you know who would like this book??

aquaman. aquaman would love this book.

so if you haven't gotten him his secret santa present yet, you can get right on that.

although this book lacks the opportunity for the hilarious dirrrty jokes that can be made with its (different author/different publisher) feline counterpart Wet Cats, and probably smells worse, it's still pretty fantastic.

 photo 03f4fa26-bb30-4641-a4ae-14ad7590a547_zpsgtgx3nxm.jpg

in fact, there are SO many great pictures, including some great before-and-after shots:

and one celebrity appearance:

 photo IMG_4988_zpszfczkfua.jpg

that it was hard to narrow down which ones to showcase in this review. so i asked myself "WWAD??" and decided to just post aquaman's favorites. these are the ones he would be friends and colleagues with. and don't get all mark watney/mammal-hating on me. i have seen ghost shark, and in ghost shark, i learned that as long as there's water - in a swimming pool, on a slip n' slide, in a glass of water, or in a fire sprinkler-system, you can be attacked by a ghost shark. and since aquaman has to at least be as powerful as a ghost shark, he can control/pal around with/infiltrate anything that's wet. so watch out, GM!

and we're off:

this dog is aquaman's closest pal, and he's always pranking the big a. here, he is disguised as aquaman's trident and it's gonna be hilarious when he reaches for it and it all of a sudden goes ROOF!

 photo IMG_4989_zpslryr5583.jpg

this is aquaman's most trusted advisor. he doesn't have his monocle in right now, but if he DID, you would see how worthy he is of the role. he knows so many things, but he has a tendency towards condescension and pooping on the rug.

 photo 7d66c078-c3f2-4621-a59f-6724deede11d_zpsvvdnjna6.jpg

these are aquaman's sexxiest colleagues, and the subject of much "will they or won't they" speculation. spoiler alert - they probably will, but never at the same time. it will all begin with some well-timed leg-humping. initiated by aquaman.

 photo IMG_4982_zpsrqnbirtq.jpg

this is aquaman's in-house alchemist. he lives in a coral tower stirring up batches of drought-fighting elixirs and also lentil stew. he's a little creepy, but chicks dig him.

 photo IMG_5000_zpsyghfl3yp.jpg

this is anemone-dog. he mostly just swims around in aquaman's entourage looking pretty and fluttering his fur dramatically to assist with those grand entrances. he enjoys a good belly-rub.

 photo IMG_5002_zpsimldpvtw.jpg

this is old man seaweed bones. he used to be a pirate, but now he sits in the sandbar all day, telling stories about the old days when sharks were really scary and you had to swim against the current both ways and etc. aquaman goes to him when he needs a long rambling story to illuminate the solution to some problem that's been keeping him up nights, rattling around in his head. he also enjoys a good sea shanty.

 photo a6ebaca5-9812-4081-ac01-2c0aa3696b03_zpsmiss4i7t.jpg

these two are moderately-reformed villains that aquaman has on the payroll, keeping an eye on the darkest parts of the seafloor, where all the weirdest-looking things scuttle. they still dabble in petty crime, but it's more of a habit than eeeevil.

 photo IMG_4996_zpsjd20nad1.jpg

 photo IMG_5001_zpsyibuwxpd.jpg

aquaman keeps this guy around for when he's having a hard day. he's kind of like a court jester, kind of like a stoned hippie optimist. it's just really hard to stay emo when this guy's around. even batman has difficulty keeping in his giggles when he comes to visit.

 photo IMG_4986_zpsrgt0ijhm.jpg

this dog is used for when aquaman needs an undercover agent in the local fur seal population. he can totally control the seals because of ghost shark-logic, but sometimes he just needs an inside man, okay? don't fight me on this.

 photo IMG_5003_zps7aun2k3k.jpg

this guy? i don't know why this guy is around. he's just really damn cute. aquaman's a sucker for cute, you know?

 photo IMG_4999_zpsbyjr4wge.jpg

and that's how we keep our word. mwah!

oh, and why am i referring to all these dogs as "guys?" am i sexist? no, but i'm not about to go researching dog genitals right now, and too many dogs have gender-neutral names, so everything's a boy until i see it pee. the end.

come to my blog!

Wet Dog
by Sophie Gamand
Adorable and funny! The photographer works with rescue shelters taking wet and dry photos of rescue dogs. In this book there is mostly wet dogs but some before and after. At the end of the book there's small photos of each of the fur models dry, also their names, age, breed, and if they were a rescue. In the beginning of the book the author explains how she got started doing this.
The photos are so delightful! I giggled most of the way though the book. Those faces! The side eye looks or evil eyes! Hilarious! Some looked so sad. Most just looked like they might be plotting revenge!
Another wonderful book for gift giving!

I thought nothing could beat photographs taken underwater of dogs diving into swimming pools chasing tennis balls, eyes a 'bulging and jowls a 'jiggling. With this book, however, I have become equally enamored of photographs of dogs immersed (no pun intended) in the ultimate indignity of getting a bath. Irresistible! Not only are the photos hilarious of the dogs soaking wet and covered in suds, but many of then made me laugh out loud all dry and beautified - so appealing is the capture of their gloriously goofy personalities. How could the world possibly survive without the blessing of these beloved creatures?

Basically this is a picture book of, erm, wet dogs. Alright, some of the photos have the dogs with towels, are being sprayed with water, with some of the pooches giving the camera the evil eye and and a silent snarl. Even though I am a dog owner myself, and could almost smell that wet dog stench, I found this book a bit pointless. I have given it an extra star because it encourages people to consider adopting a rescue dog, or at least donate some unwanted towels to your local dog rescue.

Silly, smile-inducing, for the good cause of animal rescuing, and surprisingly provocative at times; this book attempts "elevating dog photography to the status of art", and succeeds in my opinion. I adore how some dogs handle their baths with dignity, while others turn into goblins or get all shy. All in all, with a lot of variety in framing, posing, and expression, this works as both a surface-level coffee-table book, and an art-photography book!

There wasn't alot of writing in here but I super duper loved it! I found this book on a sale shelf in a bookstore and had to take this home. I love how shelter dogs were involved in making this book. This is a perfect coffee table book for every dog/animal lover.

Ah bath time! A call that brings both joy and misery to dog and dog owners alike!

Wet Dog is everything you think it is! Photographs of adorable dogs.

I'm not sure what I like best about this book the dogs or the way the photographs were taken. ( Okay I won't lie the part I like best is the dogs!) But the way the photographs were taken is simply stunning. Half the time I wasn't sure whether I was looking at a photograph or a painting of a wet dog. Let's call it a photograph that looks like a painting.

I loved the end of the book where it gave a little tiny bio of each of the dogs photographed. People have some really strange names for their dogs haha!

Happy feelings and laughter a company every turn of the page in this book. There's not much riding to it all but sometimes that's just what you need. A pick-me-up of looking at adorable dogs!

It also made me realize what it truly means when they say a dog is man's best friend. Dogs often mirror not only our looks but also our actions.

Just like the author of Wet Dog suggest you should always donate to shelters and always ,always, always adopt!

Wet Dog is adorablely perfect!

Ok, so this is a weird review. And yes i know I’m probably going to get some hate for giving primarily a picture book 5 stars but this is a book that just gives me pure joy.
A little bit of history on me and my past life before bookstagram; I had my own grooming salon and pet shop for 9 years before the pandemic hit and still super proud that I managed to pick up a few awards and friends along the way.

I’ve always loved working with animals and a wet dog will always make me smile.
What are your favourite books that just bring you pure joy to look through?

Filled with fantastic photos of dogs, all wet. This is definitely a book that makes one feel-good. I want to let others feel good by reading. I plan to pass it on and ask others to pass it on when they have completed. I won this book at the American Brittany Rescue dinner at Sea Shanty Friday night April 26, 2019 (along with a pair of socks with Brittany dogs on them.) It would make a great coffee table book.
