decides to drown her sorrows in a glass of tall, dark, and handsome.

Firefighter Grant Powers has been burned by love, but when his best friend’s new sister-in-law falls into his arms—and stays there for one sexy night—he enjoys the experience a little too much.

Then a rental snafu leaves Niki temporarily homeless. So, gentleman and masochist that he is, Grant offers his spare bedroom. Despite the smoldering sexual tension between them, starting anything would be playing with fire.

Now, they just have to survive living together for a few weeks…

Wynter Daniels has written another fantastic book! I really enjoyed the "The Best Man's Proposal". Niki and Grant have a one night stand at Niki sisters wedding thinking they weren't going to be running into each other after that, but how wrong they were. Niki moves into Grants place till she can get back on her feet again. As their romance goes on we get to see them really start to find true love with each other and mend their broken hearts. There are many funny moments in this story and of course the fat cat named Sarge... I would totally recommend this book for anyone who wants a great love story that is light hearted.

Niki and Grant met at her sister Lucy’s wedding. They both only wanted one thing with no strings attached. Grant was a gorgeous fireman who liked to help anyone and everyone. Niki was self conscious about herself and worked at a new night club in town for a sleeze of a boss. Grant was recently divorced and Niki had just had her heart broken. Neither of them looking for love. A one night stand is just what they both need, or is it?
Grab your copy of this awesome book to see what’s going on in the world of the Hamilton sisters. You won’t regret it. Great story and characters. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I absolutely enjoyed the true to life characters and a storyline that I could relate to.... Niki Hamilton received a break up text while at her sisters wedding.. so what does she do? She spends an off the charts amazing night with Grant Powers, the best man... that's the end of it, or so they thought.
This is really their story. Lots of funny moments, tons of temptation, soul searching, and a fat orange cat named Sarge....
I do recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great love story.

Overall I enjoyed this. Very little angst in the romance area and fun.

Characters:

Grant: loved him. He didn’t whine or feel life was unfair. He was a kind, sweet and sexy firefighter. He was leaving Miami so he could go home to help his parents with the farm. I loved how he was always there to help people. there were no pretenses with him-what you see is what you get. He was great to Niki. Whenever she was in a jam he helped her out. For example: flowers for the club he got them for her.

Niki- she was okay. I liked her in general but I felt she was to life is down on me and to damsel in distress for most of the book. She tried to say she was strong and independent but wasn’t always. When things went awry she got down on herself and brought more drama than needed. I did enjoy her with Grant. In the end she matured the most and really grew up. She learned to stand up for herself and not be a pushover. she learned to take control of situations and not get down because of them.

Side characters: Grant’s family was sweet and fun. Niki’s boss was a douchecanoe but her brother in law and sister were great.

Romance: we begin with a funny scene and have some serious attraction between Niki and Grant. I enjoyed the banter between them. They were trying for just friendship due to the situation but so glad it turned into more. I enjoyed watching Grant come to terms with his past and realize that Niki is not his ex and to take a chance. Niki learned that Grant doesn’t want to hold her back and that he would support her and be there for her not get in her way. She was stubborn at first about her goals but does realize what she wants in the end and goes for it. the romance area was fun, flirty and sexy when needed.

Overall: enjoyed. Niki added the angst in her own life because she was needing to grow and find her voice but in the romance little angst and drama.

Two people who seem so wrong for each other are somehow also perfect together. It's a story about opposites and how they come over their differences simply because they know that their love is worth all that. I loved it! And I think their story is truly amazing. It's a must read for every contemporary romance fan. I enjoyed it a lot, with so many laugh-out-loud moments and swoon-worthy romantic scenes.

Niki wants to get out of under her sister's shadow. What more she wants to work and love in Europe. It has always been her dream and she is willing to endure a few hardships now and then if it means that ultimately she will be moving to London. Also after a few bad experiences she has decided love is not in the cards for her. She just wants to focus on her carrier and achieve what she has always wanted in her life. Until she meets Grant.

Grant is a country man, he is waiting for his house to be sold so that he can move back to take care of his family's farm. What he and Niki has can go no further than friends with benefits. But for some reason he wants more, after a long time he has felt this way about someone, and he just wants to give it a try.

Although, they both have decided that they are wrong for each other and any relationship between them will not work, but the fate has something else in mind....

I love both Niki and Grant. The author has done a great job with these two characters, they're very well written. Niki is exactly the kind of heroine I like most, and well, Grant is definitely something to talk about. Together they are simply perfect and the chemistry between them is off the charts hot. I quite enjoyed reading their story and I hope others do too.

I am a sucker for any Entangled books. This one was not different.
Niki Hamilton is kind of a sad sack. She is living rent free at her sisters, while working a new job she hopes lands her in London. She kind of has a "poor me Vibe" that I didn't love, because she was a grown up, but putting that aside, she was ok.

Firefighter Grant Powers, recently got divorced. He is selling his Miami home to move back to his family's farm in NY. He is done with city life. At his friend's wedding he hooks up with Niki. It was supposed to be a one night stand, until his friend asks is Niki can stay with him while she is looking for somewhere to live (again.... kind of sad a grown women is treated and acts like a child). He agrees and one night turns into love.... with some bumps along the way to happiness.

Niki Hamilton has what she thinks was going to be a one night stand at her sister’s wedding, with firefighter Grant Power’s. Afterwards she finds out that the place she was staying is being sold and by having no where to stay because she does not want to impose on her sister. She agrees to move in with Grant who has spare bedrooms after his divorce. Grant is still trying to recover from his divorce from his wife who had an affair with her boss. Now is dealing with Niki who is working for a man who does not sound very nice but she wants the job because he keeps throwing her a bone at working in London. She has always wanted to travel and she feels that this is her opportunity. Now as the time between them in his home drags on she is beginning to see what life could be with Grant and after going to his families’ farm in upstate New York she is really liking what she sees. When Grant goes to the club one night he believes he sees her kissing the boss and bringing up old thoughts he kicks in gear of selling his home and moving away, for that is what she is doing anyway. When Niki finds out what he say she now puts in motion a plan to see if she can catch her a fire, so her fireman can put it out. I really liked this story and the characters. Another great story from Wynter Daniels, the more I read the deeper I fell into this story.

Niki, dumped via text by her now ex the day her sister is getting married, dressed in what she describes at best flamingo look, she may very well blend into the locale which is Miami. She's just started a new job and her boss is a real jerk, and will soon find out she has no place to live. She's living at her sisters condo while it's up for sale until she can find another job. The hitch here is that giddy beyond belief the happy couple make an announcement that the condo has sold and Niki has two weeks to get out. And no place to go. So in her sister's need to "fix" and the new husband going right along problem solving for Niki, they talk to Grant, Joel's firefighting best man and since Grant's house in for sale and he has an extra room, he's slowly sucked into agreeing Niki can stay there. They're both resistant to the idea
Grant is still extremely gun shy and bitter after moving to Miami with his wife because of her career, leaving his job, friends and family and the only life he's ever known to move to Miami and he hates it.
That's why the house is for sale, he wants to return to his family's farm to help his parents.
He and Niki seem to get along quite well, their love of old movies and much in common, but he holds back especially where his ex is concerned. Grant resents the way Niki's boss treats her and dangles the carrot of something more in front of her. Grant takes Niki up to his parents for the grandparents 60th anniversary when Niki is called home the day before the party which she helped plan. She's good at what she does. When she arrives she discovers her boss didn't need her at all. But the carrot still dangles.
Grant decides to lower the selling price in hopes of selling sooner and Niki doesn't know until the real estate agent tells her. This leads to all sorts of crazy thinking and then when his beloved cat runs out the front door, her world goes to hell.
It's a great story that has two people stuck in their own mindsets who finally meet in the middle. Middle of what? You have to read the book to find out. Grant is dreamy and I liked Niki.
Put this one on your TBR list!

Niki and Grant met right before her sister's wedding when Niki crashed into Grant. Niki had just come out of a relationship and Grant had just gotten divorced, all they both wanted to do was have a HOT one night stand. They didn't realize that they were going to run into each other the day after. Niki lives with her sister while she was finishing school, she finds out that her sister sold her house to a developer and she has no where to live. Lucy's husband decides to pay rent to Grant to store his files in his spare room and suggests to Grant that Niki can stay with him until the house sells. Will they be able to keep it platonic? You will have to read to find out! Grant is a farm boy through and through and had just moved to Miami, FL for his now ex-wife's job. Now that he is divorced his plan is to move back to his families farm to help his aging parents and grandparents. Niki has a job at a night club with a sleazy boss named Tristan. If she succeeds in running the club in Miami, she would get to open his club in London.
One of the reasons that I didn't give it 5-stars is the title, it doesn't really tell you what to expect in the book. This my first book that I have read of Wynter Daniels and it won't be the last!
Thank you to Netgallery for the advanced readers copy for an honest review. This didn't affect my opinion of this book in anyway.

I loved how both character where trying to figure life out and how the other could fit into their life.
Niki is fresh out of college working her dream job, with an amazing chance to move out of the country (to London) to start fresh. At her sisters wedding a steamy one night stand turns into more. When the Best man (and the guy she slept with) takes her in right after she is basiclly asked to move out. Things are great and akward, but both start to fall for each others. Life happens and things get conffused, soon Niki is off to London and Grant is off to New York. Can these two figure out their crazy lives and come together to live happly ever after?

‘The Best Man’s Proposal’ doesn’t quite seem like a title that would fit the blurb at all. Nonetheless, the premise—of life pulling people in 2 different directions and the compromises needed to close those 2 opposing ends—sounded interesting enough for me to put in a request for it. But not having read the first book, I didn’t quite know of any history between Grant and Niki and there are hints that something else had happened in the prequel for this story to begin with the morning after walk of shame that ended up as a forced-roommate situation.

Admittedly, it did take me a while to get into the book as there was quite a fair bit of repetition from the start: the best sex of Niki’s life, her inability to stop noticing how hot Grant’s body is, her inability to think when he was near. She did come across as a disaster at times: insensitive, self-absorbed, presumptuous about the way Grant might think and also too much of a damsel in distress who can’t seem to handle herself without needing Grant to come to her rescue. In fact, Niki didn’t seem to know what she really wanted except to go to Europe and live in London, to the extent where she did nearly everything that her manager dangled in front of her—with the London job as bait—while treating her like crap. That she finally grew a spine towards the end redeemed her a mite bit for all the indecision that plagued her.

Apart from an undeniable attraction, I couldn’t find very much that would make Grant and Niki an equal (let alone well-suited) pairing, the differing maturity levels being the most glaring point for me along with their contrasting living preferences. But this perhaps also has to do with the fact that I liked Grant a lot more than I liked Niki which clearly affects my rating of the book. Grant’s sweetness towards his geriatric cat was adorable though (cats are my weak spot; men with cats slay me) and to be absolutely unfair, that shot him up in my esteem immediately.

In short, it wasn’t quite a story that resonated with me, particularly when a protagonist stood out more than the other. I only wished I enjoyed it much more than I did, especially since the only mental takeaway I have here is a picture of Grant with his beloved Orange cat.

This book has mostly mild cursing (one single f-bomb) and one on-screen sex scene that is short enough that it could be skipped over easily. If those things will cause you to leave a negative review, you might want to skip this one.

This was my first book by Wynter Daniels and although I wasn't really sure about the premise, I was very impressed that this story was so character-driven. While Grant and Niki had a ton of chemistry, Ms. Daniels wrote this with a ton of smolder without it turning into a giant sex-fest that would have sacrificed the story or character development. I loved that the calamity, the humor, and the drama were really well balanced. And Grant was the perfect book boyfriend – his relationship with Sarge was literally the big fat cherry on a very sexy, very perfect sundae. I loved him.

If you enjoy a love story that starts out in an unconventional way but that ends in the best way possible with a bunch of laughs and some angst along the way, you will enjoy this book. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley and the publisher. I was under no obligation to write this review, I did so because I enjoyed the story.

OMG what can I say, except I loved every minute of this new book The Best Man's Proposal by Wynter Daniels. So much so, that once I started, I did not put it down, leaving my poor husband to get the dinner that night, so I could indulge. Right before her sisters wedding Niki gets a text from her boyfriend dumping her, so what does she do? Has the most fabulous night of pleasure with the best man Grant. Both swear it will never happen again, since neither one want a relationship. Yet, fate has other decisions, with Niki losing her place to live and Grant offering to share his house with her until he sells it. Reluctantly she agrees and now both of them must deal with this strong mutual attraction. With funny moments, touching moments and lots of sexual tension, you'll love it from start to end.

How romantic and sexy. Fighting attraction isn't always what it is cracked up to be. When you meet some one that has goals that are different than yours what do you do? Do you change your goals or do you realize those goals you had are actually not what you want. Grant and Niki meet and when they do is it fate, destiny, or disaster?

First off I want to say this book kept me mesmerized. The electricity between this couple was mind blowing.

A night that was to be only one night turns into so much more for Niki and Grant.

Between broken hearts, a divorce, a new job prospect, aging parents, a trip to London how in the world will this couple who didn't want a relationship manage?

Does Niki stand a chance at getting what she wants?
Well grab your copy and find out.

Grant knows how to wow a woman and leave her speechless, “I need my fix of you more than anything.” He lifted her off her feet and gave her a proper kiss. When he finally set her on her feet, her lips were red, and she wore a dazed expression." I liked this book, I fell in love with Grant.

Technology sucks. Well, at least it does when your boyfriend breaks up with you via text. Yeah, the move to Europe to be with him is definitely off. Niki is nkw dateless, as the jerk chose right before her sister's wedding to do this. What's that saying? Get over one by getting under someone else? Niki is making that her motto for the night, and she's found just the sexy man to join her.

Grant, a recently firefighter, has been hurt by love and decides it's easier to just avoid it. But, when your best friend's new sister-in-law falls into your arms, and you share an explosive night together, one you'd both agreed was just that...you realize how right everything felt with her and decide maybe you've just now found the one.

When Niki is homeless due to a mistake, Grant surprises both of them when he offers his guest room while she looks for another place. Oh man, the sexual heat is still there, and now they're essentially living together..how long will they be able to resist what they both want?

Can these two, both hurt by someone that claimed to love them, risk their hearts again? Will they realize they didn't belong with anyone but each other? Is there a HEA in their future?

One-click now and follow along as Grant and Niki must decide what's more important...protecting their hearts, or possibly getting everything they've always wanted.

This is my third Entangled book since I became a reviewer for them, and I have to say, I was disappointed. The premise sounded interesting enough - Niki needs a place to stay, Grant has an extra bedroom in his house, they hooked up at her sister's wedding, CAN THEY STAY PLATONIC?! But I didn't feel like the book delivered like I hoped it would.

I think part of the problem is how much I disliked Niki. We are in her head about half the time, so not liking the POV of roughly half the book is a problem. She was wishy-washy, and whiney, and had no spine to speak of until she met Sandi at the very end of the book. I wanted better for Grant, who just loved his cat so much. That part was adorable, haha. Anyway, Niki wasn't great, but Grant was a good love interest.

I didn't love this book, but I didn't hate it either. I'd still pick up other books by this author in the future.

Thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion in any way. Full review to come on my blog.

Niki Hamilton thought she finally had things going her way and then her boyfriend dumps her just before her sister Lucy's wedding. Then she finds out she's losing the place where she is living. What else can happen and what is a women to do? Well she's offered the opportunity to roommate with the grooms best man, Grant Powers, who happens to be a gorgeous firefighter. He's recently divorced and is putting his house up for sale but she would have a place to stay for a couple of months until she can afford to get her own. They are both sexually attracted to each other and since they are not looking for a permanent relationship, what could a one night stand hurt. Hmmm~~~~

What a great love story with great characters which also includes Sarge, the cat! A must read and I highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I absolutely adored Grant! What a beautiful, wonderful, charming, and sexy firefighting man! Niki is a fierce little spitfire who needs more confidence in herself and her abilities, but otherwise rocks. Niki and Grant enjoy one amazing night together with no strings after her sister's wedding after she is unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend via text. The next day, she finds that Grant is now her short-term roommate. Can they fight their attraction, even as they chase completely different goals? The story evolves with just enough tension and twists to keep you on you toes and guessing. Great characters and storyline, and Grant's backstory is simply heartbreaking. You just can keep but fall in love with this misplaced country boy!

This was such a sweet, sassy and fun story! I loved how the characters dealt with life situations with fun and some sass. Nikki, the female lead is not looking for any relationship after her cheating boyfriend dumps her via text just hours before her sisters wedding. After his divorce Grant is not looking for a new relationship. When Grant is best man for his friend, Dex, he ends up in bed with the maid of honor, Nikki. Get this book to find what happens when these two, become roommates. Will they fight their attraction??
