ADAM – Book Two
Adam Tucker is a man on a mission. After failing to save a troubled teen from drowning, Adam traded being a Coast Guard rescue swimmer for the dream of starting a youth adventure camp in his hometown. Adam is willing to do whatever it takes to help other kids navigate the deep, dangerous waters of adulthood. He’s even bet his twin brother that he can finish the transformation of a boathouse into camp living quarters before the summer season puts their watersports business in full swing. But when the key to winning that bet turns out to be an interior designer who is as enigmatic as she is gorgeous, things get complicated for Adam.
With its soaring mountains and rushing river, Eagle’s Ridge is the perfect place for Jadyn McAllister to stay “off the grid” until things settle down in Miami. No one from her old life would expect her to hide out in a small town, working for cash and keeping her real name—Jane—a secret, but that’s exactly what the FBI told her to do. They also told her to trust absolutely no one, which isn’t a problem until she meets Adam. From the first moment, sparks fly and temperatures rise every time they're together. She’s determined to keep him at arm’s length and in the dark…but the more time they spend together, the more she longs to wrap her arms around him and hold him close all night long.
With her aura of secrets and her tough façade hiding a vulnerable sweetness, Jadyn calls out to the rescuer in Adam. But he learned the hard way that total honesty is the only way to live and he senses Jadyn is lying to him. But she knows the truth could risk more than her heart – it could cost her life. As the whitewater of danger swirls around them, it will take more than a strong swimmer to save them both…it will take love.
Don’t miss any of the sexy soldiers of Eagle’s Ridge in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers multi-author series!

Roxanne St. Claire is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of fifty romance and suspense novels. In addition to being a nine-time nominee and one-time winner of the prestigious RITA™ Award for the best in romance writing, Roxanne’s novels have also won the National Reader’s Choice Award for best romantic suspense four times, as well as many others industry awards. A frequent speaker and teacher on writing craft, Roxanne lives in Florida with her husband, and still attempts to run the lives of her two kids even though they’ve left the nest. She loves dogs, books, chocolate, and wine, especially all at the same time.
I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.
First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.
I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.
Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.
Adam by Roxanne St Claire was a very enjoyable read.
The storyline was well written, it was entertaining from start to end, the characters were likable, relatable and I enjoyed getting to know them and watch them fall in love.
I really enjoyed watching Adam and Jadyn / Jane come together, they both have secrets and trust issues that initially hold them back from opening themselves up. But the more time they spend together talking and getting to know each other the walls they've been hiding behind start to come down and slowly they start giving into their attraction. These two had great chemistry and totally balanced each other out. I loved them together.
Another plus was the secondary characters, they all added to the storyline and helped make this such an enjoyable read. Looking forward to reading their stories in the upcoming books.
Overall, Adam is a quick, engaging and entertaining read that will have you turning the pages late into the night and I highly recommend it.
I didn't get the first book in this series but was easily brought up to speed on the previous couple. A different author pens each book but the series ties together a group of men who have been friends or relations since they were very young.
This is Adam's story. I liked that there is a bit of mystery and intrigue happening. Jane isn't willing to give up any of her secrets. However, Adam want s to know everything about her. The build up is slow and trust comes in to play.
Overall a good read. Interesting characters and a beautiful small town setting. I will most likely read more of the series as the books are released.

2nd in a contemporary romance series, 7 Brides For 7 Soldiers, each by a different author.
The background for the friendships of the 7 go back to high school detention. They are now men returned from serving, still friends helping each other, slightly emotionally wounded. Finding a significant other helps them heal and find an everlasting love.
Adam saved many lives in his service of the Coast Guard, but the one he lost had a career ending impact. The questions Jane asked for decorating inspiration hit too close to home. But he finds himself wanting to tell her the story. And he won’t let her hide either. He wants to know her secrets and hidden pain so they can heal together.
A great romance with a touch of suspense. I really liked Jane. She was hard hitting, soft hearted, cheerful in the face of her aloneness, and generous. I did not care for Adam’s pushing to know the secrets that could have harmed her in their being revealed. A lot of emotional depth in these characters.
Adam was the exciting second book in the new 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers multi-author series. This particular romance was by Roxanne St. Claire, who threw her characters into all kinds of danger while they were falling completely and utterly in love.
I was so happy to get to read Rocki’s latest book, especially since it’s part of this incredible series which features so many big name authors. And this story had all of the elements I love in her work: passionate, genuine romance, a tight knit group of friends and family, and really interesting backstories for each character. Jadyn and Adam were two people who I connected with right away. Read More
The complexity of the story defines the characters in it, while enticing any person who is lucky enough to read it. Adam is a man with the heart of a warrior but like every fighter he carries baggage that is suffocating the essence of who is as a man. Guilt is his constant companion and responsibility is his only escape. Until he meets a woman with secrets of her own and and allure that calls to the protector in his soul. Then he becomes the hero he was meant to be. Adam is a combination of what Ms. St. Clair does best. A suspenseful temptation that forges a haunting pathway to the soul. (4.5 stars)
I really enjoyed this story. Adam wants to get the camp ready and needs help. Jadyn is the answer to his problems. A successful interior designer she seems too good to be true. Jadyn is looking to make some money while she is keeping a low profile. Their attraction is cute to watch as they learn to trust each other, hopefully this trust does not come to late. It has a cast of quirky well meaning family and friends, including Adam's siblings. I am looking forward to additional stories about his twin and friends.
The first Roxanne St Claire book i ever read was a romantic suspense. I was seriously hooked. This books takes me back to when i first fell in love with this author. The series is about 7 friends who have known each other since their time in detention in High School. All spent some time in the military. Adam and Zane Tucker are twin brothers who are running a adventure business together. Adam was a rescuer in the Coast Guard. After a rescue went bad he came home to help his brother and remodel his grandfather's boathouse for at risk kids. Jane (also known as Jayden) comes to Adam for the job of remodeling said houseboat. She's keeping some huge secrets and Adam can tell. Sparks fly immediately. I felt the click myself lol. Seriously Adam and Jane are fabulous together and Adam's family and friends are engaging and fun. There isn't a lot of suspense and action til the end but St. Claire knows how to bring it home. This is a quick read and in my opinion you'll be hooked into the series by the end wanting to know what happens next.
Adam Tucker is a former Coast Guard rescue swimmer. A failed rescue prompts him to accept his brother’s bet to transform a boathouse into a camp dormitory for troubled teens. Adam depends on an enigmatic interior designer to complete the project within the allotted time. Jadyn McAllister is not his usual type; however, her air of vulnerability arouses his rescue tendencies. Will Adam complete the boathouse before the summer season? Can he rescue Jadyn from the danger she’s in? Jadyn McAllister, also known as Jane McAllen, is in temporary hiding. She picks Eagle’s Ridge, a small military town in Washington, to disappear into. When her funds run low, Jane seeks out employment. She reluctantly agrees to help Adam Tucker transform his boathouse into a place for troubled youths. Adam’s magnetism threatens Jane’s ‘trust no one’ rule. Can Eagle’s Ridge persuade Jane to stay once the danger has passed? Or will she bring the danger to Eagle’s Ridge? Adam is such a sweetheart. He is a man haunted by a past failure that shakes his confidence. Adam is persistent and tenacious without compromising his principles or giving up on what he feels so strongly on. I like how Adam takes that traumatic experience and allows it to motivate him to make a place for troubled kids, despite the monetary expense. Jane helps him come to grips with not only his past failure but his emotional issues. But what I love about Adam is how he encourages Jane not to cover up her natural beauty with cosmetics. Jane is an easy heroine to like and relate to. She just cannot let go of the past, until Adam and Eagle’s Ridge. Jane discovers a kindred spirit in Adam. They both have abandonment and trust issues due to their mothers. I like the process Jane undergoes with each place she decorates. Instead of throwing money around, she prefers to adhere to the room or place’s personality and release its voice. But, what I like most about Jane is how enchanted she becomes to Eagle’s Ridge and its rustic charms. ADAM is book two in a multi-author collaborative series, 7 BRIDES FOR 7 SOLDIERS. This story can be read alone. The characters from the other six books either make an appearance or are mentioned. Unfortunately, I have not read the other six stories. ADAM is a sweet tale of two people overcoming their emotional issues to learn to trust and love. Roxanne St. Claire always writes such passionately sweet stories.
When I first heard about the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series, I was very interested in reading them all. I like reading about soldiers and the challenges they face when they come home. Plus, I’m already a fan of several of the authors, so I saw this as a chance to read some new authors. Adam, the second book in this series, is written by Roxanne St. Claire, who I’ve read several times. She’s not on my “one-click” list, but her books are well written, solid entertainment. After the first book didn’t really hold my attention very well, I was a little nervous about how this one would go. Thankfully, reading this latest Roxanne St. Claire book didn’t tarnish my opinion of her.
Adam Tucker has recently come home from serving with the Coast Guard. He and his twin brother Zane own an outdoor recreation company - leading hikes and climbs and rafting/kayaking trips on the river through the town of Eagle’s Ridge. While the company was mainly Zane’s dream, Adam’s dream is to open a camp for at-risk youth where they spend the week at A to Z Watersports, and have a good time while learning some discipline. But Adam has made a bet with Zane that he’ll get the bunkhouse ready before the season opens, and he’s running out of time to get everything done.
Jadyn McAllister doesn’t appear to be just the person Adam needs to help him win his bet. A case of miscommunication gets Adam and Jadyn off on the wrong foot, but they quickly start working together. As the bunkhouse gets closer to being completed, Adam falls for Jadyn, but knows she’s hiding something.
Their relationship moves pretty quickly from “I can’t stand you” to “okay, working with this person won’t be too bad” to “this is the love of my life” fairly quickly. The writing is good and the character development is decent. The plot was fairly predictable, but the author (as I said before) is a solid writer, and does a good job of providing an entertaining addition to this series.
The good thing about these books is that if you don’t read all of them, you’re going to get filled in on the backstory of the town and each of the seven soldiers. The bad thing about these books is that you’re going to be getting a lot of repeat about the town and each of the seven soldiers… I’m only two books in, and I’m wondering if I’m going to get irritated at some point by all the repeating and re-explaining. Hopefully not! At any rate, I’m looking forward to the next book about Zane. Fingers crossed it will be as good as Adam.
Adam Tucker is a former Coast Guard rescue swimmer. After a tragic accident, he left the Guard and returned to his hometown in Washington State to start a camp for troubled kids. At the same time, he owned and operated a wilderness excursion business with his twin brother, Zane. Heading into the busy season, the business began hiring tour guides. But when the beautiful young woman who came to interview did not fit the bill as the outdoorsy river guide type, Adam dismissed her right away without giving her a chance.
Jadyn McAllister aka Jane McAllen was in hiding as far away as she could get from from the glitzy big city and a notorious Miami drug lord who thought she snitched on him to the FBI. Her money was running out and she needed a cash job fast. An award winning professional interior designer, she was hoping to get hired to design the living quarters for the kids Adam was trying to help. When Zane points out to Adam that Jadyn was there to help with the design, he sets out to find this attractive woman and convince her to come back and do the job. Neither expected to find a connection. As they begin to trust each other, she discovers there is someone else she trusted who is not who she thought they were. Suddenly her life is in danger and Adam has to try to save her without knowing exactly what he is saving her from. As the intensity builds, the mystery begins to unravel.
I liked Adam right from the start. A no-nonsense guy who knew what he wanted and wanted it done right away. Jane was a little harder to warm up to but probably because she has this hidden past that we gradually learn about as we get further along in the book. A hard worker and researcher, she wanted to make the boys’ house the best she could at the same time incorporating the town’s history into her design. As their secrets began to unfold, their trust in each other grew.
I’ve always found Roxanne’s books to be well-written and hard to put down. This one is no different and has that touch of suspense that I’ve loved from her earlier books. I would most definitely recommend Adam (Book 2) and look forward to reading more of this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This series had already got off to a decent start for me, and this book just ramped that up. Adam had a little more of the military elements I had been hoping for, and I was delighted with Jane/Jadyn’s storyline as well. I’d hoped to see a little more of Bailey and Ryder together than I did but I’m happy that Roxanne St. Claire chose to focus on Adam and Jane rather than adding threads that may have taken away from their story.
Adam was a bit insta-lovey for me, but it worked. Both Adam and Jane were in a place where they needed someone to trust, to get support from, to lay everything out on the line with and they crashed into one another’s lives at the perfect time for that. While their circumstances were vastly different, for the most part, there were enough points of similarity it was evident why they were able to connect with the intensity they did.
The secrets that Adam and Jane harbored added to the suspense that was already present because of the circumstances surrounding Jane’s arrival in Eagle Ridge. I didn’t notice how much all of the secrets and lies were ramping up until it all came to a head and everything was exposed. That moment was intense and scary, and I enjoyed seeing how tons of little details that had been sprinkled throughout the book came together to resolve a potentially tragic situation.
One of my favorite parts of Adam was the inclusion of the founders and their military history and how the rediscovery of objects of their pasts helped to build Jane’s trust and allow Adam to break down her walls.
I wish there would have been more exploration of Adam and Jane’s past. I think that seeing them work through those things that had been so damaging to them as they were growing up would have added a lot to the story and helped to build their relationship to another level.
Roxanne St. Claire added another wonderful layer to the world that originated in Ryder. She gave us a glimpse into the parts that aren’t all shiny and nice. Those tarnished pieces every town has to balance all the perfection. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us in the coming novels and how elaborate this world becomes.
Adam Tucker loves his mountains, his white water rapids and the fresh air. As co-owner of A to Z Watersports with his twin brother Zane, he gets a chance to enjoy outdoor adventures everyday. Although the former Coast Guard AST (aviation survival technician) remains haunted by the one rescue he couldn’t successfully complete, he has a plan to rescue at-risk youths that he has every intention of completing. Meanwhile, Jane McAllen of Miami, Florida (now temporarily Jadyn McAllister of Eagle Ridge, Washington) is haunted by a heart-breaking youth and a terrifying present. Sent on the run by the FBI, Jane landed in Eagle Ridge and smack in the middle of Adam’s boathouse-to-youth camp renovation. Despite an initial rocky start that is the exact opposite of a “meet cute,” Adam and Jane begin to work together on the project. Will these two give in to their mutual attraction? Will danger follow Jane to Eagle Ridge?
Another soldier of Eagle Ridge gets to meet his woman in this terrific second book in the “7 Brides for 7 Soldiers” series. With her fantastic wit and “mad” writing skills, Roxanne St. Clair takes us on a ride down the rapids with Adam and Jane! At times humorous, at times suspenseful, this story packs a powerful emotional punch. How appropriate that a Halloween release deals with protagonists that are haunted by events in their past that paralyze them in many ways. Adam is struggling to fight through those emotions, while Jane erects walls around her emotions to seal them off. Watching these two struggle with their past, present and future is riveting; I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!
This series also deals on a larger scale with the concept of “healing” - the healing of emotions and personal feuds not only for the “present” soldiers of Eagle Ridge, but also for the founders of Eagle Ridge - soldiers who fought together in World War II and then fought with each other once they returned home. I am eagerly awaiting how the next 5 authors will treat the remaining soldiers/friends as they find their way back home to Eagle Ridge!
Adam is the second book in the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone story. Adam and his brother along with friends they met in detention in high school make up the 7 soldiers who have served in the various branches of the military. These 7 men have remained the best of friends and are always there for each other when needed.
After leaving the Coast Guard following losing a teen on a rescue, Adam Tucker has plans to open a youth camp in his hometown. Of course where he wants to set up the camp needs major work and he has a short amount of time to get it finished thanks to the bet he makes with his twin brother Zane. When Jadyn shows up to help out with interior decorating for the camp, I have to say I didn't love seeing Adam blow her off so quickly initially. She was exactly what he needed to win the bet with Zane and make his dreams come true.
Jadyn "Jane" McAllister really is an interior decorator, but Jadyn isn't her real name. She is in hiding thanks to doing a decorating job for someone in a major drug cartel. Now I'll say right up front, I totally questioned how Jane was told to go off the grid and hide under another name without having a contact in the area where she was going. I really did like Jane from the moment we met her and knew that Adam did as well, even as he could tell she was hiding something. I loved her ideas to bring the history of the town into the boathouse where the troubled teens would stay at the camp. I loved that Jane needed to learn more about the area to finish up the boathouse, which meant meeting Adam's grandfather and the the other men who named Eagle's Ridge. It also allowed Adam and Jane more time together, and for their chemistry and connection to grow.
I really enjoyed watching Jane and Adam fall for one another. It wasn't and easy path for either of them, but it was the right path for them. I really loved the chemistry between them and loved how their differences made them work as a couple. I really did love that Adam cared enough about Jane pretty early on to check in on the story with friends who had connections. I hated that Jane didn't initially understand his motivation at first, and wanted her to trust him more. I loved that Adam ended up showing Jane he would do everything in his power to always protect her.
Roxanne St. Claire once again gives her readers a wonderful story that at time keeps you on the edge of your seat reading. The romance between Adam and Jane was strong and I loved getting to meet so many other characters from the series.
Rating: 4 stars (B+) Review copy provided by publisher
This is the 2nd in the series of seven books each written by different authors! Adam was written by multiple award-winning author, Roxanne St. Claire, who knows her way around both contemporary romance and romantic suspense!! Another truly exciting and heartwarming ride all the to the climactic ending with a wonderful HEA for our two stars, Adam & Jane.
Adam Tucker is retired from the Coast Guard after a difficult (and his last) rescue. Back in the hometown he loves, Eagle's Ridge, Washington, where there are the Blue Mountains, clean air, rough water, open spaces and his family.
Jane McAllen, going by an alias for most of the book, Jadyn McAllister, stole away from her home town of Miami as fast as she could go and as far as she could go to a little town several miles away from Seattle, Washington, and off the grid per the FBI's instructions. She had been in the wrong place at the wrong time involving a drug lord and needs to remain hidden until she gets the all-clear, trusting no one but her FBI contact!
After Jane realizes she may need to stay off the grid for longer than her cash supply will hold out she seeks employment, cash only, doing what she loves and has received awards for... interior design. She applies at A to Z Watersports and meets Adam. I have to laugh because of the way St. Clair wrote their first meeting! You'll have to get the book to enjoy this scene for yourself! It's too good to spoil here :)
As always, St. Clair pulls in a few secondary characters with rich personalities that the reader quickly comes to look forward to reading on the pages as well as our hero and heroine! Overall, an excellent blending of contemporary romance and suspense filled with close family, the forgotten essence of small town camaraderie and antics, overcoming major obstacles through trust, lots of laughter and of course... love. A unequivocal 5-star!
"I have plenty of problems, but kissing you isn't one of them."
Oh, these men of Eagle's Ridge!! If this place was real, I'd hop the next plane!! I really loved this story of Adam and Jane. Both struggling with their own inner demons and fears. Both holding on to secrets. Both stumbling on something they never knew they needed.
Adam Tucker left the Coast Guard AST team with a heavy burden. After saving hundreds of lives, the one he couldn't save haunts him. Now, back in Eagle's Ridge and running A to Z Watersports with his twin brother Zane, he has the opportunity to turn the old boathouse in to something to help kids who are lost and on the wrong path. But, he has no idea how to start making it into what he envisions. Until her. Now, the boathouse renovation isn't the only thing he's desiring. But, Jane is keeping secrets she won't divulge. Can he trust her? Is the little she is sharing the truth, or all a sham? Is she who she claims to be? When his head is telling him one thing, and his heart is telling him something else, which one will win out?
Jadyn came to Eagle's Ridge to hide. A case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time has put her in the cross hairs of a ruthless drug lord. With no help from those who claim to be trying to protect her, she sets out to find work in her area of specialty - interior design. Given the opportunity to help design Adam's boathouse into a refuge for troubled kids is just what she needs. But, can she focus on the job when all she can think about is him? Can she afford to let him get close when she's keeping so many secrets, including her real name? When the one person she trusts turns out to be enemy, will she ever be safe? Will Adam be able to make one more rescue?
I am so absorbed in this series!! This one has a little hate-to-love, secrets, betrayal, doubt, humor, you name it! Can't wait to keep reading!!
There is a saying "you can't go back home again" but sometimes when you are hurting the most, you need those who love you the most to be able to get on with things. Adam Tucker was a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer, something he has wanted to be since he was a little boy. When a rescue goes horribly wrong, he decides to leave the service and start over again in the small town he grew up in. With a renewed sense of purpose, he has decided to open a youth adventure camp and while he knows how to run it on the adventure side, he has no clue how to get the interior ready. Just so happens, Jayden McAllister is a very talented interior designer and she needs a job and a place to hide out. On the run from a notorious drug dealer, Jayden has decided that the small town of Eagle's Ridge is a perfect place to hide. Now she just has to talk Adam into giving her the job - not an easy feat considering he knows she is hiding something and their relationship got off on a very wrong foot. I adored this book! Sweet with a little bit of heat, enough suspense that kept me flipping pages long after bedtime, and characters that were easy to fall in love with. It was so fun to watch Adam and Jane (Jayden's real name) dance around each other and their attraction. The town of Eagle's Ridge came alive under the talented hands of Ms. St Claire, truly making me feel as if I could just look out my window and see the beautiful mountain. I love the premise of 7 boys from the same town going into the military, only to return to the town they love to find their way back and I can't wait to continue the series! While this is book 2 in the series, it can easily be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone. But I really don't think you are going to want to miss a single book of the 7!
This is book 2 in a fun new series from multiple authors. Each book revolves around a different guy from the town of Eagle's Ridge, Washington.
Adam Tucker thought he was going to be in the Coast Guard for life, but after he failed to save a teenage boy from drowning, he left the Coast Guard and headed back home to Eagle's Ridge. There Adam and his twin brother Zane are running A to Z Watersports. Adam is also in the process of opening a youth adventure camp to try and help troubled teens. Zane loves to bet anybody for anything so he bets Adam that he will not get his camp ready in time for opening day. Of course Adam takes that bet and is surprised when Zane sends a pretty interior designer his way to help him. As soon as Adam sees Jadyn, whose real name is Jane, the sparks fly. What Adam doesn't know is that Jane is hiding out, per the FBI, from something that she shouldn't have seen back in Miami, FL. Jane doesn't want to get too close to anyone in Eagle's Ridge since she won't be there long, but of course the more she is around Adam, that feeling changes. The more time Adam and Jane spend together, the more they both open up about things in their past. When the past comes back to haunt them, it takes a huge leap of faith with both of them so they find their happy ending.
I just adored both of these characters. I loved how open and honest Adam was. I really enjoyed how all Jane wanted in life was to belong somewhere and how she finally found it. I even really liked all of the secondary characters and it will be fun to see how each of their stories will play out.
I really enjoyed Adam by Roxanne St. Claire, the second book of the 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers series. Each book may be part of the series but is a standalone story.
Adam Tucker a rescue swimmer, left the Coast Guard after a save went bad and decided to start a youth adventure camp in his home town of Eagle’s Ridge. He is willing to do whatever it takes to help other kids who need guidance in reaching adulthood. He’s even bet his twin brother that he can finish converting the boathouse into camp living quarters before the summer season puts their water-sports business in full swing. But Adam needs the help of a beautiful interior designer who is guarding secrets in order to stay alive.
Jadyn McAllister thinks that Eagle’s Ridge is the perfect place to stay “off the grid” until things settle down in her home-town of Miami. She is working for cash and keeping her real name—Jane—a secret, as that’s exactly what the FBI told her to do. They also told her to trust absolutely no one, which isn’t a problem until she meets Adam. From the moment these two meet, sparks fly and an attraction builds every time they are together, which makes it difficult to not want to trust and believe in each other.
I truly loved reading this book. Ms. St. Claire is a wonderful story teller and she seems to always draw me into her books, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next entry in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
A former Coast Guard rescue swimmer and a potential damsel in distress? Count me in to see what happens!
Adam Tucker is trying to find his way in the world after leaving the Coast Guard. One of his dreams is to open a youth adventure camp, but that dream gets pushed further away when he realizes he's up to his eyeballs in the challenge he faces in completing the renovations on the old boat house before the summer season starts. He's got just weeks to finish the job and there's also that bet with his brother, Zane he doesn't want to lose . . . and then he meets Jadyn McAllister.
Jadyn is a woman on the run. With her life threatened in her hometown, the FBI has told her to "stay off the grid." Eagle's Ridge is certainly off the beaten path. But that path has led her to Adam and the chance to work on his amazing boat house.
But what happens when some of the truth of Jadyn's life is revealed. Can Jadyn trust Adam with the whole truth? Can Adam and Jadyn trust each other when the whole story is revealed and danger comes knocking on the door?
Sigh. I love a sweet, sexy, easy romance. Well, the romance between Adam and Jadyn wasn't easy--not with the FBI involved. But I just loved how they slowly got to know each other--got to know the other's secrets and wove inside the other's heart. It was swoony and fun. Especially when friends and family get involved. I am loving these 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers books and can't wait for Zane.
I love a series where several authors get together and create a set of individual stories around a certain theme. In this case, 7 soldiers who grew up in Eagle Ridge will come home to settle down and find a life and love and happiness in unexpected places. In book 2 of this series, Roxanne St Claire tells the story of Adam Tucker who owns a rafting and kayaking tour company with his twin Zane. As part of the comapny, Adam wants to use a warehouse on the property to create a bunk house. He wants to use it to host summer camps for troubled young people. The only problem is that he only has 3 weeks to finish the renovations. Luckily, an interior designer just happens to drop into his lap but she's got more secrets than the CIA. She's on the run from a drug-lord and is under the protection of the FBI. He needs help and she needs a job - together they work to complete the project but also to help each other get over damaging events in their past. Roxanne St Claire does a great job with her descriptions of the environment - the mountains, the river, the raging storms... She does an even better job with the dialogue between Adam and Jane/ aka Jayden. They each have their secrets and yet they haven't been able to open up to anyone before. For two people who are so independent and closed off it is even more exciting to see them get their Happily Ever After.
Adam Tucker has returned home to join his brother’s business after a tragic event on his job with the Coast Guard as a rescue swimmer. He has made a bet with his twin brother, Zane, that he can finish the transformation of the boathouse into a camp dorm. However, to get this done and win the bet he needs help and lots of it. When he mistakes an interior designer as the tour guide and insults her, sparks fly. He really has to do some major groveling to get her to help with his project.
Jadyn McAllister doesn’t need a job bad enough to have to deal with Adam Tucker and she has too many secrets to get close to him. He talks her into helping and they develop a closeness that is tested almost beyond repair.
This story is another great one by this author. She starts with a couple who both have big trust issues, a bit of pressure for our hero, some sparks and a really bad person. The plot is well written, kept my interest as I read this in one sitting. I loved Adam as the hero; however, Jadyn as the heroine took me a while to warm up to. She seemed a little flighty in the beginning when she started working on the project and kept Adam going in circles. She finally got it together and I was pleased with the ending.
7 Brides for 7 Soldiers is a series written by 7 different authors and next up is the story of Adam written by Roxanne St Claire. One of the things I love about Roxanne's writing is that she includes an element of suspense in many of her books.. and this book is no exception.
The backdrop of this story is a town called Eagle Ridge where Adam came home to after leaving the Coast Guard. He is in the process of refurbishing an old boat house into a retreat center for troubled youth and is desperately in need of some design assistance. This is where Jadyn enters the picture. She has come to Eagle Ridge to live "under the radar" and ends up applying for the job as the interior designer on Adam's project.
But all is not as it seems to Adam and he is not sure Jadyn is who she says she is.He reluctantly allows her to join him on the project... his wariness about her keeps his defenses up but as he begins to unravel her story, he finds himself falling for her.
The suspense builds as their defenses weaken and Jadyn's past finds its way to Eagle Ridge. The story is well written and the ending is satisfying. I like how this book is tied to the first book and I anticipate the remaining 5 books will follow suit. It was a quick read.. one I am sure you will enjoy.
Adam has resigned from the service & has come home to help his brother run an outside adventure company. He also has a dream to set up a "bunkhouse" in the old boat house by the water & bring in underprivileged youth during the summer for outings. He bet his brother he could have it done in 3 weeks & has no idea how he will get it done.
Jadyn is on the run. Supposedly she is being hunted by a drug kingpin that thinks she turned him into the FBI. An agent gave her money, a plane ticket & her id until they could get information to get him arrested. Jadyn ended up in Eagle Ridge but is running out of money. When she was looking for a job as a decorator, Adam thought she was applying as a tour leader & was rude & arrogant in turning her down.
This is a well written story & is the second in the 7 brides for 7 soldiers series. Each book can be read as a stand alone but reading them all will given you a more in depth look at the town, its history & the characters. I love that Jadyn & Adam are on the run from something in their pasts & they have to get past it before they can move into their future. The interactions of the detention friends are at time hilarious & at times endearing. I love the way they all have each other's backs when needed. I can't wait for the next book!
This second book in the 7 Brides for 7 Soliders was a good read. 7 young men from the same town who grew up together joined the military and came back home to Eagle Ridge. In this continuing saga we meet Adam Tucker, who along with his brother Zane, have an Outdoor business taking people on the water and hiking. Adam has decided to turn an old boathouse that belonged to his grandfather, one of the founding fathers of the town. He made a bet with Zane that he could do it fix it up in 3 weeks and he needed help fast. And Jayden McAllister falls into his path and is just what he needs. She is an interior decorator and even though she is mistaken for someone else, Adam works his magic and Jayden can't resist Adam or the call of putting this old boathouse to rights.
I enjoyed this 2nd book. The story moved along a good pace. The story lines were good and you wanted to find out all the secrets that Adam and Jayden were hiding from their past and watch them fall in love and share with each other things that they had not shared with anyone else. As the story moved along you are introduced to the other friends and of course you meet the more quirky characters that live in the town. I am looking forward to the next books in this series.
Adam Tucker is restoring a boat house and making it into living quarters for a youth camp. Unfortunately he made a drunken bet with his brother and now he has to get his project down in 3 weeks. With a lot yet to do, this former coast guard could use some help. Enter, Jadyn. Jadyn is hiding out in Eagle’s Ridge after being told by the FBI that she has to go off the grid. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time and now must lay low. Problem is she is in a small town and running out of money. She needs to find a job so she goes to A to Z water sports to see if they would hire her. Adam assumes she is there for her interview to be a rafting guide and rejects her on the spot, not knowing that she is actually an interior decorator. Now, Adam must find this beautiful stranger and ask for help so he doesn’t lose the bet. Between hiding out, guarding herself from emotions and trying to stay alive, Believe or not, Jadyn starts to open up to Adam and finally relax. This book was great. It had the emotions, the heart and the laughter.
