4 Stars.

Another very delightful instalment in the Uncommon World series. I have to say - Avi and Radi's interactions were the best part of this novella and I have high hopes for romantic things happening in the future *wiggles eyebrows* What? I love slow-burn romances.

The plot for Fever was very emotionally stressful and I couldn't stop turning the pages to find out what happened. I also like how this introduces fascinating new characters and sets up the next book in the series really well.

I just really enjoy reading about these characters and this world, and I can't wait for book 2 as soon as possible! I can't recommend this series enough so please pick it up - you won't regret it!

*Thank-you to the author, Alisha Klapheke, for providing me with this ARC. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review*

This is the second book in the series Uncommon World and it catches on right were book 1 left off however this time to focus is less on Kinneret than Waters of Salt and Sin was! In this book we travel with Calev to the Empire's capitol as Calev is entrusted to deliver a very important agreement for Old Farm which needs the endorsement of the Kyros Meric and when he leaves he has no idea that the fever that has been killing people off in Jokobden has also laid Kinneret low. Avi, Kinneret's beloved younger sister decides that only Calev can help her sister overcome the fever so she follows him on her own to the capitol. As usual trouble is never far from these characters and they really were not prepared for the trouble which caught them up in its grip in the city. They ended up fighting for their own lives and the days and nights were moving on and Avi was worried they might get back too late to save Kinneret. This was another brilliant book full of adventure and lots of love on so many levels, even Avi seems to have met a young man she could love, Radi so let us see what comes out of this encounter. My only complaint is that this book was too short but I am already reading book 3 as this series is so utterly addictive!

For all lovers of great fantasy storytelling!

In this short story, a continuation of the mystery and magic from "Waters of Salt and Sin".
This time we focus on Calev, an equally strong character protagonist.
With his intended, Kinneret, at home ill, and that fact unknown to him, he travels to a distance land to procure a treaty needed by his own lands.
He is unexpectedly mugged and robbed of his important document and signal leading to being unbelieved by the Kyros, the ruler. Consequently he is jailed as is, Kinneret's sister, Avi who came after him because of his intendeds illness.
This all plays out between switching character story lines back and forth. It has so much heart break and so much action it is difficult to stop reading.
It's a wonderful addition to an already wonderful series. It's a must read for all fantasy fans!
I only wish I could give these stories real justice with my words.

This was an awesome short story of Kinneret and Calev and I loved to read a bit about Avi too. Also, in this story, the author introduced us to some new and amazing characters within the pages of this book too.

The characters were phenomenal. I so loved reading about the adventure these characters had in this story.

The story-line was incredible and the words just seemed to flow off the pages and kept me interested and intrigued until the very end. I highly recommend this read too.

From Claimed and Waters of Salt & Sin we know that Kinneret is a very strong young woman who would give her life to save that of her loved ones. In this story we learn that it is also the other way around. Great to get to know Avi and Calev better! I loved it just as much as the other 2 stories!
I received a copy and chose to review it.

Uncommon World Series:
Waters of Salt and Sin #1 - A well written, fast paced, fun adventure with well developed, likeable characters and a well thought out plot that keeps the reader immersed in the story. The author does a wonderful job with her descriptions. 4*

Fever #2 - A short story to be read after Waters of Salt and Sin. Another well written, interesting story with characters from WoSaS and a well thought out plot to keep the reader reading until the last page. 4*

Plains of Sand and Steel #3 - Another well written, fast paced, adventure with more well developed, likable characters and a well thought out plot that keeps the reader wrapped up in the story. The author paints vibrant scenes with her descriptions. 4*

Forest of Silver and Secrets #4 - This book is just as well written, action packed and interesting as the three books previous to this one. Ms. Klapheke's vivid descriptions, twisting storylines and interesting characters keep the reader immersed in the book. All the books of series run the gamut on emotions and adventures. Her characters never fail to deliver and there's humor, too. Start with the first book Waters of Salt and Sin and have fun and adventure through the series and end with this story. 4*
Uncommon World Series End.

The Edinburgh Seer - Another well written, intriguing novel with well developed, interesting characters and a well thought out, twisting plot; all that keep the reader immersed in the pages until the end. Hard to put this book down with the vivid descriptions of unfolding scenes. 4*

This is a nice novella bridging the 1st and 3rd books together. It introduces new characters that I assume will be major players in the last two books, shows us a new setting, and also shows us the POVs from two characters we hadn't gotten to see yet. It was nice reading from Calev and Avi's POVs, and the adventure was fun, but it wasn't as good as the first book because it was set on land. Kinneret adds a lot to the story, and she's a supporting character in this tale so that may be a factor too, but all in all a solid read that does the job of setting up the world and characters more for what journeys they'll be taking on later.

I really liked Seren and her hand maiden. I hope to read more about them later in the series, because the glimpses we got of them were really cool. Like I said, just a solid fun short read in this universe that will kill a few hours. Not amazing like book 1, but still enjoyable to read.

This novella bridges the first and third books in the series and introduces the imperial court of this Mediterranean-inspired fantasy world! Since Alisha told me that Book 3 was inspired by the amazing real-life story of Shajar al-Durr, the concubine who briefly ruled Egypt as sultan and was instrumental in defeating the Sixth Crusade of Louis IX and bringing the Mamluk regime into power, I was super excited to see how this shorter story sets up the next one.

While a fever ravages the port town of Jakobden, Calev of Old Farm travels to the empire's capital on a diplomatic mission. Avi follows him to bring him home to his sick fiancee, but when Calev's mission goes badly wrong, she must team up with a handsome tribesman to find him!

A fast-paced, well-written adventure story with a dash of romance and a hint of larger worldbuilding. I'm looking forward to the next book!

A short, tense, gripping read! This novella is told from Caleb and Avi's POV and chronicles their journeys into a new land and battle to return in time to save Kinneret. It also introduces the desert empire and Seren who will be the focus of book 2. I loved getting more of Calev and Avi and am even more excited for Plains of Sand and Steel now

Calev's plans to make his family and region proud and safe go awry, and Ari goes to find him to bring him some news from home. This sequel is bittersweet, with Ari finding love in a dark place, and Calev fighting to make it back to his love's arms.
I read this in one sitting, gobbling it up. It is a good sequel to the first book of the series, "Waters of Salt and Sin."

Really enjoyed this novella which expands on the love between Calev and Kinneret, and further fleshes out the world they live in. As well as providing what I suspect with be a love interest for Kinneret’s sister. I received an ARC copy; this is my honest review.

Short but good

A quick read when compared to the first book but still satisfying none the less. You get to get a feel for Calev and Avi as they fought their way through this story. Looking forward to the next one.

Great!

This book picks up shortly after the first book with Calev heading off on an important mission and ending up having quite the adventure with Kinneret’s sister Ali. Very enjoyable! Can’t wait to read more.

This was my least favorite of the series. BUT the series itself is amazing and this book is short so I say read it and keep going. The best is yet to come!

A thrilling emotional short that connects the first book to the upcoming second. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen to all the characters. This book focuses mostly on Avi and Calev so it was interesting to see things from their perspective.
I can't wait till the next book comes out!

In this short story Calev heads across the plains to the city Akhayma carrying an agreement between his father that needs needs the Amir's signature. On the way there all Calev's people are laid low with a fever so he is the only one to make it to Akhayma. Of course like many travelers to a large city, he chooses the wrong place to stay and eat dinner so major problems occur. Avi shows up a day later looking for Calev and runs into problems too trying to find Calev. The story was cute and it was interesting to read about what happened from each of their points of view. Nice to visit this world again. A few spots made me laugh.

It was a nice change to read in Calev and Avi's pov, and dive a little bit more into the world. I hope Kinneret, Calev, Avi, and yes even Radi show up in the next books.

Calev has become engaged to Kinneret, now his father sends him on an important mission to obtain the Kyros’s signature on the agreement between the Old Farm and the Amir. Unfortunately things do not go as planned and Calev ends up in the cells. Meanwhile Avi believes that the only way she can save Kinneret from the fever is to bring Calev home unfortunately she ends up in the cells as well. How they survive is a great short story. Highly recommend.
