This is a free kindle book, so I didn't expect it to be amazing, but it actually wasn't too bad. It entertained me for a night and the romance was kinda good. I mean, the MC wasn't an amazingly written character, and she had some personality issues and kind of annoyed me, but she was ok for a quick read and I enjoyed the storyline. Plus there was humour that I enjoyed, so that was nice. I might continue the series for some fun, or it might just be one of those series that I say I'll continue and then never do.

Anyway, thanks to the author and Amazon kindle for the free, easy read!

The audiobook was free so I thought, why not?

And it was actually good, the narration. In a few places the transition between the voices wasn't the best and if I wasn't entirely focused, I couldn't tell which of the Guardians was speaking aside from Ark.

The first chapter was extremely good and had me hooked. Then it started to decline a bit.

I wasn't very attached to the plot, maybe a little at the beginning, but afterwards their journey just dragged on and I felt like they made a lot of unnecessary stops along the way.

I didn't feel any chemistry between Winter and the Guardians, I don't even have a favourite. All four of them were too similar to each other.

The one thing I'm the maddest about is the lack of steam. I would be willing to forgive the no chemistry thing if only we got some good action...but instead there's only one scene and the rest is crumbs.

Aside from that, Winter comes into her powers too quickly. Okay though, she's a demi-goddess, I'll let it slide. This time.

And that demon fight was so disappointing, I couldn't wait for it to be over...

It's the things that happened throughout the book that made me lose the will to continue the series. When I started I was sure I'd want more from the world, but now...it really makes me sad.

I'm not saying I'll never pick it up again, I might, but for now I've had enough.

P.S. I will say that there's something addictive about it that made me want to listen more and push through.

The reason why I rated this book 4 stars if for many reasons. I love the series and I will have to check out the rest of the series. I loved everything about this book from the beginning to the end. I have never read any of Skye Mackinnion book so I was not sure what her writing was going to be like, but while reading this I do not regret picking up this book. I can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the series. I would read this book more than once. I would recommend this book to anyone.

*insert a ridiculously amount of emphasis* HO - LEE - SHIT! *tone said ridiculous emphasis down just a notch*

This book! I never knew how into reverse harem I was. But damn! This book was hot and sexy but also action packed and adventurous!

I started out reading this story by reading the episodes. I read through the first two episodes until I realized they were put into one novel. So my reviews of the episodes were only 4 stars because I was so upset at having to read them and review them separately. But now that I found this wonderful piece of work! I MUST give it 5 stars!

I read it because I wanted a shit ton of smut. (Yeah, I'm not ashamed!) And while most of it was just hot kissing and touching, I absolutely loved the soft smut of this book. And the sex scene. Well damn. Entirely too sexy!

And then the story line. It was also what made me want more of the book when I was reading the episodes. Because I thought they'd end after the 5. (I'm still internally screaming and doing a happy dance when I found out there was going to be a second book! And it's coming out in February! Less than two months away?! SCORE!) I knew just after reading the first two episodes that there could be more to the story. It is well written, in my opinion.

I seriously seriously enjoyed reading this. And have now found a new type of book I'm in to. Reverse harem FTW! :D

3 out of 5 stars 🌟

It was okey😶. I didn’t like it, but I didn’t hate it either. To me, it was average with some funny moments.

Things I liked: The author’s use of mythology, and how she added her own little twist to it. This made the book a little more enjoyable, along with some of the humorous banter Wyn had with her guardians (I laughed at some of it🤣).

Things I didn’t like: The fact that Wyn mastered her magical abilities too quickly. Realistically, it should have taken her months to get at least a handle on some of her abilities. Also, the fight scene with the demons felt mediocre. Wyn literally had one day of training and now all of a sudden she can fight like a pro 😓.

While the book did have some cringe worthy moments, I’m still interested in reading the second book and see how the story goes (now that Wyn is in the Realm of the Gods).

63% - I tried to give this book a chance. Over a course of several days, which I don't do. But because I kept on thinking may be its my mood. Also I did want to see what happens to Wyn when she is reunited with her mother but, I guess I will just have to fanfiction that ending in my head. At this point, I don't think I can stand the stupidity of the current premise. I was willing to suspend my believe when the guardians said they will prepare her for a battle with a horde of demons in less than 24 hours. This girl, whose magic keeps on flaring up and causing major disasters. But reading through the actual tests or training sessions left me even more huh... That's all I can take.

Not for me

This one is hard for me to rate, I kinda liked it, but didnt? I know, confusing, but to be honest this book confused me. We meet wyn who is a demi goddess who is living a human life with human adoptive parents. She's turning of age and is about to go with her goddess mother in the God realm, que in 4 guys and you have the makings for this reverse harem. But although I liked the storyline, this one fell flat for me, first of all she doesn't know how to use the magic that starts to become stronger inside her, and we read about this throughout the book, but yet when she starts being under attack, she can do it with no issues? And the guys, it's even weirder, she meets them, no real attraction, no flirting what's so ever, and then bam, she's kissing and letting them touch her, there is no lead up to this, it just happens. They had zero chemistry, like zero, maybe I could see arc being capable, but the others no, I felt like this book was all over the place and rushed, I found myself flipping through the pages in the end. I was bored To no end and with it also not making much sense and wyn crying and feeling so sorry for herself. "I'm not a princess don't call me that"..to " I'm a princess and need to act like one" I cant stand characters like this. her in head battles were killing me, and I just really wanted this book to go on without her. you don't know to much about the guys, they got cool names and were made by goddess, that's about it, no real depth. Don't think I will be finishing this one guys.

What did I just read? After reading 5 stars reviews I was expecting A LOT more. I think I've read something totally different.

Basically, this first book is about going from the A place to B. Just that.

And I don't understand how the h is so laidback about being shared among the guys. I mean, it's not like she's read a lot of reverse harem books and it's normal for her, isn't it?

And the guys. I don't care about the guys. I don't feel a connection with them and I don't feel like I got to know them.

Why 2 stars instead of 1? I don't know how the author did it, but I didn't find it boring (maybe because my inner-self was already complaining about things, don't know). I read it in one sitting.

I don't know if I'm going to read the next one though.

I purchased the e-book format of the Winter Princess in September of this year because there was mention of magic and demi goddesses. To be honest, I never read further than those two words so I did not know that this was classified as a reverse harem paranormal. It was not until the opportunity came for me to review the audio book I realised this. Therefore, I was skeptical about reading/listening to this title. Anyway, I moved past my skepticism and hoped I would have no regrets.

Now up on completion of the book I had mixed feelings about this story.

For, the first half of the book the story moved so slow that I was tempted to give up on it. However, as someone who does not give upon things easily, I stuck it out and was rewarded with a change in the pacing by the second half of the story. Despite the change in the pace, I had a few issues. We see Wyn learning to use her magic and fighting demonic forces. The fight scenes were decent but not memorable. For someone who recently came into her powers she learned to use them quick, which I had a hard time wrapping my head around. Bearing in mind, she had several abilities and in less than a day, she learned how to use them. Then for someone who has no training as a fighter she was a pro on the battlefield.

At first, I had a hard time liking Wyn but the more time I spent with her I found myself drawn to her. Wyn is demi-goddess who does not understand the great power she would come to wield when she hit her 22nd birthday. Raised by her human adoptive parents she knew of her magical powers, but what she did not know was that those powers would grow making her a powerful being. She did not have a relationship with her birth mother, the winter queen and she lived for the day when all this would change. Now that she has attained the age of 22 she may get her wish as her mother has sent for to enter the God realm and she would have four gorgeous guardians as escorts.

Unfortunately, these guardians did nothing for me. I am still trying to figure out what was their purpose in the story. They never seem to be around whenever their charge is in danger. I never had the opportunity to know the guardians and so I did not know what made them tick. They had no chemistry between them but somehow they were attracted to each other. Their moments of intimacy, which, thankfully were few (they made me cringe) felt forced and unrealistic due to their lack of chemistry.

I must admit I am curious to discover why her mother had left Wyn to be raised by humans. There were other intriguing events occurring that have me considering continuing the series as I am curious to know how these would unfold.

Narration
I had a few issues with the narration. When it came to Wyn’s voice, I thought she did a good job for the most part. However, the switch between Wyn;s voice and those of her guardians was not seamlessly done. There were times when the distinction between Wyn’s voice and that of a guardian was not identifiable. This mostly happens when Wyn speaks immediately after a guardian. Despite this, I found that the narration contributed to me sticking with the story even with the issues I encountered.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, although not a favourite I am willing to continue the series as I found the world intriguing and I am curious to know how the story unfolds. I believe this story could do without the romantic element, as it adds no value to the story

23% DNF "spoiler alert"

This book had potential to be a good reading experience up until some specific situation that I can't just let pass and that's when Forest rescued Wyn from drowning in the sea and Storm "ordered" her to strip because she was freezing ..let me be more clear he ordered her a girl who lived with humans all her life to strip naked in front of him and three other guys while one of them strips as well .. so she said no repeatedly I might add , so what did they do?!!!!!!... they striped her forcefully
So lets say that Storm had good intention and all , I could have even let that pass (with struggle because there was many other options than this ) but no ,they ganged on her one groping her and two watching (so they didn't even respect her wishes and crossed the line of protecting her from freezing to death ) all that and they only new each other for a couple of days and they were supposed to be her guardians which they did an awful job at it by the way .
At this point I couldn't continue but I decided to give the Writer the benefit of the doubt and continued to read to see what the heroine reaction will be Will she be mad ?! Will she but them in there place ?! but nooooooooo that's not what happen the heroine was peachy like it was the normal .
so yeah I couldn't finish that book sorry I WILL NOT SEE THAT AS SEXY that's not sexy that's manhandling and I'm not okay with that .

I enjoyed this book; it's a good beginning to a unique storyline. The narrator did a good job performing the story. At times, I was a little bothered by her voice when she was reading, but she did a great job with the Scottish accent of Arc (one of Wyn's guardians). I occasionally got annoyed with Wyn's character and how immature some of her inner dialogue was, but I hope she will grow as the series continues. I was really intrigued with the storyline and the inclusion of various mythological characters. The majority of the book revolves around Wyn and her four guardians traveling to Beira's realm after Wyn's 22nd birthday. We also see Wyn and her guardians trying to learn how to cope with Wyn's powers and the developing relationship between them. The story is solely in Wyn's POV, with the exception of the epilogue. The book doesn't end in a cliffhanger, but the author does a good job of ending the book in a way that makes the reader eager to see how the story is going to progress and how the characters will deal with the next set of conflicts/obstacles. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Great World Building

Book one in a brand new series and it's off to a great start. We get meet Wynter the daughter of the Queen who is a Goddess. This gives Wyn some awesome powers though she must reach a certain birthday to get them all but man is it life changing for her when they do. Four guardians show up to escort her to her mom with a one problem after the other along the journey. The world was just awesome and I love all the main characters already. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

First charter was included in the RH advent calendar 2020 and I thought the story showed promise. The FMC appeared realistic and willful and the her demi-goddess status was intriguing. Unfortunately the full book was somewhat of a let down. The FMC was all over the place and the guys lacked personality. Their relationships were portrayed as deep and soul connections, yet the neither their actions nor the plot supported that claim, making the romance in this book unsatisfactory.

I love reverse harems and this book was no exception. It was steamy, adventurous, exciting, and a little funny too. It broght out plenty of emotions in my that I was not expecting. I love sexy reads and this book did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the characters Wyn and her sexy men in addition to all the adventure they had to go through. I have not read the rest of the books in this series and now they are definitely going on my TBR immediately. I really enjoy the flow of Skye Mackinnon's stories and the little funny parts in them as well. Add to that the steam and, oh boy, it's all over for me. Great read and can't wait to read more!

Enjoyed the Book

It is quite a journey for Wyn. She is finally coming into her magic and meeting her mother again. Four guardians are set to protect her but the bonds grow stronger and more intimate.

It is well written and full of adventure and surprises. I enjoyed the first part of the story and would love to learn more

No.
I just couldn't with this audiobook. The tone of the narrator ruined an already struggling story. It just didn't fit. All breathy and almost too youthful for the story.
Add in a story that doesn't make sense and tries too hard and for a supposed goddess older than time, she was pretty darn stupid. I dunno. Just not my bag I guess.

Stopped reading…

24% in is essentially a rape/sexual assault/gang bang scene and I had to stop. Well, it’s not supposed to be, it’s supposed to be sexy banter. But when 4 guys forcibly remove a woman’s clothing — a woman who repeatedly asks them to leave so she could change on her own and seems able to, are making sexual innuendos throughout, are copping feels — that’s assault. Add to the fact that she is vulnerable and weak and experiencing signs of shock makes this worse. I had to stop reading this because I could no longer follow the path the author wished me to take. If they get punished or are at least called out for their atrocious behaviour, that’s another thing, but I doubt thathappens.

Also, these guys are pretty bad at their jobs as Guardians if arrive a couple of hours late in their first day, they are happy to keep their target in ignorance over their situation and her magic, and have barely managed to keep her alive thrice within 2 days. And guys who constantly condescend to and neg me usually look uglier, not hotter. And they blame HER, not their own incompetence, for getting kidnapped — then congratulate themselves for finding her “quickly” instead of congratulating her for saving herself, puh-leez!!!

There are many better stories out there that are similar and don’t promote dangerous ideals. Choose one of those.

I read this book as a serial and now it's combined into one awesome book! Wyn is an ordinary girl, or so she believes, but strange things start happening in her birthday and she winds up with four hot guardians who have come to take her home

The story is awesome, well written and has plenty of humour and snark from our intrepid heroine and her four gorgeous as sin guardians. There is romance, loss, excitement and danger.

This is such an enjoyable read, I have read it more than once, the mix of all the different emotions this book provokes just works incredibly well and I can do nothing but recommend it highly and keep reading it again and again

The Winter Princess is a great start into the series and I enjoyed reading it. It has drama, action, romance, and not to forget the humor:
"I am the prettiest Guardian in the Realms."
"Ignore him," Crispin chimes in. "I won that title three times in a row."
"Because your God organized it!"

Wyn is the daughter of the Goddess Winter and was raised by a human family until she comes into her powers and is invited by her mother to visit her realm. She is accompanied by four hot guardians who have different powers and traits.

I didn't give five stars because the relationship between the guys and Wyn seemed a little bit rushed. It started slow and I really liked it that way, kisses here and there. However, at some point, it was a little too much too quickly. The heroine was nearly only thinking about sex -even during battle. Also, she I thought it was weird that she wasn't too concerned about her murdering demons and her bloodlust/magiclust after she arrived in the realm. During those events, she was pretty freaked, thought about it a little afterward but then seemed to have forgotten about it.

I don't know if this was Meh because the audio version was lackluster or the story was just okay.
The audiobook had 1 narrator and her voice and mannerisms didn't match the FMCs personality.
All four guys had Scottish accents so there really was no variation between their voices and honestly, I would be amazed if anyone could master that level of voice conversion. It would be quite a talent for a woman (or man, this happened to be a female narrator) to not only fake a male Scottish brogue but also be able to articulate between four separate individuals. She did a really good male Scottish brogue I just couldn't tell any of the 4 guys apart.

Wynter is a demigoddess that has just awakened her magic, with it, she gets four guardians, Frost, Storm, Arc, and Crispin. Along the way they train her to use her magic safely, while others keep attempting to kill her, and Wynter is trying to resist the bond forming between her and her guardians. This has great world building, a mystery, suspense and a start of a why choose romance. I am looking forward to the next book!.

This one is intriguing - Wyn is a demigoddess that doesn't know how to use her own powers.
What will happen when her powers will manifest? A horrible thing. Suddenly 4 handsome men appear and help her - who are they?
Join Wyn in her travel to the Queen of Winter - her journey will be full of misguided magic, sexy situations, and thoughts.
It would be 5 stars read if it wasn't exactly going from A to all the time.
