Cam has always known who his fated mate was. Unfortunately, not even his beta wolf status made life any easier, living with the knowledge his alpha mate rejected him. His work with Ranger kept him busy, but now Ranger was mated to the sweet Aiden, finding things to do so his wolf wouldn't go hunting the man they both wanted was getting more difficult by the day.

Levi was an assassin. He made no apology for who he was or how he lived. Yes, he knew he had a mate. Yes, there were a lot of good reasons for claiming him. But the two reasons why he shouldn't, kept Levi away. When Ranger gets in touch and lets him know that things are changing on the council, and he's found the assassins a place to call home, Levi can't resist answering the call.

Territory and power are everything to shifters and having all four assassins living in the Northern States pack brings problems from outside. In town, not all of the locals are as keen with their new Alpha either and yet, somehow, in the muddle, Levi and Cam must find a way to be together. Because sharing the same house, no matter how big it is, makes anything else unbearable.

Warning: Normal warnings about this being a men loving men book apply. If this doesn't appeal, please don't buy this.

Cam's Promise
By Lee Oliver

Really disappointing compared to her usual work.

I only have one continual complaint about some of Lee Oliver/Lisa Oliver's books and it definitely applies to this book. Most of them have a storyline where one MC betrays the other or emotionally hurts them so badly it pretty much scars them for life.

It never fails to leave me feeling underwhelmed when the MC in the right simply forgives the MC who caused all the pain in 5 minutes or less or in a paragraph or 2. In this case it was less than 5 minutes and Cam literally jumped Levi's bones. Levi caused Cam YEARS of emotional distress. He needs to work hard at gaining Cam's trust again and proving he's a changed man. Not simply be forgiven.

This has happened in several of her books. The books where she treats the betrayals as they are deserved and it takes some time to work through it all are the best of her books.

The book is in both Cam and Levi's POV. The angst level is high.

I love this series. I really loved Cam and Levi as the main characters. Cam especially. He was such a caring person and had a really great heart. I also found Levi an interesting character. I can't go into many details, but I liked the way the author approached his character and one of the reasons he refused to claim Cam was particularly interesting.

The story itself was good. I will be interested to see where the conflict between the Northern States pack and the Shifter Counsel ends up. The ending sets up the next book in the series and I am looking forward to reading it. Although shorter than most of her series, this book is a good length and tells a complete story. I didn't feel cheated in any way.

I would highly recommend this book and this series as a whole. I do think it would be helpful to read the first book in the series prior to reading this one.

Good addition

3.75 stars

Good addition to this series. I liked Cam and Levi together.
I like shifter stories but they also get away with some things that I wouldn't like in other scenarios, like the whole leave your mate but return and everything is forgiven quickly because of them mate status. Like I said I like shifter stories so this accepted because it is a shifter story, I just think while I could understand Levi's reasons, Cam forgave him too quickly.
I liked that Cam held his own and Levi while feeling protective let him fight his own battles.
I'm really looking forward to Sean's and Kyle's story, I was hoping Kyle would get story when he was introduced, so bonus its next in line, can't wait

If one of the MC's is going to act like a complete jerk and hurt the other than I want them to have to work for forgiveness. The fact that Cam forgave Levi within 5 minutes of being reunited basically ruined the story for me. Levi had no repercussions from the way he treated Cam and honestly I just couldn't buy Cam trusting him with his heart that easily after the way he'd been treated. If you are looking for a very sweet book with two MC's that basically have no conflict then you might enjoy this one.

Cam's book

Levi and Cam have quite a bit of baggage to deal with. This is another good book by Lee Oliver with an interesting twist and lead in to the next book.

This is a sweet M/M Shifters romance with a different plot than a lot of other shifter books. Cam and Levi have known they are mate's for many years, but Levi asked cam to not act on it or tell anyone about it. So even though it almost killed Cam, he did what his mate wished and kept up his player ways so no one would know any different.

It is a quick read with not too much drama and perfects if you need a book to take your mind away from reality. But I will say I felt like it went a little quick at some points and that Cam did forgive Levi way to fast and didn't do anything to make Levi see how much he had hurt him.

This is a book written by Lisa Oliver but under a different name so if you know about her you know she always delivers on the alpha men and the gay romance.

4 Hearts

This is a fun new shifter series. These books are short and blend together so while you could read this as a standalone, I don’t recommend it because you won’t get a lot of what’s going on.

We met Cam in the first book as the beta wolf who was Ranger’s second and best friend. Cam was known as the wolf to go to for a one night stand and one to definitely remember. From book one you would think Cam is nothing but a walking dick ready to be buried in a hot piece of ass. That is SO not the case.

We know of Levi from Ranger’s book as he is one of only four assassins who work for the shifter council. Levi has been absent only coming around when there is a job to do. And yet, we learn in the epilogue of Ranger’s book that Levi is Cam’s true mate and Cam has been claimed already. Yeah. WTF it up right now folks because I was all WTF before I even started this.

Told from both POV of our true mates, we know that 9 months ago there was a claiming and that 9 months ago Levi broke Cam’s heart by walking away from him and making him promise not to tell anyone what happened. As a girl who loves her true/fated mate stories, my heart hurt like hell thinking of what Cam was going through. Knowing in this series that true mates can only get it up for their mates made me scratch my head at the lengths Cam goes through to keep his promise and made me pissed off at Levi.

Ugh. Levi. Dude. How could you string Cam along for years knowing you were true mates? How could you claim him that way and not finish what you started? How could you and your wolf just walk away from Cam like that? Well, I know why because you tell us you are a bit different but thankfully we get your POV so we know it was hell to be apart from you as well. It was tough but you deserve tougher.

So anyway. They mated, they have been apart and now Ranger has called all his assassin brothers to be part of his pack with his Alpha and true mate Aiden. When Cam finds out Levi is coming he freaks and tries to leave but Levi shows up early and decides he finally wants what is his. I will say the reunion with Cam and Levi was hot and I get how it’s so easily resolved because they are shifters but I really wish Cam wouldn’t have rolled over so easy.
Levi has a secret and it’s partly what kept him away from Cam. No one knew about it (and I won’t tell) but now that Cam knows and accepts Levi in every way, Levi is free to love and he turns into one hell of an Alpha for his beta mate.

Wow. There was a lot in this book and it was short on length. I adore the hell out of Cam. I love Levi but boy is his freaking head crowded. I dug that we got more of Ranger and Aiden, Marcus and Shadow and even the small bit we get of Sean.

The council and all their fuckery with trying to get their assassins back called for some Tarantino action via wolf assassins. I can’t wait for the council to get their asses handed to them. The new line of enforcers for the Northern States Pack just got themselves one hell of a trainer and I wonder if he will find his true mate among them.

But really. I am so freaking fracking excited about the next book because I knew, I KNEW when we met a certain someone he would be Sean’s true mate and holy fuck balls, I was right. Go me.

This was just another short and sexy installment to this series. I am hooked on these wolves and their true mates and definitely want more.

Bravo

This book is simply wonderful. I was hooked on the premise of a secret mate upon reading the epilogue of Ranger's story. The way that premise is developed into a layered, thoughtful story is pretty impressive. I can't stress enough that this is a book that should absolutely be read soon, repeatedly, and often. It didn't need to rely on a specific stressor or tragedy to carry it along. Sure it has a surrounding plot regarding an ongoing storyline but the relationship itself was center stage, shining in the spotlight . And this is me applauding with a standing ovation at the curtain call. Bravo!

I enjoy this author when I’m looking for escapist paranormal reads that feature uber-strong alpha characters with strong but caring mates. It’s a nice combination of “fluffy” extremely tough, deadly, military fighting males and the only slightly less combative but a bit less rough around the edges fated mates who balance them. There’s usually a combination of over-the-top strength, political intrigue, aww-shucks male/male romance, and some man-on-man action.

I love the fact that this author always has some nicely reciprocal (top/bottoming) action no matter the disparity in outward character role, and almost always has some decent heat in the explicit scenes.

Levi was an ass and didn’t deserve Cam. Cam was way more forgiving than me. Levi needed to grovel for all the pain that he put Cam through. Loved Newton

A love denied

Another fast and engaging book in this series that this time dealt with already paired mates who have been separated by the assassin job and a fear of change. Now that bigger changes have happened, that relationship can come to light, if both men will let it.

Cam was presented in the first book as a free spirit, good for one night with anyone, and having a legendary sexual prowess. It turns out that has been a lie as instead he has been knowing who his mate is and wanting him, but unable to have him or even be with anyone else. Cam is loyal as hell and when he pro!used not to tell anyone that assassin Levi is his mate he kept that promise, and will continue to even as it breaks his heart. But Levi is coming to live with Ranger, along with all the assassins. Not wanting to break his promise Cam tries to leave, but Levi gets there first and it turns out he wants Cam now. First Levi has to get Cam past the betrayal of leaving- and Ranger too.

Cam is strong and deadly on his own, just like any of the assassins, but has been overlooked simply for being a beta. He can hold the position of second, defend the pack, and watch a man's six, but he has always been looked past. With his fun loving exterior he was hiding a playful but romantic side, one he kept locked away without his mate. Watching that come out was lovely, even while he still kicked butt with the best of them.

Levi has some major insecurities. He never really had any family except the assassins so he thought mating Cam would ruin that. Also, Levi reasoned out that taking Cam away from Ranger would hurt Ranger, while bringing Cam into an undesirable life as Levi's mate. Really, these things made no sense, but until everything changed he couldn't see that. Levi had to woo Cam, but he also had to learn to see a life with the other man. One where they could be equals and Cam could hold his own. It was an adjustment for him in many ways in the book but he took it well.

There are stirrings of trouble with the Council in this book, implying that there will be something coming in the next book. Love is making the assassins stronger, not weaker, and it has others afraid. Very curious to see where this will go!

Cam has found his mate and has been claimed as well. But his mate leaves and has him make a promise, one he has kept for years. But now that his mate is coming home will he be able to keep their secret?

Cam’s Promise by Lee Oliver is second in the Northern States series. I enjoyed this story by Ms. Oliver. Cam is a beta. He is strong but kind wolf. He has protected his mate even though it is painful. Levi is also protecting his mate. Only problem…he is the only one aware of that fact. I enjoyed seeing Cam finally find happiness. He has done whatever was necessary but when his mate returns he knows his endurance is at its end. I love that Levi knows what extracting that promise cost him but now he sees firsthand what it cost Cam. I love that Ms. Oliver made sure Levi appreciated the pain he cost and made sure he worked to rectify his mistake. I loved seeing the sense of family between the assassins. They were brothers in their hearts and determined to protect the home they found. This story was enjoyable. It was full of laughter and love, respect and loyalty. And I can’t wait to see where Ms. Oliver will take us next in this world.

Two books in two days from Lisa, we've been spoilt.

I enjoyed the first book in the series and getting a beat on Cam.

He's a lovely beta with the usual characteristics that they are known for as told by Lisa/Lee.

Levi on the other hand was an unknown quantity and came across as cold and unfeeling having decided not to take his mate.

In this book things have moved along since Ranger and Aiden mated and settled into pack life. Things aren't perfect but they are righting the many wrongs.

The remaining assassins agree to join the pack as enforcers with particular responsibility for Aiden's safety.

This brings Levi back to Cam who kept his promise and told no one not even Ranger about them.

I like how Lee wrote such a strong character for Levi with three elements to his nature.

There is a lot in this to entertain and it also has the strong element of a corrupt and decidedly untrustworthy council, just as with the Cloverleah series.

I expect that will be a strong theme in the next book.

Read, enjoyed and looking forward to more!

Mm shifter romance

Cam made a promise to Levi, a shifter council assassin to not tell anyone that they were mates. Cam has been suffering from the separation for several months, while Levi is affected but less so while he continues his work. Levi and two other assassins all come together at the Northern States Pack to visit the couple from the previous book. Two problems need to be settled, first the true mating of Cam and Levi and the discovery of Levi's secret. Secondly the corruption of the shifter council. The new Alpha of the pack and his Alpha Mate, the fourth of the shifter assassins, are working hard to clean up the problems left by the previous alpha. There is a lot going in in this book. It is all exciting and I don't want to give it all away. It is an excellent read with a HEA for Cam and Levi but a teaser for the next book. Buy this book!

Love it, like a TV series, must read the next episode!

I love these short stories and hate them - it's like watching a much loved TV series where you love all the MCs but the evolving stories just get you ramped up for the next one.

Oh my gosh, I've loved Cam from the first book and despised Levi for treating him so badly. Levi is lucky that Cam is such a great guy! This series is ramping up with the diabolical Council in the thick of it!

Lisa/Lee Oliver I enjoy all the MCs you've written over the years and I always automatically buy your books because of the humor and your ability to make me feel so emotionally committed in your different series! You have a great talent!

I have read Lee Oliver’s books before and thoroughly enjoyed them. This one did not disappoint at all. This book is about Cam and his mate, Levi. Cam and Levi knew they were each others’ mate when they first met several years before. When they finally mated, Levi did not mark him so no one would be the wiser. Levi is an assassin and did want to drag Cam into his hectic world. But now he can retire and try to make the situation right with Cam because it has not been easy for either one of them to continue the subterfuge. But Levi has his work cut out for him to make things right for Cam as well as their friends. I am going to read the next book in this series.

Love most of this authors books

I have Kindle Unlimited so I don't buy very many books by authors that aren't in the KU program. This authors books especially the Cloverleah Pack series are my favorites in Shifter paranormal romance. I have bought most of the Cloverleah books as well as both of these in this series. The characters are great and stories are engrossing, but I'm really happy that there isn't any mpreg. Sorry but making a male character get pregnant and bear children is just taking it too far in trying to be just like hetero couples.

A great start as Alpha Aiden and Ranger return from there honeymoon taking back over Cam's duties.
I loved that way the author kept the suspense on who his mate was in the beginning chapters. Problems arise when enforcer challenges were announced. A good book to enjoy and it seems the pack mansion will get more bigger with new members. Written with both povs and a hea ending.

Cam knows who his mate is but hasn't seen him in over 3 years after a hot night.
Levi turns up at headquarters with his secrets hidden away, some to tell others to keep.

This is another fast moving addition to the series. The characters, settings, and plot are now familiar and easy to follow. It starts with the end of the previous book and takes place within days. I expected a little more time before the MCs for together, but overall, it worked with the length of the book.

A home for all is a wow

Loved this book. Another well written book about what it's like to be bound and than freed by organizations, bad decisions, and your own head and than knowing
your not alone through any of it. Another edge of seat book you can't put down. Looking very much forward to the next book.

While Levi and Cam had a rough start.. They worked their way through it.. That sneaky council is still up to something and I can't wait to see what our assassins do next... Still waiting on Sean and Kyle to tell us their story... And it's driving me nuts! Lol

I'm giving this book 3 stars because I think Cam should have made Levi work a little harder to get in his good graces. Especially since finding out he wasn't holding a torch for him all those eight years like poor Cam.

Can't wait for the next book.

Fun, quick read

I think that the second chances trope works better for this shorter format than what we got in the first book. Or maybe I just liked Cam and Levi better than Aiden and Ranger…

Another great couple

Cam an Levi had bit more more history than Ranger and Aiden and they were great together. It was interesting to learn about Levis secret and the story line were engaging.
I loved seeing all the assassins together and I really hope that Tron gets his own book
