TAKE YOUR SHOT is a great easy to read book that contains some serious messages for anyone working hard at building a business. A quick and pleasant read, however, I would not call it a book, more like an advertisement booklet. And the main author's message would be: hire me as your business coach.

It doesn't look like there is any significant amount of work done by the author to bring unique conclusions, insides or recommendations. Only if you never read a book on business development topic this booklet can give you some ideas.

A very glib entrepreneurship story. The author describes himself, his possessions and attire positively through the mouth of his main character, which is so cringy I don't really know what to say.

The gist of the book is that you can charge a lot more for your services if you package them as a product.

Robin is amazing! I love how simple yet impactful his book is. It's easily dissectible because it's written as story. I've already started applying the strategies in my online business and see immediate results.

The message and takeaways in this book are clear. They will help you to grow your business especially if it is a service-based one.

You may be wondering how these strategies are proven. Robin, himself, has built the strategies through his own personal business journey. Because he is so convincing, I believe it is worthy of checking out his own services. After I check out his Services I may even update this review with my thoughts on his strategies and his business.

I'm telling you, if you want to improve your online business, or service-based business, read this book and apply the knowledge immediately and you will see results.

Enjoyed Robin's book very much. What a great way to digest very complex subjects in a simplified manner. It makes building a business and achieving your financial goals seem a lot easier than it probably is, but I guess that's the point... I have to give it a go and be less afraid of the unknown. I feel motivated to try out some of the techniques. I'd like to become an entrepreneur and "take my shot."

This is the second book I have read like this recently, the first being “The Go Giver: A Little Story about a Powerful Business Idea”. Both have used the medium of storytelling to help sell their ideas to their reader, which is an idea that I think has a lot of potential. When engrossed in a good story, we can become so engaged with the characters that we learn right alongside them without realising we are learning.

However, therein lies the problem with both books; it has to be a good story.

By good I don’t mean this isn’t a compelling story premise, as it certainly could be. By good, I mean it is a story premise placed into the hands of a talented storyteller who can get the most from this story. This book failed to do that in multiple ways.

First and foremost, it was so focused on its message that it failed to provide a fully fleshed-out story. Conflict draws us into stories, especially conflict on a human level. Exploring Russ’ struggling home life in more detail would create a more compelling reason for Russ to succeed. Expanding on Richard’s role as an antagonist would compound on Russ’ issues and provide the reader with a desire to see this antagonist overcome. Exploring Russ’ character in more detail, experiencing the hardship of his life through his eyes and his hopelessness before David, would have gotten us more invested in his plight.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of issues that a good storyteller would have brought to the book, and it would have been all the better for it.

That being said, there are good lessons here, and it is an interesting premise I found useful as someone who is in the process of starting up his own business. So on that, at least, I can’t fault this book.

One last place I can fault it though (and one that won’t impact the rating on this review but is worth knowing) is the audiobook performance. The author read this book himself instead of paying for a professional narration. For non-fiction and autobiographical books, this isn’t usually an issue for me. However, this book was written as a story and told in the first person with a full cast of characters, and scenes requiring an emotional performance from the narrator. It’s here where a professional is needed and that was sorely the case here. The author just didn’t have the narration skills to make this sound anything other than the amateur performance it was, and my experience with the book was sorely impacted by this.

Overall, this is a quick read with useful information for small business owners, especially those in some form of service-based business. But it left a lot on the table that would have elevated it to greater heights.

I just finished reading "Take Your Shot" by Robin Waite, and I'm blown away! This book is different in a sense that it uses a fictional narrative about a golf professional, Russ Hibbert, who seeks guidance from a business coach … the story for me then translates into the business advice that people need and want.
The writing style is engaging and relatable, making it easy to read the entire book in a short span.

What resonated with me most was the way robin Waite breaks down the concepts into simple, manageable steps. The book is filled with valuable insights, strategies, and techniques that can be applied to various areas of life, from personal growth to professional development.

The book encourages readers to want to take ownership of their lives, confront their fears, and pursue their passions with courage and determination.

I appreciated the emphasis on:

1. *Embracing fear and uncertainty*: Waite shows us that fear is a natural part of growth and that we can learn to navigate it.
2. *Building confidence*: The book provides practical tips on developing self-assurance and believing in oneself.
3. *Taking action*: robin Waite stresses the importance of taking consistent, focused action towards our goals.

"Take Your Shot" is a must-read for anyone looking to:

- Overcome self-doubt and fear
- Build confidence and self-assurance
- Achieve their goals and dreams
- Develop a growth mindset

I highly recommend "Take Your Shot" to anyone seeking a transformative read. It's a book that will inspire, motivate, and empower you to take control of your life and pursue your passions with courage and confidence.

A very interesting and clear way to get across the ideas if building a business

This is an excellent read. As someone who has read quite a few books that are about growing business, increasing income or earning more while doing less. This, I feel, has been by far the best.

None of the concepts are new, if you have done any research in this area, what is so great us how the are demonstrated, that is the true greatness of thus book. All of the key ideas are explained in such a simple way that anyone can relate to and see how it can map across to any business.

If you are looking at how to increase business, get your life back and get better clients I can honestly say this is a book to help you move forward with those goals

Must Read for Anyone in Business

Take Your Shot is a no-nonsense book with practical steps that can help anyone who is willing to put in the effort. Robin highlights the importance of creating actionable steps and developing realistic strategies that actually work. I gave the book 5 stars because I applied the steps as I read them, put it into action, re-evaluated where I had made mistakes, and since then I have seen massive improvements to how my business is received and sparking further interest. The book felt like a passion project that Robin set out to do, but I wonder if he knows the hope and joy he has inspired with his writing.

I’d recommend this book for everyone - especially youngsters who want to get ahead of the game.

Take Your Shot is life-defining!

Even better the second time around!

Just re-read Take Your Shot as I’m starting to brain storm ideas for a couple of new service packages. I was a fan the first time around, but I found it even more powerful coming back to it a few years later. Brilliant in its simplicity, as soon as you finish the book, you have all you need to start sketching out a pathway to designing some incredible products/packages of your own. A must read for anybody who provides a service or who wants to understand how to create short and long term revenue beyond what you could previously conceptualize. Thanks Robin!

I received this free for signing up to Robin Waite's newsletter and have to say I'm very impressed. I thought it would just be filled with cliché sayings and quotes. But it tells the very simple story of a Pro Golfer who wanted to make his hard work actually pay. He meets a man called David whose a Business Coach who changes his life forever. It's short and it's simple, but it also felt rather informative and motivational.

Have definitely come away from it with some interesting ideas and motivation to continue plowing on with my own side-hustles.

This book really takes you through someone’s business from start to finish and shows what they were doing wrong and how they fixed it and are now doing it right. It has other great reading suggestions at the end for growing your business and what specific avenues they help in. Anyone starting or in the middle of owning their own business needs to read this book. At 12 chapters it’s going to be one of the easiest and most profitable reads of your life.

I recommend this book to anyone with a business or looking to start one.

This is a quick and easy read. The content is easy to digest and provides some nuggets that ca be applied to any small business. The story centres around the main character Russ Hibbert and how his business and career aspirations change after encountering a business coach.

The book asks the question “How can I make more money, attract more clients, and grow my business”. To this end, the book gives you some food for thought to start the journey, which for new business owners and those considering starting a business makes it a good starting point.

A very good read for those stuck in a rut and feeling a little lost in their business and personal life. I'm not an avid reader however this was a great book to stoke those fires again. Totally hooked into the storyline and have certainly put some of the wisdom learned into play in my business life. Thank you Robin for sending the book, I can and have already recommended this book to a number of friends, clients and family.

If you don’t read, then read this.

I don’t read enough but this book was hard to put down. A simple and effective story with a deep lesson of self belief but most importantly that it’s ok and needed to get help to grow your business. It’s ok and you deserve it. An easy and uplifting read for anyone looking to start or grow their service-led business.

Really great book, simple, quick read, clear message. Nothing too complex or hard to follow. It was very engaging and easy to follow, I managed to read it in a very short space of time.

Robin has an amazing ability to take something complex and daunting and turn it into an easy read book with real world examples.

Useful framework if you run a consulting/services business

Many useful tips to convert your services business into a product one. Like most business books, it talks mostly about the happy path and papers over the risks.
If you can take the good and ignore the bad, this book offers enough good insight

Read this book over the weekend and absoluely loved it. The style of writing meant there were little nuggets of gold on nearly every page. A nice short read that was straight to the point. No fluff, just quality information. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to get more out of their business.

I was a little skeptical how a story about a golf pro could translate to me being a cat specialist but once I sat down and gave it a go I was hooked. Simple and quick to read with lots to think about. My highlighter pen got a good workout and I’ve started making some notes on ways to grow and improve my business by adding courses and a membership. Can’t wait to see where this takes me next…

I’ve just started my business and need to get some clients, this book was brilliant and made me realise that i need to make some changes. Instead of offering an hourly rate I need to package up my services and sell them as products - it makes total sense.

The feel-good, BS story used by the author to convey his message is really extremely annoying; however the content, which is just a rehashed summary of the most common sales book, is ok. At least it is a short book.

Most books that provide business advice get technical and drag on. Take your shot manages to convey its message through an easy and relatable story about an average guy growing his business. Highly recommend to anyone wishing to get into entrepreneurship.

Brilliant read! Full of nuggets of business wisdom in a story format that makes it memorable. I love how relatable the book is to most service-based business owners who need to step back and work "on" their businesses rather than "in" their businesses. Highly recommended.

I read this in one sitting !

One of, if not the best business book I’ve read. Full of actionable insights that any service based business can benefit from. Super relatable and easy to read. There are clear takeaways in every chapter - not just another business book repeating the same idea.

I am not a fan of the parable genre in nonfiction. The books tend to be unrealistic and trite.

This is the exact opposite. It's a short read with a lot of solid information to help build a business. The story moves along well and drives the points the author makes. Enjoyable, informative read.
