T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier never dreamed that a single person would ever read a word she wrote when she published her first book. Now, she is a eight-time USA Today bestselling author and her books have been translated into numerous languages and published all around the world.

T.M. enjoys writing what she calls ‘wrong side of the tracks romance’ with morally corrupt anti-heroes and ballsy heroines.

Her books have been described as raw, dark and gritty. Basically, what that means, is while some authors are great at describing a flower as it blooms, T.M. is better at describing it in the final stages of decay.

She loves meeting her readers, but if you see her at an event please don’t pinch her because she's not ready to wake up from this amazing dream.

SAWYER
I decided that as much as I didn’t want to, I’d ask Finn if I could use his shower. Unfortunately, I was almost to his door when one glance was all it took for me to realize why asking him would be a very, very bad idea.
First, because Finn’s shower was outside on the left side of his porch.
Second, because he was already in it.
Third, because he was very, VERY naked.
Finn stood under the spray with his hands flush on the side of the house, letting the water cascade over the back of his head and shoulders, dripping down every inch of taut muscle on the way to his rounded backside and strong thick thighs. His eyes were closed tightly as if he were deep in thought.
I’d meant to turn around and run the other way or at the very least cover my eyes. And in my head, that’s exactly what I did.
In reality, I stood there, gawking, unable to look away until Finn cleared his throat, breaking me out of my trance. I looked up to find him standing there, staring back at me as he lathered up his naked body. He stepped back under the spray. The suds rinsed away, traveling down to the deep V crease that pointed to the private place between his legs. My mouth went dry.
And then there it was.
Long.
Thick.
I stopped breathing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2! The Outskirts, book 1 of 2. A sweet & engaging romance about second chances, not just at love but at life, as two lost souls find love & healing in the Outskirts!

“The suds washed away, trailing down to the deep V pointing to the private place between his strong thighs.
And then there it was.
Just hanging there.
Long.
Thick.
I stopped breathing.”

Books in duet should be read in order:
Book 1: The Outskirts
Book 2: The Outliers

The Outskirts (book 1) opens up to Sawyer Dixon, Say running away from home. Raised by a religious extremist she escapes with the clothes on her back heading to the Florida swamp, the Outskirts, as directed by her mom. She literally runs into hermit Finn Hollis.

Finn has also run away, from tragedy and his past. With Say’s arrival, his whole life is thrown off its axis. In fact, the whole town of Outskirts will never be the same.

Off to a bad start, the story follows them as Say gets situated living next-door to Finn. A friendship of sorts is formed while they fight their attraction and cope with painful pasts set against the backdrop of an unfolding mystery in a town with many secrets.

Seven words to describe Finn Hollis: Broken, flawed, moody, recluse, chivalrous, unassuming and possessive.

Seven words to describe Sawyer Dixon, Say: Naïve, sheltered, reflective, trusting, strong, innocent and determined.

The Outskirts, told from dual POV, is a sweet love story about the healing power of love with a broken recluse of a hero, an abused yet resilient heroine and many endearing side characters. It ends with a cliffy leading right to book 2, The Outliers for the conclusion of their story.

“If I was wrong, and it turned out that kissing was punishable by an eternity at the devil’s side, then kissing Finn might just be worth the risk.”

What an intensely depressing beginning to a story.................

We are introduced to Sawyer on the day of her mother's funeral and it is obvious she is part of a weird organized religious group. Her father believes women are inferior and is very physically abusive but when Sawyer finds the 'secret' box her mother left for her she knows what she needs to do.

Well Finn, he is one messed up dude. We meet him while he's in the middle of a heavy drinking session. Finn hasn't been the same since losing the love of his life. He has hidden himself away in his swamp house, drinks too much and talks to someone who isn't there. but his life is about to change when a strong willed, freckled stunner plonks her trailer next door.

 photo finshouse1_zpsqo7ti58p.jpg

You know those books the books that take no effort to read? 1 minute you're at 5% the next thing you know you're at 50%, this was one of those books for me. I can't list all the things I liked because I liked it all and I can't list the things I hated because there was none. So I guess this was a perfect read for me.

This is the story of two lost souls, one naive and innocent and the other had simply lost their way. Finn and Sawyer's story captivated me from the first page. I liked both Finn and Sawyer but I think I liked Josh just that little bit more, I hope we get more of Josh and Miller.
"Girl, you best stop talking or we won't even need to go out because I'm just gonna stay here and fall in love with you."

If you have read other books by T.M. Frazier you already know she can write but I think she kicked things up a little with this one. She was able to transport me to the small forgotten town of 'Outskirts' and put me amongst some amazing scenery and characters.

When we get to the ending, WOW!!! Full of drama and twists then........................The End.

OMG, I need 'The Outliers' now!

Miller’s bright white sneakers caught my attention. I was curious how he kept them so clean in Mudville, USA.

For those who would like to know. Let me interest you in a little fact about my brain. It likes to be idiotic sometimes and gets me all hyped getting into a book that a lot of the people I trust on Goodreads has given 5 star ratings for. It then proceeds to be a complete and utter failure in keeping its promises.

Finn, meet Goodreads.

Great, you guys have met. Now I'm going to go ahead and break down what a fucking issue this kid brought to my reading experience.

Right from the get-go, there was something very unsettling about Finn. The best way I can even begin to describe him is - you know when you put a really bad sunscreen on for a beautiful day out. And then you go out and theres this irky feeling on you because the sunscreen that's on your skin is super greasy and you can't enjoy your beautiful day anymore because all you can think about is scrubbing the living daylights out of yourself?

description

Nope... Just me?

I think one of my least favourite trends in some New Adult novels is when the character gets away with doing something creepy because he/she is good looking.
This was the case for me in The Outskirts

Alex attempts to break down the : "I will give you gas money if you run me over" moments she had while reading this piece of literature.
Note: one of my favorite friends is called sarcasm.

1) Finn walks into Sawyers trailer at night, and Sawyer wakes up and doesn't give a teeny tiny fuck. But it's okay, have you seen his V- Line? Also, later when he 'has' to undress her and she is awake and says no, he carries on doing it? There were so many different shades that screamed out "VIOLATION OF DAMN PRIVACY" but don't worry you guys. It was said in a sexy way. All that counts.

2) “I’m going to kiss you whenever I want to kiss you,” Finn stated as if I didn’t have a say in the matter. "
description

3) “For a girl who’s so fearless at times, you sure are a bit of a chicken shit when it comes to storms. I aim to help you fix that. Let me help you fix that.” His words caressed my skin, soothing my fears and igniting a fire in my body.
- Because being called chicken shit is really attractive folks. We all just didn't know until now.
- She has a legitimate fear of storms because the domestic abuse she has been through and he is mocking that.

4)"With those words, he toyed with the outer lips of my sex, strumming them like guitar strings."
I'm sorry but what? BAHAHAHAH... I am still laughing my ass off at this line. It's supposed to be sexy? Just picture it. Oh my dear god, DeCeaSeD.
description

5) I found there to be a lot of breaks in the writing and although this is a very tiny problem and it can happen to any writer, it did leave me confused. For example: “What is your safe place called, Mommy?” “It’s called Outskirts, but that’s our secret. You can’t tell a soul, not even your father.” “I won’t. I promise.”
Buttttttttt earlier on when Sawyer found the box, she said she never heard her mom mention the place.

6)Hey there, cringe my old friend
“My first time. I wanted it to be you. With YOU,” I said. “I…I WANT you.” The words were barely out of my mouth when Finn’s lips covered mine again.

This was not for me. I like my sunscreen smooth.

The Outskirts is the first book in TM Frazier’s newest duet, and OMG after finishing it I’m dying for the conclusion! I wouldn’t call it a huge cliffhanger, but that twist at the end has me so anxious to find out what happens next!

Sawyer has not had the easiest life. Growing up with an overly religious and abusive father, and a mother without a backbone… she’s had it hard. She finally has an opportunity to get away from that life, so she takes it. And it takes her straight into the small town known as the Outskirts in Florida. Sawyer is a little on the naive side. She doesn’t have a lot of experience with anything, but she’s a good person and she’s ready to live her life.

Finn used to have an incredible life, but a few years ago, something happened to him that has forever changed him. He’s different, and his life is slowly going down the drain. He feels like he has nothing to live for… and then he meets Sawyer. He doesn’t want to care about her, doesn’t want to fall for her, but it happens.
I’ve met lot of girls in my life. A. Lot. Yet there was something so different, so distinctive about Sawyer.

Sawyer is running from her past, towards freedom. Finn is living in his past without a way out. The two of them both have some baggage, but together they help each other heal.

Sawyer is one of those characters you can’t help but love. She’s young, innocent, and sweet. Finn is a damaged man, but you can tell he’s that way because he’s hurting. I loved seeing him come to life again. Say and Finn were great, and I also loved the other characters of Outskirts. Especially Josh and Miller. I can’t wait to see more of them in the next book!

The Outskirts is one of those books I didn’t want to put down once I started reading. It was a fast and easy read, and captivated me from the start! I’m excited to see what happens next!
“You’re better than I ever imagined. You are everything to me. You make me want to be better. You make me better.”

THE OUTSKIRTS: is the first instalment in the ‘Outskirts Duet Series’ by T.M. Frazier in this we meet ‘Finn Hollis & Sawyer Dixon’

Welcome to The Outskirts: Once upon a time, Finn Hollis was known as the lord of the swamp. You either loved him. Hated him. Or feared him. Or lusted after him. Our golden boy. More popular than our own Mayor. Then one day a terrible tragedy drove him deep into the swamp to wallow in his grief. He still comes around from time to time, but sightings of him are as rare as the Swamp Ape. (Swamp Ape - Think of it like a redneck Yeti)

This author fast became one of my favourites when she introduced me to ‘Preppy’ *sighs* the man with the bowtie that we ALL fell in Love with. So I was super excited to get introduced to ‘Finn’ and hoped that he would hit me in the heart like Preppy did. And I was not disappointed!!

We’re first introduced to Sawyer attending the funeral of her mother, a lady that lived in fear, her death shrouded in a dark cloak of mystery. Leaving Sawyer alone with a man that shows no love. scared, alone, nowhere to run to, no other living relatives that she knows of that will save her.

The same day as her deceased mother's funeral she knocks over a pencil cup scattering pencils all over the place, getting on her hands and knees retrieving them she discovers by accident a faded worn shoe box under her bed placed there by her deceased mother. Upon further inspection within is a necklace, keys of various sizes, a polaroid picture depicting a rusty old truck towing a tiny camper van, and deeds to a place in the outskirts which she’d never heard of before. A note explaining that she will find 'Rusty & Blue' in a storage unit. What does all this mean?

A daughter that realises one thing, she never really knew her mother

Growing up in a very disinclined church religious environment ruled by an iron fist of a father, living within a community that is ruled by religion, where the men set the rules and the woman follow.

If I kept on living the way I was. The same way Mother had lived. Subservient. Submissive. Abused. Battered. Then that sermon, those very same generic words and lies about a life she never lived, would be spoken at another funeral someday. Mine.

Slowy a plan formulates and Sawyer seeks her freedom. Learning to drive under secrecy, and running away from a life filled of rules has her making her escape in the rusty truck and small campervan, her destination 'The Outskirts'.

Finn has lost someone dear to him, drowning his sorrows in a bottle of whiskey, wanting to be left alone to grieve and wallow in his own pity. He's been residing in a rickety old swamp shack that's seen better days for the last two years, it sits on a small patch of dry land that resides near a croc infested bayou. He will drive off anyone who comes within distance of his home.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What he didn't figure on was the pint sized redhead with the gorgeous freckles covering her face who wears the most ridiculous clothing he's ever seen in his life, who parks her campervan within throwing distance of his shack.

Sawyer has finally found her own freedom and she isn't going anywhere, she's here to stay.
Living within a stone's throw away of each other, to the dislike they have for the other, over a span of a heart beat neither can ignore the attraction that's building between them. Her infectious endearing love for life pulls Finn out of his slump, they lean on each other's strength, Finn slowly with prompting from Sawyer lets his old friends back into his life. And slowly a love that neither expected to find takes ahold of them.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Once there was a man, a recluse so caught up in his pain he couldn't stand to face the world. Then, the strongest and bravest girl he'd ever met came along with her sassy mouth, and innocent pliable flesh, and made the man want things he hadn't wanted in a very long time. The man told himself he was better off without her, he told himself, it would be best if he went far, far away. Until one day, he couldn't fight against the need to claim her and maker her his.

I go into each book wanting to be whisked away to a unique fairytale world and this author does it again and again, no book by her is run of the mill, you always come away with every box ticked, a unique storyline, new/old characters that you’ll fall in love with, the feels, her story telling and her ability to pull us readers in is what made me fall in love with her writing style from day one. And she never disappoints. Ever. In this I was whisked off to the Outskirts, a ghost town of sorts, it was like I was there, living, breathing, taking in the sights of the township, befriending the people. Seconds, minutes, hours my life ceased to exist as I devoured ever word, every chapter, I fell in love with all characters presented. I want to visit the bar and read all the tings. I want my very own Outskirts.

Before I begin my review, I think it would be fitting if I wrote a “ting.” You may be wondering what a “ting” is and the only way you will find out is by one-clicking The Outskirts NOW!!!

ting

P.S. These “tings” took the story on a whole new level. Bravo T.M. Frazier for incorporating this into the story line!!! With that out of the way, let's proceed onto my review.

The Outskirts is a visceral and utterly gripping love story of the forgotten ones. With her raw and magnetic prose, Frazier ignites all the feels as she takes her readers on an emotional, palpable, and poignant journey of two broken lost souls. Two strangers. One collision. Two hearts intertwining. Two souls becoming one. Buried secrets that could ruin it all. And one outcome.

4ab35082db6aab1454fb32d50b0bbbBecause my mouth is watering to taste you,” he pressed his lips against mine and this time there was no storm to blame or anything else he needed to distract me from. “I want you, Say. So fucking much. More than I’ve ever wanted anything or anyone before.”

Freedom. It is the only thing that Sawyer Dixon wants. For twenty-one years, she has lived a life of obeying her father and the church. But when her mother died, Sawyer saw the opportunity to leave her old life behind and begin anew. When she discovers a box and letter left behind by her mother, Sawyer knew this was it. Her chance to escape her abusive and manipulative father. And so begins, Sawyer’s journey to The Outskirts.

#TheOutskirts

The Outskirts is a small forgotten town that is just a vast land of swamps and abandoned houses. As Sawyer embarks on her new life, she runs into Finn Hollis, the boy that just wants to be left alone.

After a tragedy, Finn doesn’t care much for life. For two years, he was a wandering broken soul who felt he had nothing left to live for and so he escapes and buries his feelings in the swamp. But what Finn never expected was his new neighbor, Sawyer Dixon to ignite a new desire to live.

4ab35082db6aab1454fb32d50b0bbb So what’s the second kind of beauty?”“The kind you can’t stop looking at no matter how hard you try.” Finn lowered his mouth so his lips moved against the tip of my ear when he spoke. “The kind you want to fuck.” I swallowed. “What does that kind of beauty look like?” I asked, breathlessly. Finn’s hand rose on my stomach until his fingers lightly grazed the underside of one of my breasts. “Right now it looks like freckled skin and gold flecked eyes.”

Sawyer is completely innocent and naive. Everything is new to her. Fashion, alcohol, getting a job, making friends and of course, relationships. On their first meeting, Finn and Sawyer didn’t get along at all. She tried to stay away from his moody personality but as neighbors, it was inevitable. Soon Finn finds himself being drawn to Sawyer’s innocence and personality.

#TheOutskirts (1)

As Finn begins to start a friendship with Sawyer, feelings begins to emerge. Feelings of want, desire, and love. Things that Finn never thought was possible until now. These feelings scares Finn to the core but losing Sawyer frightens him even more.

4ab35082db6aab1454fb32d50b0bbb And it wasn’t just a need to take her body that I was fighting. It was a different kind of desire that made me pause. The desire to want to live. The connection between Sawyer and I was like this tangible thing around us. I’d never felt anything like it.”

This love that Sawyer feels for Finn is something that she can’t describe. It was as if he was her soul mate. That missing piece to make her whole and alive. And the same could be said for Finn. But what happens when Finn’s discovers something about Sawyer’s past and her connection to the Outskirts? Can Finn help Sawyer or will Sawyer find herself drowning in the swamps as buried secrets could ruin everything she had known about herself?

#TheOutskirts2

T.M. Frazier took the concept of second chances onto a whole new level. A level of beauty, truth, understanding, and passion. Everything about Finn and Sawyer’s relationship and the bond that transpired between them was visceral. It was a force to be reckoned with. A collision that shook you to the core. It made a once broken heart to beat again. And a heart that never knew love to be loved. The writing was mesmerizing. Gripping. Spellbinding. It was brilliance and poetic sprinkled. As for the story line, it was Frazier’s attention to detail and her broken characters that made this emotional love story memorable. A must read for any one who ever felt lost, forgotten, and hopeless. Trust me when I tell you, Frazier takes romance on a whole new level where vulnerability and passion collide. A story that can not be forgotten.

Every single thing that Finn was doing to me I felt not only within my body, but in my mind, in my heart. He wasn’t just making me feel, he was opening my eyes and it was like for the first time I was able to see clearly.

It’s clear to me after having finished ”The Outskirts” that T.M. Frazier has created another hit series! What I loved most of all about this story was the Hero, Finn Hollis. For the first time T.M. has created a charismatic Hero that doesn’t live his life outside the lines of the law. When we are first introduced to him, his demeanor is rough around the edges but just like the Heroine, you will find it impossible not to feel drawn to him. Ladies get ready to fall in love with Finn!

Sawyer Dixon, at the age of twenty-one, is finally breaking free from the abusive and oppressive life she endured under the reigns of her religious fanatic father. After her mother’s suicide, she comes across an envelope that contains a letter, keys, and a deed to some land in a small rural town called “the Outskirts”. Sawyer is excited for this new chapter in her life, but on her very first night her car breaks down and she is nearly run over by a surly and inebriated man, who she will soon learn also happens to be her new neighbor.

Finn Hollis lost the love of his life nearly two years ago and since then he’s turned to alcohol to help him numb the pain and he’s closed himself off from all of his friends because they are painful reminders of his past. When he sees that the beautiful red head with freckles has parked her camper on his property his first reaction is to behave like a belligerent Neanderthal and order her off of his land. He’s anything but sweet to Sawyer in the beginning but somehow beneath his prickly exterior Sawyer can see the haunted look in his eyes and it calls to her. Something seems to be drawing Finn to Sawyer as well. He feels an inherent need to protect her from the outside world.

Soon enough the two are starting to feel an undeniable spark between them whenever they’re in each other’s presence and once things start to heat up there’s nothing that can stop it.

Finn isn’t the only new person in Sawyer’s life. She ends up meeting a couple of Sawyer’s friends and soon they become an integral part of her new life in the Outskirts as well. Josh is one of Finn’s oldest friends and also on the Outskirt’s police force. She is a fierce woman with a heart of gold. Josh and Sawyer become fast friends and I really loved how quick she was to help Sawyer settle into her new life.

As Sawyer starts to burrow her way into Finn’s heart, she also helps bring him back to the world of the living. He’s starting to feel like the man he was before he was literally drowning in self-loathing and guilt.

Will the two lovers be able to live a life filled with happiness or is the past destined to resurface and bring more unbearable grief their way?

I wish I could give 10 stars to "Huckleberry" and "Tom"!!

T.M. Frazier pulled no punches with this book. We’re caught in the middle of the heart of this story right from the start. These characters were oh so broken. Finn was struggling, isolated and in pain. And the path to his old life seems so very far away.

He’s anything but fine and for two years he hasn’t let anyone in. And then along comes Sawyer. A young woman who carries her own burden of pain, but she radiates her innocence, naivete, wholesomeness and utter goodness for all to see. She brings the missing spark back to Finn’s life.

Suddenly he has to face his own pain. She forces him to start healing without saying a word. She gives him hope and produces feelings inside of him he’s never felt before. As corny as it sounds, she’s the sunshine to his rain.

"I’ve never met anyone like you. I’ve never even seen anyone like you. These freckles… This mouth… You make me want things, Say. Crave things. Things I haven’t thought about in a long time." - Finn

I’m not sure what about these words captured my attention more than any others. Maybe it was because when he said them, Finn was torn between what and who he wanted and a vague sense of hope for his future and the past that had a stranglehold on his present. Maybe it was because Sawyer was completely unaware of her appeal and Finn was the one to slowly but surely enlighten her. Sawyer grew up in a world that hid her very humanity. She was treated as a second class citizen, in her own words. She didn’t know who she was or hoped to be. And yet she and Finn shared a connection that these words cannot even sum up. I really don’t know what it was, but these words were the ones that spoke to me the loudest.

Finn and Sawyer’s story was a slow build but it was completely worthwhile. I loved seeing this brooding, miserable, hottie of a man turn into the sort of man that his woman needed. And I really enjoyed getting to see Sawyer come a bit into her own and discover some of what she’s been missing. These two together seemed fated. C’mon. Their names alone should tell us that, right?! But the author captured their serendipitous meeting with what I viewed as realistic expectations. This wasn’t love-at-first-sight or even a meeting of friends. However, as ill-timed and as negative as their first encounters were, it eventually grew into something more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

Frazier has a sweet habit of getting me to love everyone involved in her stories, not just the main characters. I adore Josh and Miller. They added so much to this story, even if it was comic relief because of their non-stop bickering. I hope their relationship finally takes off and they get their own happy beginning. Even Critter is worthy of a mention and I can’t wait to find out more about his role in everyone’s lives. With that ending, I’m anxiously awaiting the release of The Outliers, Book 2 of The Outskirts Duet, which releases in November.

T.M Frazier certainly knows how to leave you wanting more!! Whether it’s these one of a kind characters who can’t get enough of, to those what the ever loving f*ck of a cliffhanger, this author has always managed to keep us in her grasps with her storytelling and The Outskirts was no different.

Sawyer Dixon has been sheltered her entire life. While most people her age were out partying and going to College, Sawyer was in her own personal hell living with the devil himself better known as Father. After a shocking tragedy that turns her world upside down, she decides to do something that will change her future for the better. Escaping to a new town to start over seems like the only good thing to do and with a little help, Sawyer was on her way to freedom for the very time. But when she runs into the town’s most talked about man, things just got a whole lot interesting.

Finn Hollis is well known around the town of “Outskirts” but it’s the tragedy that made him more famous in some people’s eyes. Now a recluse, Finn is used to being alone with his bottle of Jack and his messed up thoughts that are filled with nothing but regrets and he’s ok with that. Who wants happiness when you could just be a shell of a person right? Running into the town’s newest resident and learning that she’s going to be his new neighbor, has left Finn in a not so nice mood and what do you do when you’re in that kind of mood? You become mean. But Sawyer isn’t going anywhere and Finn just realized that he’s just met his match in every way.

“You make me want things Say, Crave things. Things I haven’t thought about in a long time.

I haven’t been this invested in a story in a very long time and as I’m writing this review, I’m literally counting down the days until I can get my hands on part 2!! I really didn’t want to say goodbye to these characters so soon and I found myself reading at a snails pace for the final chapter because I just wanted to savor it. Finn and Sawyer were perfect for each other. Let me repeat that because I don’t think it was registered the first time I said it. Finn Hollis and Sawyer Dixon was FUCKING PERFECT!!!!! I always have to feel a connection between the main characters and how they operate as a couple and let me tell you, I felt their connection down to my bones! Those two were on fire and I loved every second, every minute that they spent together.

Now for the thing that I hate most in the world. CLIFFHANGERS. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I can’t stand dat hoe!! We have a lot of bad blood between us and she’s always managed to not only send my pressure at a dangerous level, but also has me setting aside some much needed Bail money. So cliffhangers and I don’t mix well at all and this one right here? Had me counting ALL of my money! I know if I get in trouble on the weekend, I probably won’t see a judge until Monday and I ain’t about dat life so I’m going to be a good girl and wait. It won’t be easy, but you know what they say: good things comes to those who wait. And if you’re waiting too long, just drink some wine, it’ll go by faster.

If you’re looking for a new addictive series to start, “The Outskirts” is most definitely for you.

“Then you came around.”

The Outskirts is the first in the Outskirts Duet. T.M. Frazier offers an addictive read full of passion, pain, and hours of pleasure.

description
“I was no longer skin and flesh and bones. I was only feeling and sensation and pleasure coursing through my body over and over again."
Sawyer is a girl who has barely survived her upbringing. Being raised in a conservative church and at the hands of her abusive father, she is desperate to get away. When an unexpected thing happens, she is given the opportunity to escape. Although she is alone, she gathers up her belongings and runs!
“Fear and love are very much the same."
Finn is a damaged hero with plenty of regrets. After experiencing great loss, he feels as if he has no reason to live. When Sawyer collides into his life, a spark ignites in Finn and he remembers what it means to feel something again. As Sawyer begins to rebuild her life, Finn is happy to help teach her all kinds of beautiful things.

description
"Embracing fear is the same as embracing love. It hurts. It ends. All is lost. All can be found again."
Told in dual POV, The Outskirts is a beautiful contemporary romance full of complex characters just trying to find their way. After experiencing great loss, both Sawyer and Finn are a perfect match. The writing is well-paced and the impeccable description in the text transports you to the small town swamp. The secondary characters play a critical role in the development of the plot and I loved the way their relationships intercept with Say and Finn. With witty dialogue, passion, and tender romance, Finn and Sawyer are one couple you will want to meet!

description

Overall, I highly recommend anything and everything written by T.M. Frazier. She creates the most unique characters and The Outskirts is just one more example of why I will never get enough of T.M.'s work. Although this ends on a cliffy, it is bearable. Don't waste another second. Meet Finn and Sawyer now!

The Outskirts is part one of the new duet from T M. Frazier, and when I really enjoy a book, I thank the writing Gods for making it a duet because I know for sure that there is more greatness to come. T.M. Frazier is a new author to me and after reading the synopsis, I knew deep down this was going to be a story I was going to really enjoy. I convinced myself very early on that I was going to love her work and I’m so glad the high expectations I had for this story were fulfilled.

As soon as I started The Outskirts I was transported to the dark world Sawyer lived in day to day. She is the daughter of a religious, alcoholic and abusive father, and a mother who was unable to stand up for either of them. Sawyer constantly lived in a world clouded by fear, rules and helplessness.

An opportunity arises for Sawyer to make her big escape and she takes it, because let’s face it, if she continues to stay she may not make it out alive. The courage it took for Sawyer to plan and leave the only home and family she has ever known was truly inspiring. It is no easy feat though, knowing your every move is being watched by your controlling father. I know I’m really invested in a book when a key nail biting scene occurs and I have to remind myself to breathe.

With not much more than a rusty old truck, a tiny campervan and a deed to land her mother has left her, she sets off to find her freedom; freedom from abuse and from her father’s tyrannical rule.

Finn is now a shell of the man he once was; when you lose someone close to you it’s hard to see the light shining through the darkness and despair. He is now a recluse living in a run-down shack in the middle of a swamp and drowning his sorrows at the bottom of a bottle. He is alone and wants to keep it that way. Beware anyone who enters his space and disrupts his wallowing.

“Looking past his blue eyes I spoke directly to the hurt in them.

“I was thinking that I didn’t know a naked man could be so beautiful.”

The last thing he wants is for a feisty girl who dresses like a nun taking up residence as his neighbour in a campervan. To say Finn was angry about this intrusion would be a massive understatement, but the sweet, innocent Sawyer in her search for independence and freedom, is determined not to go anywhere. She makes her mark not just on Finn, but on the town of Outskirts, Florida.

I absolutely loved everything about both characters; Sawyers, naivety, innocence and her bravery. Rather than running from her past, she is running towards her freedom. Finn is broken and he is the way he is because he feels deep pain and regret due to what he has had to endure. This couple, even though on a rocky road, are perfect for each other. They have both been through so much, but together they can start to heal. I also loved the third character in this story, the town of Outskirts, Florida. The town has been through its fair share of betrayal and the writing was so vivid and real that I felt for what this town had endured.

After reading The Outskirts, I know one thing for sure, I want to visit the bar in the sleepy town of Outskirts, Florida and write some Tings. If you want to know what that is, then you have to read this captivating story to find out. I wait with baited breath for part two of The Outskirts duet, The Outliers, because I cannot wait to find out how T.M Frazier will conclude The Outskirts journey.

Una historia muy entretenida y… y… y…… y ya. No hay más que decir.
description

"I’m stronger for what I’ve been through. I’m stronger because of you.”

Saywer saw her future laid out in front of her… sadly it was in the form of her mother’s casket. But there was no tears, no time to grieve, or even time to reminisce on the wonderful memories. The life they lived, under the heavy hand of her father, there was nothing but a life of expectations; Subservient. Submissive. Abused. Battered. Awakening from her meek existence, she finds the gift her mother left behind and takes the opportunity and heads towards a new life in The Outskirts.

Finn should have died years ago, the golden boy of the dilapidated town turned hermit. A new neighbor shakes up his drunken isolation and it’s messing with his grumpiness. He shouldn’t want to be happy, he doesn’t;t deserve to smile, he doesn’t deserve a second chance …. But why, does this girl make him want more.

Outskirts is more than she imagined, and everything she could ever wanted … a new life, a new love and a whole lot of answers, but those answers awaken the monsters of the past and they’re not going to back down easily.

The Outskirts was a book that just took you away; a story of life, love and mystery. Sawyer’s story alone was one you would cheer on, a girl finding herself and a life of her own. Experiencing all that life has to offer and living it through her eyes. Sawyer and Finn as a couple tortured, sweet and sexy… it was a push / pull relationship that you can’t help but want more for them because together they help each other not be so alone. The mystery behind the town and how deep the secrets run just add to the storyline drawing you in page after page. This is the first part of the duet, one that will make you want to jump right into the next. Recommended for my friends who love their love with a side of mystery and heat.

FOUR STORMY STARS ****

When you read a T.M Frazier book you should know that she is going to shock you with a jaw dropping story, you should also know, that her poignant writing will transport you to a place where you can smell the rain, feel the thunder inside your heart, and discover a kind of love only she can write, the kind that you never, ever forget.

Sawyer Dixon, after twenty years of living a life where everything was forbidden, has finally escaped. She's looking for answers and freedom in a little town called, The Outskirts. When her mother died, she left Sawyer a little box filled with random clues that have taken her to this place in the middle of the Florida Swamp, where she'll discover a world full of new things, she didn't even know existed. Her very first scary encounter in this new place is with the the town's hermit; Finn Hollis.

Just like Sawyer, Finn is running away from a painful past that has him shackled to a dark and lonely existence. Sawyer comes through the town like a beautiful storm; bringing light and hope for a new day not only for Finn but to some of the other residents of The Outskirts.

Finn and Sawyer end up being neighbors, and then friends, and then more. Finn feels the need to protect innocent Sawyer from everything and everyone. But Sawyer doesn't want to be sheltered or owned, she wants to live, she desperately wants to experience everything life has to offer to the fullest. She might be scared of storms and thunder but she's definitely not afraid to live, or to love.

Exciting turns and twists will surprise us as we read, and ultimately living us with an unforgettable ending that I still CANT BELIEVE!!!

Seriously people, I will be stalking, hounding and whatever else it takes until T.M Frazier writes the second book. I'm dying!!!! I need to know what happens next...

“The same way my lungs or my heart is mine. You are a part of me, Sawyer. And in that way, you do belong to me.”

This is the first book by T.M. Frazier I have read that wasn't in the King series or related to that world, In witch I'm obsessed with. Well that is NOT the case here. The Outskirts was just barley...okay :( I did like the very beginning, but then it got really BLAH. I guess for me, after reading Frazier's other stuff I was expecting something...more. So so much more! I liked the idea of this world and a few of the characters that she created. It just didn't have that WOW factor by any means! It did have me laughing at parts, but only when it included Josh and Miller. I did't really like Finn. He did some pretty creepy shit, but heyyy it's all good because he's fucking fiiine! Um no its really not. Finn is the very definition of invader of personal space. I also thought the whole shower thing so kinda dumb. I wasn't expecting that ending at all though, and I mean that in a good way. I was like, Wait. A. Freaking. Minute.! But sadly that ending alone wasn't worth raising my rating over. I will be starting The Outliers today just because I kinda wanna see where it goes.

Life is composed of a thousand tings.

With Ms. Frazier you always get something exceptional and here with this book it no different. Flawless writing, a gritty, emotional, electrifying read. Once again it is hard for me to put into words how this book made me feel.

Sawyer Dixon has had a sheltered upbringing and an extremist one at that being a daughter of one of the Reverend’s with The Church of God’s Light. She escapes to live life on her terms. Sawyer is so full of life and love with everything that she wants to experience. She is brave that she takes Rusty and Blue to face the unknown. She really comes into herself and by the end of the book I was astonished how much I actually liked her. When she first arrives in Outskirts Florida she is somewhat naïve and helpless but still has an inner strength about her.

Finn Hollis is stuck in a rut. He has been suffering for years. He is the swamp yeti. Put himself in a self-imposed prison. He is a hermit but that hermit is about to come back to life. Not only does he nearly run our heroine off the road but is also a right toad to her when she is parked with her camper at the side of his house to get to her swamp shack. He is a complicated man where there is no black or white to him.

Finn doesn’t want to feel anything for Sawyer but the interactions they have and the more he gets to know her. He can’t leave her alone. He is overprotective and beneath all his anti-social-ness he is a fantastic Hero. Oh and He. Buys. Her. A. Frigging. Library.

They have chemistry with one another and with Sawyer’s lack of experience Finn didn’t push her to do anything she didn’t want to do. They may have gotten off to a rocky start but I loved how their relationship progressed. What they have is tangible.

The world that was created and the beauty of the swamplands makes me want to move to Florida or at least visit. For all its harshness it has so much charm. The town is quirky, the people are even quirkier.

There are some twists and turns and the ending and the cliffhanger? Not what I expected. I betted on something completely different. I was so far off the spectrum with my guess it’s not even funny.

I forget I have to mention Josh and Miller. They are the frigging best.

“Josh, baby, when are you going to get that pretty head out of Vaginaville and let me introduce you to Cocktown again?” Miller asked, at a volume slightly above the guitar player in the corner. “I dated one girl. ONE. And it was six years ago. You’re never going to let me forget that, are you?” Josh jabbed a finger into Miller’s chest. “No, and I hope I never forget it either. Actually, I think about it all the time.” Miller closed his eyes. “In fact, I’m thinking about the two of you right now together.”

Bring on book 2 I need it like right now because I’m sure it will be just as suspenseful, mind blowing and full of the evil ginger awesomeness that I know and love.

I enjoyed this one although not near as much as the King series! The Outskirts is one of those reads that you can easily read in one sitting! I definitely didn't want to put it down!!

There is a bit of a cliffhanger, but nothing that will have you throwing your Kindle for having to wait for the next read!!! My only complaint would be that some of the pacing of the main couples relationship seemed to go too fast... Also the hero's change from being a loner drunk to wanting to live again was very quick too.

On the whole though this was another great read from TM Frazier, and I do look forward to the conclusion!!

WTF. Did it REALLY have to end like that? Sheesh. My mind is boggled. My heart is thumping out of my chest, and I am almost at a loss for words... Almost... Once again. T.M. Frazier has written a fantastic and vivid novel about two broken souls who are able to find love. The setting is PERFECT for this novel and is almost a metaphor for Sawyer and Finn's lives. The love story is absolutely beautiful- even though it happens quite fast. And the characters? Downright amazing (I hope Miller and Josh get their own story in the future. Maybe even a Critter prequel? Could be really cool). It's been quite a while since I was able to give a book a solid 5 star rating but this one DESERVES IT. I can't freakin wait for the Outliers. I need the book NOW NOW NOW (stomps feet). Grab this one. You won't regret it.

Sawyer: She was raised in a strict religious upbringing where women were secondary to men. She couldn't read books without approval, wear modern clothes, or think about anything ungodly (sex, swearing, etc.). When her mother commits suicide she finds a box that was hidden for her- one that gives her the escape she had always craved- and uses it's contents to leave her horrendous life behind her. Where does she go? A small and almost dilapidated town called the Outskirts. The very place where her mother had found some sort of freedom. And it's in the Outskirts that Sawyer finally meets people and finds a place to call home. Never in her wildest dreams would she have expected to meet her soulmate in her broody neighbor... But love happens in the weirdest ways.

Finn: Finn is suffering from a tragedy that took the woman he loved away two years ago. He hasn't kept in touch with friends and has become a recluse. He lives on his own land in a shack(ish) home in the swamps of the Outskirts. To his disapproval, a girl with a lot of freckles stumbles into his little humble abode throwing his life off kilter. He has no intentions of falling for this girl. But fate has other plans for him...

What happens with these two? Who the hell knows! It ends in a dang cliffhanger. WAHHH! I mean, I have some ideas, but I guess I have to wait for the final book in the duet. Sigh...

This book is FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. I have been reading T.M. Frazier's books since she got published and have loved every.single.one since then. She continues to amaze me with her writing skills, vivid details to setting and emotions, and bringing is amazing characters who most would consider outcasts. This book, dare I say, may be my favorite of her's yet and I am so excited to share it with others so they can take a chance on it. So grab your copy! :D

My rating indicates that I really, really liked it. And I did! The author created a very unique and surprising story with interesting characters about whom you want to read and read. I can not wait for the second part. Hope it's long!

“It’s when I’m pissed off at you that I want to kiss you the most.”

Sawyer Dixon just lost her mother, and was left alone with her abusive father. They live in a cult church, which considers women as secondary beings. She realized that if she wants to live, she must escape from home. When she finds a letter from her mother, the whole plan takes shape.

Sawyer manages to escape and goes to the Outskirts, small Florida town in the swamp. This is where she meets people who help her, but also those who do not enjoy her presence. To be exact, her new neighbor Finn Hollis. He is struggling with a past that he can not let go. He pulled away from everyone and lives like a loner. The new girl pisses him off and intrigues him at once.

“You make me want things, Say. Crave things. Things I haven’t thought about in a long time.”

It's kind of enemies to lovers story. At the beginning they don't like each other, but it is not a real hate. More annoyance of the feelings the other side causes. I enjoyed this moment of the story. Their contacts were absorbing. It quickly developed and was very easy to get entangled with.

The heroine is easy to like. Her upbringing made her an interesting figure. Even exasperating and hard-hearted Finn could not resist. Very moody and sexy Finn, I would like to add. They were cute together. And I liked how they discovered themselves in every possible way.

“Anything could be a fairytale. And as he took my body again I knew there was no reason for me to ever want a prince. I already had my very own beast.”

What I also liked are amazing secondary characters. Especially Josh and Miller will bring a lot of entertainment to the story. Hope they get their own. The whole town makes that you want to visit, get to know them all and hang some tings. What an amazing idea.

The storyline is just very complex. Emotional, sensual, mysterious and captivating. At every moment, I was curious what will happen next and I never get bored. It's unpredictable. You can count on twists, especially at the end that make you impatiently expect the next part. It's not that far, November 1st, so do not hesitate just read this amazing book.

The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier
First in a Duet. Does not stand alone. Contemporary Romance.
It had been a bit since I sat down and completely gobbled up a book in one sitting, but when I got my copy of The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier , I dropped everything I needed to do and was completely consumed. It was almost strange how I was so transported into this sleepy, abandoned swamp town in Florida, that I felt like I watched a movie, it was so visual. I don’t think I have ever felt the need to pull photos for a book before, but I found myself looking for the visuals to match what I read when I finished. I suppose I just didn’t want to leave The Outskirts. This one will be a re-read for sure.

Sawyer grew up in the church. Her father was a very strict, religious zealot and women were completely subservient to men. She and her mother were regularly beaten. She was home schooled and completely sheltered. Women were not to show skin or have any type of relations outside of marriage. But when her mother took the easy way out, 21 year old Sawyer was left alone with her father. Until she came upon a secret gift from her mother; an escape. And she grabbed it an ran off to an abandoned old swamp town in Florida.

She quickly found out that the land she was settling on was right next to an angry, drunk, but gorgeous recluse who did not want her there AT.ALL. Luckily, the town’s sheriff stepped in to help the innocent girl out. A beautiful black woman named Josh, I freaking LOVED the sheriff! But she wasn’t able to stop the angry Finn from continually trying to intimidate Sawyer into leaving.
"The land. The town. The people. Everything was new to me. But angry men weren’t, and I refused to be intimidated. Not by my own fears. Not by the church. Not by my father. Not by anyone. Not ANYMORE."

There was certainly tension between the neighbors.
“I was thinking that I didn’t know a naked man could be so beautiful.”

As I said, Sawyer was VERY sheltered. Wearing long skirts and long-sleeved shirts in the Florida heat because she grew up not able to show skin, Sawyer had a whole new world opening to her.
“If I was wrong, and it turned out that kissing was punishable by an eternity at the devil’s side, then kissing Finn might just be worth the risk.”

Finn used to be the town hero, the popular boy. But a tragedy he blamed himself for drove the guy into the swamp, seen around town so rarely he was like a swamp yeti. Meanwhile, Sawyer got a job in town and got really friendly with Josh (the sheriff), so if Finn was really into her, he may have to leave his swamp shack a bit.
“So what’s the second kind of beauty?”
“The kind you can’t stop looking at no matter how hard you try.” Finn lowered his mouth so his lips moved against the tip of my ear when he spoke. “The kind you want to fuck.”
I swallowed. “What does that kind of beauty look like?” I asked, breathlessly.
Finn’s hand rose on my stomach until his fingers lightly grazed the underside of one of my breasts. “Right now it looks like freckled skin and gold flecked eyes.”

I have so many amazing quotes that I pulled for this review. I am dying to share them, but I’m afraid to give too much away, and I also realized that all the quotes I pulled were super sweet and romantic. While this story itself is way lighter and sweeter than T.M. Frazier’s other books, there are secrets and twists that may change that in the next book, and a grittiness that only T.M. can pen.

The town itself was like another character. It came so completely alive for me. It is a Florida town that originally built a water park at the edge of The Everglades. Housing communities were started, stores were built, but the project was abandoned and the water park, town and even the exit was getting lost back into the swamp. T.M. Frazier is great at writing these sleepy Florida towns, and being a Floridian I may be more able to envision them than most, but I doubt it, because her attention to detail can transport anyone there.

Likes:

•I was sucked in and read it in one sitting.
•The vivid descriptions of the town.
•While I usually can’t stand waiting on edge for a second in a duet, I am so glad there is more!
•The end was a surprise.
•I absolutely loved the side characters.
•Sawyer was strong and vulnerable at the same time.
•Finn, despite being an angry and mean drunk at first was ♥♥♥
•Together the couple was completely magnetic.
•The “Tings”

Dislikes:

•I had an arc, and pointed a few things out to T.M. Frazier, so I think they were changed, but overall, I felt like Sawyer sometimes seemed a little more worldly than she should have, given her upbringing.
•Sometimes I had trouble with all the unisexual names. Sawyer, Finn and Josh (a girl) can all go the other way, and I had to re-read a few passages because I confused the characters.

The Down and Dirty:
Though this isn’t the violent, gritty, depraved world of The King Series, T.M. Frazier managed to inject that grittiness into a new town where the characters have their own demons and secrets that I look forward to uncovering in the next book, The Outliers. There is something so uniquely compelling about The Outskirts. The forgotten, swampy Florida town and its characters came completely alive for an unputdownable one-sitting read. I can't wait to go back in The Outliers. I was nervous I wouldn't remember the book enough when the next comes out, but I think it is so different, that I won't have a problem with that. Still, I will probably get the audiobook and re-listen before, just because I enjoyed it so much.
Rating: 5 Stars, 4 Heat

3.5⭐️
Wow!! I did not see that coming. The great twist at the end of the book was the best. I have to admit I struggled a bit with a couple elements of this story and was hoping for a kick. In true T.M. Frazier style, she gave me exactly what I needed.

Here's the breakdown: Sawyer Dixon is left alone with her tyrannical father after her mother passes away. Shortly after, she finds a box of her mom's things that give her the means to escape. She leaves for a small town called Outskirts. While there, she starts to build a new life and love, but will it lasts?

What I loved: Finn and Sawyer are both AMAZING characters. I loved everything about them. I love reading about broken and scarred characters overcoming difficult situations and these two fit the bill. They're broken and battered by the people who should love most. Deeply sad and not sure how to overcome the odd, but willing to give it a try. And because of that, they not only become stronger and happier, their love grows and blossoms. It was like watching a beautiful flower bloom from mud and muck. That's actually not a bad analogy considering the setting of the story. LOL

While I loved the MCs, there were a few things that just didn't make sense to me and others that were distracting, therefore, the rating of 3.5⭐️. I tried really hard to get over myself and suspend belief but couldn't. So, I liked it, but didn't love it. I have every intention of reading book 2 to see how the story ends.

No one leaves me with my heart in my throat quite like T.M. Frazier does with her work! It’s like you know it’s coming but it still SHOCKS the hell out of you. It’s amazing how she grabs my attention from page one and keeps me captivated and enthralled the whole way through. I’m ADDICTED! I’m THRILLED! I’m SO DAMN EXCITED for what’s to come, I can’t even stand it! Frazier gives us two broken souls in the form of Sawyer and Finn. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I just FEEL for these two characters. For Finn, he refuses to move on from the tragedies of his past. He’s stuck. He’s broken. He’s angry. He isolates himself to stick with the pain. Sawyer wants so much more for her life. She wants freedom. She no longer wants to be stuck in the life that her mother lived. When Sawyer blasts into Finn’s life, he can no longer ignore everything around him. It’s time to face his demons, step up, and teach the beautiful girl next door how to live.

“That gasp is mine. This mouth is mine. YOU. ARE. MINE.”

I’m so ecstatic that the author has turned this into a duet, because there is no way you could pack this much wonderful into one novel, and I just know that Frazier is just getting started. If you are looking for a sizzling HOT and EMOTIONAL romance that will leave you gasping for air, THE OUTSKIRTS is the book for you! Be prepared...book two in the duet, THE OUTLIERS, doesn’t come out until the first of November, so you must have patience for this greatness! I’ve read enough of T.M. Frazier’s books to know that what she has next for us will blow our minds! I’m counting on that and I have no doubt that she will bring her A-GAME each and every single time!

Oh. My. Gosh. I just...wow. The Outskirts was everything I never knew I needed and more!

Sawyer and Finn are two characters I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Sawyer's had a horrible upbringing and escaping to the outskirts made her character shine. She's beautiful, strong and so inexperienced at life. Watching her experience her firsts is really quite refreshing and adorable. Finn is broken hearted and can't see a way out, watching him slowly begin to realise he doesn't have to torture himself all the damn time is beautiful to witness. He's strong, independent and fiercely loyal when he loves someone. His protectiveness shines when in the company of special ones.

Every character was super special in this story. Sawyer, Finn, Josh, Miller, Critter and everyone else. They all had a special role and made you laugh when they made their appearance. Especially Josh and Miller, damn they're insane.

The storyline was something I didn't see coming at all, it's different to any other story I've read tbh. Swamp's have always been dirty to me until I read this, this book makes it sound beautiful. The book was never short on keeping your gripped. It hooks you in and keeps you until the very last page and even after that you still want, no NEED more. Especially with that Ending, the cliffhanger, damn. We all know TM Frazier is queen of cliff hangers, queen of making you want to pull your hair out because wtf was that ending? Seriously!

When I seen TM was writing a new book that wasn't anything to do with her King serious I was worried I wouldn't connect with her charters as much as I did with the others but fuck, I was so so wrong. I connected so hard with them, they'll be in my heart forever and I can't wait for book 2 (The Outliers) to be here already. This book is so much different to the King series but my god, you'll love it just as much.

"There are moments in your life, seconds even, when something happens that changes everything. Changes you."

TM did an incredible job on this book. Her hard work and time is clear to see in this book, it's absolutely perfect and gahhh, she's amazing! If I could give this beauty all the stars, I would. Perfection.

Title: The Outskirts
Author: T.M. Frazier
Category: Romance
Series or Standalone: Part of a duet, Book #1
POV: Dual, First person
Plot: 4
Characters: 4
Scorching Level: 4
HEA: Not telling

This book pulled me out of my reading slump. Well, it would be more accurate to say that the first half of the book did that.
I loved the premise of the book. Sawyer is a young woman that has been sheltered by her cruel father. After her mother is dead, she finally decides to leave her home and search for freedom. She finds the end of her rainbow in Outskirts, a small town her mother seemed to love.
Her neighbor is a little less than welcoming. Finn has become a recluse and the idea of a woman living right next to his house isn't exactly thrilling. What he didn't expect was to feel something for the young girl.
Secrets, lies and romance await you in this exciting first installment.
This would have been a five star read for me if I didn't find some parts of it a little cliche. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book but the element of surprise didn't hit me when the plot did its major twist.
Other than that, I recommend this book. One of my favorite T.M. Frazier books!
