The day of reckoning.
It comes for every man, eventually.
Exposing darkness, destroying loyalty, and sparing nothing.
When my day arrived, I lost my religion and my club.
All I have left is my bitterness and anger.
And her.
I could ruin her, just like everything else.
But she won't stay away.
Alone, we are at rock bottom.
Together, we've got no choice but to rise again.

If you’ve read any books from Janine Infante Bosco, then you may already have met Pipe. He’s the SGT at Arms and Jack’s right hand. He’s the one who calms the demons in Jack’s head. If you haven’t read one of her books, then you’re in for one hell of an incredible introduction.

Pipe is lost. Everything that meant something to him now has no meaning. After a tragedy strikes the club, Pipe’s life is in ruins. He’s lost his wife and he’s lost his way. Removing his patch, he hasn’t gone nomad. Nope, he’s off to rediscover who the heck he is now and try to move through the grief that has now consumed him. The last thing he needs is a nosey neighbor and her kids to boot. So he thinks.

It’s from the ruins they will rise.

Layla is recently divorced and is trying to make a new life for herself and her three children. Life’s hard but she tries to make the best of a tough situation. After moving for the third time within a year, she’s determined to make this time stick and provide some stability for her family. But there’s a brooding, dark, and rude man next door who causes a bit of a hiccup to her peaceful plans. However, she sees him. Like really sees him. She can see his pain and hopes to discover its source and provide some solace. Layla was truly a beautiful person. No less beautiful than Pipe.

In order to rise up, you have to fall. It’s a fast and furious descent that renders you speechless and leaves you staring up at the heavens wondering how you’ll ever climb this hurdle.

One of the things I love most about this author’s writing is how she creates and develops her characters. They’re beautifully flawed and insanely easy to relate to. Take Layla for instance. Any woman who finds herself with the job of raising her children almost entirely by herself can see themselves in Layla. I know for sure that I did. Being a single mom isn’t glamorous and it isn’t easy. Not only do you have to take steps to ensure that your children don’t suffer from the loss of what used to be, but as a woman your insecurities are your worst enemies. How do you move on? And when someone does come along, someone you would like to take a chance with, how do you juggle being a mom and a woman? It’s a difficult balance and the author didn’t sugarcoat it at all.

Now Pipe took me by surprise. I assumed he’d be so far from reach that it would take ages for Layla to touch him. But that wasn’t the case. He was able to see his way out pretty quickly and it was all due to the almost instantaneous connection he shared with Layla and her children. And when this man came out of his shell… when he allowed himself to feel… when he acknowledged that he didn’t die with his wife and that it wasn’t his time to go but to live… oh man, this dude showed up!! Pipe has always been loyal, tried, tested and true. But when it came to Layla and those kids, he became so much more than just the SGT at Arms. More than the poor boy from horrific circumstances that tried to make the most of the opportunities he was given. He became the right man for his new family. Whether it was fixing the plumbing, taking a little girl to a dance, or recreating a bedroom to make someone happy, he was all in. I couldn’t have asked for better.

This book was a bit different from those I’m used to from this author. It had less action and more heart. But I’m not over here complaining. Not one bit. Because the author always shows heart in her writing and this story showed it the most. Maybe because it hit some personal points for the author. Maybe because it hit some personal ones for me. I’m not sure, but it was definitely one of my favorites so far. So if you’re a fan of motorcycle club romances or a fan of second chances, I highly recommend adding this book to your list!

5 Truth Stars!!!!!

Janine’s books have my heart by the balls….if my heart had balls…you know what mean.

So, me and Janine were talking the other day over a glass of wine. Well, Janine wasn’t there, but my kindle was…same thing. And Janine was like, “Hey, girl! I’m gonna make you cry your eyes out!” and I was like, “Girl, nah uh!” and then she was like, “Cry, Bitch!” and I was like, “Leave me, alone, Janine!”…and then I’m already crying by 10%. I am NOT a girl who likes to read sad books. I wouldn’t call her books sad. I would call them REAL. She always includes some type of real issue, and it doesn’t matter what “issue” she is including in the story, she always pulls and pulls until my heart breaks from her words alone.

Pipe is struck with tragedy several books ago, in the worst way. He already didn’t have a shiny life before, but he was given a glimpse of happy before another tragedy. He’s known way too much loss for one person. He escapes and leaves the only family he’s ever know. Who can blame him? He lost everything. He is a broken man who has no idea how to deal.

Layla. She is a single mother of three. These kids. Love ‘em. I’m super picky about kids in books, and these kids had so much character and were essential in pulling Pipe from the ruins. Layla is also just trying to get through each day. She has been through a not-so-great marriage which ended in divorce. Bitter against all men, she is not ready for Pipe….at all.

Pipe and Layla are neighbors who hate each other (love this trope!). Neither of them are in a good place. They are just trying to stumble through life. Layla has a few more smiles left, so she isn’t afraid to give those smiles out to those who deserve them, and Pipe starts to crave her smiles. When Pipe rescues her and the kids from a couple of household disasters, the ice begins to thaw between Pipe & Layla. They eventually find solace in each other in the form of hot, crazy sex (yes, please!), forgetting their issues for even a brief amount of time.

The only way to describe how Janine’s books make me feel is by sharing this memory. One of my favorite memories that will stay with me forever…I was on the back of my Dad’s Harley. We were riding in the dark on the way home from an outside concert at a winery, and we were listening to one of our favorite songs. At the time, we thought my dad had cancer. Little did we know a couple weeks later, we would find out that by a miracle, he did not have cancer. Anywho, the wind was in my hair. The rumble of the motorcycle beneath me. The stars above me. This memory is SO MUCH. And THAT feeling is Janine’s books.

Janine is THAT author. That author that you don’t know is AMAZING. That author who will make you FEEL. Will make you LIVE through her characters. Will make you CRY. Will make you LAUGH. And you will regret not reading Janine’s books. Don’t regret it. Read her books.

Thank you, Janine, for sharing a part of yourself in this book. I will never grow tired of your words. One day, I will hug you (maybe for an awkward amount of time) and thank you personally.

I saw where one reviewer wanted to know how this author's books could just keep getting better with each new book and I feel the same way. I did not want this book to end and I know I'm going to re-read it very soon. I've followed this series and these characters seem to grab hold of me and not let me go. But it should be noted this book can be read as a stand alone. If you read the entire series I can assure you will want to be "Property of Parrish", the president of the club.
Pipe has faced devastation with the death of his wife and leaves the club angry and feeling guilty because neither he nor his club protected his wife. He gives up his patch and forsakes all of his brothers but Jack the Bulldog doesn't let him go so easily. Pipe makes a shrine of those red shoes and goes on a self destructive path. Then his world is shaken when Layla and her three children move into the house next door. Layla is trying to prove to herself that she is worthy, independent after getting out of a bad marriage. The relationship between Pipe and Layla builds slowly and they both rise from their own ruins. It's a second chance at life, a chance for redemption and a chance for a deep, true love that makes them both better people. Yes, Pipe finally lays Oksana to rest and leaves her in the past but he will always have a place in his heart for her. Layla understands this and is fine with it. I especially loved Pipe's relationship with the kids. His actions with those kids showed exactly what a good man he was.
I highly recommend this book as well as the books preceding it. I can't wait for the story to continue with another one that becomes "Property of Parrish." I swear I love that Jack Parrish. This is the best book I think I've read this year.

ARC provided by the author in exchange for my honest review. Thank you Janine! And thank you, Jennifer for sending me this bad boy!!

We're back....
This time, it's the story that has been plaguing my mind since I learned about Pipe.
If you've read the previous stories, then you know who Pipe was and who he was married to. Pipe and Oksana were happily married, yet, his brothers constantly made fun of his marriage at every turn.

If you've also read previous stories, then you are also aware of what happened to Oksana during Jack Parrish's wedding.

After the demise of his wife, the question that I kept asking myself was, "What the hell happened to Pipe?" "Where did he go?"

Well, in From the Ruins we find that all out!

This story took a bit of a softer tone that I think I needed when it came to Pipe. After all that he went through and giving up on his "brothers", all events that took place in his life were necessary.

See, Pipe did not think he could ever forgive himself for what happened to his dearly departed. He didn't want to move one. He didn't care if he ever moved on.

Then came Layla - his neighbor with sass for days and brass knuckles to boot. Layla and Pipe's first impression of each other occurs the night after he's just buried his wife. To say they wanted to choke each other would be an understatement.

Layla also came with a hefty package - three kids that Pipe did not care to know at first.

Layla herself is now a single mother, divorced, struggling to make ends meet and to keep her sanity with a 16 year old, a 13 year old and 5 year old. She wanted to move on from her past for both her sake and her children's. And the crotchety bad boy next door was not part of the plan...ever - or so she thought.

To watch the development of Layla and Pipe's (aka Lee Jameson) relationship was absolutely enthralling from beginning to the end. To see how both were able to lean on each other when neither cared to admit was touching. To see how both intermingled their lives with one another was breathtaking.

This series never fails to amaze me. Each story is unique on it's own, yet, the fact that all of our past faves make appearances and leave footprints is appreciated.

But our happy endings are not over yet. There are still a few of the Satan Knights that need true love as well.

Wolf...it's your turn (I hope!!!).

Sigh....how do her books just keep getting better and better? Every time I read a book by Ms. Bosco, I think she can't get any better than this. Every book is just better and better. She puts so much heart into her stories that they stay with you long after you put the kindle down.

I have been patiently waiting for Pipe's story, I just knew it would be an emotional read. And I had no idea who the author could dream up that would be the perfect woman for Pipe. Layla is beyond amazing, as a woman and as a mom. She was exactly what Pipe needed to get himself back to the land of the living.

You don't necessarily need the previous to enjoy this story, but I truly feel you get a better idea of what it means to be property of Parrish if you read about the other couples.

So read this one!

FIVE PLUS STAR RATING!
Pipe/Lee has never had it easy, he has been a casualty of life far more than he would desire.
Learning about the events that has transpired and made him the MAN he is today also inspired me as a reader that even though life knocks me down, I have to get back up. His story isn't an easy one, maybe that's why he was paired up with the perfect woman. Layla.
She is divorced, has three kids and she is working it. Layla is a woman I aspire to be when life keeps on going. The first meeting between Pipe and Layla was not the best, he yelled at her son for smoking a joint and touching his bike, she then threatened him to knock him out with her brass ring if he ever was to yell at Tommy again. So maybe that wasn't the perfect meeting but that's okay. They both redeemed themselves. I did not expect to fall in love with this story and now I'm left wanting kids. Thanks A LOT. With Pipe's unconventional ways and his loyal convections he was able to bend his own broken heart and prove that he is worthy of a second chance at love. He proved that sometimes you just need to show and up and just be there. After reading this novel, I will be giving other books from this author a try!

This was a great book. It was emotional and sexy. It does has some things that some will not like. Death of a spouse and sex scenes with other woman. There is zero cheating though and it worth reading those scenes to get to the man that Pipe (Lee) truly is.

4.5 STARS for this one. Wish Goodreads would allow us to give 1/2 stars! I really did love this story, the 4.5 * is really because when our H/h meet, I just felt as though their attraction to one another could have been fleshed out a bit more, with the state we find our H in at the beginning, I just think he put all his woes behind him a bit too easily to be believable. But maybe I'm wrong.
Having said that, I really did enjoy Pipe's story and I desperately wanted him to find his happy ending. I'm not quite sure how Janine's reading order goes, this book is not officially part of the Nomad series, but Pipe is in the Nomad stories and this is his side story running in parallel with what's going on with the rest of the Satan's Knights MC members. After a tragic event that happened within the Satan's Knight MC club, Pipe gives up his patches and turns his back on his MC brothers, blaming them for what happened. He retreats to his hideaway to lick his wounds and drown in sorrow, but he doesn't get much of a chance when he finds people have moved in next door....
A divorcee and her 3 kids trying to make ends meet, Layla having come out of a 17 or more year marriage. I really loved Pipe and Layla, it was a fiery beginning for them, at loggerheads for their first few meetings. Then when they finally got it together, it was hot and heavy anytime they could get a minute to themselves but there was also a tenderness Pipe gave to Layla that just made me melt. One of the best parts about the book is Layla's kids, I loved reading the development of their relationship with Pipe. Overall, definitely a great read and if you read the Nomad series first, there is no way you can pass by this book because you have to know what happened to Pipe!

From The Ruins by Janine Infante Bosco is an emotional second chance in life romance between two mature souls who never saw it coming. This story can be read as a standalone but it's better enjoyed read with the others in Janine's Satan's Knights. I've been waiting for Pipe's story for ages and Janine did not disappoint!

After a horrific event, Pipe is lost and doesn't want anything to do with his club and the only family he's known. Try to forget the pain, Pipe leaves the island and hide out further out of town where he can down his pain in women and booze. Layla only wants to make a new safe life for her and her children after her divorce but everything isn't coming up roses. Layla can't stand her new neighbor but can't stay away from him either drawn to his rugged dark nature.

I'm at a loss for words with Pipe and Layla's story. I knew it was going to be emotional and heart-wrenching but this story gutted me and then pieced by heart back together. Pipe wasn't just a delinquent turned biker but a child who's life was taken from him and fights to survive. Getting to know his character a little deeper draws you in more to his heartbreak and why his loss effects him so hard. Layla's character honestly was the perfect yin to Pipe's yang. Layla is a strong woman, feisty, mature character that you can't help but fall in love with her and her three kids. I loved every chapter of this journey. 5 "Towel Bar" stars for In The Ruins by Janine Infante Bosco

Another great book in this series!! If you haven't already read the previous books in this series don't read this.

We know Pipe lost his wife in the bombing and he quit the club. He was mourning and he was mad of course. I think he was a bit mad at himself because even though he loved his wife they really didn't know each other well even though they had been married for years. He put the club first.

Just because you have loved and lost doesn't mean you will be alone forever.

Layla is a divorced mother of three children. She has her hands full. Having moved from the city to the country area to work for an old friend of hers. After her first marriage she never wants another man in her life again. She took care of everything for the kids while married, she can do it while single. If she can just find a decent place to live. Just when she thinks she has she finds she has the most rudest neighbor ever. An ex biker who brings home girls half his age and they wreck her car. She just can't catch a break. At least said neighbor is now going to fix her car.

See if Pipe can stay away from the club.

PERFECTION! There really is no other way to put it. Janine Infante Bosco is just brilliant. The truths in this book, both hers and her characters, take this story to an entirely different level. Holding nothing back, she tells these truths. She owns them as do her characters. The story itself is incredible. Janine takes you on one hell of an emotional ride. And while it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah, Janine pulls it all together brilliantly and leaves you begging for more.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

In every man's life there comes a day of reckoning. It's a day of darkness is exposed and sinners are punished for their trespasses. Its a day when Pipe's loyalty is destroyed and he is left in ruins. It's the day Pipe walks away from his club and loses his religion. Whoever said from the ruins they will rise again never walked a mile in Pipe's shoes or the pair of red ones he was left holding.

Layla knows a few things about Pipe. He is bitter, cold, angry and has seen his share of heartache. He has live through tragedy and despair. Pipe is her neighbor. He is also the man she should stay away from. A man who will destroy what is left of her if she gets to close. He is Lee Jameson and I am Layla Milano. This is our story. A story of two people left in ruins and forced to rise again.

Hello Pipe......I have been waiting for you and your story!!! Holy cow what a story it is too. It is so much more than I ever thought it would be and I'm still reeling a day after finishing this book and can't stop thinking bout From The Ruins. Pipe has always through all the previous books I have read from Janine Infante Bosco been a character that I loved and knew that I wanted to know more about. He has suffered such loss in his life. So much more than we as readers of past books were aware of. His childhood absolutely crushed me along with the loss of his wife which all but destroyed Pipe. He is beyond done and he has no problem letting everyone in the club know he is done and to leave him the heck alone. He wants absolutely nothing to do with the club and no longer wants to be "Property of Parrish." Enter Layla who bless her heart had a marriage that has ended in divorce and is a single mother of three trying to care for them and work at the same time but has had to move several times and the last time she ends up living right next to Pipe. If there has ever been a defining moment in two broken peoples lives it is the moment that Layla and Pipe laid eyes on each other. Oh Layla....how I loved your strength, your courage, your heart as a mother and your broken heart as a woman who just wants love and be loved the way they deserve. I loved how she put her kids first in everything. She also has no trouble speaking her mind and I loved that about her too. I've found myself today wondering what their lives would have been like if Pipe and Laya had met years ago and not had to live through what they lived through. I don't know that they would have appreciated what one had to offer the other as much as they do in the book. Struggles make us stronger and devastation tends to be rock bottom and there is no where to go but up. You will just have to read this amazing book to see what their journey entails. I am not giving anything away but I will say that if I was Layla I'd love Pipe myself for just the way he loved my kids like they were his own. He had me there. A mother wants the best for her children and she wants a man to love them just as his own even if they didn't come from his blood. Pipe is an excellent example of a man who fell in love with a mother of three with a sixteen year old son Tommy who needs the example of a good man in his life. A thirteen year old daughter Jenna who we all as girls know is struggling with all the changes in her world and then there is six year old Lexi the girl who draws him as a superhero and stole Pipe's heart in right that second I do believe. He might not admit it but I so knew he was done for right there. Lexi too is hilarious and adds just the right amount of giggles to deal with all the things in this book that will tear year heart out. I can't count how many times I had tears running down my face while reading. I surprised myself since I already knew parts of Pipe's story from previous books but living it all through his eyes just about devastated my poor little heart. A Layla....ooh how I could relate to her for so many reason. Some of them far to personal to talk about in a book review.

Janine Infante Bosco has blown my away once again. Thank you so much for writing this book. Thank you for the moments I will hold in my heart when things seem hopeless or the day I feel especially alone. Thank you for pouring your heart and soul into this book and for sharing yourself with us. I know it couldn't have been easy and I want you to know you have to be one of the bravest, best mommies in the world. If you don't pick up this book and read it you are missing out on one of the best books every written. Trust me too once you do read this one if you have not read any other Janine Infante Bosco books you will be going back and reading everything you can get your hands on. I make it no secret that I love this author. She is my she could write a book about anything and I would devour it with just as much vigor and excitement as I did the first book I ever read from her.

WOW, talk about such a wonderful book!! Janine just keeps showing us with each book how much her talent grows with each book by giving us delivering a book that somehow is even better than the others. Yes this book can be read as a standalone but I so happy that I've read the others so I know how everything has progressed and what everyone's story was. You aren't going to get much MC in this book but it was so beautiful. The fact that Janine put so much of herself just gave it that much more and your heart absolutely breaks because of all the emotion that is in it.

This book was a beautiful story that was about two people that have lost in life in two very different ways but none the less have to figure out a way to go on it life. Layla is the perfect woman for Pipe. She somehow is able to bring him out of his downward spiral when no one else could without realizing exactly what she is doing. Pipe just wants to do whatever he can to forget what he has lost and he is self destructing in the process until a spunky neighbor and her kids come barreling in his life. He can finally forget for a bit what has happened and that is something he loves and he hates. The guilt is so consuming and could put what happiness he could find in danger. Layla is drawn to Pipe but she wants to do whatever she can for her children to make their lives better and with Pipe not being the most reliable that may not be him. The push and pull and constant attitude change from one day to the next may be something she needs to stay away from.

I highly recommend this book and the others in this series. Again, you don't have to read the others, you will still love it but I'm telling you that you will love the others as well. This book has it all. You are going to get heartbreak, devastation, anger, laughs, love, steamy sex, action, and so much more. Janine did such a wonderful job with this book and I can't wait to see what's next!

This is the first book I’ve read from this author…what was I thinking! Why haven’t I read her books before???? I am kicking myself but all of that is about to change. I LOVED this book! Everything about it was perfect; the storyline, the characters, the emotions, and the truths. I love Janine Infante Bosco’s writing style, the storyline flowed effortlessly and the character development was spot on.

I did have a hard time getting into the book at the beginning. There was so much raw emotion and heartbreak that I found it hard to just dive in. Not that the beginning wasn’t good, just for me, that raw emotion was difficult…all I could say was “wow”…but then, there was a moment in the book where it just grabbed me and I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up way too late reading, I slacked off work and housework, hell, I even ordered take out just so I could finish the book; then when I started to get to the end, I didn’t want it to end. So I slowed down reading, trying to devour all the words because I wanted more!! I wasn’t done with these characters and I find myself already missing them.

I felt all the emotions while reading this book; I felt hurt, loss, anger, hope, love, fear…everything. These characters gave me all the feels. I wanted to hug and protect them, I wanted to fight for them and I wanted to kick them (mainly Lee!) in the @$$ countless times. Pipe (Lee) and Layla are the perfect couple. I loved all the interactions they had together; their chemistry was amazing. It wasn’t always easy for them and that’s one of the things I loved most about this book. Real life isn’t easy and you have to work at it.

I adored Layla’s children; each one of them brought a different dynamic to the story. The interaction Lee has with them is hilarious at times and it warmed my heart to see the connection and bond that was formed. Lee didn’t stand a chance. I hope we see more of these characters. I would love to see where life takes them.

Truth, this book will give you inspiration, enlightenment and show you even the broken can rise from the ruins. As a huge fan of the Nomads series and feeling like I became Property Of Parrish after reading them, I thought there was no way Janine Infante Bosco could grab hold of my heart any tighter with her words than she had. Truth, I was wrong, oh so effing wrong!!! From the moment I read the authors note to the readers she had already made me laugh and cry and I hadn’t even started the story. Pipe was a sinner and a man so ruined that he thought there was no return so he threw what mattered the most away, his family, his brothers and his club. What he didn’t count on was a divorced Mum of 3 that in her own way had been ruined. Layla may have been down but in no way was this woman out. She had strength, determination and a heart so big that I don’t even think she realised what she was capable of. In showing Lee that he was more than Pipe she also came to accept that she was braver and more resilient than she gave herself credit for. As these two characters rise from the ashes of their past, it is pure love and truth that finally sets them both free. From The Ruins is about mourning, acceptance, truth, love, risk and family. Janine you took me on one hell of a ride with this book. You made me cry, broke my heart, made me smile and showed me that their is a hidden strength in all of us and when one chapter ends another begins. So for me this wasn’t the end of Property Of Parrish it was just the beginning.

In this book of the series, we get to see more about Pipe, AKA Lee Jameson. From the beginning of the book, my heart broke for the little boy that was Lee Jameson. When the person they knew walked into the clubhouse and blew it up, my heart broke yet again at his reactions to things. What happens to Pipe after that? What causes him to unleash on his brothers? Who are Layla and her children? What happens when they move in next door and Pipe comes home, heading inside? What does Pipe do? The play between Layla and Pipe is fun to read and sometimes frustrating because you want to shout, "GET OVER IT!" or "JUST DEAL WITH IT!" but you know that is not how real life works, so you bite your tongue and wait to see what happens. I waited for Pipe's book after the last book and am so happy to have had a chance to read it. Sometimes there are just books that make your own real life feel trivial for the things you go through when faced with the things these folks have gone through. For me, this was one of those books. Enjoy the read!

Wow what a ride! I especially loved the forward by the author, it really showed heart, quoting Jack here. This book will chew you up and spit you out only to rebuild from the rubble. Brilliant work with so many emotions, one minute I'm ugly crying, the next I'm crying with laughter. I remember reading a review saying that Janine makes these stories seem real and that is exactly what she does, when you've finished you have to bring yourself back to reality.
I would thoroughly recommend this series.

I read the first book in the Satan's Knights Prospect Trilogy, liked it and wanted to check out these books. But man, from the start I didn't care for this one, but I kept reading, hoping it would get better. Sadly it didn't and I gave up. I didn't care for Pipe, didn't like how there didn't seem the feeling of brotherhood. In the end this one wasn't for me.

my first book from Ms Bosco and it won’t be the last

Well written. The book caught my eye and peaked my interest being set in NYC, specially Brooklyn and Staten Island. Greenwood Cemetery, Ralph’s Ice’s, the pizza spot, a couple of places that really tickled my fancy to read about as a native. The story started off with a bang(sorry) and kept building from there.
The upstate scenes where the H & h meet really pulled me in. The human aspects of h struggling with work, raising kids, unsympathetic ex-husband who brings his problems upon himself and spreads misery to those he can’t control and/or depend upon him. He’s a peach. The H is going through his struggles - the stages of grieving his wife; the separation from his friends/life as he tries to deal with his loss alone. Alone, through his own actions, having pushed everyone away in order to further punish himself and at the same time “share the guilt” by blaming them as well.
It’s a tale with layers that are entertaining to witness as they unfold. Most women would not have given Lee/Pipe a second look after he left a bar with two other women(just saying.) The h really took a chance, and it paid off. Only in a Romance. That’s the wonderful thing about romance.

5 RESPLENDENT STARS!!

“It’s from the ruins they will rise.”

Holy Amazeballs!! Five stars does not even come CLOSE to encapsulating how extraordinary FROM THE RUINS, book 1 in Janine Infante Bosco's new Satan’s Knights series, is! It’s the kind of all-consuming book grabs your heart from page one, RAVAGES, then HEALS, the soul, and keeps you ENTHRALLED up until the very end! This is my first novel from this exceptionally talented author but it Will. Not. Be. My. Last!

This is the PALPABLE love story of two broken souls who rise from the ruins of unspeakable tragedy and despair and fight valiantly to become whole again! After losing his wife in a gory ambush, Lee "Pipe" Jameson vows to avenge her death—or die trying— turns his back on the Satan's Knights club, and holes up in his cabin in the woods determined to drink his way into oblivion. The last thing this grouchy, grief-stricken bear of a man wants is human companionship so when he meets his new neighbor, Layla Milano, a single mother struggling to raise three kids all by herself, he is HARDLY civilized. And she gives him a mighty big tongue lashing in return! The mouthy broad is a prickly thorn in his side but her fiery inner light just might be what he needs to keep him from plunging into the dark abyss.

And even though a fiercely independent Layla is leery of entrusting her heart to another man again, there is something about the primally sexy brute that calls to an elemental part of her. Lee is a shell of a man, wallowing in misery, but she feels compelled to bring him back from the ledge, and in turn, just might mend her own shattered heart in the process. Can these two damaged souls heal each other and find hope, renewal and sweet salvation in each other?

I RELISH books like this that wring every single emotion out of you. I smiled, shivered, squirmed, hurt, cried, felt dread churn in my gut, got giddy butterflies and had to fan myself off on many an occasion! And talk about an epic TRIUMPHING AGAINST ALL ODDS love story!!!!

These characters SLAYED me and left an indelible mark on my heart. And I have MAD, PASSIONATE LOVE for Lee, a true tortured soul who has had a very rough life. The son of an Irish immigrant, he was conceived from a brutal act of violence— “I was born from hell…. and Satan’s blood filled my veins” —and his tragic fate was sealed from the moment he drew his first breath. Although his devoted mother did everything in her power to make sure he stayed on the straight and narrow, after her gruesome murder he found himself lost and all alone in the world, fighting for survival on the streets. After serving hard time in juvie, his entry into Satan’s Knights MC was an answer to his every unspoken prayer, paving the way for his desperately needed rebirth.

“Twenty-odd years ago, I found my religion. I didn’t find it in a church or at some temple. There was no holy figure praying for me, welcoming me into his kingdom as he submerged me in water. There was me. And there was Satan. Dressed in leather, I knelt before his altar and took an oath. Fearing nothing, I vowed to ride through the valley of the shadow of death with my brothers at my side...”

Pipe embraced the MC life and eventually found an old lady of his own to love and protect, honor and cherish. He’d thought he’d finally found his own slice of happiness until she was taken from him in another cruel twist of fate. Drowning in guilt and rage and mind-numbing grief, all he wanted was to suffer in silence until Layla and her brood storm uninvited into his solitary world.

A newly divorced Layla has not exactly led a charmed life either. Yet even though her woeful unhappy marriage to her abusive ex chipped away at her self esteem, she is determined to pave a good life for her beloved kids. And OMG those kids! They were quite a handful and all tugged at my heartstrings—especially troubled 16 year old Tommy and adorable little “Half-Pint!”— and these young’uns not only played a key role in uniting these two unlikely lovers together, but along the way they all became a family worth fighting for.

Their truly was not a dull moment in this book, the feels were OFF THE CHARTS, and the crackling chemistry between this combustible duo was ELECTRIFYING! Although Layla and Lee’s relationship starts off combative, it eventually morphs into a wondrous love that inflames the heart! Speaking of flames…once these two catch fire, they positively smolder!!

As you would imagine with any MC book worth its mettle, it’s got plenty of danger and suspense and flying bullets to keep the adrenaline pumping. And I enjoyed how the close knit culture of the Satan’s Knight’s brotherhood is woven so integrally into the tapestry of the story.

“We’re family, maybe not by blood, but by choice. It’s a thing of beauty to look at a person knowing you chose them and they chose you. For when we die, the blood that binds us will drain, but the imprint we leave on one another’s soul will carry on. It will live within the walls of this clubhouse. It will be the foundation that guides the anarchy of the Satan’s Knights for all of time.”

Bottom Line: FROM THE RUINS is not a sweet, syrupy romance by any means. It’s GUTWRENCHING and GRITTY and UNFLINCHINGLY RAW, but at its core is a poignant, passionate and incredibly uplifting love story about soul deep healing and second chances that strikes a powerful chord! I savored every single broken-hearted and hauntingly beautiful moment, and look forward to more installments in the WILDLY ADDICTIVE Satan’s Knights series!!

When last we saw ”Pipe” he was a broken man. In the blink of an eye a bomb took his wife and left him questioning the price he paid in the name of brotherhood. He turned his back on the men and women he once called family and left his past behind to wallow in misery and wait for the end. Things don’t go as expected though when a newly-divorced woman with three children invades his solitude and has him discovering a new definition of family. Pain and fear of the unknown drives these two older and wiser individuals in a journey full of scorching encounters and unexpected twists and turns.

Lee Jameson’s childhood was a tough one full of sacrifice and death that ended with him in jail. Once out, he found the men of Satan’s Knights and made a name (Pipe) and a life for himself that he thought was enough. Tragedy showed how fleeting happiness is though and left him feeling responsible for the fall-out and running from his past choices. Wallowing in guilt and waiting to die makes him the proverbial grumpy neighbor until the woman and children next door reawaken the heart he thought was dead. He’s full of rage when they first meet him but their intrusions have him becoming more invested in their lives and has him finding a new family to be a part of. He and Layla are a formidable match as she gives as good as she gets even as he tries to push her away. Being part of her family brings out his softer side which endeared him to me and was an intriguing dichotomy to his usual gruff and badass persona. Though he doesn’t think he’s worthy of a second chance at happiness each member of the Milano family shows him how wrong he is in one sweet and charming interaction after another. When danger once again comes calling he’s more than ready to reawaken his deadly demons to keep his new-found family safe. Pipe’s been through a lot of loss in his life, seen his mother and men he called brother die right in front him, and it made me sympathetic towards him. Everything he believed in, everything he’d sacrificed for the Club, was proved to be false and it broke me to see him so broken after seeing him so supportive of the Knights throughout so many books. It was a slow journey towards recovery, towards finding something worth believing in, and I enjoyed the road he took every step of the way. He’s a more seasoned hero but no less sexy and a master of dirty talk. He has a sweet side too and despite his roughness his scenes with Layla’s kids charmed me wholeheartedly and added a bit of heart to a very gritty tale.

Layla thought she had a picture-perfect life but as the years went by her dream grew tarnished. Starting over as a divorcee, and feeling lost and alone, she finds herself becoming slowly immersed in the tormented life of her neighbor. In so many ways he’s wrong for her, but with each sweet word and deed, she finds it easier to make him a part of her family. Though he doesn’t think he’s worthy of her goodness she goes out of her way to prove him wrong. With her kids by her side they slowly wear him down and give him a reason to fight again to keep them safe. She and Lee are an engaging couple as they both enjoy cursing and aren’t afraid to stick up for themselves. Theirs is a sizzling connection teeming with sexual tension and their clandestine encounters were erotically-charged and had me blushing. He challenged her and reminded her that she’s more than a mother in scenes that were empowering for them both. Ultimately, Layla’s an unforgettable heroine who becomes stronger than she ever thought possible, the perfect Old Lady to a badass biker!

Though this story took place in the world of the Satan’s Knights it was all about Pipe moving on from his painful past. It was his journey to put years of guilt behind him to be the man he finally figures out he wants to be. The chaos of the MC wasn’t far behind though as truths came out that put Layla’s life in danger. That danger brought back men we’ve come to know and love despite how rough around the edges they are. Pipe may have turned his back on his brothers, but they never gave up on him and when the Club’s war invades his HEA they ride to the rescue once again in an action-packed and fast-paced conclusion. I don’t normally care for children in romances but Layla’s kids were immensely entertaining throughout this story. Each had a unique personality that brought out different sides to Pipe that had me falling for him even more with each turn of the page. The kid’s antics and speech were realistic and brought a sentimental smile to my face as I remembered my own childhood. Sweet interactions were nicely balanced with scorching adult interludes that kept me fully invested in this heartbreaking and heartwarming tale. Though the conclusion is a definitive one it’s clear there’s more hell to pay in the future as the Club’s nemesis is gaining strength. Yes, this story is about Pipe’s redemption but it’s also about the Club finding its faith...not only faith in each other, but in the power and unending support of Jack Parrish who made them a family from the start. This story gave me a chance to breathe and embrace the happiness before moving on to the next part of the war and I’m eagerly counting down the days until the blood starts shedding again!

From the ruins he shall rise and rise he did It may have taken him a while to come to terms, not only with the tragedy that put him where he is, but also with himself, his club and the rest of his life and the people in it. Lee "Pipe" Jameson had a hard start to his life, but he was loved by the one woman who saw sunshine wherever she went, no matter that they lived in the slums. She always had a smile and made sure to spend as much time as she could with her only son, until she didn't come home. At 16, Lee found himself in juvie after finding his mother dead in an alley. The Foster System couldn't hold him and he got into trouble. But he made a friend in the guy that came to be called Wolf, when he got out Lee would become Pipe, new member of the Satan's Knight MC. He found a family! He had a wife and then tragedy struck him for a second time, ripping away everything that he held dear. He leaves the club on angry, grieving terms and heads out to his cabin. Drinking to try to numb...no get rid of the pain and the memories of a day that was supposed to be joyful but turned bloody. All he had left were his vivid memories and a pair of red high heeled shoes. Oksana's shoes. But fate has a way of stepping in when it is needed and hearing a noise outside he finds a young teenage boy around his bike smoking a joint. This meeting leads to a tongue lashing by the boy's beautiful mother who is moving in next door. Just what he needs!

Layla is a single mother of three who has left the home that they once shared with her husband after a nasty divorce. Forced to do whatever it takes to make her children a home and to be the mother that they need, she moves into the little home that looked much better in the picture than what they are presently standing in front of. The kids are not happy, but she tries her best to put her best foot and face forward and get them to see that things will be just fine, they will be fine. But when you have an angry teenage son, things will be a bit tougher than you think. Throw into the mix the grumpy next door neighbor and you have total chaos.

This is an amazingly well written story, as we have all come to expect from Janine Infante Bosco, that will capture you from page one all the way through to the last line of the book. Prepare for you emotions to ride high and sometimes rough through this story of a second chance at not only love, but of life. The characters she has written are wonderfully well developed, complex, funny, sexy, smart, loyal and charming. You will not only fall in love with the two lead characters, but Layla's children as well. Layla is a strong, smart and dirty mouthed beauty who will do whatever she has to to protect and provide for her children, and that includes facing off to the biker who lives next door, even threatening to use her brass knuckles on him..which in turn earns her the nickname "killer" by Pipe.

Wonderful story that will have you remembering their story for some time to come. I highly recommend this book!

When I review I think carefully about not only how I feel about what I have read but also about how to convey that to those of you who may read my review and all I can say with this story is that it deserves every single one of the FIVE stars that I would give it, it was knock your socks off fabulous!
I wanted Pipe’s story to mean something, to reach in and wring every ounce of emotion from my heart and it did just that.
I had palpitations with the depth of emotion that the author drew from me, emotion that spoke to me and make me want to reach out and hold a man that was suffering, to keep a place in my heart for a man that had not only been through more pain than most but that had fought to survive. Pipe had hit the bottom of his own barrel and even through the darkest of days, he fought to put on foot in front of another, the loss of his wife was more than his soul could take or so he thought because little did he know that fate had a plan for this glorious man…fate had Layla up its sleeve and when he met this beautiful pocket rocket, it was obvious that his life may never be the same again…well I hoped not anyway!
Layla was a firecracker but she had reason to be, she was single mom to three kids so finding time for the sensitivities of others wasn’t exactly high on her agenda, she calls it as it is and with Pipe that is probably for the best. I loved the fact that she didn’t hold back, that she unleashed her tongue with monotonous regularity and had a filthy mouth…you go girl!
Layla had been through the mill in more ways than one, her life had, had more than its fair share of ups and downs. But she loved unconditionally and once they both let their guards down, the explosion that was their relationship was simply superb! They owned their pasts but in doing so they also were able to forge a future that was just perfect for them. It wasn’t all sweetness and light, I never expected it to be because this pair grabbed their life by the you know what’s and fought to make that work.
The angst and attitude was absolutely on point, the connection between them was as tight as could be and with kids thrown into the mix, the creation of a relationship that was the foundation for a m=family was handled with both humour and sensitivity. I adored the connection between Pipe and Layla’s children but when you have a cutie like Lexi on your hands, it would have been impossible for him not to have been smitten, I know I was.
An Awesome addition to the stable of an author who is fast becoming a go to read!

If you’ve read Ms. Bosco’s Tempted series or her Nomad series, you know Pipe and why he’s in ruins, but if you don’t, don’t worry that I’ll spoil anything for you because I won’t. I’ll just say that ever since his ruin, I have wanted Pipe to get a happy ending and when I realized that From the Ruins was his story, I absolutely could not wait to read it! I tell you, I was so excited for this book, even more than normal when it comes to a Janine Infante Bosco book. And From the Ruins shattered my expectations and was even better than I was hoping for. It was truly outstanding and I wholeheartedly loved it!

Layla is my kind of woman! She’s strong and fierce, she doesn’t back down, she speaks her mind and she doesn’t feel the need to make those words pretty or censored. She’s protective of her people and always tries to do her best and never gives up. Layla is a force to be reckoned with and it’s no wonder that Pipe couldn’t resist a wonderful, generous soul like hers. I adored Layla and she’s without a doubt one of my favorite heroines, although I think it’s safe to say that she is my favorite out of them all - I just completely loved her!

And Pipe! Oh my gosh, seriously, I’ve always liked Pipe, I probably even loved him, but where did this Pipe come from?! The man is sexy as sin - I honestly had no idea, but I totally blame that on my crazy mind - but I loved Pipe for so much more than his physical allure. I can’t even tell you about him because I don’t want to spoil what he’s like for you, not that I’m sure I could do him justice if I tried anyway. Pipe wormed his way into my heart and completely stole it - I fell in love with that man so hard and he is definitely my favorite hero!

From the Ruins can be read as a standalone, it’s told from Pipe and Layla’s POV, they do get their happy ending, and now here’s some Truths:

Truth, From the Ruins broke my heart and made it ache. It made me want to cry and pull out my hair at times.
Truth, while there is darkness, there is so much light and warmth in this book too.
Truth, From the Ruins made me laugh and smile and grin so much and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading it or how much I fell in love with it.
Truth, From the Ruins is beautiful, epic, and full of truth and love and most of all, heart.
