Librarian's Note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B074SBGN5D

Almost pop-star Landon Patton has just turned a corner on the worst two years of his life: dropped by his label and dumped by his ungrateful ex-boyfriend. However, his new agent's brilliant plan for Landon's superstardom doesn’t have anything to do with his music – it’s called Kitchen Wars, and it’s the hottest new reality show on TV.

Landon wishes he could have nothing to do with it.

Since the first morning he mixed flour and water, Quentin Maxwell knew he wanted to be a baker. After becoming the pastry chef at a popular LA bakery, anyone else might be satisfied. But Quen wants to call his own shots. Going on Kitchen Wars to win the money for his own bakery seems like a huge risk, but maybe it's worth it.

They’re an unlikely pair. Landon can’t even figure out how to turn an oven on, while Quentin makes his living with one. But with each passing week on Kitchen Wars, they discover what a great team they make – on set, off set, and between the sheets.

Winning should be everything, but what happens when the tastiest pairing is their own?

Taste on my Tongue is a 80,000 word standalone gay romance featuring two men falling adorably in love, reality TV shenanigans, and too much food porn. Don't read hungry!

I came for the cookery. So singleminded in my purpose that I was willing to overlook the musician in my cookery. I will be retreating back to my no musicians or rockstars bunker now. Taste on my Tongue is suuuuuuuuuuper sweet. Landon and Quentin are sweet. There's virtually no conflict in their sweet relationship. Everything goes swimmingly for them resulting in a perfectly perfect HEA. If this is the sort of thing you look for in your romance reads stop reading here. This book is for you. If you're a foodie you might have some quibbles but otherwise it should be love at first sugar.

I tend to gravitate towards characters with some grit and for them to have to fight for their relationship. Landon does angst quite a bit which I believe was Bolden's effort to infuse the narrative with some gravitas by making him insecure, but it read one note to me: sweet. They have chemistry both on and off camera and their relationship moves swiftly. I do applaud an author who doesn't make me wait for the good times until the last 40+% of the book and some of the times were pretty hot. Honorable Mention to the Rory's desk scene.

Landon is the narrator of this story and exhausting high maintenance. He's a musician who's trying to kickstart his floundering career. His agent encourages him to go on Kitchen Wars, a mishmash of Cutthroat Kitchen and Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition. Since he's already been on The Voice, outted himself and suffered the career repercussions of that decision, he considers himself a reality TV and Hollywood veteran and as such a mentor to Quentin. I really would've liked Quentin's POV to maybe cut some of the sweetness, but I think he's just as bitten by the love bug as Landon so maybe it wouldn't've made a difference.

I have very little interest in celebrity so the Hollywood machinations were too much for me. At one point it even crossed my mind that Landon was using Quentin to achieve his ultimate goal of superstardom, but even though I found him to be vapid, histrionic, in need of constant reassurance, boy crazy with some serious heart eyes and a mean case of the instaloves, his feelings for Quentin appear to be genuine. Quentin is in the reality show gig for the cash prize so he can start his own bakery. Quentin comes across as unpretentious and pragmatic. What I know of him I like, but buying him as a professional chef was... a big ask. How many professional chefs do you know who regularly order takeout?

As a foodie, lover of cooking shows and chefs this book failed in delivering the level of chefery I craved. The cooking was uninspired. Kitchen Wars is boring and not well executed. I've never watched a competitive cooking show wherein the contestants didn't progress in their abilities by leaps and bounds by the end. If the best you can do after 7 weeks of tutoring from a professional chef is grilled cheese... what was the point? I've also never seen a competition wherein there was only one challenge per show either. I had many nitpicks including washing their own vegetables, not having the water boiling already and the logistics of them working as a team within the confines of 30 mins of cook time. Didn't add up. Literally. I wish more focus would've been put into the show and the other characters interacting with Landon and Quentin but... was not to be.

Taste on my Tongue could've used a final proof and edit to address the added/missing words and general filler. The story arc itself is fine but there was an excessive amount of descriptors, some repetitive that I found unnecessary. The dialogue is organic and some of the secondary characters added to the story positively with the potential for successive stories. Overall Bolden's writing style is easy to read and she convincingly wrote a sweet love story that showed their connection. Even though this was to saccharine for me I can objectively see the appeal of a story without a lot of dramatics contrived or otherwise, so I'm somewhere between 2.5-3 Hearts but I'll just round up to 3. If you like your romance with extra sweetness this will be a winner for you.

This was unexpectedly good. It took me a while to get into it and warm up to Landon but when I finally did I really enjoyed this very sweet story. I'm a sucker for cooking shows and until this one I haven't really liked any others I've read with this setting. So I didn't really have high hopes. But I loved being proven wrong.

Fair warning though, it's very much an insta love story. So if that's not your thing, you might want to stay away.

My review seems to have vanished so adding it again as much as I can remember.

Loved this one, humour, sarcasm, frenemies, cooking, hot men, all adds up into a winning narrative.

These days, I deliberately didn't re-read blurb for ARC books that I requested because I wanted to savor the book with blank slate and to prepare myself for the joy of being surprised with where the story might take me. However, I can't help to have expectation at the beginning, or at least during the MC's initial meet.

When on the first chapter of Taste on my Tongue introduced a former 3rd place winner of The Voice Landon Patton with Quentin Maxwell, the pastry chef who would be his partner for the reality TV show Kitchen Wars ... I was visioning clash of interests. Landon said that he didn't care for cooking (and he didn't expect someone can teach him how to cook) so I was anticipating delicious and shimmering sexual interest between the two.

Alas, everything went WAY too smooth for these two. They were almost directly being smitten with one another, waxing compliments about how beautiful the other person were ... and well, being all too lovey-dovey. This book barely had any conflicts!! For me it became way too easy, and way too nice. I guess I want more OOMPH when it comes to my romance.

I can see this being well-accepted with a lot of MM readers who want light, easy, and sweet romance. I am just not one of them, sadly.

The ARC is provided by the author for an exchange of fair and honest review. No high rating is required for any ARC received.

“Taste on my Tongue” by Beth Bolden is a fun and sweet romance with a reality show setting which I enjoyed a lot. I am not much into reality TV but I love music and food and this book combines these specific two elements to create a very sweet and engaging romance, which was delightful.

Landon Patton was a former contestant of ‘The Voice’ but since then he had his downfalls after his coming out, as his record label dumps him and his ex-boyfriend leaves him. He needs to restore his status to hip and happening again if he wants to make his dream of becoming a pop star come true in the near future. And apparently the best way to get back on the masses radar is participating in the hottest reality show on TV, ‘The kitchen Wars’.

Landon knows absolutely zilch about cooking and he will be so totally out of his element in a cooking show but that’s until he meets his partner, baker Quentin Maxwell and suddenly the ordeal of cutting vegetables and learning to cook is not so gruesome at all. The attraction is there from the moment they meet. Quentin has a crush on Landon and Landon is not too far away as their first day together comes to an end.

Along with cooking, as the partners fight off the other contestants in a food pow-wow, both Landon and Quentin fall in love as they get to know each other more and understand that they are just ‘The One’ for each other.

It was not exactly ‘Love at first sight’ but the vibe was definitely there as the love and the emotions develop pretty quickly in the story. I for one did not have any qualms with the progress of the relationship. Sometimes love happens without any delay at all and u just have to go with the flow. I loved their chemistry and especially Quentin’s patient nature to nurture their relationship without pushing Landon too far too fast.
“I love you. Not sometimes. Not only if you do stuff I like. All the time, Landon.”

Their bond was very strong and you could really feel it when they rely on each other as the pressure of the show starts to be too much. They made the most sweetest reel-life/real-life couple who you just know will last forever.
“Landon thinks he’s been in love before, but it never felt like this with another man before. Every moment, every touch, every frisson of pleasure is more somehow, and being in love hasn’t changed anything; it still feels like more.”

The reality show is a very important part of the story and every episode of Landon and Quentin fighting towards their goal to win the ultimate prize, is detailed nicely complete with the heart-pounding anxiety while waiting for the judge’s results. It was like watching a reality show itself and I loved how the author ended the whole thing which was very realistic as well as an absolute happy ending for each party involved.

All in all, this was a very engaging and enjoyable read. The romance was equally steamy and sweet without any overwrought angst. I just felt the characters should had a little more history to add more depth to them but it was not major enough to deter me from liking them. Landon and Quentin meshed really well together and I really enjoyed reading their 'deliciously-foody' journey towards an awesome HEA!!!

Oh wow. This was an awesome read. When I started reading I thought it would be good but not totally surprising. Boy was I wrong. At first I was hoping we would get Quentin's point of view but it really works seeing it from Landon's perspective. These guys sneak into your heart. Then you add the other characters and how Landon feels about what is happening with them. I was given the privilege and opportunity to receive an advanced reader copy and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. This was a real treasure to read and I can't wait to see what Beth Bolden has in store for us next.

The funk is official when even a supposed fluff read couldn't bring me out of it.

This book is stickily sweet, like syrup on ice cream with the plot that's probably as thick as the syrups layers. It have an interesting concept with the Kitchen War, but that fail to capture my attention when I fell out of love with the couple (or should I rather said, Landon.) There were elements and decisions that just felt inconsistent and simply didn't work for me. *shrug*

This is the first book I've read by Beth. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book and will definitely recommend it. It is different and funny. Landon won third place on the Voice, thought he was on the rise until his boyfriend begged him to come out to the world. His agent said it was suicide but he was in love. Needless to say, it didn't work well. Dumped by both his boyfriend and agent, his new agent talks him into being a contestant on Kitchen Wars. Here he meets Quentin who is a fan, wanting to win to open his own bakery and now his partner for the show. These two are not just cooking for TV ratings but there's definitely something brewing between the two of them as well. Oh there's drama but comes with a happy ending. You will enjoy this book I promise.

If anyone knows me knows I love my cooking shows and celebrity drama. This book brought both my loved together with one of my fave romance types to read M/M romance. Beth did such. Great job with these characters and their development was wonderful!!! Can't wait to read more by her!

A refreshing change from the normal romances I read. Very much enjoyed the reality tv portion of the story. At times, feeling like I was actually watching the competition. The description of the food was so realistic, I found myself drooling on my kindle and trying to figure out if it was a dish I could make or not. Also enjoyed seeing Kimber brought in as a character.

so nice with a book where the relationship has problems, but instead of being all angsty and frustrating for seven chapters because of misunderstandings and miscommunications, they actually talk about it! yay

but seriously, this book is really sweet <3 and I am very hungry right now ...

This was a very sweet love story. If you're a fan of shows like Cutthroat Kitchen and Chopped etc, I think you'll enjoy the plot. Quentin and Landon are assigned as partners on a cooking show that pairs celebrities and chefs. They fall hard and they fall fast. As in instantly. That was my biggest issue, along with the schoompiness. It was almost saccharine. Which isn't always an issue but I don't think I was in the mood for it right now because it just made me roll my eyes. But I did like that the angst was minimal, whenever one started getting to in their head about the relationship they snapped themselves right out of it. There's no grand misunderstanding, there's no break up for the sake of plot drama. Those are major pluses for me. So all in all, a nice happy ready, but pick your mood.

Landon (a former contestant on "The Voice") goes on a reality TV cooking show called Kitchen Wars. He gets paired up with Quentin (a baker who dreams of owning his own bakery). Quentin can't believe his luck as he is a massive fan of Landon's, since his time on "The Voice"! As they get to know each other the flirting starts and its not only the kitchen that gets hot! The description of the food they make will make your mouth water and stomach rumble!! Will they win the show and will Quentin get his bakery?

After a third place finish on The Voice and a couple of successful albums, with the encouragement from his then boyfriend and against the advice from his management, Landon comes out to the world. But coming out puts his music career in a bit of a slump, then the boyfriend he came out for dumps him along with his record company. Now Landon's new agent convinces him that to put his face back out there in the public eye, he should join the cast of the upcoming season of the reality show, Kitchen Wars, a cooking competition that pairs a celebrity with a professional chef. But Landon's extent of cooking is boiling a mean pot of water for his French Press and microwaving stuff. Landon finally agrees and is partnered with pastry chef, Quentin Maxwell. Do Landon and Quentin have a chance at winning the competition and should they act on the mutual attraction they are feeling?

I'm torn with how to rate this book because there were things about it that I absolutely loved and other things that just didn't work. I absolutely loved Quentin. He was an amazingly sweet and caring guy. I loved that he was so patient when it came to Landon's cooking skills, or lack thereof. I liked Landon, but there were times I wanted to smack some sense into him or maybe yell at him a bit. I know he'd been hurt in the past and I understood his fear of completely trusting in Quentin's feelings for him, but it got a bit old after a while.

I loved the premise of the story and the author did a phenomenal job with the Kitchen Wars portions of the story. The writing was outstanding and I felt I was transported into the studio with the contestants. It was all so vivid and these scenes came to life before my very eyes.

What I didn't care for in the book was the author's writing style. The book is told completely from Landon's POV and is written in third person Point Of View, and it took me quite some time to acclimate myself and get a feel for the writing. In fact, at the beginning it felt like Landon was talking about himself in the third person. It was very odd and a bit awkward, but as the book progresses, I'm not sure if I just became accustomed to the writing or if it actually improved.

All in all, this was an enjoyable and entertaining read. Quentin and Landon had amazing chemistry and while I found the progression of their relationship to be a big rushed in the beginning, they fit well together and complimented one another. The story was entertaining and filled with sweetness and laughter, as well as steamy romance. Recommendable!

Finding love in a reality show!

Reality TV! It has been the trend for a while now!

Landon won third place in The Voice, but due to his decision to “out” himself at the pinnacle of his win and record album, he has been lack-lustered for a while now, thus a new reality show! How hard can it be right? After all, he is a veteran!

Quentin joins the show in order to win the money to put up his own bakery. He is gorgeous and kind, as Landon tells him. As partners, Quentin tries to guide and teach Landon all he needs to know in order to be prepared. How hard can it be right?

Their attraction was instantaneous! And it is very much mutual! But they both have something to aim for when they joined this competition, will they have to sacrifice one for the other?

This reality show has some twists that other reality shows don’t have and it puts a lot of pressure to its contestants, everybody tries to outdo everyone else. It will be another challenge to their burgeoning relationship. An easy read of a love story that will make you root for this unlikely pair. They may sound different from each other but Quentin and Landon both create beautiful things and both have their dreams of success!

Well, things finally got moving. I do wish we could have seen more of Dream Team though. :-)

But I'll tell you, there's a reason I won't watch reality shows similar to the one in the book. I just can't deal with the stress. :-P

I got this ebook because of the cover. Yes, I am that shallow. The model makes an adorable Quentin. The Landon, though, doesn't fit my mental image, but that's hindered because of how odd this book is in a few places.

The basics, this is a low heat MM love story where a pastry chef and B-list musician join forces on a cooking reality show and fall in love. If that floats your boat, you'll probably like this. No harm, no foul. But there were ways that the story was told that made it so I didn't enjoy it all that much. I just finished reading so I wouldn't have yet another unread book on my Kindle.

The problems I have with this book start with the point of view (running present tense from Landon's POV). It is pure tell all the way through that creates distance in the story instead of drawing me in. Some show to the writing might be nice. Some showing and Quentin's point of view would be even nicer.

I also wondered if this was perhaps a story that was originally written MF but changed to MM because there are some repeated passages that come across as clunky. Quentin is supposed to be a big man. The model on the cover is pleasingly fit, but it he doesn't look huge. Landon is several times called out because of his short stature and "curves." In straight romances, that's usually shorthand how the heroine feels all protected and cared for by the hero. In this story it was just peculiar, especially as this is the first time I've ever read a man described as having curves. (Yeah, curves has become a gendered description. I didn't make it up. Just read lots of romance.)

There weren't any editing errors, but if this is a good representation of the author's style, I don't think I will read more from this author.

I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I was very excited about the premise of this book. I love watching cooking challenges and reading M/M romance, so this seemed right up my alley. Unfortunately, I thought it was way too sweet and sappy. Landon and Quentin are paired up for Kitchen Wars and immediately fall in love with each other. Everything between them seems so perfect and cute. Even when they fight or there is some kind of doubt, it is fixed quickly and perfectly. I had a hard time getting through the story because of this. I prefer relationships that seem a little more real. I can understand the feeling of falling for someone, where everything just feels amazing, but Landon was thinking about marriage and kids after a couple months?!?!

I was hoping the cooking show aspect of the book would make it better, but the recipes they created didn't sound impressive. I would like to watch the show in real life though, I thought the auctions made it funny and interesting.

All in all, I would recommend this to someone who likes to read about perfect relationships with very little conflict. I could see it being a quick, happy read.

Synopsis:
Landon placed third on a singing talent show, and then had a semi-successful debut album. Before his second album came out, though, he did, and his career stalled out. His new manager has signed him up for a reality cooking show called "Kitchen Wars", where he will be paired up with a professional chef. Landon pretty much only knows how to boil water, but he wants more exposure so that any albums he subsequently releases will do well, and will get his singing career back on track.
Landon is paired with Quentin, who is a pastry chef by trade, and works at a successful bakery. His dream, though, is to open his own bakery, and to do it a little differently. Landon and Quentin have immediate chemistry, but Quentin seems a little reluctant to follow through on it. Because of the chemistry, Landon wants to win for himself, but also for Quentin.
As the cooking competition starts, Landon is glad that Quentin gave him a little bit of cooking prep before the cameras started rolling. There is stiff competition from the other pairs, and Landon, who knows how reality competitions work, vows to make himself and Quentin memorable by playing up their flirtation for the cameras.
Landon and Quentin don't hold out against their attraction for long, and as the relationship starts for real, Landon's past hurts romantically start giving him doubts. Throughout it all, though, Landon and Quentin get to know each other, and appreciate the other's strengths and weaknesses.

What I liked: Landon and Quentin were so cute together. If this were a real competition and the characters were real people, I would have been cheering for them. Even though Landon was selfish and ego driven when it came to his career, he recognized that in himself, and he made an effort to think about what Quentin wanted, and what would be good for both of them. Quentin was supportive and understanding, but didn't sublimate his wants or needs just to give Landon everything he was looking for. I liked that they were in agreement while they were in competition, and mostly worked in sync with each other to get what they needed to do done. Although I am not a huge fan of insta-lust/love, this actually mostly worked for me; I think because the actual time frame of the relationship was spread out over a few months, rather than a week or so. Also, with regards to the cooking and the process, the author seems to know her stuff, as nothing really stood out to me as being glaringly obviously wrong.

What I didn't like: There was a moment close to the end where Landon and Quentin have just had sex, and they start talking about how they had never done it like that before with anyone, but they had always wanted to and I had no idea what they were talking about. It sounded like they were talking about some BDSM aspect of what they had just done, but nothing stood out to me as particularly daring or shocking or BDSM-y when I was reading it. I also didn't like the fact that Landon didn't talk to Quentin for so long about what was bothering him. I get that he had his reasons, but I am a huge proponent of the "rip the band aid off" mindset, or "just bloody well talk about it and get the fallout over with".

Overall impression: The writing was solid, and the story was very cute. No editing issues. Told from Landon's viewpoint (third person) in present tense.

** I received a copy in exchange for an honest review through the DBML program**

I loved this book from the very first chapter and couldn't put it down. Taste on my Tongue tells the story of Quentin, a baker who dreams of opening his own bakery and Landon, an semi-washed up star that didn't even get to reach the levels of stardom he had aspired to be at. The two are paired up for a cooking competition and right from the get-go sparks fly between the two.

I think that the way that Bolden managed to navigate their relationship in the competition and outside of it was what made it so good. There was tension but by no means did the book feel prolonged in getting to the action. Bolden made kisses feel passionate and exciting and I cannot say that I have found many authors that can do that.

Then there was the competition itself. I liked the complex group of contestants in the competition itself and I liked adding that level of partnership between the two, bringing them together against the rest of the "world." It made it fun to see them work in a situation that would stress anyone out, plus the whole money aspect to the challenges was a nice touch - added a layer of intensity that was above what I expected.

And while I did love the two main characters, I was also a huge fan of Rory's character development. Too cute. I love the sass and spunkiness that gets left out of secondary characters in quite a few romance novels. He seemed well rounded enough to stand out right from the first chapter.

Overall, I would most definitely give Taste on my Tongue the 5 stars it deserves. If you like cooking competitions and washed out celebrities battling it out for money and recognition, I would pick this book up. And not only is the there a plot, but there are plenty of sexy scenes to keep it steamy without becoming porn. Loved it!! I will be reading anything Bolden decides to write in the future for sure.

Final notes:
-Told in third person pov
- Cooking competition
- A nice friend dynamic
- Although its not seasonal, this book would be a cozy read for winter break

Landon and Quentin are a sweet couple in the making and I got to know them through the Kitchen Gods series before I read this story. What I was expecting wasn't exactly what we got, but what was presented was mostly sweet with a bit of secrets that had the potential to complicate things.

Landon's POV is the only one we get and I can't say I was in love with that. Even with a shorter story, as this one is, we really needed something to balance Landon's more high-strung personality. He dominated every scene and not only because we're in his head all the time. There were times that I wasn't convinced of his sincerity because despite the sweeter moments of connection, there were so many times we went straight back into his self-serving behaviors. Rarely did we see Landon thinking about Quentin's needs, what he deserved from Landon, and I think it became a flaw that didn't really go away. On the other hand, we can see that most of that is a cover for his insecurities and where we ended up went quite a way to soothing my frustrations.

I felt there was a bit of an imbalance between both characters, not in their relationship, but in the attention given to each of them, and didn't get a chance to connect with Quentin much at all. He was the softer, more understanding, more grounded of the pair and I would have loved to hear from him.

The whole story would likely have benefitted from Quent's insight though I will say that this story was more about Landon's evolution and Quent was a part of it as well as a catalyst for Landon's new outlook. It was less about the relationship itself, but how it helped Landon to find what he needed. What he needed gave him the strength to let go of those things holding him down and ultimately gave him wings, a freedom and a peace he hadn't yet experienced.

The characters are instantly attracted to each other and don’t bother to hide it. I wish there was more internal agonizing and build up, personally, but the book was pretty cute regardless, and I liked that the couple was actually together for a significant portion of the book.

The premise of the book is a cooking reality TV show competition pairing chefs and celebrities. The chef MC is in it for the money he needs for his bakery, while the singer MC is in it for publicity. The characters approach their competition with a cutthroat attitude, and I wish they were a bit more friendly, like Great British Bake Off as opposed to Cutthroat Kitchen (which I think the show was based on). The characters also play up their relationship in order to get more PR. I really detest the idea of turning a relationship into a product like that. The singer MC also purposefully calls the paps on himself to drum up publicity, which I think is just a gross and manipulative move. I know it’s reality TV, but I wish the characters were more genuine in the public eye regardless.

There was no real conflict, aside from the singer’s desire for public attention and the chef’s dislike for publicity, which was resolved by the chef basically giving up everything he personally prefers and saying that he’ll be happy with any amount of public attention as long as the singer is happy. I didn’t like that at all, because the singer is willing to do things like sell out their relationship for album publicity. I wish there was deeper conflict and that what conflict was there was resolved differently.

The book is told entirely from the singer MC’s POV. I don’t know why the author chose to go with only one POV for this book, but I felt that the second POV was sorely missing.

I know this author mostly writes strict top / bottom books, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find a vers couple in this book! Right up my alley. There is a mild praise kink (“good boy”) and light bondage (mentioned, non-explicit) as well though, which was less my speed.

I guess every author has to write a bomb somewhere along the line. I personally think Beth Bolden should have bitch-slapped her proofreader/editors for letting this out. I'll admit that I am way too twitchy about grammar and misused homophones, which were many in this tale, but put that aside. There were sentences that completely contradicted themselves and gave the opposite of the intended outcome, and all the above kept throwing me out of my reading groove. Said reading groove was stalled at first by the present tense style. Not sure if I've ever encountered this before now, but I'm sure that the only thing I like less is second-person POV (blessedly, hardly ever used).

Besides that, I couldn't decide if I thought Landon was just a ditzy goofball, a clueless, oblivious asshole diva, or somewhere in between. His persona was all over the place. The sock, though: NOT cute.

Overall, if not for all the annoying things that should have been eliminated by decent proofreading, I would have given this four stars just because I like Beth Bolden - but this is not her best tale. Just not quite enough wit and substance to overcome the distractions.

Honestly, I’m a fan of the food and cooking reality shows, so this story was the perfect combination for me: Food and mm romance. Sounds pretty good for me and after finishing the book, I’m not disappointed at all.

Against all advice, musician Landon and third place in the reality show The Voice, came out of the closet for a boyfriend who then leaves him, followed by his record label and his agent. With his popularity diminishing day by day, his new agent pushes him to enter to a new reality show: Kitchen Wars. Landon isn't very convinced, because his culinary skills are almost nonexistent and he considers himself capable even of burning the water.

Quentin is a talented pastry chef with the dream of opening his own bakery. As the story is told from Landon's point of view, we know more about his story than about Quentin's. I would have liked to know more about him and his background.

At first, I felt it almost an insta-love because the characters connected too quickly but then I really enjoyed the way the relationship is developed and how Landon helps Quentin with the pressure of becoming a public figure.

The dishes presented within Kitchen Wars competition, the producers’ complications to add more emotion and the pressure of the weekly challenges, were quite precise and I really liked them.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Sweet read with two very different characters that connect through cooking.

Landon is trying to have a comeback after his debut in The Voice and the best to do that is to be part of a reality show with some known stars called Kitchen Wars. His partner there, is Quentin, a cute and easy-going baker who wants to win the big prize so he can open his own bakery one day. He's a great teacher with a lot of patience as Landon doesn't even know how to boil an egg. It does help he's also his fan.

Things develops quite fast from there. Their chemistry is present from their first meeting and it goes deeper with each chapter. I liked the flirting and that they had this banter going on the entire time, it was really cute.

I never really paid attention to books with plots that focused on reality shows or cooking lessons but in this case, the cookinh show takes a big part in the story, we know the other participants even if by name only. I really felt I was in a cooking show.

Besides that, there's not much going on. It can be said there's no angst, it's just a story about two people falling in love (extremely fluffy). I enjoyed it.

This was a very sweet book which was okay by me but I would have liked a little more conflict or drama.
Landon was a contestant on a singing show but all went downhill when he came out for his boyfriend. Dumped by said boyfriend and also by his label he becomes a contestant on Kitchen Walls in the hope of regaining his popularity. Quentin is a pastry chef who is Landon’s partner on the show and when they meet it’s obvious that they are going to be together.
Beth’s writing style is good but the book is written in the present tense which is something that I would normally avoid. That being said, at one stage I wouldn’t read books which were written in the first person but this too has changed. First person books are are now fine by me and present tense books may also become more popular.
I am glad that I read the book. I have never read any books by Beth Bolden before this but I will now be checking out her other titles.
