This is an awesome book. If I had finished my dissertation, this book would have figured prominently in its delineation of the concept of cunning in ancient Greece.

Un saggio decisamente interessante su quello che è il concetto di Metis, di astuzia. I due autori funzionano molto bene insieme in un'unica narrazione, c'è coerenza e attenzione ai dettagli.
È un saggio saturo di informazioni, di spiegazioni e di fonti. Praticamente tutto ciò che dovrebbe essere un saggio.

Non posso dare oltre 3 stelle per una mia limitazione personale. Questo è stato il mio primo saggio sulla storia greca e forse si è rivelato essere "troppo" per me. Non è sicuramente un testo semplicistico, soprattutto per chi non ha una base di greco sotto.

A parte questo lo consiglio sicuramente per chi è interessato alla questione, all'interno ci sono davvero un sacco di spunti da approfondire

Un libro estremamente interessante e scorrevole.
Un saggio che ruota intorno alla "metis" cioè all'intelligenza, all'astuzia, che non è solo prerogativa divina (Zeus, Atena, Efesto e Ermes sono i campioni della metis), ma anche di alcune categorie umane come il timoniere, l'auriga, il politico, il sofista, il tessitore, il cacciatore, il pescatore, il medico cioè tutti quei lavori che prevedono l'uso del proprio intelletto per sfruttare al meglio una situazione e, addirittura, di prevederne l'esito.

One of my favorite reads of the year, every chapter had me captivated and thirsty for more.

The authors explore cunning intelligence in Greek culture and society through an analysis of ancient Greek mythology. My one critique is that the title felt a little misleading given the heavy reliance on myth instead of analyzing Greek culture and society itself as more recent books have done, but ultimately I found it incredibly informative and could see myself reading it again cover to cover.

واجهت صعوبة في قراءته أخذا خمسة أيام ونصف ربما لاني لا املك معلومات أولية عن الآلهة اليونانية وما قبلها أجد أن هذا الكتاب مفيد لمن يريد أن يعمل دراسة بخصوص هذا الموضوع لكونه غني بالمعلومات
